I’m not a complicated woman, really. I only want to never see his face again.
Luke Crawford was my best friend until he became my nightmare in high school. In the decade since we graduated, I’ve tried to forget him. I've focused on caring for my sick mom and making partner in the accounting firm where I work. But then Crawford Corporation is added to my client list and Luke saunters back into my life, making even the simplest task difficult. I want to turn around and leave. But I can’t walk away from this job, I have bills to pay. *** Time is supposed to heal all wounds, but Grace Sweeney hurt me more than I care to think about. When a storm forces us together, I learn that my perspective of the past may have been tainted and suddenly my irritation with Grace weans and my attraction ignites. My instinct is to run, but if I do, this time, I know I’ll lose her forever.
Note: In addition to descriptive love scenes, this book also contains scenes with foul language and caring for an ill parent. There is a happily ever after! While this is part of the Billionaire Romance series, this can be read as a stand-alone.

Now THIS is a REMAKE! YES
Overall: 5 of 5 stars Performance: 5 of 5 stars Story: 5 of 5 stars Reviewed: 05-22-24
Grace Sweeney and Luke Crawford … They were friends in middle school … close friends, best friends, the kind of friends that could have been, SHOULD have been … so … much … more. But then kids are kids and things happen … hurts happen … and when those early hurts don’t heal … they can’t heal because the past is the past right, and some things can’t be fixed … or can they? I can’t answer that question, but just possibly, “The Remake” can! Of course you WILL need headphones, tissues, snacks, drinks, and a punching bag! More on that later! This story, this beautifully written story captivated me! I loved the plot, the pacing, and I loved the characters! The plot is undeniably witty, entertaining and engrossing! While set in the present, the story skillfully dances back to the past when necessary to give the listener the FULL what, where, when, and why of Grace and Luke’s past! It was an enlightening glimpse into HOW their personalities developed and added so much depth to this moving story! For fear of playing spoiler, I’m giving no other plot details, but know the flow is smooth, there’s the full range of emotions to be felt, along with some beautifully delivered heat, and when all is said and done, this listener was more than satisfied! There is a full cast of supporting characters, all equally well developed with a beautiful balance of likability. I loved Grace’s mother and wondered if perhaps she might be interested in adopting me! A few of Grace’s coworkers I’d love to lunch with, and some other characters … remember that punching bag I touched on earlier? I’ll not name names, but I’m sure you won’t have trouble guessing! I was so happy with the pacing of this story. There was laughter, heat, tears and worry, but no dwelling overly long on anything, and no dragging! I had time to “feel” and feel fully, but never an urge to race on ahead! The characters and scenes came brilliantly and beautifully alive through clear, convincing, and stunningly emotional narration! I loved the voicing choices! So unique and so distinct for each character that I had no difficulty discerning who was speaking! What I can’t stress enough is how realistic the emotion, the feelings, EVERYTHING came through. I sat TRANSFIXED, feeling like a voyeur hiding, watching and listening to REAL people! I did not want to come up for air as I sat listening to our author’s stunning vision come vibrantly alive! Five fantastic stars across all categories! I loved it!
One of the premises of the story is that there is a billionaire family living in Syracuse New York. Syracuse is rather small City with a significant crime problem that gets way too much snow. It just seems like a really odd choice for the author to have picked and I believe she probably did so because she knows the city, but other than the name of a single hospital that I know actually exists since your Syracuse New York, there was really nothing specific about the city itself in this romance. The way she described the billionaire family and the city they inhabit, it really gave me more of the feel of New York City. Throughout this book, the heroine struggles to earn money to provide proper treatments for her mother's health issue. And for most of the book, there's the threat that her mother will die if she doesn't get a kidney transplant. the heroine needs to earn money to be able to pay for this. I have to wonder why her mother would not qualify for New York State Medicaid, which is actually excellent health insurance that would definitely pay for a kidney transplant. And why wouldn't her mother just go on Dialyisis rather than die waiting for a kidney transplant? And at one point the male lead transfers the mother from one hospital to another, and I hate to say I doubt that billionaires have the ability to move a person from one hospital to another if they're not even on HIPPA, much less the health care proxy for the patient. So my criticism really is that the author needed to have someone who has some vague idea of how the medical system works vet this book before publishing... And as I thought that the male lead of this book did overstep in a major way when he decided to make medical decisions for the female leads mother. It all ends up for the best, and she forgives him... But for me that would be a sign that a woman should run the other way.
We met Luke in book 1 of this series. He's now front and center of a book and guess what - he doesn't know what he wants in life. Honestly, who all does these days? :) But that's what makes him mostly endearing. He was asked to spearhead an audit that Grace Sweeney, his old high school friend, was working on for her company. But Luke would much rather enjoy a good meal, even one he's cooking in his brother's office, than deal with paperwork. But the day he has to run to his brother's cabin upstate, Grace has to go with him. They didn't account for the storm, or the fallen tree, eh? But that's where all the fun started. And the honesty of what happened in their lives when they were younger came out. Good book with lots of heart, emotion, steam, and emotional connections. Can't wait for more.
If you haven’t read the mix up (book 1) I highly recommend that you start there because it was SO GOOD!! This gave me everything I wanted in my contemporary romance palette cleanser. I devoured this book in one day. Eve has a way of writing books that just pull you in and make you fall in love. I loved Gracie our main character and Luke who we met in book one! I really resonated with Gracie’s hardworking and no play outlook on life and learning about her mom and the struggles she has had financially all of her life really hit home. This book is truly an enemies to lovers with a childhood friendship twist! They absolutely despise each other and the enemies last for more than just the first five pages. I really had so much fun and laughed while reading this. I hope she releases another book in this series about Ryan because I love the Crawford men and revisiting this storyline.
This is the 2nd book in this series but can be read as a standalone without any problem. This book features Luke and Grace. They have a past history, but are forced to work together some years later. Luke doesn't want to be part of the business, but Grace is looking for a promotion and so she wants the audit that she and Luke are working on to go well. She is really trying to be professional.
This book features one of my favorite tropes, and I was especially happy because it was Grace who was grumpy and Luke who was the sunshine in this story. Luke is really so sweet, I think I fell long before Grace did. The dual POV was important in this book because it allowed us to see the motivations for some of the actions the characters took. It made over the top reactions make a bit more sense.
We fell in love with Colton and Frances in book #1, get ready to feel emotional with this one. The youngest Crawford doesn't have his mind where his brothers want it, and that can be a problem. Luke still didn't find his calling in the business, and that makes Colton force a hand in pulling him to where he wants it. Luke, not satisfied with that, has other ideas. In the crossfire comes Grace, a past friend turned enemy, who has to try and be professional for the sake of a promotion at her job, when all she wants is to never see Luke again. It is a fast paced and I sensed as a too short read. The banter was funny and there were swoon worthy moments between the two. The book is dual POV.
I read this book so fast, I couldn’t put it down! The banter was entertaining and Luke is so sweet and charismatic. I like when the chapters change perspectives so you really get to understand both characters, their past and their motivations. I loved that the characters grow as individuals and learn from their past and especially when they better themselves for each other and together. A super cute almost enemies to lovers, second chance romance! A bit of a slow burn to get to the spice but it was good!! Can’t wait to read about the next Crawford brother!
When the youngest Crawford brother is forced to work in the family business, he tried everything he could to show his brothers how terrible he was for the job. It's not what he wanted to do with his life, but he went along with it until a blast from the past arrives and is forced to work along side him.
The Remake is the second billionaire romance that follows a Crawford brother. Book 1 is The Mix-Up and I recommend reading both so you get to know the amazing and charming Crawford brothers.
This book has so many swoon worthy moments. The main characters have such a great love hate relationship, they can't stand eachother but fit so well together which makes the banter so damn good! The book is fast paced and a very short read. The mmc Luke is everything! It's a friends to enemies to lovers! One character is very Type A and the other extremely relaxed, dual pov, past turmoil and forced proximity!
This book has all the ups and downs, emotions, and spice you could ever want! I seriously love the heroine - she’s super relatable and smart. And Luke? Well … I mean, if I had to make a list of my fave book boyfriends he’d be at the top! Honestly, you can read this book even if you didn’t read book one, but I promise you, you’ll just go and read book one right after because you’re going to want more of Marian asap! Can’t wait for book 3.
Omg couldn’t put this down finished it in one day. I loved Luke character and how he wants to help everyone without even realising it. What can we say about Grace apart from an amazing lady. Loved watching how they went to what they become. I loved their banter and the emotional rollercoaster this book put in on. 5+ stars from me
billionaire enemies to lovers second chance at romance.
Luke Crawford used to be graces, best friend in high school, but due to a major miscommunication, they then became enemies because of Luke Holly was bullied all throughout high school, and she’s never really forgiven him for it.
They meet mini years later and are still Frenemies . Luke realizes his major mistake in his relationship with Grace, and decides to make up.
I loved it. It was cute and romantic. Would definitely suggest a read.
Audio Review: The Remake (Billionaire Romance #2) by Eve Marian, Narrated by Allie Martina and Gideon Frost
Smooth operator that's surprisingly all heart. Marian pushes emotions to the limit with Grace and Luke. From heartache to hopeful, Frost and Martina, breathe life into an epic, push and pull romance.
3.5 ⭐️ I wish I could actually give half stars on this app. I liked the friends to enemies to lovers. I also enjoyed how everything kind of circles back each other on how their past insecurities of being forgotten or needing to be excel stayed with them in adulthood. This book was definitely better than the first one, just a tad cheesy at times. Excited for the next book!

This sequel to “the mix-up” was so good. I read it all in one sitting and fell in love with the youngest Crawford brother. This spicy office romance was very enjoyable and I completely fell for Luke.
Would have been 4 stars but there was a couple inconsistencies….he was cooking with his tie over his shoulder….chapters later….it was the first time seeing him in a tie. Otherwise I enjoyed the book. The characters were likable and it was a quick sweet read.
Loved this story as it was a story and not just sex I read it all in one day, lol, it was that good ! I would put it down and then pick it right back up. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did !!
Loved it. She is a new author to me, and this is the second book that I have read, and what can I say? These books have heart, emotions, and plenty of drama that keep me reading.
Like and Grace love story kept Me on my toes, from the time they were children! I have recommended this book to my sister even though she likes horror books she enjoyed the 1st book in this series.
This would make a great Hallmark movie! The history between the characters was adorable. As far fetched as the art project still being at the school was… I loved what Luke did for Grace by finding it !
Fast read, good story line and some spice. I will continue to read this author’s work. Even though it’s a 2nd story it definitely stands alone and thankfully doesn’t recap the previous story.
This is a great story and I love the family dynamic. The relationships between the brothers and then the individual stories regarding how they find love and redemption are unique and interesting. Definitely worth reading g.
I enjoyed Luke and Grace's story. The connection that you've given the 3 brothers is a lot of fun. I like three characters and the series. I'm about to start Envy. Keep writing such fun stories.
