What do a dom, a switch, and an unstable assassin have in common?
They all have an obsession over one woman. The problem? They’ve been assigned to kill her.
Emelia has clawed her way to the top of a mafia empire, and her rivals are desperate to dethrone her. When one of those rivals hires a team to take out the leader of the Black Crown gambling den, none of them realize what they’re signing up for.
This Queen will not bend the knee so easily.
She has given up multiple pieces of her soul to build this throne of blood and bone, and she’s not about to let three masked men waltz in and destroy her kingdom. But as they pull apart her walls brick by brick, she finds it difficult to keep them at arms length.
Will the boys be able to deliver the final blow and finish the assignment?
Will they be able to handle the backlash if they don’t?
They’re gambling with more than just chips now, and it doesn’t look like any of them are prepared to fold and lose the queen in their hand.
***This book is part of the Dead Man's Hand duet and will end in a cliffhanger. Betting Blind is a MMFM reverse harem and reverse mafia romance that features content that might be triggering for some. Please check the trigger warnings at the front of the book before diving in. It is also my recommendation to have a friend nearby. ;)
Found myself in a bit of a reading rut until I picked this up. The character development and plot are so carefully crafted that I got so attached to the book.. and the Cliffhanger… I need the next book ASAP.
This did sound promising and it appeared to have all the good ingredients for a good, engaging story. I did like the concept of hidden identities and of course, having a rather strong FMC, who is the mastermind behind the scenes piqued my interest. The story starts off with two of the MMCs, capturing a moment in the past and then gets back to the present. As the story progress, it becomes clear why the book starts with certain snippets from the past, but at times I did feel like it took away from the main plot. The connection between the characters is definitely more lust- orientated, but that was not the main struggle here for me. I did find the story a bit disjointed and as for depth of the characters, I saw very little here. I will read the second part of the duet and hopefully, things will pick up.
I have been in a reading slump since April. I signed up for this ARC hoping it would pull me out and it did just that! This book was SO good. I was confused at first about where I was being taken in this story because there were different POVs but the way she pulls them together? Love. AND THE SMUT. I’m in love with Hayden. He’s been added to my list of book boyfriends 😫 I don’t want to give any spoilers, but this book releases July 1st, go read it! I love the way the characters all fall together perfectly.
I really wanted to love it - STRONG female lead who takes no bull? Yes please! Reverse harem uh huh! And gambling! What’s not to love? I did read this as an ARC reader. The book while having a good amount of spice lacked flow in my opinion. It also was very hard for me to get through. There were some plot holes and other big misses for me personally.
I really liked this book, had bit of a hard time getting into it at the starting but then I suddenly just couldn't put it down. And the character development and plot are so good *chefs kiss* That ending😭 Please I need the next book now and please don't break my heart.
This. Book. Was. Amazing! I haven’t read very many reverse Mafia books, but this is my favorite by far!
Emelia is a badass, kickass, take no prisoners psychopath and she gets along with Hayden because he’s just as insane! She’s behind the scenes, playing the game and no one is the wiser! She takes out the trash while being a normal working woman.
Declan is the face of his team while Silas wreaks havoc behind a screen and Hayden is Hades handing out death sentences like they’re candy. These boys were not expecting to fall for this killer woman and have no idea who she really is. They just know they’ve been assigned to kill the head of the Black Crown and she quickly becomes their obsession instead of an asset, so what will they do?
The twist and turns, murder and mayhem, and spice in this book are top notch and if you don’t go grab your copy today…you’re missing out! It did end up on a sad cliffhanger and I’m dying over here…Lindsay better get the next book written quick before I lose my mind!
*** EDIT: I changed my rating to a five star. The author sent out the correct chapter 10 so now it all makes sense on how she met Silas individually.*** I read this as an ARC so to start off there were some errors. Only a couple things here and there. There was a double chapter and in that double chapter it skipped something and I was really confused on how she personally met Silas to where she was able to text him. There was a coffee shop mentioned but I went back and did not read anything about a coffee shop. No biggie though I don't think it ruined or made the book confusing from there until the end. Just a small hiccup.
Now to the characters. I LOVE Declan, I wish there was more of him. Every time it was Declan's chapters I got so excited. If I could wrap him in a little gift and take him home, I would. I love how he acted like Em was going to ruin all three of them and their bond, but I think it's just because he was afraid himself to lose Em just as equally as Silas and Hayden even though he didn't want to show it. Silas and Hayden are amazing and their relationship was the BEST. Now Em, she is a badass. I was worried she would get annoying and be too stubborn. I was so wrong. I'm all about the FMC being a brat here and there, but sometimes it can be too much and I'm glad she wasn't like that. She was awesome, strong, independent, confident, I mean I could go on forever. I really hope Hector comes into play a little more in the next book ;) I can see his character development and his relationship with Em being so good. I loved that Em was the leader of a mafia and the gambling den. I love mafia books but I've always wanted to read one where it was a woman in charge, because I always said if I wrote a book that would be what I would write about. She is cunning and calculated and she KNOWS how to run her mafia.
I KNEW that this ended in a cliffhanger, as it was said when we received the ARC. But this wasn't just a cliffhanger, we are all hanging by a pinkie over a very angry ocean. I had to set my kindle down for a second and breathe after finishing. All I can say is Lindsay please don't rip my heart out in the next book. All in all, I loved this book. I cannot wait for the second book.
I really enjoyed this book. I love a badass FMC. The spice was spicin’. Just a warning you are left with a cliff hanger so beware. But what a great book!!!
First off I really enjoyed this book. I loved the spice. I loved the cliffhanger at the end. I always love a badass FMC. I did get a little confused about the timeline on some things. Like I missed a part where Silas and Emilia meet for the first time.
I really wanted to get this 5 stars because the idea behind the storyline was amazing! But I just feel like there should have been more. More time for me to fall in love with the boys. I really wanted that cliffhanger to hit hard than it did. I just wasn’t there. I didn’t feel like I was that connected to them. Now to Emilia, I felt very connected to her. But I really wish there was more time with them all together. Maybe going out on jobs together or times at the house. It just felt a little rushed. I would love for the author to go back and really beef up the story. I felt like there should have been more of a build up with Silas and Hayden too.
Now the spice was perfectly balanced with the plot. And the scene in the warehouse was 🫣🤌🏼🥵. When the part with Silas taking over came through, I was deceased. It was amazing.
Overall I would recommend this book! I can’t wait for the next one.
I really enjoyed this book and the introduction into Lindsay Reign’s world! This is the author’s first book and I couldn’t be more thrilled to support her!
The storyline is crazy in the best way possible. The characters are insane. There’s one or two really hot spicy scenes. It’s a an easy to read, humorous, sexy mafia romance book.
As much I enjoyed the read, I do feel obligated to point out some downfalls. The writing could’ve been a bit more flushed out; it was clunky and felt a bit wattpad-esque at times. I would’ve so loved more emotional depth and character development, but that can be challenging with multi-POV stories. That being said, this is Reign’s very first novel; I didn’t expect perfection. I’m looking forward to the next book and seeing her grow as a writer!
🃏 Mafia 🃏 Why choose - MFMM bi awakening with ⚔️ 🃏 Enemies to lovers 🃏 Touch her and 💀 🃏 Masked men 🃏 Insta love 🃏 A shopping list of kinks
This is the best book to get you out of any reading slump, I was absolutely hooked from page 1 and couldn’t put the thing down. What a fantastic FMC Em was, I loved her and her feisty attitude, she was a badass.
To say this book was fast paced was an understatement, you do have to pay attention to follow along as some points but it’s worth it for the overall pay off I can assure you. The character development was on point from the get go with a fantastic overarching storyline. I honestly can’t believe this was a debut novel.
THE CLIFFHANGER!!! NO!!!! I was so not ready for that! Ugh I need book 2. I need to know what happens!! I'm about to throw my phone and scream because I need to know!!!
This is such a good book! I loved it so much I couldn't put it down. The storyline is just the best, crazy vs crazy is what I think when I read about Hayden and Emelia lol. But I love all the different type of characters from Silas to Declan to even Hector. The author does such a great job that you just can't stop reading. This story is an MMFM type of book and I love it! So if you are looking for a book with MMFM give this book a read!
Filled with twists, turns, and one psychotic mafia princess. Some may say Emelia isn't playing with a full deck- but that doesn't matter when she can stack the deck.
The story in this is edge of the seat gripping. The casino setting is stunning. The men? 🥵 Yes please sign me up.
I am not always the biggest fan of mafia romances but this one checked all of the right boxes. I cannot WAIT to see what Em comes up with for revenge!
ARC Review Betting Blind is a dark Mafia why choose. Emelia is a female head of the mafia with a dark side that loves to unalive people. Silas, Declan and Hayden are best friends and assassins. They get a job to hunt Em down but along the way they all fall for her. She is also attracted to them. They start a relationship of sorts but when the Irish mob catches up to them. Someone gets hurt. Ends on a cliffhanger.
I am so glad I read this book it was action packed filled with edge of your seat action and the fmc was hardcore and it's oh so spicy I didn't know what what to expect reading this book it was well written and thought out I'm definitely going to recommend this book to friends
Finally a story where the FMC is the badass mafia queen! The character development was amazing and felt more natural. The banter between the characters added to the story and did not feel out of place like in some of the books I’ve read lately. I wasn’t prepared for the cliffhanger though 😩 I know for sure that I will be reading it all over again when the next book releases.
What a book! Loved the multiple POV-- getting to know the main characters' thoughts really helped understand the dynamics of their relationship. That cliffhanger! I need more ASAP. So good.
What a ride! But wait, was she brought in on the whole scheme at some point? The cliffhanger though......has me begging for the next book pronto! Totally at a loss for words!
Secretary by day, bartender by night, but always the unknown assassin & Queen.
The Dom, the switch and the unstable assassin all have their sights on a bada$$ woman who shows them each a different side until they piece together that they all want the same woman and she doesn't mind being shared because she wants all 3.
The men are on assignment to take down the leader of the Black Crown but first they need to get close and be sure they have the right man. When everything comes to a head will everyone survive?
This was a fast passed adrenaline filled story that left you needing so many more answers. I absolutely need the 2nd part of this duet as there are so many people and things up in the air right now. I absolutely loved the sexual tension between the 2 friends that pretended they didn't want each other (except it was obvious they did). The first time they all take the Queen was hot hot hot.
I found it somewhat hard to read in the beginning of the story. Like some lines weren’t as smooth and there were some parts where I’m genuinely confused on what’s happening. It’s like you having so much things to do but don’t know which one to start with. In this case, there were parts when there’s too much happening and the author wanted to tell everything that you don’t know which one to focus on. But I really loved the plot and of course the characters. I hope to get more out of the guys on the next book sometimes it feels like they lack connection. Also I’m really curious what Hector’s angle is 😅 I’m not sure if he gets to be part of the harem or not lol. I found it gets easier and more interesting to read towards the end(which is not really the end).
ugh i was so hopeful about this book but it just wasn’t it. it had everything i love, psycho fmc secretly in charge who is stabby, mafia/crime, and why choose. and the bones were all there, it just never got there. i read other reviews where they said the beginning was confusing and once you got through it it got better but i was just left confused the entire time. the prologue made no sense and never connected to anything. you never found out who or what the guys actually were (assassins for hire? part of a larger crime group?) and i felt like they were all teenagers trying to act older. they came off as boys and not men. there were also some grammatical and word choose errors that added to confusion while reading. despite the last few pages being really confusing, the cliffhanger was a good one.
Damn the author has done me dirty ending it like that 😭 But holy moly this book had me some type of way. I LOVE LOVE LOVE how bad@ss the FMC is, she's so unapologetically unhinged and doesn't need a man to save her (a man... How about 4? 😏) kidding. She holds her own and then some... And then gets some 👀🥵 the spice was spicing and the plot twists had my jaw on the FLOOR. The book was beautifully written and the characters were so complex - the FMC in particular, she's always in control even when you think she isn't, playing the game better than the plays who don't think she's in the running 👌 I have no idea where this is going next but I CANNOT wait to find out!!
I was very kindly given a version of this early and I'm leaving my honest thoughts.
This was honestly so good. It's been a while since mafia romance has sunk its claws into me, but this one had me hooked from the jump. This was such a good read. I loved the characters. And finally, a main female lead that is ACTUALLY bad ass. I've read a lot that try to paint them like that, and then they end up not being bad ass at all. Emelia is a fucking queen though. The guys are fantastic. All of them speak to a different part of me. Declan to the little bit of me that wants to be dominated. Silas, to the little bit of me that wants to dominate a sweet bb. Hayden, to the unhinged side that also wants to be worshipped. Even Hector, who I hope is joining the love fest next book, the side of me that wants to be protected and cherished.
Its been a hot minute since I've read a book with a FMC that was just unhinged enough that made you yell HELL YEAH! With what and who she deals with she has to be a little psychotic. I'm hear for it. She keeps the men in her life and the ones she let's in guessing. She is the Queen B in her mafia world and everyone else just lives in it. The men she let's in, already are a team themselves. Three who have their own personalities and issues but are good together. Emelia shakes their foundation and has them reeling with feelings of possessive, stalker, touch her and eek eek eek vibes. Plot twist and cliffhanger at the end will have you at the edge of your seat saying what?!!!. Book 2 can't come fast enough. Awesome read. ♥♠♦
Wow amazing book. Let me say that again. Amazing book. If you like mafia, reverse harem, strong FMC than go pick this book up. This book totally blew me away. Em is such a strong, independent, take no crap, completely confident in herself and decisions she makes kind of woman. My kinda woman. It’s nice to see a FMC take charge and her men follows her lead. What we all need in life lol. I just love her men Declan, Hector and Silas. I will most definitely read more books from Ms. Lindsay Reign. Although that cliffhanger kills me. I NEED book 2 asap. Like yesterday. Pick this book up. You won’t be disappointed. Thank you for an amazing book. Loved it. For a debut book I could not ask for a better book.
I will start with saying this was freaking PHENOMENAL! I will also add as a winky note to the author, I truly hope the harem grows cause I'm routing for it to! Because, omg, that would be epic. This is a delicious beginning to a series, and I became obsessed very quickly. The twists and turns in the plot are epic and leave you wanting more. Seriously, I was unable to sleep because I absolutely needed to know what happened next. It will keep you gripping your seat for more. The plot, the ANGST, the surprises, and the spice will keep you deliciously addicted. I can not wait for book #2 because OMG, THAT CLIFFHANGER was BRUTAL!!!!!
First time reading from this author, and I was pleasantly surprised. I did read the book as an arc reader, so there was the expected repeated chapter or random typo. But overall, I loved the book! Can't wait for the second 😍 the spice in the prologue had me hooked. Plus all the flashbacks of how things happened to get to where our Mc's are today. I did appreciate the warning of it ending on a cliffy, and that it did! Miss ma'am excuse me that was dirty tsk tsk. But I also see how you left that open question of how her right hand can slide into that situation with ease now.
