The intriguing "Captive of the Prince" book "Bury Me Deep" combines political intrigue with MM fantasy romance. At the center of this tale is the relationship between Sébastien and Remus, which changes from mistrust to a complex bond as they negotiate dangerous situations. The tension that is created by Sébastien's guarded demeanor and Remus's difficulties with trust keeps readers interested. The book explores the intricate relationships between loyalty, love, and power in a world where survival is not assured. The two main characters' slow-burning romance is captivating as their emotions grow stronger in the face of danger. The world the author creates is vivid and dangerous, with every choice having the potential to be life or death. Readers will be drawn into the twists and turns of the plot, eager to see if Sébastien and Remus can not only survive but also find a way to be together despite their kingdoms' enmity. The story's blend of action, romance, and fantasy elements makes it a must-read for fans of the genre. "Bury Me Deep" is a thrilling continuation of the series, leaving readers eagerly anticipating the next chapter in Sébastien and Remus’s journey.
This is an excellent book. The author took their time and did not rush the development of the characters and their romance. The world building is also great and the story kept me wanting more. At the same time, there are some issues.
First, the slave abuses could have been more vivid. The only slave scene that really had any impact was the werewolf pup. Mythological fairies and elves can be brutal creatures, so that should have been reflected in the narrative.
Second, the characters are fairies, but i feel the author chickened out on giving them an awesome culture. They are called fairies, but in reality, they were just humans with a tiny bit of magic.
I would have suggested investing a little bit more on the fairy world. Make them more ethereal. Also, explain a bit more about why the princes’ get to rule. They should have more baseline power and additional attributes that make them stand apart from their subjects. Maybe they should have been the only charters with magic.
All in all a good story, but to me the many elements are really lacking and appears to only be superficial. With some tweaks, this could have been masterful epic.
Remus And Sébastien's journey continues right where book one left off. Now their journey takes them to a new place, away from the regent/Sébastien's uncle.
With the new change in location the danger still remains the same for the young prince but he also finds answers to questions he's had for a long time, what happened to their fathers, who poisoned them and why? But answers and danger aren't the only things for the princes. Sébastien beings to soften towards Remus, slowly, as they grow closer. With his freedom Remus decides to stay with the prince until he is safe and then will look to his home.
Changes left and right from feelings, answers and danger. The end of the book will have you waiting for the next chapter to see what happens to the princes on their next journey and where the end of the road leads them.
I found myself drawn into the tense alliance between Sébastien and Remus as they navigate betrayal and danger to reclaim their thrones. The slow-building tension between them adds an interesting layer to their fight for survival, leaving me curious about where their relationship might lead if they can achieve peace. It's a great read with just the right mix of action and emotional depth.
