In this book, I felt like it was somewhat like a love letter from a parent to a kid, that had dreams, wishes and a lot of imagination and I am a sucker for love! I love, love actually and my parents and I have a great relationship so this one hit home. Throughout the book they had some poetry in there that came out as poetic reflections, the lines in the book all started with "If I could" and that showed the authors desire to give the child everything from the moon to the stars and fairy tales and mermaid songs! I can relate to this so much because my parents want to give me the world as well and they do their best to, despite the hiccups that come along the way. I think that all parents should aim to give their best to their children and want the best for their kids as well. I think the strongest theme in the book was unconditional love and my family is big on love; it fuels everything we do and pushes us to keep going every day. Without my family, I don't know where I would be especially after we experienced so much trauma in such a short time so reading about the love in this book kept me engaged even more. The author talked about devotion parents feel for their children and incorporated imagination and wonder as well which made the book even more engaging. This was a wow book for me because it touched on my deeper emotions with simple words that stuck and still came off powerful. The poetry and illustrations made the book pop more and showed the warmth through the book, The book did more than tell a story.. It pulled on your heart strings as well.

Two literary devices used were repetition and symbolism. Repetition was used with the "If I could" line being repeated throughout the book and it emphasized the focus the author was trying to tap into. The symbolism was shown with the moon, fairy tales, and songs show the love and imagination. This book is anti bias because it shows the message on love, dreams and social boundaries. They also show that love and imagination are experiences we share with one another even when we have different upbringings and backgrounds. The book was inclusive and enjoyable to read.
