I enjoyed this it's my first read from this author.
Jill is a sassy bartender who has a debt thanks to her missing brother. She has a plan revenge on anyone who had anything to do with her brother missing. But before that, she meets the new owner and the man who now has her debt in his hands. Gage and their first meeting was pretty hot 🔥 🥵. Jill was already attracted to him, but that was it until he followed her around, making it know she was his.
They had a push/pull vibe around each other, and he didn't care who openly flirted with his woman, but that was it anything else they were dead. Besides that, he made sure her victims were taken care of since she was a messy killer.. idk if she wanted to get caught, or she just didn't care? And I love her obession of red lipstick, and there's a reason why ;).
There is a lot of back and forth between the 2. So be warned. And when the big secret comes out, I'm glad she made him kinda grovel. But she should've let him talk and get more info before she left.
As for side stories, I like lana, but idk if I'll read her story. She's well she loves sex so she has a lover, and whatever Andres is to her??
Saftey- there's a lot of flirting from the h because she's a bottle girl, and she's making tips. Besides that, nothing else really happens with men.
No ow/Tiny om drama (flirty guys), no cheating, slight secondary character, drama, sexy times, no virgins

This was certainly a different read. I read a lot of romance genres so dark romance his not new to me and I predicted how this story was gonna go from the start and had expectations... That were obliterated as the story did not go as I expected and the characters were not as "sweet" as I persistently would be... This is not a complaint! I loved that I was wrong and it pulled me into the story more. I wanted to know badly what was gonna happen next and who did what to whom. It made a lovely change for a book to Not be as predictable as others.
Jill, the FMC, is a sassy badass that's also a little cray cray but who can blame her when the men around her use her as a bargaining chip or an object. She's strong though and can take care of herself, well with a little help.
Gage has been stalking her for a while and getting all his ducks in a row until he can come out of the shadows and claim what's his, namely Jill. He certainly doesn't see her as an object but as his other half and worships her accordingly. Yes he is morally black and protective and possessive to the max,unapologetically so but it works for him when he couples his actions with words of affirmation and adoration. It's wrong but... *swoon* Jill is a lucky girl.
The story has some twists and a climactic end so it's definitely worth the read. It's a nice easy read to, not overly complicated and all the characters have endearing qualities that I hope to see again in book two for Lanes story...? Right! It better be Lana next! She's a blonde badass with sass!

4 stars for Jillian and Gage’s INTENSE stalker romance 🖤🖤🖤🖤. This is a ‘he faceplants first’ story with a thicker than a snicker heroine, murder and mayhem, light MC scenes, a serial killer heroine, and a totally obsessed hero. 🤌🏼

Our story opens with the reader learning of Gage’s masterplan to win a club in a high stakes poker match where Jillian is paying off her brothers debts through sweat labor💧 Gage has been head over heels for this girl for 5 months and he orchestrates winning her affection perfectly 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 that first scene where Gage and Jillian make out while she’s on bottle service 🥵🥵🥵like the hottest thing ever 🥵🥵🥵
Now there are a of couple main sub-plot going on, both the brother debt/murder and serial killer angles. At times it’s easy for those to be lost because Gage’s obsession with Jillian burns BRIGHT 🔥🔥 it swallows up everything else, and he is single minded in his pursuit of her. We loveeeee a hero who is all about his woman 😈 but coming from the first book that felt more plot heavy I did wish those had been more evident and consistent 👀
Gage as a hero is completely dependent on Gillian. He needs to see her at all times. He calls her his muse. Menace. Little Devil. 😈😈😈 And as hot as his obsession with her is I found myself more drawn to his backstory. He grew up in the system as his parents (MC folks) were in and out of prison. He had to fight for all of his success. And he loves to shower his menace with his riches 🤌🏼🤌🏼 but sometimes I wish more of who he was outside of her showed through. More of his internal struggles. Because he could sometimes feel like he was only an extension of Gillian. But boy, does the man know how to do groveling and dirty talk right 😂
Gillian as a heroine was overall really enjoyable. I loved that she was strong. She knew who she was 😍 She was confident and knew her worth 👏🏼 she was a self proclaimed girls girl and showed this in tangible ways (not canceling on her friend just because a guy was there, immediately seeking out female companionship at the MC, and honestly just prioritizing the women in her life ❤️). But she’s also a serial killer 🔪🔪🔪 and enjoys the kills. Shes a DV survivor. She’s hard with very little softness. When she does open up it’s beautiful and raw 😭
What I liked:

The smut was smuttyyyyy 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ (rough, he’s definitely the dom, public scenes, blood play, and Gage eating her 🐈 likes it’s an all you can eat buffet 😂)
Stalker romance (voyeur to the max, our guy has cameras and also puts in the footwork 🚶🏻♂️)
Tattooed hero + tattoo artist
Their nicknames for one another 😭😭😭 he calls her menace and she calls him reaper. Soooo freaking perfect!
When she mentions the chairs at the club won’t hold both of them so he gets them allllll swapped out 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Gage cleans her crime scenes for her so she never has to worry 🔪😭
That scene where Jillian comes over crying and his first response is “who do I need to kill” like mannnnn OTT JP done RIGHT
When he redid her tattoo and put his initials in the lemon peel 😂😂 that’s the psycho shit that a dark romance reader eats up
When Jillian learns of all the tattoos he has with hidden meanings on them that represent her 👌🏼
This author knows how to write plus size heroines the RIGHT WAY. ❤️ There’s a lot of every day adaptations that are referenced and they’re normalized beautifully (anti-chafe efforts, towel sizes, chairs, moments of hesitation for even the most confident plus sized baddie). It never takes away from the story, rather it enhances the readers experience of the heroine’s life.
Gage’s mom is a freaking hoot. She ain’t right in the head and I loveeee it 😂😂
What I didn’t like:
I wish the sub plots had more of a consistent focus. They tended to ping in and out of frame and at times got lost. Really the couple was the main plot.
I wish there’d been more emotional and open conversations between the couple. The spice was steamy. Their connection was molten lava 🌋 but I found myself wanting more vulnerable emotions than anger and obsession. Having said that Jillian herself says she wants obsession and is not romantic. 😂 But as a reader, I would’ve loved to see more fractures in both of their armors so I felt the love underneath the magnetism. 🫤
I didn’t like the final scene in the epilogue. 😅 Until that point all of Jillian’s kills had been somewhat personal. They’d been thought out and as a reader you knew these were bad men she was going after. There wasn’t enough of a connection with the random groper to feel the same way. Unless it’s foreshadowing how they’ll devolve together 👀
TLDR;
This is a spice heavy book 🌶️🌶️🌶️ with lots of fantastic and chaotic energy between the couple 🫰🏼 it’s got all the elements of a good dark romance- ‘touch her and die’ energy, OTT JP hero, murder and mayhem, a strong heroine who likes to stab 🔪, tattooed stalker who likes to treat his woman right 💅🏼, and explosive physical chemistry. It’s a wild ride

I received an ARC of this book and I found it incredibly difficult to finish. I’d read any means necessary and loved it so was looking forward to this.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t get into the characters and found a lot of the writing cringey and didn’t flow right. Gage was annoying and just really possessive in a creepy and inappropriate way. Jill annoyed me and I found myself rolling my eyes a looooot.

It was okay, I received an Arc for this one. I was enjoying it at first but then it got repetitive. Gage ended up getting on my nerves and Jill seemed a bit full of herself. If you like stalker romance with a lot of smut scenes this is perfect for you, although the smut scenes started to get boring to me as well. Some things I cringed at but overall it was a pretty okay book. I wouldn’t say don’t read it because everyone enjoys something different!

Spoilers ahead, 2.5* (first book of 2025)
If I had to rate this on the absolutely delicious obsession by the H I'd say this is a 5 star+ read but....... everything else? Not quite.
Jill's brother, Tommy, us missing and presumed dead. Before his disappearance he wracked up thousands of dollars in debt to a club owner. Jill is forced to work to pay the debt off, fortunately she kills the club owner..... unfortunately his business has changed ownership, meaning Jill's debt is to the new owner Gage Lawless.
Gage won the club in high stakes poker, unbeknownst to Kill he's been obsessed with her for months and has taken quiet steps to infiltrate her life and also have her back. His end goal is one thing.....to have Jill as his, forever

I love when the H is so obsessed with the h that every step, every moment, every decision since he met her has been about her in some form or other. Gage took measures all designed to getting Jill as his wife and he let nothing stand in his way.....that was the best parts of the book
My problems
1) why was he so obsessed with her? I haven't got a clue
2) I actually didn't like Jill or her slutty best friend Lana. They were supposed to come across as body positive plus size queens I guess? Idk but I didn't like them at all. And yes author I understand they're big girls, you didn't need to remind me at every turn.
3) At 52% Jill knew nothing about Gage, she didn't know he had family or was in a group home nothing...... simply because all they did was fuck 🙄 I love me a good fucking......but there was no relationship progression by over half the book.
4) This was like 60% bad sex
5) I knew the stupid third act breakup was coming, she found her brother's lucky charm so she suspected Gage had something to do with his disappearance. This is a man who's made you the entire focus of his life for months, who's killed for you and cleaned up after your kills. Who's shown you that all he wants is you......yet you didn't stop to ask a question as to what was going on? You assumed he killed your brother and ran🙄
6) She went through all that she went through for a brother that actually wasn't a good person, in life or a good brother to her . At least she got closure in the end.
All in all there were parts I liked but honestly this just didn't turn out as I'd hoped. Jill needed to get with the program a lot earlier than she did and there needed to be more than them having sex and him pursuing her to make this work for me.
I'd probably try this author again but maybe not Lana's story.

When I first read the synopsis of this book I didn’t realize that Jill was out here killing people on the reg, I thought it was an accident and Gage was so obsessed/infatuated with her that he cleaned her mess up LOL. This was surprising in a lot of ways, since I’m not really into stalker romance and I wish it was more of a slow burner (I felt as if I barely got to know the characters before they were getting down and dirty😭🥲)my rating isn’t that high but you guys should definitely give this a read if you’re into plus size women in roles they aren’t usually in!

He’s obsessed with her but not to TAKE CARE of her just to fuck her.
It’s so annoying.

i was LOVING this until like 85% in where there was a flashback of the H saying his parents caught him balls deep in a blonde he didn’t know the name of so the h shouldn’t be embarrassed that she didn’t have pants on when they wanted to meet her. it was so unnecessary ESPECIALLY because there has been no mention of his past other than he saw the h five months ago and hasn’t even looked at a woman since which i was ALL ABOUT but that one tiny flashback paragraph really killed my mood. 😅
but other than that i loved it. he was absolutely obsessed and she liked to kill men and didn’t seem to mind that he was a total stalker 😂😂😂😂😂 it was crazy and unrealistic and hot as fuck and just what i needed.
i really want to read the best friend’s book because she was banging all the hot, rich, dangerous men that weren’t who (i think) she will be paired with and i love that for her so much.

Red My Lips is the first in the Stained Hearts Series by Lila Herron. I received an ARC for my honest review.
This is Lila's second book I've devoured. I first read her debut - Any Means Necessary back in April and I was floored at how much I absolutely loved it. She did not let me down in this one either. This was a fast read. Filled to the brim with delicious dark romance and the perfect amount of banter between the MCs. Can I just wish here for an obsessive stalker tatood god-like man like Gage - he was dark and scrumptious and so freaking perfectly obsessively in love with Jill. And dont get me started on Jill - I loved her to bits. All the chemistry and wicked banter you would want between your MCs are right here on all the pages in Red My Lips.
This is a must read for all my dark smutty romance reader besties - Lila Herron writes about confident plus size main female characters who dont give a fuck and men who will gladly cut the world at it's knees to make it fall at her feet. If you have triggers please go and read them. You mental health is important.

one thing lila herron will do is DELIVER. this book was so unhinged and so hot. i loved everything about it, i too deserve my own gage lawless. him being so obsessed with jillian and literally dedicating his life to watch her and protect her and just be there for her I WAS BLUSHING AND GIGGLING FR. jillian hart is a bad b!tch okay? we love a woman who uses her powers for good because men are nothing but a joke sometimes. I LOVED EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS BOOK. LOVE THE PLUS SIZE LOVE ALWAYS, love gage lawless, love jillian hart. it’s all i’ll think about.

I popped my ARC cherry!
Firstly, the love story? Oh so deliciously written, like yummy stalker, dark and moody goodness.
Secondly, the characters? Oh Gage, if you were my man.. pfft, the things I'd do. And Jill, what a badass - like literally gave me chills with how much I loved her.
Thirdly, the plot and the twists? I saw them coming from a mile away - and that is literally the only reason this book is getting a four out of five star.
I loved everything from the twisted, dark writing to the love story to the smut but the plot was slightly too predictable for me and maybe it's because I read way too much that all books are becoming predictable but Lila Herron's first book will always hold a place in my heart so deep, I don't know if she will ever be able to compare to that love.
If you love stalkery, murdery, moody and sassy characters - read this book. It's got the whole dark romance vibes in the bag!

Being picked as an arc reader was amazing and a true honor as when I read any means necessary I was devastated to find out that it was Lila Herron’s first book and I couldn’t binge more from her. When I got my copy at four in the morning I decided against sleep and read half the book before seven am hit and then quickly read the second half after waking up. This book is my heart and soul, it was amazing it had me hooked from the prologue. I was in a deep reading slump and was nervous that it was going to affect my love for Lila heron’s work but thankfully this book dragged me out of the slump. Jill is a force to be reckoned with, she displays confidence and power with everything she does, refusing to be put down by the bad situation she is and stealing control back where she can. Gage is the best, he allows her to take control of the situation because he knows she needs it, he was perfect for her and she is perfect for him, these two really matched each other freaks. The book had me on edge of wanting to know what happens but not wanting it to end, I wish there were a million more chapters for me to read and I’m back in the same situation I was in when I finished any means necessary, I need to wait for the next book. The best thing I read in this book was the line - book one!!, I am so excited for the next one and already know it’s going to be an automatic five stars as I think it is impossible for Lila Herron to write anything less. There is so much more I can say about this book but I don’t want to spoil anything, all I can say is that if Lila Herron has a million fans I’m one, if she has one it’s me and if she has none I’m dead. • він одержимий сталкер і постійно її переслідує,їй це подобається,але вона сильна гг. якщо брати до уваги,що в таких книгах зазвичай гг не вміють протистояти,то вона досить таки впевнена в собі,вміє класно відстояти свою думку та захистити себе.
- гг героїня також вважає,що її брат мертвий..вона хоче вияснити,що з ним сталось.
окрім цього вона складає список відповідальних за це та вбиває їх,їй цікаво побачити,якого кольору у них кров🩸
на початку мені все сподобалось, читалося швидко,було цікаво спостерігати за головною героїнею та десь на середині і під кінець мені вже не дуже подобалося.

if i had a nickel for every time i read a book where the mmc gives the fmc a man to kill as a present i would have three nickels, which isnt a lot, but its weird that it happened thrice right?

this book was man OBSESSEDDD. like. his every waking thought is about her. it was fast paced and kind of insta-lovey, but not too bad. a good palette cleanser read!! confident fat/curvy fmc, stabby morally gray fmc, morally gray mmc, “stalking” trope but not really it was very light. its a “dark” romance but instead of the mmc being a rapist and creepy and weird he would die for her would let her kill him and would end anything that hurt her 👅😩
i wanna try out another book by this author bc i really enjoyed it!! def one of those books you read for fun and NOT for critical thinking. which are my fav kind of books.
