A Very Present Help

Rate this book
A tale about romance and danger, love, suspense, betrayal and the testing of one's faith. A young teacher, her heart broken by the Marine she is engaged to, has her faith tested almost to the limit when stalked by a man whom she has just recently met. However, Shannon finds that God has a better plan for her than she could ever imagine. The elementary school teacher and Rick, a Marine stationed in Afghanistan, had been engaged for quite a while and everyone expected them to marry...eventually. Then Angela, a Marine whom Rick is instrumental in rescuing from insurgents, captures his heart and Shannon's is shattered after receiving the phone call from overseas to break their long engagement. Even though Shannon can't get her mind off a very handsome Gunny Sergeant, another Marine she only met once on a trip to D.C. shortly after becoming engaged to Rick, she still becomes depressed. She feels that there will never be another man in her life like the one she's just lost. Suddenly God brings the Gunny back into the picture in a miraculous way. The only problem now is that Shannon has a stalker, who has made it his goal to have the beautiful young teacher for himself. He and his cohorts are devious and a real threat to her safety. Events weave a tapestry with the lives of all these people. Shannon's piece of the tapestry however includes a daunting path of fear and betrayal causing her to desperately cling to God's very present help in time of trouble.

A longtime member of American Christian Fiction Writers and Houston Writers Guild. Born in Wisconsin, grew up in Illinois, schooled in Illinois through College and Florida through Bible School, retired in Texas and enjoying every minute of it.

My time is spent doing a lot of things I've always wanted to have the time to do, including several hours daily writing stories about people who discover (as I have) that God will only allow those things into your life that will help you grow and/or increase your faith.

Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer. Psalm 19:14

At the age of twelve years old, I accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior and have never been disappointed that I did. He has been with me through trials and tribulations, most of which I brought on myself. Never once have I felt that He deserted me or doesn't love me.

In my writing, I try to bring out the love of God and truth from His Holy Word. I hope that my stories will be a blessing to you.

I really enjoyed this book. It is a wonderful love story with a touch of suspense that kept me reading until the final pages. I loved the story line and enjoyed following the characters in the sometimes rocky road to finding God's path for their lives. I look forward to reading other books by this author.

Couldn't put it down!

New author for me and hope to read more of her books. Fully developed characters, engaging relationships, and realistic situations made for a wonderful book. Caught my interest early and kept it throughout. While the coincidence of the initial meeting of one couple may have seemed a bit much, it presented as more of a God-incidence by the end. God was present but book was not preachy. Highly recommend this book involving friends, family, and Marines.

Truly excellent book

This story was exceptionally good. I did take two days to read it. This is my first book by the author. I have to say that the way she wrote the book along with all of the characters was great. There were so many issues and drama that left you speechless. I am glad God was in this story.

I received this book as a gift and read it immediately. It was an enjoyable read. I knew what would happen between the main characters by the fourth chapter, though there were enough twists to keep me reading. The last chapters were nicely suspenseful.
