Kept me going

The daily lesson was simple and short. In my morning devotions I always started with this book so that if my time was cut short I had at least accomplished this much.

Written by various women, this e-book offers a short reading from the Bible for each day, and then some personal commentary or thoughts related to the reading and to the overall theme for the month concerned. Each devotion ends with a prayer, some of which I found helpful and encouraging.

Inevitably the quality and relevance of the commentaries are variable; sometimes I found myself nodding and agreeing, other times shaking my head in bewilderment at some cultural or other reference that meant nothing to me. The book is American, after all, and I am not.

I don’t think I learned anything new from this book, or had any tremendous insights, but I was reminded more than once of something important. I appreciated the time given by the women who put this book together, and I liked having little insights into their very different homes and lives.

I didn't read it according to the dates, but mostly picked it up when travelling as my Kindle is so light and easy to pack. I liked not being tied to dates; but it would probably work more effectively as once-a-day readings starting in January.

I liked this devotional a lot. I didn't start it at the beginning of the year though and I read a little bit of the beginning to see if I liked it and then skipped to the right month. The problem though with the devotionals that has all the months of the year and you read an entry each day is that I start off consistantly reading each day but then after a while I end up getting behind. So, a couple times I skipped ahead to the right month. But, I did like the devotional and I liked how their would be a little prayer at the end of the entries. I also thought that the writers did a pretty good job of connecting everyday moments with moments of Faith.

I really wanted to get back into a daily devotional habit this year, and tried a few different options before I came across this one. Many were too light, meeting the 1-2 page requirement and having the obligatory Bible verse, but without being thought-provoking: the equivalent of a daily granola bar as a "healthy" breakfast alternative.

This, however, is quite different. The writers talk about some hard issues, and I often find myself pondering the verse, the interpretation or the accompanying text later on in the day.

A simple yet thoughtful guide for understanding God's word.

Though not always profound or poignant, this book assists in explaining our walk with the Trinity. The author uses her daily mundane experiences to reveal God's word. Though sometimes simplistic, the author utilizes Scripture to reinforce who and what Jesus Christ and being a Christian is.. I appreciate the author's honesty and clarity.

A Wonderful Daily Read

This Devotional Book was something to look forward to every morning. I included it in my daily readings for praise and worship. I also shared many of the writings with my church family; we even had discussions on some of the content. God's Moments: A Year in the Word is a wonderful daily read to help keep your mind clear and focused on God.
