I received an advance ARC copy from the author for my honest review and I also purchased it from amazon.com. Something I like to do, too support one of my favorite authors.
Totally enjoyed 'Payback', it has a simple approach with a storyline that's ripped out of the headlines, easy to read and follow reading wise. Too many times you'll read a book, that too much detail, overloaded with needless words and characters. So especially like it when you read one, that has a simple storyline, no needless characters or words and nice to read a thriller. That totally hooks you in, like both Dev and Beth Papadakis characters, it's like your right their with Beth (You want too help her even), it's suspenseful, yet predictable, that doesn't have me rereading parts or notes to keep track of multiple storylines or a list of characters.
This isn't a standalone novel, you'll need to read 'Panic' first, since 'Payback' picks up where that one ended and continues the story.
Beth Papadakis is drawn into drama with men trying to break away from a crime boss. This was the first book in the series I have read and parts are confusing as you feel like something happened before and you are out of the loop. Having said that this book moves fast and is action packed. Beth is helping the men to break away and trying to help the women captured and trafficked as well. There are beautiful descriptions of Spain in the midst of all the action. It reads really well and I look forward to going back and reading the first books so I can catch up to this series.
It's a good story with interesting characters, but I have never seen so many people take such impulsive and dangerous actions. And I never expected this book to contain so much violence and cruelty. I found it sickening and had to set the book aside every once in awhile to let my emotions settle down. I guess this should be a tribute to the author's ability to convey realism. I just found it overwhelming sometimes. I'm not sure if I will venture to read another of these Beth Papadakis Thrillers. We'll see.
This is a very entertaining, easy to read mystery/thriller. There’s plenty of action and suspense to keep you interested from the first to last page. There’s so much action and intrigue. Beth is a wonderful, well developed character. This is not a stand-alone. You need to read the previous books in the series to get the full story. I received a complimentary pre-release copy of the book from the author and this is my honest review
Beth Papadopoulos hits the Mediterranean countries like a force of nature to help any friend or right any wrong. If you like a fast paced read, you will enjoy following this dynamo into quaint villages in search of kidnapped friends and evil people. Along the way, she has time for connections and checking up on family.
In this adventure circumstances can stress the best of friendships and Beth & Helen's is no different. Many subplots and you never expect the twists and turns coming. Keep an open mind as their adventure or you may miss the important elements.
PAYBACK #4. Cara Alexander Trouble finds Beth, still she will go any length to rescue her friends. She has obligation and is trained. She knows she is being watch, she encounters the bad with the drugs and the sex traffic. It tells on her, yet she does pursue. Giving us a good thriller once again. One likes the character of Beth, and the settings added to this good flowing plot. Good series to enjoy. Given arc for my voluntary review and my honest opinion
