It’s the fifth day of Christmas, and five gold rings are missing.

The Cotswolds, December, 1928. Gertrude Aston has always made a great show of her wealth, so when she’s seen at the card table without her rings, there has to be a reason. Aunt Bathsheba is intrigued, so Georgiana is asked to get to the bottom of it. Just the job for the festive season; what could be more relaxing than a glass of ginger wine, a game of rummy and a couple of pertinent questions?

But theft turns to murder as Mrs Aston is dealt a bad hand – and a plate of marzipan fruits is incriminated. The Christmas season has lost its shine – can Mrs Mortimer restore its lustre?

Georgiana Mortimer shuffles the cards in Book 7 of the Mrs Mortimer Mystery series – with the aid of her eccentric family, curious friends and Crumpet, her boundless terrier. Set in the frosty Cotswolds, ‘Death Midwinter’ is a charming Christmas mystery.
Escape to the 1920s in this playful page turner, perfect for fans of Agatha Christie and Downton Abbey.

The murder mystery was good, but I am so disappointed that Henry is being written out of the series. I loved how they met in the stable originally when she kissed him in the dark. I thought they would become romantically involved.
