I’m going to be honest, I despised this book. We have Rebecca who stays in her hometown to take care of her family and Miguel who goes off to pursue his dreams so they break up after about a year of him being gone. They are forced to see each other three years later for their best friends wedding and reconnect.
So I read some other reviews of this book and I’m surprised that so many people were blaming Rebecca for not hearing Miguel out. I’m sorry, but if I flew to see my boyfriend, emotional, vulnerable, and pregnant, to have some woman in his jersey and NOTHING ELSE open the door, and him shirtless, and her being a witch about it, I’d dip too. He wasn’t answering her calls (who can’t answer a phone call when they’re studying????) and considering he had time to party, crazy to me why he’d think she wouldn’t react and that he should just let her go as if SHE hadn’t always been there for HIM. He repeatedly blames her for walking away, but nowhere does he take accountability for what she walked in on.
Literally, there is ZERO understanding and remorse except some off handed comment way at the END about how he should’ve walked the woman back to her room. Then he even admits he wouldn’t have trusted him either if he were in her shoes. Like……grovel should’ve started at the beginning of the 400+ pages even if nothing happened. For walking away from her, letting her think he cheated, not being there for her, for putting her in the position of having to witness another woman half naked in his dorm in the shirt SHE usually wore. Explanation or not, it was on HIM to make sure she listened if she meant that much to him. Instead, HE let her walk. And I’m not talking a phone call, or a text message, I’m talking going after your childhood best friend and supposed “love of your life”. Instead he claims he didn’t have time, but he DID have time to party and drink though. OH OK.
That girl had so so so much on her shoulders and honestly? Even though it’s great Miguel chased his dreams, he comes off incredibly selfish and self centered for a lot of this book, throwing himself pity parties. He ruined it for me especially because he didn’t redeem himself. I tried to remind myself he was only 22, but truthfully, my 8 year old has more maturity.
How are we not getting an apology from him until 70%? Like…I’ll repeat, “working” on a project half naked!?!?! They make libraries and study rooms on campuses. There is truly just no excuses for him and he treats her like legit crap this WHOLE book. No grovel, just him whining. Then he leaves her again, knowing what she’s going through with her family, for WEEKS. And HE isn’t even the one who goes after her! SHE goes after him! Granted sure he does have some weird inner monologue saying he’s going to go after her ironically at the game she attends but I actually hated the fact it was her.
He had absolutely no sympathy or compassion for her when he finds out about the miscarriage. Oh no, he actually leaves her standing there crying. Goes days without talking to her after that. When he does apologize, she’s apologizing too and I’m SO confused as to why. He was probably my least favorite hero I’ve read in a LONG time. I could go on and on about my complaints because trust me there was more but I’ll just leave it here.
The ONLY good things about this book were the fact that he stayed celibate and Rebecca actually did sleep with someone else, it’s always the opposite so I appreciated the difference. Finally, I DID appreciate Rebecca’s character apart from her interactions with Miguel. She was so selfless and it was great to see how successful she became on her own and how she (unlike some people) put those she loved first. I gave it two for these two reasons only. Overall though Miguel can go suck a duck.
Hero was an entitled, selfish narcissist. He never cared about putting himself in the heroine’s shoes. He left and lived his best life while she struggled and put her own life and dreams on hold and then had the audacity to feel like he’s the injured party. It’s been a long time since I read about a hero so revolting as a human being. You can’t love someone and not care about their wellbeing or try to do even the bare minimum to be there for them and be someone who they care rely on as a safe space. Heroine needed to move on to someone who has the ability to love their partner more or as much as they love themselves.
No, it shouldn’t. When a book with a celibate hero for three whole years who’s also a nfl player deserves a one star rating, it’s bad. Really bad. High school sweethearts, he wants to leave to play football and be drafted, she refuses to stay at home with her mother and her lil brother. She goes to visit him and finds an almost naked girl in his dorm with his shirt on. She leaves, he doesn’t follow. Three years later he’s back for his bff wedding, he’s all grumpy and conceited because she wouldn’t listen. Ok. She should have, of course. But who wouldn’t react that way if they found their bf / gf with another person semi naked in their dorm? He should have been the one to follow her and should have stopped her and forced to hear his reasons. He simply let her go, and she had a flight to catch. I hated this guy, with all my heart. It was all me me me again. He chose to leave, so the heroine should have gone with him or else. He chose not to follow her and explain, so it’s her fault. It’s always about him, what he wants and it’s all other people’s fault, his father’s because he told him to leave, the heroine’s because she was bad, the friends because… just because. Whatever. The heroine’s had a shitty life, her mother was showing signs of Alzheimer’s disease and she couldn’t leave. When he’s back the heroine has issues with her mother, with her brother who came back wounded, and his father has a heart attack. And he leaves, because you know, booohooo. And when the heroine’s reveals that she was preggo when she went to see him and saw ow in his dorm and lost the child afterwards he’s so angry with her. Not sympathetic, not sorry, just angry with her because she didn’t tell him. FY. I wouldn’t want him back coated in gold. Oh, and cherry on top. She is the one to go back to him and to apologize because she pushed him away. He never even wanted to come back. Please. No way. The level of desperation this woman has for a man, is second hand embarrassing.

DNF @ 20% - I didn’t like the hero - he spends too much time feeling sorry for himself and blaming everyone else for his troubles. He seems very passive. Blaming the h for leaving him when it’s obvious he screwed up and didn’t bother to set things straight in 3 years. You’re gonna let your best friend and love of your life walk out of your life (without ever once checking on her) believing you cheated on her and blaming HER for leaving YOU ??? What kinda jackass is that self centered?? I was bored because the book didn’t seem to be moving anywhere and I was annoyed. So I went review diving and discovered the H never takes responsibility for anything and the h has to go chasing him after the 3rd act separation. 😒😐 I think she’s been through enough. What a passive dud.
Oh and the h sleeps with someone else during the relatively short 3 year separation (Before the book starts), and that really ruins it for me. Even tho this loser H didn’t deserve her celibacy… still messes it all up. The H stays celibate. (Yeah right. 🙄)
So I’m out.

It Should Have Been Us is the first book in the Bluebonnet Creek series. This is small town, second chance, childhood friends to lovers, football hero, “it’s always been you” romance. This was my first read by this author and I really enjoyed it and would read more in the future!
Rebecca and Miguel were high school sweethearts and now they’re both back in their small town at the same time for a mutual friend’s wedding…he’s the best man to her maid of honor. Miguel never wanted to return to his hometown after leaving after high school graduation. He is now a successful NFL player but back in town for his best friend’s wedding. Now he’s around his dad, who he has a complicated relationship with (his dad doesn’t see football as an actual career, just a “hobby” or sport to play), and his ex love-of-his-life Rebecca.
We see early on in a flashback that Miguel got a scholarship for football and was ready to leave their small town (and his father) behind, but Rebecca couldn’t leave because of her family. We see flashbacks throughout the story of their childhood friendship and relationship, and that definitely added to the emotional depth of their story. I liked the forced proximity of being around one another while he’s in town for the wedding. They end up getting thrown together a lot with their friends’ wedding errands, like cake testing together. And all those old feelings end up resurfacing along the way!
I received an ARC from the author, all thoughts in this review are my own.
Be prepared to have ALL the feels when you read Becky and Miguel's story! We first met them in Kiss Me First (Emmett and Katherine) when they were in high school and now they are grown up! There is a gap from their senior year/graduation to the present day where A LOT has taken place. Anna B. Doe does a fantastic job of weaving the past throughout the story so that we see why Becky and Miguel are the way they are today. Be prepared for heartache and heartbreak but there is also an abundance of spicy tension. I can't wait to see which story is next!
Four years ago, Miguel left Bluebonnet Creek, his family and Rebecca – his childhood best friend and then girlfriend, to follow his dreams, make a name for himself and earn a place in the NFL. One year later, things between him and Rebecca fell apart and they broke up.
Now three years after their breakup, Miguel is back in town for two weeks, to attend their best friend's wedding.
All plans of being able to avoid him fly out the window when Rebecca realizes that not only is he attending, but he's a part of the wedding as the best man while she is the maid of honor.
The more Rebecca tries to avoid him, the more they keep running into each other. And every encounter chips away a little bit of her resolve to keep the boy who broke her heart at a distance and the secrets she's kept from coming out.
REVIEW: Starting of with the things I didn’t like: Certain parts were repetitive in the first half. Rebecca's attitude in the first half really got on my nerves and I didn’t like her character. Every person in town going on and on about how Miguel will have to answer to them if he hurts Rebecca again. And they don't even know the reason why these two broke up in the first place. How Rebecca kept throwing jabs at Miguel while he wasn't even talking to her and then getting upset and leaving when he gave back. The conflict that led to them breaking up in the past could've been avoided if Rebecca had just stopped and heard him out. Miguel was getting all this hate from the people in town for the break up and a lot of comments about becoming a hotshot football player in the city. I didn't like the way his father and brother treated Miguel in the first half.
Now for the things I liked: Things pick up during the second half of the book once the conflicts and secrets are out of the way. I liked reading about the longing between these two characters, and how they found their way back to each other in spite of everything that they were dealing with. The friendships in this book was amazing to read about and how they all had each other's backs. Totally loved the football game between friends. The date at the fair was extremely sweet n made me happy. And I liked the way things turned around with Miguel's family in the second half.
I did feel bad for Rebecca and what she was dealing with at home. It couldn’t have been easy for her. And I wanted to hug Miguel for how alone he must have felt after their breakup.
I loved the hints at possible future couples in the series throughout the book and I'm looking forward to reading about them. We get a glimpse of who the next book will be about at the end and I'm excited for it.
"... she was the Sun, and I was the one circling around her this whole time, needing her warmth and her light. Her love. I needed her love like I needed air to breathe" -Miguel Fernandez
Get ready to be heartbroken! Anna B. Doe brings beautiful angst in her small town, frenemies to lovers, second chance romance called It Should Have Been Us! Miguel and Rebecca's story will definitely make your heart ache is the most amazing way possible. The writing of Anna B. Doe will slice through your heart's defense but she will put back the pieces too.
NFL star Miguel Fernandez never thought he will come back to Bluebonnet. Even for a short period to attend his best friend's wedding as the best man. Because this town holds nothing but pain sometimes. A father who never agreed to his choice. A family who doesn't show love, except his mother. And the red headed beauty who didn't let him explain before walking out on him, taking away a large chunk of his heart permanently. Rebecca has way too much on her plate and the last thing she needs to face the man who broke her heart. But fate has brought them together again.
The story goes back and forth in timeline showing glimpses of how Miguel and Rebecca became best friends and then soulmates and how Miguel moving to Austin to fulfill his football dreams started the ending. It was an impossible situation really. Right Person, Wrong Time. For years. Rebecca is so sweet and loving and with the biggest bleeding heart. She wants to carry everyone's burden alone. Her sick mother, her bookish cafe, her injured ex military older brother, her absent younger brother..she is just under so much pressure. She didn't want to take away Miguel's dream but she also couldn't move away even after him asking repeatedly. They were each other's biggest support. The physical distance put emotional distance between them and then came the misunderstanding. My heart was so heavy. There was so much grief and pain between them but the love was never lost. Coming back to the town brought back Miguel's insecurities but also the regret of losing the best thing in his life. It's a super slow burn with delicate back and forth at every step. There are a lot to unpack. Miguel had to grovel and get back into Rebecca's good graces. She has shut her heart down but she never pushed Migeul away completely. I love a hero who is caring and possessive and protective and sweet and yet has his own flaws. The small town is a fabulous set up. This story has extensive secondary characters, some are old and some are new and I could feel the author is setting up the next book. I loved the complex friends and family connection. This is a hard earned second chance. With raw and messy and sometimes toxic emotions. But it was a memorable love story.
This story has all the feels. You find an author you like. Next, you start reading their new series, and soon, you become invested and so immersed in the story that you feel like the characters are your friends and that you live in their world. The Blairwood/Bluebonnet Creak series is near and dear to my heart. My favorite stories are the kind that have a feisty heroine and a strong man who falls hard for her but cherishes her spunky spirit. This story of Miguel and Rebecca checked all of the boxes. I always enjoyed the tidbits I would get of this couple in the Blairwood/Bluebonnet Creek series. I was excited for their book. The wait was worth it because Rebecca and Miguel blew me out of the water. Much of the story hit close to home, and I think that’s what makes it so endearing and a precious yet timeless love story. It Should Have Been Us is a telling all on its own, but it gives me The Notebook vibes with the fighting and making up. I offer a standing ovation with all the stars on this fabulous read by Anna B. Doe.
“You can try to reason, but you and I both know that you were made for me. This is inevitable. We’re inevitable.”
If you’re looking for a heart wrenching second chance romance, definitely check out Anna B. Doe’s newest novel, It Should Have Been Us. This book will have readers in all the feels as Miguel and Rebecca are reunited after their breakup years prior!
Rebecca and Miguel go through A LOT in this book. Miguel’s family issues cause him to stay far away from Bluebonnet Creek. When he returns for his best friend’s wedding, not only does he face his family but also the one that got away. Throughout the book, he constantly tries to make his family proud and attempts to win back the love of his life. Rebecca is an extremely selfless character, who puts the needs of others before her own. With her mother being ill, she constantly takes care of her, refusing help from others. Besides Penny, Rebecca is my favorite Anna B. Doe FMC!
The plot of the book was so well written. It Should Have Been Us beautifully explains how love is always enough! Rebecca and Miguel’s story is both heartbreaking and heartwarming. Anna B. Doe did a wonderful job of intertwining her previous characters, which makes this book feel connected to the rest of the stories! Additionally, the book beautifully transitions from past to present as Miguel and Rebecca recall their relationship and make their way back to each other.
Anna B. Doe is one of my go to authors! She never disappoints!!! I highly recommend reading this incredible story!
✨️Second chance ✨️Forced proximity ✨️Small town ✨️It's always been you
This book made me feel like I was on an emotional rollercoaster. I think Anna B Doe did a great job capturing the characters' feelings—I felt like the story was happening to me.
Miguel and Rebecca are two complex characters, and despite the time apart, it's clear that the connection and love between them never faded. We have several moments of tension, heartache, and feelings of belonging to each other.
I really liked the characters. Despite everything Rebecca is going through, she's an amazing and strong woman. Miguel is so protective, and it's obvious how much he still loves and cares for Rebecca. I loved the growth they experienced throughout the story.
This is a great recommendation for fans of second chance romance.
*I received an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review, but all opinions are my own.*
Thank you so much, Anna B Doe, for sending me this ARC.
Amazing. Beautiful. Heartbreaking. Powerful. Lovely. Sexy. Wonderful. These are just a few keywords that come to my mind, after finishing this amazing first book in the new Bluebonnet Creek series. Small town, second chance, sports - my favorite tropes in a book.
Miguel comes back home to Bluebonnet after being absent for 4 years. He left home after a fight with his dad, and tried the long distance relationship with Rebecca, his first and only love. His rock. His soulmate. Due to a misunderstanding they break up, and had no contact since. Meanwhile Miguel is a professional footballer and is coming home for a couple of weeks, due to his best friends getting married. And he’s not only the best man, no, Rebecca is the maid of honor. So there’s no hiding of the past.
Anna B Doe gives us a heartbreaking, but also heartwarming story, and I’m loving all the small town vibes. They both have to make peace with their past, and there are lots of obstacles. Can they conquer each and every one of them?
I absolutely recommend this book. Loved it, cried along with the story, and smiled every time possible!
I kindly received an arc from the author and voluntarily left a review.
About It Should Have Been Us: 🌹 NA Small Town Romance 🏈 Sports Romance 👩❤️👨 Childhood Best Friend to Lovers 💍 Forced Proximity 🖤 Second Chance Romance 🥰 It's Always Been You
My high school sweetheart, the boy who shattered my heart, is back in our small town, and there will be no avoiding him for the next two weeks…
Only there is nothing boyish about Miguel Fernandez. The NFL’s best rookie defensive end is even more wickedly handsome than he was four years ago—tall, with abs for days, all that unruly hair, and eyes so dark they swallow you whole.
And that’s exactly what he’s doing every time our paths cross.
I shouldn’t let it affect me. After all, there was a good reason why we broke up in the first place. But no matter how much I try to put some distance between us, it’s impossible to stay away when our childhood friends are getting married.
Not only is he attending the wedding. He is in the wedding—the best man to my maid of honor. There will be no escaping the boy who destroyed me completely with his betrayal or stopping the secrets I kept from coming out…

I love a good second chance romance, throw in a small town and sports theme, and you’ve spoken my love language!! I am so in love with these characters, the struggles and adversities they face through the story, and what they overcome in order to find their happily ever after together. Miguel and Rebecca are high school sweethearts and soulmates. Those familiar with Anna’s other books may remember them from Kiss Me First, which is book one in her Blairwood University series. Miguel and Rebecca are best friends with Emmett (and later Kate). When college rolls around for Miguel, Rebecca chooses to stay in Bluebonnet Creek, wanting to look after her younger brother and mom, not follow Miguel to Michigan, where he was headed to play football. After a year of miscommunication and misunderstandings, Miguel and Becky’s relationship ends and Miguel doesn’t return for 3 years. Fast forward to that 3 years, and Miguel is living his dream playing in the NFL. He only returns to Bluebonnet for Emmett’s wedding. Rebecca has never left, staying to care for her mom and younger brother, and then later, her older brother. Rebecca shoulders the responsibility of keeping her family together, and has since she graduated from high school.
I feel for both of them, because they both shoulder some heavy burdens. Miguel has felt he’s never been good enough for his dad, and both his dad and brother give him a hard time when he finally comes home after being gone for 4 years.
Rebecca is so stubborn, she doesn’t know how to ask for help. She owns her own business, takes care of her mom, helps her older brother (when he lets her), but rarely asks others for anything. Especially when it comes to her mom, Becky’s life could’ve been so different if she would’ve asked for help, but she also had her reasons. She should’ve just confided to her best friend, Miguel.
The most frustrating thing about these two is their lack of communication lead to 3 years of lost time. But in that three years they both accomplished a lot, they just could’ve accomplished that together!
I loved the book. I loved being back in Bluebonnet Creek, and the storylines that we were being introduced to for other characters and future books. I’m so excited to see where Anna takes us with this series!
I loved this one... which at this point I expected nothing else.
I was wondering what will happen with Backy and Miguel while reading Kiss me first, but initially I did not know they were the protagonists of this one. Regardless, this story ended up being even more great than what I hoped. Becky and Miguel were an almost modern take on star crossed lovers, in which even though their stars seem to align through their childhood and thus become childhood sweethearts, their paths and insecurities are the ones keeping them apart and eventually breaking up. Dreams, expectations, family, but most of all, fear are the forces manipulating their lives in such a degree that they both lose theirselves as well as their love... until the wedding of their two best friends. Honestly, this story was heartbreaking and so deeply raw which was so lifelike, because the "villains" in this story are their egos and most of all, their fear.
Also, personally I loved the fact that even though Miguel did achieve his dream in the end he was never happy because he put it above everyone else, and in more ways than one the top is always a lonely place if you don't try to keep your people close to you as hard as you try to reach your goals.
ALSO THE SMUT WAS SO POSSESSIVE AND FULL OF PASSION 10/10
This was a fast paced quick read with a second chance trope. I liked Miguel as a character but Becca got on my nerves especially on the first half of the book. Their chemistry could have been better since I had a high expectation. The cameos from other characters were really good and I definitely look forward for Walker’s book since I liked him.
Anna B. Doe’s “It Should Have Been Us” is the first book in her Bluebonnet Creek small town romance series, and it’s Miguel and Becky’s story.
Miguel and Becky’s second chance/childhood best friends to lovers romance was very angsty, that’s for sure! I feel like there was a lot of mutual pining, too.
I had a hard time sympathizing with Miguel. He kept throwing himself pity parties, and I didn’t always agree with his decisions. I did appreciate how loyal he was to Becky, even when they were broken up.
However, I actually really loved Becky! She was such a kindhearted, and caring heroine. I also could relate to her struggles with her mom, as my grandfather has early onset Alzheimer’s as well.
Miguel and Becky had a lot to work through, but I’m glad they figured things out in the end. Anna B. Doe writes amazing romance novels, and I think you’ll love Miguel and Becky’s story if you’re fan of the forced proximity trope.
Tropes: • Childhood Best Friends to Lovers to Strangers to Lovers • Sports Romance • Small Town Romance • Second Chance Romance • Forced Proximity
I wanted to absolutely love this book, but there was something that was missing. I didnt like how Rebecca treated him in the first half of the book. A lot of things were repetitive and the book could have been shortened by a great number of pages. Yes the storyline, the small town vibes, the meddling friends were perfect but I felt the book went from "I DONT WANT ANYTHING FROM YOU" for 60% of the book to "I LOVE YOU" at 70%.
I do enjoy a Sport's Romance here or there, but unfortunately this is not it. It did take a while to finish. It was very immature and both characters did not handle certain situations well at all. When the first situation happened I was surprised to be honest having the author describe this couple as best friends and being in love. I honestly did not feel that from Miguel. He was quite self centered. Anyways, there are plenty of reviews that go into detail and I really can't be bothered. Lot's miscommunication. Or actually not communicating
If you want an in depth review of what happened I recommend you read Danielle Marie's review. She about covers everything that went down
It Should Have Been Us 🏈👩❤️👨 By: Anna B. Doe ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 🌶🌶 Bluebonnet Creek Series: Book #1 🏘 Small Town Romance 👩❤️👨 Childhood Best Friends to Lovers 🏈 Football Romance 🤞🏼Second Chance Romance
ARC Review: Thank you Anna B. Doe for sending me this ARC. This book has so many tropes included in one book. You’ve got a small town, childhood best friends to lovers, football, and second chance romance. Everything that I love!
This book is about Miguel who leaves his hometown to play college football then eventually plays for the NFL. He wants his gf Rebecca to follow but unfortunately she can’t for personal reasons. They break up but 3 years later he returns back home to Bluebonnet for his best friends wedding where he is the Best Man and Rebecca is the Maid Of Honor. Could you imagine what happens when they reconnect?
This book put me through so many emotions! I was laughing, squealing over Miguel and Rebecca’s relationship, yelling at certain characters, heartbroken to see what they each dealt with their families, and even tearing up at the ending. Becky and Miguel’s chemistry was phenomenal! You could feel it anytime they encountered each other. They always cared about each other and still continued to after all those years. I have a soft spot for Miguel because he went through family stuff that nobody was really aware of and I felt like he was shamed by his hometown for never returning back home. I felt like he was treated unfairly multiple times. Then there’s Becky who also has her family responsibilities that no one her age should have to deal with. It just proves how determined, strong, and independent both these characters are.
Seeing everything this couple went through and all the what if’s had me longing for them to end up back together. They had so many missed opportunities and I was just rooting for them the entire book!
This book was amazing and I can’t wait to read the next one in the series! I’m already intrigued. A single dad, one night stand, and accidental pregnancy?! What more could you want?
*This book is available on Amazon and Kindle Unlimited!*
"We were connected in a way I could never truly explain. That’s why it hurt so much when she walked away. It was like I lost a part of my very soul, and I didn’t know how to move on."
This is the first book in a new series and it's a second chance romance between childhood sweethearts. Miguel has just started to rise up in his career at the NFL and Rebecca is content with running her business in her small town. They've been apart for three years but now have to cross paths again for their mutual friends wedding. These two had history and I could really feel the chemistry between them. All the years of separation failed to severe the connection between them. They still cared about each other and old feelings were still there. Both of them didn't have anything easy in life, especially Rebecca who was dealing with so much all alone. But I was glad that they were able to figure out everything at the end because they were always meant to be together. I really liked the writing but sometimes the pacing felt slow and the story was being dragged tbh. I liked that Miguel & Rebecca were still so attached with each other but their relationship was nothing extraordinary. There was some angst and the side characters had their own stories, everything was good but not great. Also the reason behind Rebecca & Miguel's separation was pretty cliche and predictable. Overall, it was a nice book, I'd give it a solid 3.5 stars.
I absolutely tore through this book, it had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. I read it in two days, and when I wasn’t reading it, I was thinking about it. It totally captured me and I’m desperate for more in the series already!
Do make sure you check trigger and content warnings for this book.
Our main characters are Rebecca and Miguel, high school sweethearts who had a disastrous break up. Three years pass, and Miguel, a now famous NFL player, is back in their small town for the first time since the breakup.
There was so so much tension and angst in this story. The push and pull of our characters as they are still drawn to one another despite their falling out. It was an emotional romance that had me in a tornado of feelings. It was also so incredibly well written, keeping me engaged and enraptured in the story.
The moment the characters say “it should have been us” absolutely devastated me. It was too perfect and just wrecked me because yes. It should have been them.
Also the love confession?? Top tier. Gosh, it had me gasping and highlighting my book. I haven’t stopped thinking about those words.
There were so many sweet moments in this book amongst the angst. The dates, and their conversations were heartwarming and had me kicking my feet and giggling.
Of course there is also the spice, and it was so good. I felt like it was perfectly timed as well?? Perhaps a weird thing to say, but it just made sense in the story when it would happen. And it was delicious to read, I was blushing while reading it omg.
I cannot recommend this book enough. These characters will enrapture you and you won’t be able to stop.
Tropes: ✨Small Town ✨Sports Romance🏈 ✨Second Chance ✨ It’s Always Been You ✨Forced Proximity ✨Childhood Best Friends to Lovers
This was my first read by Anna B.Doe and she made me have all the feelings while reading this! You will want a box of Kleenex’s next to you because you’re going to need them! I was hooked, I wanted to know what happened. I am not going to lie tho the miscommunication was KILLING ME but that is mostly because I am not a fan of the miscommunication trope and I just wanted them to talk to each other! Other than that, I loved the story and the characters!
Miguel is a defensive end for the NFL who comes back to his hometown for his best friends wedding after staying away for 4 years. He knew he was going to run into Rebecca his ex who happens to be his childhood best friend. They are forced to be around each other because Miguel was the best man and Rebecca was the Maid of Honor. Miguel still doesn’t understand why she broke up with him other than the day she walked away from him.
I love Miguel and I was soo giddy every time he got jealous over a guy interacting to Rebecca. We love a jealous MMC! I also wanted to thank Anna B. Doe herself for the ARC!!
