Mia Lark gets set on an impossible mission, the last step to complete the Divine Quest. Time is ticking to finish her two temples remaining, the Endless Waves and the Evergreen Forest. Attacks from uncontrollable monsters cause a mass exodus from Revivium, and the shuttle system is down in most areas because of flying monsters.
Yet, she must get to both these temples before time runs out. Assigned a mandatory support team that she can’t trust, Mia must embark on her hardest quest yet. Befriend the Guardians and get them to help Revivium.
That’s all that stands in her way for the coveted favor and compilation of the Divine Quest.
Stubborn Protector is the fourth book in this series, and it continues the story of the main character, that doesn't do anything to grow the guild she's the guildmaster for in this one, nor does she explore a whole lot of the mysteries she wants answers to. That's ok though, because some of those answers fall into her lap. Her journey to complete one of the trial areas shows her things she doesn't understand, but that should be clear to anyone who's been paying attention. For the most part, the story is pretty good, fewer consistency errors in this one, so that's good, but unfortunately, this book doesn't settle a whole lot for the reader. It does bring up a whole lot more questions though, including about things we weren't in the know about before, so I don't think the next book is the final one in the series, unless some serious endgame comes about, so I'd say look forward to even more books in the series (only one more at this point in time). I've already checked it out via KU, and intend to start reading it after I finish this review. I like this series, it's interesting, and engaging.
I really like this series and this book did not disappoint. It was interesting to learn more about Revivium's history and the history of not only the AI but of Hex. The MC in the story is very stubborn and persistent and will get to the bottom of things. Because of her prior interaction with the stone she has become a guardian of Revivium and meets with the other guardians to ultimately try and protect the people and get rid of the corruption without having to take the life of an innocent. I am really looking forward to reading the next book.
