"Cathryn Fox has this unique way of grabbing your attention, holding on to it and then wanting more. She weaves this incredible story and takes you to a whole new world for a time. This story is mind blowing, things that you would not expect to happen, happen...you won't want to stop reading until you are done!!" 5 Stars M. Bass, Amazon Reviewer.

I need a favor, and there’s only one guy I’d dare ask.

Conner Birch.

Boston Buck’s right winger.

Not only is he my best friend, he’s my brother-in-law…and the man I’ve always loved.

The problem is, he never loved me back.

What I want might make things more awkward, and I can’t risk our friendship, but…after losing my husband—Conner’s brother—this is my only chance at the life I’ve dreamed of.

Everything about our arrangement is risky, and when things heat up, it becomes harder and harder to hide what I feel.

Soon enough, playing house becomes all too real, and I begin to think we might have a chance at a future.

Until I find out the man I’m in love with might not be the friend I thought he was…

Not only does it have hockey, there are also puppies! Our hero is a total cinnamon roll and our heroine is a complete sweetie, and like everyone in the story, I was so happy they finally got together. But, like all things, there is something from the past they are both holding onto that could ruin it all. What I truly loved was how they figured things out without being told, that they knew each other, loved one another, so well, to do that <3

If you hate ow drama, skip this book.

Story starts with H's brother calling him to take his wife (h) to her OB since he's too busy fucking his side piece. H being a good little toy that he is takes her, only to find out she's losing the baby. And boom brother dies leaving h a widow.

Does H have a heart expose his cheating scum of a brother to his supposed 'best friend'? Nope. He keeps the secret well hidden for 2 years.

h wants a baby old fashioned way and she wants his dna specifically since he is dead hubby's brother. H agrees and they get down to business fucking anytime and every time all the while talking about her dead husband (who is still a great man acc to her and he never bothers to correct her)

** spoilers ahead ** don't go in if you don't want me to spoil it for you

We meet a ow who is H's ex at a party. She's weird about seeing H and h together and says something rude and unpleasant but h ignores her. He runs into his ex at another place where she's with her kid and hears her laughing and gets a lightbulb moment that her voice matches the same voice he heard on phone with his brother the day he died.

Surprise surprise his brother's side piece was none other than his gf at the time, who not only cheated on him but also had his brother's kid. Does he atleast come clean to h about his brother's cheating now? NOPE.

H meets the bitch of a ow in secret, wants to 'include' the kid in the family because he's all that's left of his slut brother. Not once does he think of h. The horrible ow is all sad, guilty and remorseful (that must be a joke cause she was the same person who saw h at a party and was rude to her face) and H feels sorry for her. He hides all this from h who then finds their messages in his phone and sees him in the arms of ow comforting her.

Now atleast does he have regrets about not exposing his whorish brother? NOPE. He stands by his behaviour. h being the doormat that she is gives in because "he hid it all for her and to protect her" 🥺🥺🥺 Bitch, you're delusional, he was protecting his brother, not you.

Epilogue ends in them all being one happy little family with H, his parents and doormat h, ow and her kid 🤡🤡🤡

Dani Birch had had a great life, happily married to Alec Birch, pregnant with their child, successful doggy day care, and no matter what her best friend (and brother in law) Connor was there with her every step of the way. Then just like that Alec and the baby were taken from her on the same night. Now 2 years later she is ready to move on in more ways than one and Connor might just be the answer to all of them. Will she be willing to take the chance and see that together they are a great fit? Or will her heart get broken again.

Connor Birch would always be protective of Dani until the day he died. After all she was his best friend, sister in law and the woman he had always been in love with. So when she asked him for a favor, he grabbed it, hoping that maybe she would finally see how much he loves her. But then the past and some startling secrets come back and might just tear the couple apart.

This is the next book in the Boston Buck series and while the characters from other books are in it, you can read it as a stand alone. Cathryn Fox has this unique way of grabbing your attention, holding on to it and then wanting more. She weaves this incredible story and takes you to a whole new world for a time. This story is mind blowing, things that you would not expect to happen, happen. So make sure you are ready for it aka clear your calendar because you won’t want to stop reading until you are done!!

Thank you to the author for giving me an ARC and the chance to give my honest opinion.

Conor Birch is a NHL player for the Boston Bucks. His best friend since high school is Dani Birch, his older brother’s widow.
This is a best friends to lovers story with several twists you really don’t see coming!
Cathryn Fox has done it again. Beautifully written with characters you can’t help but become invested in, and a storyline that will keep you reading into the night!

I quite enjoyed this story. It has loss, love, romance, passion, friends and puppies. What more could you ask for?
