Released is the final book in Releasing the Magic series by Maya Riley.
It is so relieving to finally finally reach the end for this series because it was getting progressively worse and I was getting so annoyed by dimwit Blyss and her equally idiotic guys. Honestly their decision making skills were so so bad that I am amazed all of them survived till the end.
Dr. Crane was aptly named crazy by them and his hunger for power was so absurd and out of the world that I had a difficult time coming to terms with all the crazy things he came up with in order to reach his goal. The clones miraculously changing their mind about whose side they were on upon witnessing people fighting for the good cause was again something I had a hard time swallowing.
Then there was the whole baby drama and honestly was this even the book for that!!? I mean we are talking the end of the world and all the MCs are busy getting sappy about how they want a baby? Get a grip people.
This annoyed me so very much at so many times but there were just a couple of elements that I liked especially about how magic will disappear with a few generations.
*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.
OMG this finale was totally amazing!! We finally get to see how this all plays out for Blyss, Puppy, and the gang. Action packed from start to finish you will not be able to put it down until you hit the very last page. It blew my mind will all that happened while wrapping up all the remaining threads that were going on. One explosive battle to say the least. A must read series for fans of apocalyptic reverse harem. I totally loved it so I give it 5/5 stars.
While the series may have started decent enough, personally they got sequentially worse. For me it’s the heroine-she’s about as bright as a bag of rocks. How she’s even survived this long in the apocalypse baffles the mind but then again a lot of it has to do with her healing abilities. This rotter riddled world is finally free from some of the series biggest enemies, some in a more violent and earned way than others. Another thing that really took away from the book was all the random coincidences that did not add up. It’s one thing to have a story and characters that are barely relatable but a whole other to create an environment where everything just works out too perfectly. One glaring example is the baby situation at the end. Disappointed as I was really looking forward to this zombie RH. While I finished it out and remained fairly engaged, the heroine and all the ‘miracles’ did nothing but take away anything decent about the story.
As sad as I am t know this journey is over and I'll get no more books in this series, it ended beautifully. Everything was wrapped up perfectly and I couldn't ask for more. Well..maybe a small novella in the future catching up with Blyss and all her guys. Just to see how they're doing now, how it's going with Jenny, and how all the side characters are faring. This really was an absolutley amazing series!
Loved this series! Each book picks up where the last left you. Great characters that keep your attention and grow throughout the series. The storyline is so jam packed with action, adventure, magic, zombies and heat- what more could you ask for! I look forward to reading the next adventure this author can throw my way ❤️👍
I'm not a huge review type of person in fact it takes a pretty good book or series for me to leave a review, on that note I will encourage you if you like apocalypse stories an u like reverse harem then you'll want to read this series. I honestly couldn't put it down an now im sad I've read them all an its over
So, I liked the way it ended....and the little twist/surprise about what some of them came up with. I didn't expect that. I liked all the scientific/magical facts. The world building was good. Characters were differentiated well from each other. The pacing kept the story interesting. There was spice too.... Overall, I enjoyed reading this.
Even though this series is one you want to go on forever; it ended beautifully. I loved that Blyss got her HEA. There was no ending just a new beginning.
This series was so thoroughly entertaining from start to finish. I just loved the characters and the chaotic world Maya created. This was a world where I found myself drawn to in order to see what would happen in the final battle. I was not left wanting.
The beginning of the book was a little slow for me but about 30% in, I was hooked. This was a great finale for the characters I have come to know and love. I am so glad I got to take this journey with Blyss and the gang.
I love this series. The story and the characters have been on one hell of a journey. I have been captivated and totally immersed in this series. The series is now complete and I am sad the series is at an end but damn was it one fantastic series.
I loved this series. I hate to see it end. I’d like to know how Blyss, the guys her siblings and Jenny are doing now. This was really really amazing. If you haven’t read the series yet get to it.
I’ve read well over 200 books now, constantly searching for that high of never being able to put a book/series down and boy, I found it in this series, I’m at honestly in love with these books and cannot wait to read more from maya!
I really enjoyed this series, even though I am not one for running on books. It is well written, imaginative and an all around wonderful read. I sat and read them all in the same day!
I love Puppy! I love everyone else too. But Puppy is what kept making me come back to the bond again and again. Hats off to Maya for a wonderful series.
Maya Riley is awesome!!!! This series were the first books of hers that I have read and I’m hooked. I’ve read the entire series in two weeks and I can’t wait to read more from her.
Thoroughly recommend this author. All her series have strong characters & detailed plots. Genuinely cant put them down until I finish all the available books.
Yes, the last books are not as good as the first ones, but it's so, so difficult to find good, decent dystopias out there, that I can't help but be happy I found this.
Overall, the series was fast-paced and pretty interesting from a plot POV, there were some side characters that I absolutely loved (especially the 'puppy'), and it was well enough written that it kept me curious and engaged until the end. Yes, the characters weren't perfectly built and there were some gaps here and there, but frankly, the writing was good enough for me to bypass them and not care.
Great work author, I'll look for more stuff from you!
As far as a Franken-story goes, this wasn't that bad. It had a touch of every genre. As I said in my review for book one. You've got apocalypse, zombies, lab created experiments, clones, magic, special powers, scavengers, cult communities, animals with abilities, mysterious nature people, a little romance and drama... It's a reverse harem series, but this is why I don't give it high ratings. The romance and sensual scenes are a major let down. And by the end of the series, you can tell there's one man the MFC chooses more often than any of the others. And speaking of the MFC, she is not all that. She is always getting kidnapped or hurt. She always needs saving. All the way to the end. It gets to a point where I am just like, 'oh just let her be killed and start over with one of her clones'. I would give it just 3 basic stars, but I like the bit at the end about the cure...
Devestated that this series is over. I feel like i have been with Blyss every step of the way. Every sweat, blood stained second of it. Blyss is such an amazing character, she does not let her past stop her and her compassion in the face of all she has experienced is astounding. The Black Moon company must burn and Blyss is the only one who can do this. This book is amazing. The series is fantastic and well worth the heartache you will feel through this.
