Seven years ago Danielle Hamilton left her home in Serenity Cove leaving behind a drug addicted mother, work-obsessed Grandmother and the first boy she has ever loved. Danielle promised herself she would never return, but now - she has no choice. The family Inn her Grandparents put their lives into is going under and Danielle is the last hope they have to save it. When she temporarily returns to her home town, she’s even less prepared than expected to run into her first love, Oliver Garrison.
After their encounter leaves her on edge she decides what is really needed is a distraction. What she doesn’t expect is the way she feels when she meets Corey Preston with the bad boy edge, a gentle heart and smoking body.
Oliver is everything she thought she ever wanted while Corey is everything she never thought she needed.
Dani promised herself when she left Serenity Cove at 18 that never again, would this be her home. However, her heart didn’t get the memo and for the first time in her life, she feels at home.
But will her demons from the past let her have the love she deserves? Or will she return to her life in New York - once again leaving her heart behind in the one place she fears to be?
Let me ask a question....do you want to read the same old same old love story? The hot man meets the weak woman and tells her what she needs! If you do then this ISN'T the book for you....you need to pick something else! If your looking for a hot story with great characters, a little(!) bit of hot steamy sex and an ending that will make you scream....then this is the book for you! Now Im not gonna give too much away with this review as I want you all to have the pleasure of reading it yourself....so where do I start?
Lets go with the very obvious selling point...Corey! You are all gonna want him....but your gonna have to get in line behind me as I saw him first!! He started of as just the hot tattood distraction but oh boy soon he became much much more! He is sweet and loving.....and did I mention before he was hot! I love a man who knows how to treat a woman and he really does know.
And then theres Dani, strong willed, hard headed and really bloody frustrating!! I dont go for the weak lead female characters...I love strong women and she totally fitted that bill,a bit too much sometimes! There were times through this story that I just wanted to grab her, give her a good shake and tell her to get a clue! Im all for being careful with your heart but goddamn woman!!! I do love her as a character(even if she frustrates me) she has been dealt with a bad past but she isnt moaning and whining about it all the time. She is strong and always completely honest about her feeling....well to a certain extent.
We also have Oliver or Ollie....what can I say....the guy is a douche! Someone needs to run him down and then reverse back over him!! Im not sure if its a personality thing with him or the fact that he causes problems that I hate! There are other characters who come into the story like Coreys sisters but I will let them introduce themselves to you....but lets just say that you will love Karly! She is a little spitfire...lol
The way that the book is written totally fits with the way I like to read, I love to feel emotions but I really hate too much drama with it. There are times in this book where you can feel your heart breaking or butterflies in your belly but its not totally crammed down your throat forcing you to feel that way. Its all very subtle which made it feel really believable and made me fall in love with it. I think I went through every emotion possible reading this book....I felt happy, excited, sad, angry and horny.....and then ended up with that 'OMG NO!!' feeling. I will tell you there was a bit of the book I really didnt like....I mean it really didnt work for me at all....THE BLOODY ENDING!!! I mean really! Im not the best at waiting for the next part of a series to come out but this just officially made it 1000% harder!
Well I hope this helped you pick this book to be the next on you TBR list as I really did enjoy it and its only fair that you get to enjoy it aswell. Its Megan Noelles first book and I have to say if all her books are this good then she definitely has a fan for life!
The title really nails it down. It uses the exact word I would use (Well... with maybe some profanity) to describe Dani. A Fool! But I am getting ahead of myself.
I absolutely loved this book. It shows how everyone is "damaged", well some more than others, and their inabilities to move past the events that have made them this way.
Dani
Dani/Danielle was self-confident, driven, open and self-assured in business. In love she was none of those things. When her family needed her to look after the family business she came back to the home that she had long ago left. The place she swore she would never go back to, Serenity Cove. As soon as she sets foot on Serenity Cove she runs into her first love, Oliver. A person that she has always carried a torch for. Seeing him stirs feelings in her that she desperately wants to get rid of. (I instantly didn't like him, but it may be just me)
Oliver Trying to distract herself from the unwanted feelings Oliver has caused. Dani goes to the local bar where she meets a sexy, charming, tattooed, smoking hot bartender, Corey. He is just the type of distraction that she needs.
Corey "I'm here tonight because for once I don't want to think about anything. I don't want to worry about the bullshit that goes along with emotions; I just want to have fun."
"So why didn't you come with friends?" Corey asked; placing his elbows back on the bar. Matching his posture I did the same.
"Because the kind of fun I'm looking for, isn't the kind where I need a group of my friends around."
Oh Yes, Corey is exactly what she needs!!! Corey, Corey, Corey! I can't gush enough about Corey. He has made it into my top 5 book boyfriends for sure. Words can't even describe this yummylicious man. Well, I am sure they could but none of them would do him justice.
Oliver makes his feelings for Dani known (Ugh!) Corey quickly became much more than a distraction. Dani, however, always kept her guard up. Burned too many times to count, she believed she must be the cause of all her relationships having gone awry.
"In my past I've had relationships with several different men. Sometimes the relationships lasted a couple of months and others much longer. They all cheated on me, lied to me, and/or made me feel like nothing more than a fool for believing the words that so easily spewed from their mouths."
For this reason she keeps all her walls firmly in place. Corey, however, is always there for her when she needs someone. Quickly becoming her "person".
This moment. Having you here lying on me, resting with me... It means more to me than you could ever imagine, Danielle. Never before have I felt such peace with another person. Everything just feels right."
Dani doesn't want to be a fool and trust his words. Her heart is too battered. Even her best friend, Gabby, can see that she closes herself WAY TOO MUCH. Gabby had Dani make her a promise.
"Promise me you won't close yourself off so no one can even try to climb over the wire fence you've put up. You're too good of a person to go through life without someone by your side."
Will she keep this promise? How will she overcome the damage that others have caused? Is it Oliver or Corey who her heart wants? When love stares her in the face, is she bound to forever be a FOOL and not take the leap?
This book made me a little nutty on some parts. At times, I was screaming at Dani, over her foolish ways. I was swooning over Corey. I was cursing at times at Oliver and his untimely appearances. The ending made me gasp out of sheer horror! Having said that, yes there is a cliffhanger. Just a warning for those of you that are like me and have a love/hate relationship with them. ;)
I can't wait to get more of this story in book two of the "For You" trilogy. This is a fantastic novel by Megan Noelle. I am looking forward to what's to come from her. She made a fan out of me!
*This review will also be posted under Books, Babes, and Cheap Cabernet*
Very good book. Dani had me pulled in from the beginning. But I couldn't help not hating the way she pushed everyone away from her. The angst in this book drove me crazy! Dani left her New York life to go home to help out her grandparents at their Inn. Her mom, was a drug and alcoholic who did nothing but berate Dani at every turn when she was younger. But her carelessness landed her in prison and the Inn to almost close up. She went home to help out. But when she drove away those 7 years ago, it was because her heart was broken. Oliver was her high school crush and first. But when she saw him locking lips with her so called BBF, Jayme she knew she could never have him. She goes home to get the Inn back up and in running order. She meets Corey one night while he is bartending. And they fell in bed instantly. Their connection was so on. Who wouldn't want a hot guy fawn over you? But at every step forward, there were 3 back. Corey only had eyes for Dani, a successful business man was only looking for love. He was so sweet to her and very giving as well. Dani just walked all over that! Until she finally saw the light and gave in and let her walls fall down. She did love everything about Corey. But it was too late. She decided to walk away from it all after telling him that she did love him. Ugh… wanted to scream at the end of this book… Ollie, has a motive… and I am not quite sure what it is… times like that I wish that Corey would move on and find someone just to show Dani how much she F’d up! But I hope that they do get back together….. as Corey does deserve some happiness, as well as Dani.
My god I want to find me a Corey ... Lol think my husband will mind?? I dislike Oliver and think he's a waste of air space... I can't wait to find out what happens next! Team Corey all the way here!!!
I signed up for the blog tour as soon as I read the synopsis, I was intrigued.... and for good reason because I absolutely wholeheartedly love this book.
I read an average of 4-5 books per week. sometimes they just blend together totally forgettable, but not Fool for you no fucking way. it held me from the start pulled me into a transfixed state lost to the world around me and engrossed in the entity of Danielle and her very fucked up life. It was a complete train wreck and I just could not look away as everything unfolded.
Danielle 25 is our leading lady professional successful women living in New York; originally from Serenity Cove a place she escaped at 18 leaving behind a dysfunctional family and personal heartbreak....well she left the crazy family and that particular heartache with she left for New York. Only to incurred much more pain and suffering in her personal life whiles striving professionally. Bad relationship and bad relationship has left her damaged and broken forever hurt and alone. Except for her best friend Gabby....She loves and supports Danielle (Dani) providing a caring soul in times of despair.
Violet Dani's Grandmother calls upon her to take on the responsibility of the family business which her druggie mum nearly ran into the ground. Now her mum has being incarcerated an her grandparents are retired the burden is placed oh her shoulders.
Left with on other option she reluctantly leaves her job and gives up her apartment to return the the town she refers to as Hell.
(quote) "I needed time to wrap mt head around what was happening and mentally prepare myself for what ever was going to come my way"
I don't think anything prepared her for when she finally returns to Serenity Cove after 7 years and the first person she runs into is Oliver (hated him from then) the person that hurt her and left her feeling used, creating part of the reason why she felt the need to run after she graduated high school.
(Quote )"Ollie was the root of my memories of Serenity, and arguable the cause of one of my biggest demons."
Anxiety riddles and stressed from being back in her personal nightmare Danielle seeks soles at the local bar in the form of a one night stand.
(Quote)"All I really needed was a good, random, roll around in the sack."
what she did not bargain for was that her distraction and bar owner Corey would be the sweeties, gentlest, kindest, sexiest man she would ever meet, flipping her already screwed up would on its head.
(Quote)"why was Corey suddenly taking over my thoughts and making my body crave his touch"
Corey 27 my God this man went straight into my top 5 book boyfriends. he is everything a man should be passionate, caring, protector, friend, lover, fighter (he had to fight to over come his own fair share of problems) with a heart of gold ohh and I forgot he is also HOT as hell.
(Quote)"I was flashed a heart-stopping, knee-shaking, panty-dropping smile as he showed off the dimple in his right cheek."
He is exactly who she needs the type of guy that is willing to do just about anything for her and love her unconditionally. But Dani being a damaged broken independent women hauling around Posh Spice size baggage around with her fight this beautiful man at every turn. she kept her walls up firmly in pace. she would much rather hurt herself than give into the Love she feels for Corey. (Quote)"My body shiver at his touch"
"After having had every single past relationship end in utter failure I was finished"
Dani demonstrates just how badly someone's past can control their present and future if you allow it to be your foundation. Corey put up with a lot of her shit even watching her go on dates with other guys in order to show her just how deeply he feels and that he is willing to wait until she is ready (I dint think she will ever be fucking ready). To say Dani infuriated me was an understatement. I screamed and shout at my IPad for her to wake up and smell the bloody coffee; that Corey is madly in love with her, get over your shit and stop hurting him.
I read the end of this book on my way from work on the bus and I had to physically bang my head against the bell post several times (people looked at me as if I was mad but it just could not be helped). The stress Danielle put me through was no joke, her dumb decisions left me reeling I just wanted too slap some sense into her pretty little head. This is an excellent duet novel my Megan Noelle it's packed with a little of everything, Love, Romance, Sex, Family Drama, Angst, stupidity, humor, acceptance and above all the perfect leading man Corey.
"Just not a big fan of Men disrespecting Women"
It also has an element of reality. we could all take something away from this book. Mainly that if we drag our past around with us it will eventually become too much to bear corrupting the best of ourselves dragging our souls under with all the hurt and un-forgiveness. Blinding us to something or someone amazing just because of our past. sometimes it is much more beneficial to just let things go and move on not carry them around unresolved tainting everything else. don't let past hurt determine your future take control of your own destiny you can miss out on something great just because we are held captive to the past.
Okay totally didn't know what to expect when I started Fool For You ~ sure I read the synopsis so I thought I had a general idea well let's just say I got way more than I bargained for out of this read ~ It was one book that I started and I spent a good amount of time ...
Dani has been living in New York ever since she left Serenity Cove right after she graduated from high school. Dani has always taken care of herself ~ she hasn't been dealt the best hand in life and well her Mother, I use that term loosely, well she made me want to ...
her freaking un-motherly ass. Oh the dear Grandmother ~ well she certainly had me doing this a couple times..
with a few things that came out of her mouth. But I regress Dani returns to Serenity Cove to run Hamilton Inn ~ her Grandmother's Inn that was always the number one priority in her life. Dani's Grandfather was the only person who Dani "knew" loved her. The more I read the more was revealed and Dani has had so much heartbreak in her short 25 years year's with the men who entered and left her life that I was .....
it was just devastatingly sad to re-live what she had been through. Dani comes back "home" and needs a distraction and she finds one with the hot as sin tattooed bar owner Corey ~ personally I would've...
with Corey just as Dani did the first night she lays eyes on him at his bar the Underground and these two have one heck of sexual chemistry and ladies ....
were flying! Well Corey doesn't just want the occasional "hook" up to let go and relieve stress ~ he wants to know Dani and he wants to take care of her! I just ....
cause Dani did something's that irritated me and I wanted to just shake the living crap out of her. The banter between Corey & Dani had me
and I thought they made the perfect couple but what happens when your distraction becomes more than you thought they would be. See Corey is supposed to be Dani's distraction from Ollie her first love and one of the reasons she fled from Serenity Cove in the first place. Dani's trust issues ultimately made me...
I understood her reasoning I truly did but I seriously wanted to
her when she had something so good standing right there in front of her freaking face. There were times that I was
and there were times I was
but I can HONESTLY say when I got to the end of Fool For You I was
DID.NOT.SEE.THAT.COMING!!!! I was literally...
wait one freaking minute you do not END a book that way ~ No freaking way ~ I threw a major freaking fit ~ I had to calm my little 5'3 self down ~ breathe and process so I could right the review and then I ..
because you know what Oh Hell Yeah that was a PERFECT ending! I didn't even realize this was only the first in the series and I can not wait to see where this series takes us. I have my hopes and fingers crossed that Dani ends up with WHO I want but because I'm all into being shocked while reading I'll take what the author gives me~ um kind of have to don't I?
What a beautiful 5 star book about a beautiful young woman who doesn't know where home is and whose trust issues may very well cost her the most important and best thing for her. If you want a book that will literally have you dumbfounded at the end then Fool For You is definitely it!
Not only is this book too long, it ends in a CLIFFHANGER (although the next book is already out). Way too much time was spent on mundane details like what Dani was wearing and what her makeup/hair looked like. Seriously, this book could have almost been cut in half.
There were some typos in this book, not an excessive amount, but enough to be distracted. There were also weird comma placements in the book. The thing that annoyed me the most was where the author didn't start a new paragraph when a different person was speaking ("Do you want to go to dinner?" "Let's go get pizza."). It was beyond distracting! The book lost a star automatically because of that.
Dani apparently has a magic vagina. It's the only explanation that makes sense. She's a horrible person who treats people like crap. She supposedly an outstanding business woman, but she snarls at her employees when there is turmoil in her personal life, she frequently stares into space (instead of working) while thinking about her sex life, she drinks (gets wasted) while working and she has sex while working (no, her profession isn't prostitution). She's completely unprofessional and acts like she's 16, not 25. She gets drunk and makes a complete fool of herself several times.
Corey is a total doormat. A hot doormat, but a doormat nonetheless. Dani treats him like crap at every turn, and not only does he take it and keeps coming back for more, but he's constantly doing sweet things for her. Even when Dani is dating another guy (while still having regular sex with Corey), he keeps coming back! I can't root for a guy this stupid, come on!
I'm still not sure what to make of Ollie. From the book description, he's supposed to be a main character, but he's barely in the book. Dani thinks she still in love with him, but the first two times she sees him (after 7 years), he's a total douchebag! If there is supposed to be some kind of Dani/Corey/Ollie love triangle here, it was a pretty big failure.
There are also Dani's grandparents. They were really confusing. Grandpa was fine, but I couldn't tell if Grandma was supposed to be a villain or not. She treated Dani like crap a lot, but Dani seemed to take it, so I was left scratching my head about Grandma.
This is an OMFG book that will keep you captivated from the first word to the last. I was emotionally attached to the story of Danielle and Corey from beginning to now, even after finishing read the book. I'm invested in Danielle's happieness.
Corey is not like anyone I've ever read about. As much as he wears his heart on his sleeve, he has a wall built around it. Danielle is the hammer that smashes through his wall, not even realizing how quickly she did. Danielle's walls are so much thicker and made of metal. She fights every happiness that she deserves with the history of failures of all the men she's involved herself with.
At every turn in this book I wanted to either hug Danielle, smack some sense into her or just kill her for the foolish decisions. In the end, I was screaming at her for the ridiculous notion of what she can and can't have.
Megan spins an intriguing tale of emotions, reality and desire. The book left me screaming for more. It also leaves me with an overwhelming desire to hunt down Megan and scream at the top of my lungs about how she could make me want to be Danielle as much as I want to kill the girl too.
My favorite line from the book is "This moment. Having you here lying on me, resting with me... it means more to me than you could imagine, Danielle. Never before have I felt such peace with another person. Everything just feel right."
I have the honor of calling Megan my friend and got to read this book before it was released. I loved it! Danielle (Love the name) is a very strong and independent woman. Who through out the book at times is to much of those two things. She's been hurt and let down so many times that she has built up a fortress around her that is so high and so strong, you think there is no one who'll be able to get through it. Then comes Corey, oh my I loooove me some Corey! He is hot, sexy and no matter how many times Danielle tries to push him away. He's right there by her side, showing her that not all guys are the same. Then there's Ollie. I was really excited when i read the blurb that she would return home and rekindle her old high school crush. But as soon as we met Ollie I didn't like him. But Dani is still holding on to her high school crush instead of letting him go and opening her eyes to the AMAZING COREY! All I know is that guy has so freakin' patience!! I wanted to rip my hair out and scream into my tablet at her MULTIPLE TIMES! This book makes you laugh, cry, boil over with anger and frustration. It's a fantastic read that you must add to your TBR list!
Omg I'm so glad I've waited for book two to be released before I read this book as the cliffhanger is massive.ok Dani annoyed me big time in this book I felt so bad for Corey he has fell head over heels for Dani and she knows it but still goes on dates with Ollie who I want to beat over the head with a stick and say stay away from Dani.In the next breath I love Dani it's definitely a scream at kindle book.Dani has to come back to her home town where she ran from after heartbreak to help her nan and grandads business Dani doesn't want to go back she has lots of demons there and leaving her best friend behind hurts like hell.on a night out to try and forget her problems Dani meets Mr hotness and bar owner Corey who I've fell in love with :) can Dani get past all her pain and make a future in her home town? Can she move forward with Corey?.I recommend this book to everyone brilliant read.
Ok I need me a Corey ;) I felt sorry for him throughout the whole book, he gave her his all & she gave nothing bk. Dani just annoyed me no end, she had the perfect guy & did nothing! Would have liked a better ending or an epilogue

I can't wait to get more of this story in book two of the "For You" trilogy. This is a fantastic novel by Megan Noelle. I am looking forward to what's to come from her. She made a fan out of me!
My life had been nothing but a big slap in the face...
Dani left Serenity Cove seven years ago, headed to New York, and never looked back. She had been been hurt by her family, her closest friend, and the boy she was in love with. Now she is begrudgingly back to help run her family's Inn, but she is not planning on making it permanent.
Dani has serious(big, major, huge) trust issues due to her unstable home life and betrayals of men. She is now not willing to let anyone get close enough to fool her or hurt her again. She is just looking for a casual fling. But Corey the sweet, sexy, bartender she meets on her first night back has other ideas. They immediately have a rapport, chemistry and are very compatible. But Dani is not going to let her emotions get involved and she she gets close then she goes in to denial mode and pulls away. Corey is such a good guy! He is responsible, loving, honest, protective, funny, and totally hot. I adored Corey! He tried everything to get her to clue in and show how much he cared. He was her lover, companion, best friend, and protector. I wanted to smack her upside the head and make her see what she was missing. Dani frustrated me so often. She was so stubborn and strong willed. She was stringing poor Corey along as she wallowed in her past hurts and self denial. And she really never planned on staying back in Serenity Cove permanently so that is another big issue in the way.
My soul lightened every minute I was with him. There was something about that man that not only gave me the release I needed between the sheets but allowed me the freedom to be myself.
"You're mine, Danielle. Deny it all you f***king want, but I'm the one that shares a bed with you. I'm the one in your heart."
"But I wanted you to need me the way I need you." "I do, I just can't give you what you want."
And then there is Oliver...the one that got away....or the one she ran away from to be exact. He was her first crush and love and he broke her heart. He was a big reason she ran off to New York. But now that she is back, he is interested again. He seems perfect: wealthy, handsome, from a good family and has the ability to still melt her with a smile. He just did not do it for me though. I was totally Team Corey!
"Back then I knew you loved me, but I sure as hell didn't deserve the way you felt. I'm telling you right now though, Danielle, I want to be the man that deserves to be loved by you. And I will never be able to express how incredibly sorry I am that I was too stupid to realize the truth--before I drove you away."
Will Dani ever be able to truly open up her heart and trust again? Will she throw away someone who could be perfect for her in order to be with the guy she loved during her entire youth? And will she stick around Serenity Cove or will she head back to her work and friends in New York?
When I returned to Serenity Cove, I hadn't intended to stay around long enough to fall for someone. Now I have two guys pulling at me for more. Most people would be ecstatic in this situation but all I felt was a sinking feeling deep in my stomach.
I did like this book and the characters were interesting enough(Corey was downright swoony, sweet, and sexy). But they did seriously make me want to shake sense into them at times. It was full of drama and angst, happy mixed with sad, frustration coupled with small moments of contentment. This book was a little longer than the current norm for the books out there right now and I felt at times it just kept going and going. With the length of the book, I expected a resolved ending....I was so wrong! UGH!!!!So now I am left waiting for book two....
Thanks to Megan Noelle for providing me with a review copy in exchange for an honest review. Will be posted at Reviews by Tammy and Kim
This book is a debut novel by author Megan Noelle and I was blown away by her writing. Megan knew what she wanted to accomplish, knew how she was going to accomplish it and stuck to her guns. I have to give credit to her for that. Megan is definitely an author to keep on your radar.
This story is about Danielle “Dani” Hamilton who finds herself driving back to her hometown – a place she left when she was 18 and never looked back – to help save her family’s Inn. 25 yo Dani has some issues with relationships. She is guarded, snarky and brutally honest, sometimes to a fault. She is an extremely hard worker and is dedicated to helping save her family’s inn, despite it being the last thing she wants to do. When she meets sexy, tattooed, bar owner, Corey Preston, she thinks she finds the perfect distraction – someone she can have casual sex with to take the edge off.
I’m not going to beat around the bush here. I did not like Dani for the first half of the book. In all honesty, I thought she was a bitch, even her internal thoughts were a bit bitchy. Yes, I slowly got to learn a little bit about her past and that helped soften me to her bit by bit. But, for much of the first half I thought the way she treated Corey was down right rude and I could not understand why Corey put up with it. I kept hoping eventually I would grow to like her and it finally came about halfway through.
Once I started really understanding her as a character, her bitchiness waned and I saw her as someone with so much fear – fear of heart break, fear of being alone, fear of insecurity – and everything about her clicked for me. It may have taken longer than I would’ve liked, but I finally was able to sympathize with her.
When Dani meets Corey, his job was to help her forget that she had returned to her hometown, forget her first love, Oliver, who broke her heart all those years ago, and forget the stress her family put on her. Dani got more than she bargained for with Corey. Corey is an amazing character. He is gorgeous, sweet, caring, and utterly smitten with Dani. The only person who doesn’t know that is Dani. I couldn’t help but love him throughout the book.
My only issue I had with him was that I felt he was sort of a doormat at times. He let Dani get away with almost everything – whether she was being a mean, saying uncaring, heartless things, you name it, he forgave her. I wish he stood up to her a bit more throughout the book. He really let her call all the shots and maybe that is what Dani needed, but it turned me off a few times.
There is a love triangle in this book. Corey is vying for Dani’s affections, but first love, Oliver, is also here making his play for her as well. What I liked about this love triangle was that there wasn’t a lot of back and forth with Dani. Megan balanced the triangle perfectly with just enough angst to keep you on your seat, but not too much where you were screaming “Come On” after something happened.
I will also tell you that there is a cliffhanger in this book and the second book is due out sometime later this year. This book was long – 323 pages long – so I understand why the author chose to cut the story into two books. I did feel that there were some scenes that were drawn out longer than necessary, but all in all, I completely get why there needs to be a sequel.
Once I hit the 50% mark, I couldn’t put this book down. The story got better as you kept going so that by the time I finished I eagerly wanted to start Book 2. I give this book 3.5 stars for the first half – I just couldn’t get past Dani’s attitude – but then 4.5 stars for the last half, giving this book a solid 4 stars.
Danielle (Dani) is living the dream in New York (well it’s my dream anyway and I am so jealous) but makes the return trip to her hometown, Serenity Cove, to lend a hand with the family. Dani is one those characters that I love. She’s independent, strong and mature. Before she gets down to business, she decides to get down to some personal bizness and scout out a local hotspot for some much needed action. The kick the tires and start the fires action if you know what I mean. I love that she treats herself to a night out all by herself (better to scope and swoop) and she eyes Corey. Corey is the bartender/owner of The Underground and cue cute meet. But Dani isn’t interested in a boyfriend. She wants a no strings booty call, friend with benefits arrangement. And what benefits! Corey is gorgeous, strong, sweet and a gentleman to boot – the total package. They make a great couple and the dialogue is strong. Oops, no coupledom just yet – friends, remember? This being a hometown tale there is an ex lurking around, Oliver. Lurking is right. He shows up at the most inopportune times. Ugh. He is a thorn in the side of true love. Love? There’s no love in a “just friends” relationship right? Well Corey seems to fall fast and Dani, well she’s not sure. Dani has had a lot of heartbreak in her life and she is positive she doesn’t want any romantic entanglements. But tell that to her heart, because this girl is one big ball of confusion.
The love scenes are plenty hot and I really enjoyed the banter between Dani and Corey. The exposition is adequate, but I would have liked to know more about Dani’s family dynamic, especially the contentious relationship between Dani and her grandmother. Dani’s mother’s substance abuse problems play a big part in the animosity as does the grandmother’s indifference during the growing up years. I just didn’t feel that the brief mention of family obligation and loyalty entirely explained why Dani came back.
Now I am not a big fan of superfluous cliffhangers, trilogies, etc. but a good story always trumps my misgivings. Fool For You is the first book of the ‘For You’ series and so would have a cliffhanger of sorts. I don’t know if I would call it so much a cliffhanger as an abrupt mid thought end. I want a cliffhanger to leave me in suspense not confusion. I honestly thought I was missing a few pages. Aside from this misstep, Fool For You is a good read. On the surface it is one of those, “you can’t go home again,” stories. But if my hometown were full of guys like Corey I would be booking my ticket right now.
My head just exploded. I might be having a heart attack or a stroke. My husband certainly thinks I've lost my mind because he watched me spend all day yelling at my phone (I read this on my Kindle App) and then have a conniption when I got to the end. Thank goodness there is another one coming. Danielle Hamilton ran from her hometown, her dysfunctional family, her traitorous best friend and her first love seven years ago right after high school. Now she's back to save the family business and she's coming face to face with all her past demons. She's out one night looking for a distraction in the form of a one night stand when she meets Corey Preston. She desperately tries to keep him at arm’s length but he's found his future in her and he's not letting her run without a fight. I read this full size book (YAY! HATE short books) in one day. I couldn't put it down. I'm in LOVE with Corey (Sorry babe. Take comfort that he's fiction). He's the perfect man. Literally. I could not find one thing wrong with him. Oh wait, yeah I can. He's fiction. Weird Science technology would come in handy about now. (Sorry babe. Take comfort that Weird Science technology is also fiction.) Dani drove me freaking crazy. I called her every dirty name imaginable while I was reading this. In fact, I wrote most of them down in the notes. Not that I didn't like her character, but, as she would tell you herself, she is majorly screwed up. A lot of her choices were hard to swallow. The whole situation with Oliver drove me out of my mind. I wanted to reach in and shake her. Really hard. I loved this story, I loved Corey, of course, and I also loved his sisters and Sanders. I loved how Corey handled the whole thing with the cigarettes and how never really gives up her, even when you think he has. Did I mention that I love Corey? I sometimes felt like the internal monologues went on a tad long but all in all I was very impressed when I read that this is a debut novel for Megan Noelle. The character development was excellent, the story was captivating and she managed to write the perfect man. Superb job, Megan. I can't wait for the next one. This book was highly recommended to me months ago and all I can say is...WHY on earth did I wait so long to read it???!!!
It was awesome, such an enjoyable read, from start to finish.
Ladies if you're looking for a new man to swoon over then you need to read this...PRONTO! Hec, even if you aren't, you need to read this…PRONTO! His name is Corey Preston and is a delicious man with a side of ‘sweet as pie’, drizzled with ‘patience of a saint’, and topped with ‘a heart of gold’. Just the description of what he wore got me all heated up: thermal shirt with a t-shirt over-top perfectly showing off his ‘want to run my hands all over’ mouth-watering muscles while hiding his sexy tatted up beautiful arms, jeans hanging a little low but still showing off his perfect ‘squeeze me’ ass, all while wearing his baseball cap backwards finishing off his ‘fanning my face’ scrumptious look. Seriously girls, Corey is someone you want to meet and fantasize about.
Then there is the female lead, Danielle Hamilton, who you really do like but at the same time want to shake her and knock some sense into her. Like really want to slap her and scream “WAKE UP”!!!
This might sound weird to put in a review but sometimes when an author describes what a character is wearing I have a tough time visualizing it but I have to give props to Megan Noelle because she painted the picture perfectly, I was easily able to picture it all which I absolutely enjoyed. And not just the outfits but everything. What reader doesn't love being able to visualize what they're reading as if they are actually seeing it in person. In my opinion when an author can pull that off, and make it absolutely impossible to put the book down, they have a great gift.
Megan Noelle, I have most definitely become a fan of yours and look forward to your future writes, especially book 2 of this series! Thank you for this great novel.
Danielle Hamilton is a strong independent woman whose heart was broken and used too many times.
Moving back to her hometown was not an easy thing. Leaving her lifestyle, job and best friend in NYC was the hardest thing she’s ever done. Her grandmother needed help with the Inn and Danielle was forced to help her out.
She had no friends to celebrate her return with. Only her high school crush, Oliver, was still in town and her main goal was to avoid him at all cost.
After asking her new assistant Bailey for a bar suggestion, she ended up at The Underground where she met Corey. (In my opinion, Corey is the perfect guy. The one I would pick over a million. He is smart, polite, protective, hot and he is Corey... Come on!) They clicked right away but are they aiming for the same type of relationship? Dani suffered enough already and she promised herself she wouldn't fall in love again. She doesn't want something serious but will Corey be okay with this?
What will happen when Dani finally crosses path with her high school crush? Will it be like nothing ever changed? or will she be over it?
You have to read this book. Why? Because you won't be able to stop reading it. You will suffer from the Impossible-to-put-it-down-OK-only-one-more-chapter-and-I'm-done-Oh-crap-I-Can't!!!!!!!!!!!! The characters are perfectly crafted. The storyline is great and the end OMFG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait to read Fighting for you. You will understand once you are done reading Fool for you.
The author, Megan Noelle, did an amazing job. The cover looks great and her writing skills are impressive. She is a hard worker and she deserves nothing but five star reviews.
Danielle Hamilton fled to New York from her home town after she graduated high school with a broken heart, she returns home years later to help her grandparents struggling inn after her drug addicted mother has almost ran it into the ground. She bumps into her first love Oliver also the man that broke her heart and all the feelings come flooding back. Then she goes to a local ban and the owner Corey Preston catchers her eye they have an instant attraction and because she has been hurt so much in the past she just wants casual sex and they embark on a "friends with benefits affair".
When I first started this book and reached the first sex scene I was a little disappointed about the lack of descriptive sex scenes BUT I was not disappointed and they certainly heated up as I read on. I really wanted to bitch slap Danielle so hard during this book I also understand that she wants to protect her heart from getting broken again but this is crazy! OMG Corey is lovely he is HOT, tattooed with a six pack to make any girl swoon. I found that I slowly fell for him and by the end I was head over heels and feel very protective of him just another reason I want to slap Danielle. She is very frustrating and sort of knows what she wants but is unsure. arghhhh. Corey is also very romantic and had me a blubbering mess a few times.
This is a fabulous romantic read but with a cliffhanger ending which I love/hate.. I almost threw my kindle of the wall and had a little frustrated cry to myself but now I have calmed down I am really looking forward to the next book.
One beautiful steamy read Author Megan , can really write a steamy scene. Finally a book where the girl doesn't need saving, she got her shit together, and she knows what she wants, well at least she think so, don't take me wrong, I love those stories just as much. A little to much I will add. So the weekend came and I pick up this book, WOW. A strong independent young woman, looking just for a distraction, not strings attached, why not?, man do that all the time. Hey things get a little messed up, she just looking for someone to take care or her needs, nothing else., after all she's just back in her hometown for a few months to help run the family business that belongs to her grandparents and her no good for nothing mother, managed to ruin, after that she is planing to return to her successful job in New York City. So she's gets the job done, and says the words man says all the time, hey, it was just a friendly fucking aww did I just say that???! Oh where did my manners go! Will she take the man that she loved in high school and took her "V card" just to break her heart and don't call her the next morning or will she just walk back to NYC? well you just have to buy and read the book, is worth it. I tell you that much. I did enjoy this read. Watch out this young author Megan Noelle is marking her territory really good, and she's here to stay!
I just had to stop reading this 80% through, I may take a week or two and go back but I just couldn't take it anymore. Dani drove me freaking insane. At first I understood her reservations but this whole thing with Oliver doesn't make any damn sense anymore. Nothing wrong with being a commitment phobe and scared given her past BUT she KNOWS she wants Cory and doesn't want to be without him yet she still agrees to go on a date with Oliver and let him kiss her when she doesn't have the teenage love feeling toward him any longer. If she didn't want to completely admit her feelings to Cory fine, but I just don't get her. She gets jealous when he flirts with customers (and he then reigns that in) and lashes out but he is just supposed to be cool about her dancing with another man right in front of him (the SAME one who says shitty things to her and whom he knows is her H.S. love/crush) and that is a ok with her. It was just so childish to me I had to stop. The whole "I'm broken boo hoo" from Dani was just overwritten in my opinion. I just kept waiting....and waiting....and waiting for her to grow up and finally realize that Cory is the perfect man for her which she freaking acknowledges as much to herself but yet......her juvenile behavior still goes on. This probably is confusing because I am confused and irritated so sorry about that.
Ok...so I ran across a recommendation on this book on one of the fb pages that I follow..so I did as I always did I read the reviews, this one had a lot of 4 and 5 star ratings..but if you actually read the reviews not just look at the number of stars you learn a lot about the author and the main characters...boy oh boy am I glad I bought this book...In the beginning I was not a fan of Dani, she seemed just so cold to me. Not in your typical man I have had my heart ripped from my body, type cold. Just cold..but that girl has had reason to become the way she is..However when Corey is introduced, siiiiiigh, that's it ladies, it's over, he is the one, and no one else will ever do....Oliver, well compared to Corey never stood a chance in my opinion...I mean ALPHA GUY Corey Sweeeet Baby Jesus!!!! Just buy this book, but be ready for the book hangover...it will come as soon as you read the last page. Then you will have to not so patiently wait for the 2nd book...feel free to tell Megan Noelle that April, me, isn't the only one not so patiently waiting on the release :-)
Danielle Hamilton is going back home to take care of her grandmother's Inn. She left seven years ago after Oliver Garrison broke her heart. She has a good head for business but has been unlucky in love. When she goes to the local bar The Underground she meets the sexy bartender/owner Corey Preston. Corey is immediately attracted to her and as the weeks progress he wants more. But Danielle is adamant to keep it casual.
This book had a great beginning but I just couldn't sympathize with the heroine. She kept on pushing Corey away. Dani's behavior was very immature.
Corey was a saint to wait for her. He is the main reason why this book gets a 2 stars instead of 1. It also ends in a cliffhanger. 2/5 Fangs cross posted at my blog http://mrsleifs.blogspot.com
loved this book I am a big supporter of this girl Megan shr is amazing. Her story captivated me from the start to the end. This is a story about a young girl who has been heartbroken. Not just by a guy but by life and she moved away to start fresh. Until she gets a call for her to come home and then she has to face all of the heartbreaks from the past. You have to love Dani though for everything she has been through. Then she meets Corey the amazing guy I love so very much. He is just fun and hot possesive dominant. But he is trying to give Dani time to accept what they have but she fights it. Damn Dani lol but here comes Ollie to make hef even morr confused. But she just can 't do it anymore and BAM the end. love you Megan I will support you forever ;-)
Every family has it's own problems. When Danielle chose to run away to New York City and run away from her problems, she should have know they would eventually catch up to her. When her gram asks her to come back and run the family business, Danis whole life is turned upside down. Danielle is looking to have some fun and let off some steam with a one night stand, but when she goes to a local bar and meets a sexy tattooed bartender, things get crazy in more than the bedroom!
This book was funny, hot, sweet, and sexy. And corey... Yes please! The characters were well thought out and very relatable. I loved dani and how she was all over the place with her emotions. There was never a dull moment in this book. I couldn't put it down. I can't wait to read the second book. I'm hooked!
WOW!! WOW!! I absolutely LOVED THIS BOOK!! Dani and Corey and the chemistry between them was awesome, this book grips you from page one! Dani returns home although she isn't happy about it. She meets Corey, hotness himself, but wants nothing more than just hooking up while she's dealing with family problems. There was times in the book i wanted so bad to kick her ass!! why was she practically throwing him away?? Was she CRAZY!!! I couldn't put this book down. You will laugh, you will ugly cry and you will sigh with heartfelt emotion, this book will draw it all out of you.
One of the best books i've read this year. Only a Fool would miss out reading this book! LOVE LOVE LOVED IT!!!
This book had me from the beginning. My favorite thing about this book, is it is something that could really happen. It isn't some billionaire wooing the poor weak girl. Although don't get me wrong I like those books also, but there was something so real about this book. The change of pace from the girl who wants the guy and him not wanting her is awesome! The characters in this book are real, and they suck you right into their world. Megan Noelle draws real emotion from you with each character, you fall in love right along with each of them. So well written and truly a must read! Thank you Megan Noelle for writing such an amazing book I can't wait to get my hands on Fighting For You!
Gosh dang it!!!!!!!! I don't know how to rate this. My first mistake was reading about book two so the whole time I knew what was going to happen and I was pissed.... I mean livid. Especially after getting into the book and falling absolutely in love with Corey. I mean there is NO better man than him. I was also completely turned off by Dani. It was meant for her to be independent and scorned but for me it turned into a selfish selfish girl and I was so over it. Completely over it. Oliver wasn't even a part of the book so I'm not sure what his character was even meant for. ugh. I think I have a love hate relationship with the book. I Love Corey and hate Dani.
