“Earthstar(Ji9star), do you by any chance like me?”
In the MMORPG game ‘Illusion,’ a newcomer named Neutaaaa (Lee Yeo-woon) applies to join the guild but was unexpectedly attacked by Ji9star (Yoon Ji-gu). Before the shock of the attack wears off, Ji9star abruptly changed his attitude and asked Neutaaaa to accept his apology, even proposing to be a couple…?
Meanwhile, Yeo-woon unexpectedly met a grumpy male neighbor when he moved to a new house after getting a job.
Ji9star and Neutaaaa, and Yoon Ji-gu and Lee Yeo-woon. What will be the end of these two conflicting relationships?
Gaming BLs are fun till you realise MTL strips most of the humor and the misnomer of characters. But I love a calm/older gong x young/clumsy shou and it had some of the hilarious romantic scenes. I would love to read those chapters in manhwa soon.
Haven't read the novels but I just finished s1 of the manwha and I LOVED IT SO MUCH. The mc and ml are so refreshing and cute, and the gaming humor had me laughing out loud. Truly cannot wait for s2 of the manwha and maybe one day being able to own a physical copy of this series!
Started this after seeing a cute edit of them online, and I will say this is an extremely cute romance.
The gimmick is a bit cheesy but it’s pulled off by the author well, as Ji-un’s past prevents him from getting close to the new neighbor Yeo-woon who just happens to be his in game partner, hence ‘Guild member next door’. Even though I’m not a fan of the actual game they’re playing in the manhwa, it’s still entertaining to watch the guilds fight, Yeo-woon growing closer with his guild mates, and Ji-un who once mocked him in the beginning but now is married to him in game lmao.
The plot of Ji-un’s past is very interesting too, and a very real thing that happens to people that the other doesn’t downplay, actually taking into consideration the effect it would have on the character and how others react to him. Additionally, since they’re neighbors of course they’d have to interact with each other, with their first ones being strangely funny as they grow a different type of bond outside the game, texting each other in game without knowing they’re seriously next door.
I’d definitely recommend to anyone who wants a cute romance, although after chapter 50 it will get more serious lmao, there’s also a side couple in the guild that has their own separate story.
This is really cute. A lot of this story so far is in game. I am hoping we will see more irl scenes for season two. When it comes to mmorpg games I really liked how the book made the clear distinction that having a guild in beneficial and opens up a lot of different gameplays/events. It even touched briefly on roles and expectations, and how healers get blamed most of the time. I am looking forward to the next season.
This is a very slow burn. I'm 60+ chapters in and still kind of waiting for something exciting to happen. Still, the intersection of real life and virtual life misunderstandings and parallels is engaging and fun. I laugh pretty regularly. When we eventually get to the promise of the prologue (them actually meeting IRL) I think it will be very satisfying.
I read the novels and s1 of the manhwa. I definitely recommend reading the manhwa for this one as a lot of the humor that got lost in translation through text is restored by visual gags! It's very funny and pretty cute, and I loved that there was a lot of screentime dedicated to developing the friendships between MC and his guildmates (the side characters were super charming!) but the whole BDSM misunderstanding aspect felt unrealistic and unnecessarily dragged out. A funny concept to be sure, but it fell a little flat.
If you’re not into video games, don’t bother reading this. 90% of the story revolves around the game, with very little real interaction between the characters. It’s an extremely slow burn, and the romantic interest feels completely one-sided.
I read the whole novel and read the S1 manhwa. I died laughing so many times - they both share one brain cell or something, so stupid. I love gaming BLs, and the manhwa art is so good. 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
