The Lost Fae Kings #1

Dance of the Forest King

Rate this book
Magic between the human world and Faerie is dying, and it's going to take more than the average heroes to heal the rift. It will need the Lost Fae Kings.

King Oberon and his brothers, Taranis and Mananan, have been separated from the rest of Faerie and their family, the Tuatha Dé Danann, for centuries. With Morrigan and her generals dead, they are finally free to roam both realms once more.

Curses and rampaging goddesses have left their scars on both the human world and Faerie and they are going to need not only their immense magic to repair the rifts; they are going to need family. They just don't know how big their family has gotten in their absence.

Oberon will sacrifice himself to save the worlds if he has to. He's the eldest and if anyone is going to die for magic, it's him. That's the plan… right until he meets his fated mate in all the chaos and she blows his plan to hell.

Chrissy loves magic more than she loves chocolate brownies and fantasy books. Being the best friend to Elise and Prince Kian has showed her that magic not only exists in the world, but that it's worth fighting for. The problem is, she doesn't have a drop.

When Oberon declares Chrissy is the one that will help save the worlds, and that he will make her magic rise, she can't believe her ears. She's going to learn there are some things you can't say no to, and when the King of Forests wants something, he won't stop until he gets it.

They might have a chance to save magic, but none of the Tuatha Dé Danann family will be ready for the darkness growing in the human world. It doesn't only want to break the two worlds magical connection, but unleash ancient horrors on both.

'Dance of the Forest King' is book one in a new fated mate's trilogy, based in the same world as the best-selling 'Fae Universe' series. It’s perfect for fans of K F Breene and C N Crawford or anyone who loves Fae Romance with plenty of magic, myth, and spice. Please note it contains swearing, sex scenes and graphic violence.

Well, it was entertaining. The book also pretty much follows the same formula as the other two series in this universe. But if you want something short, fast-paced, easy, and hot, then go for it, this is definitely the book.

Chrissy won me over the moment she said her sister to fuck off. I really liked her and her sassiness. Alessa always does very likable FMC, at least for me.

Daddy Oberon is so sexy in a very overprotective fae male way. Salt and pepper hair/beard is my weakness, I didn't stand a chance. But like, it was well stated how much older the kings were than his nephews, yet Oberon didn't know he was mating with Chrissy? 😅 But I loved Freya's answer to that!

“You are the magic I've wanted for my entire life,” she whispered, holding him close.
Oberon's smile was brilliant above her. “And you are the love I've never thought I'd deserve.”

They're so sweet 💞

I was in a reading slump and just the announcement of this surprise release got me out of it! If you loved the Fae Universe and the Fae Princes, you are going to LOVE this book! Especially if you are into daddies… because this series is about the Fae Princes’ UNCLES!!!!! Yes you read that right! Silver Fox Faes!!!!! Alessa knocked it out of the park as usual! While these books are somewhat short (under 300 pages), we get character depth, plot AND spice and all of that is well balanced! While you could read this first, I highly recommend starting with Kiss of the Blood Prince! Just run! All the books in this universe are SO FREAKING GOOD!

Ahhhh to be back in the world of the fae!!
I loved the relationship that formed and the magic that took place because of it.
The appearance of past characters always makes me so happy. I am also a sucker for fated mates storylines so that was a win as well.
Alessa continues to do an amazing job of telling so much in such a short amount of time.

GODSDAMN YOU ALESSA & YOUR ABSOLUTELY IRRESISTIBLE SEXY ASS FICTIONAL DADDIES.

I’m writing you from the past because the trilogy is still a secret at this point & the sheer willpower it’s taking me to lock this secret in the vault is STAGGERING. Thank the gods for @molly & @lemonade💀

Firstly, I feel like I say this with most Alessa books but the depth of research she puts into establishing her magic system is astounding. Even if most of the words go right over my head🤣

For my tastes, I love that it’s just enough fantasy to feel all magical and whimsy without overloading your brain with world-building.

NOW LET’S TALK ABOUT THESE CHARACTERS HMM? Fvcking love Chrissy. She’s the epitome of a kick ass Alessa FMC with spunk & an edge that differentiates her from the other women (because by this point there are a LOT💀)

Two words: DADDY. OBERON. Holy fvckity fvck my dudes y’all are ✨not ready✨ for this powerful ass fae king that is aged like the FINEST wine. I loved how he legit felt like a giant (& I do mean giant) teddy bear. Until he went all protective fae & turned into a terrifying beast obviously🤣

Last thing & I swear I’ll shut up THAT ENDING!!!! It was so violent & adrenaline pumping it had me over here ready to storm the battlefield at 2 am.

Good gods I need the rest of the books ASAP. Imma go blackmail Alessa into giving them to me now 💁🏻‍♀️

I adore Alessa Thorne. I don’t know how she continually churns out funny and relatable and romantic and sexy and charming stories over and over again.

However, this one felt rushed to me. I wish I could have seen Oberon meet Chrissy’s family. I wish Eric had more of a presence. The climatic battle was over so quickly. And the looming evil was mostly in the background. It would have had more impact if we’d seen some interaction with the bad folks.

Still overall an enjoyable and spicy read.

Good Addition To The World.

This book is a good continuation of the world building that Alessa began with her fae universe series. However, for some reason, I felt the book, was missing something and did seem a bit slower than the previous books. While, this book is the first in the lost fae kings series, to get the full extent of the universe, people should start with the first fae universe book before they read this one.

I’ve enjoyed Alessa’s books in the past but this one I just couldn’t really get into and I couldn’t tell you why. I don’t think it’s a bad book, but I feel like it was moving too fast between Oberon and Chrissy. I just wasn’t able to connect them, unfortunately.

Move over Fae Princes, the Fae Kings have arrived and brought the sexy 🌶️ with them

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Alessa fans, we are back in the Fae Universe and it feels so good. First and foremost, there are 7 books in this universe that occur before this takes place. All of the characters from those books show up at some point in here, and it is a continuation of the timeline so…. bottom line rec: don’t read this as a stand-alone, read the other ones first. Sorry 🤷‍♀️ it’s worth the ride.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Ok onto this book!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
After the Fae princes and the Ironwood family managed to defeat the Morrigan and her generals, the boundaries between the human and other realms were finally fully open. This freed the three uncles of our beloved Fae princes, the Lost Fae Kings. They are the older brothers of the Fae Prince’s father and are here to fix the dying magical bond between the realms to save both humans and Fae from destruction.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Up first is Oberon, eldest and king of the forests and animals. The minute he meets Chrissy (best friend of Elise from book 1!) there is a sizzling attraction between them. What follows is the beginning of a new quest to save the world, combined with a super steamy attraction between these two.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This was over too quick 🥲 but that was redeemed by a lot of great character cameos and the promise of more adventures & fun pair ups to come 😍 Run, don’t walk, to dive back into this series!!!

Bonus note: I can’t stress this enough, but the banter in this was hilarious. Alessa usually has great and funny banter but the amount of times I highlighted a line… and then made a point to leave my only note as “🤣🤣🤣” … this happened frequently y’all. You’ll get spicy goodness from this, but you’ll also get so many chuckles & actual laugh out louds 😂
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Tropes & Themes:
💚 Older daddy energy meets possessive Fae male energy
🖤 Fated mates
💚 Sassy FMC coming into her magical powers
🖤 Lots and lots of steamy 🌶️🌶️🌶️ (quantity)
💚 Great humor & banter 😂😂😂

Not my favorite. I didn't really care for Chrissy in Elise's book (from what I can remember, honestly she didn't leave much of an impression) but I came into the book open-minded.

However, I just never warmed to Chrissy. While I DID like her in (most) of her scenes with Oberon, I found her overdramatic and annoying in the rest. The first half of the story all she does is make a fool of herself in front of Oberon and quite literally runs away when she had even a moment in his presence. Sometimes it had to do with whatever feelings he invoked in her so strongly that she felt the need to escape but honestly it wasn't a good look on her.

She came across as more immature and dramatic than her age (thirty-six) and sure, she was sort of the eccentric type and obsessed with all things magic but it was hardly an excuse to be... Whatever she was for the entire story.

The plot was very intriguing. Oberon and his two brothers were fascinating. I loved the reunion with them and their nephews. So cute.

But what made this book enjoyable for me and worth finishing and putting up with silly Chrissy was Oberon. Oberon was an interesting hero to get to know. Seeing him adjust and experience the human realm after so long and finding new life in & for himself and his mate considering he thought he was in his twilight was fascinating. He was pretty funny at times too.

All of the lost fae kings sound super interesting and I'm looking forward to their books.

Chrissy actually having magic and Oberon convincing her she had it should have been more interesting than it was. I felt it was sort of a superficial plot because it was never explained why Chrissy had magic or why it never surfaced before. She was something like a spring witch, or that's the information I assumed from what little was said. If so, how did that happen? I don't remember why any one person has magic while others don't in this author's world and I felt a bit confused the entire time regarding her magic. Especially because somehow when asked to do a cleanse of the evil altar the first time she just does it and it works?? Just like that? No mental blocks because of self doubt? No panicking or being nervous and overthinking it?? Nada? 🤷🏻‍♀️

The ending was very meh. It happened super fast and was over just as quickly. Didn't really create the necessary drama or angst the author was going for tbh.

Overall it was an okay read. Not bad but just didn't live up to whatever I was expecting which I honestly couldn't say. Guess it didn't meet the vibe check, so to speak.

Why do I keep reading!? The world building is great but the dialogue drives me nuts and the found family/interactions is so cheesy...and yet I continue.

When Alessa made her surprise announcement for this new series of books, you better believe I made a mad dash to download the first one immediately! 😂

I was soooo happy to be back in this world of again. It’s definitely one of those happy places I like to hang out in, and lemme say, these new Uncles are 👌!

First of all, if you haven’t read the rest of the 𝘞𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘩 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘍𝘢𝘦 books, you’ll want to start there so that you can meet all these amazing characters. These are fun, addicting reads, with 🌶️ that hits just right.

And these new uncles are the perfect addition to this sprawling family.

Oberon, our MMC, is the Fae King in charge of Forests and Animals. (And seeing as I just so happen to love Forests, of course I loved him right away!)

Chrissy is our sassy FMC, whom we met her way back in Book 1, 𝘒𝘪𝘴𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘉𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘗𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘦. She has always loved magic, but doesn’t believe she has any of her own. She has always worshipped the God of the Forest, and look who just showed up!

𝙈𝙖𝙜𝙞𝙘 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙨 𝙢𝙖𝙙𝙚 𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙝𝙤𝙧𝙣𝙮, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙗𝙤𝙩𝙝 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙨𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨.

Same girl, same. 😘

What an excellent addition to this family of characters. As for the other uncles, I am VERY interested in getting to know Taranis, the Dragon one…🐉

What this book is giving:
✅ All our favorite characters are back!
✅ Fated Mates
✅ Mature FMC (36yo) w/Sass
✅ MMC with Daddy-vibes
✅ Protective Fae Male
✅ Magic
✅ Banter
✅ A magical den I would very much like to visit
✅ Good uses for Antlers
✅ One Stag > One Horse???

I love Alessa Thorns books - she is an absolute auto buy author for me. Her worlds are always well written, enchanting and intricately linked (this book is a continuation of the Wrath of the Fae and Ironwood series) I love that we get to see characters from previous books, so much so that they feel like friends and families. Also they are always smoking hot too - which is a must! Definitely read if you love magic, fae, epic battles and fated mates!

Chrissy is a fantastic FMC. She is strong, opinionated, sexy and stubborn - in just the perfect way! She works in Kian’s castle and is besties with Elise (please read Kiss of the Blood Prince!). When Oberon and the fae kings return she is immediately attracted to Oberon. I mean.. hot older guy, with antlers(!), who has A LOT of power and is very, very well muscled and protective - who wouldn’t be?! They set out to right the world (no spoilers!) and find themselves becoming closer. Their chemistry and arguing are 🔥🔥.

Overall this gets all the stars and recommendations! I loved it! Plus - bonus - the next book is out on Friday!

3.5 Stars rounded to four. Will start off by saying that I didn't read any of books in the first series. I honestly found the book about Mananan first and was going to read that, but figured I'd start with the first in this series. Thankfully it wasn't too confusing coming midway into a story. However, I did feel there were too many people/characters into the story which detracted from the story. I felt like the author just wanted to throw all those people in there to keep nodding to the previous series even though only one or two people actually contributed to the story.

I didn't care for Chrissy who is the FMC, she just came off as really annoying and indecisive, which was frustrating since she is almost 40 years old. A lot of these characters (who I'm going to assume are pretty close in age -- the humans not the Fae) came off as childish which was off putting.

Oberon was the only redeeming factor in this book and the only reason why I didn't give up on this book because I did think of it a few times.

"In fact, she had nearly half a bookshelf of unread fantasy books that she needed to catch up on too."

Me too girl. And yet when Alessa surprised us with this release earlier this week I dropped everything (of course).

When diving into Alessa's books I started with the fae universe and so it will also hold a special place in my heart . To say I was excited to get back to this world would be an understatement!

I love where she is taking these stories and the all the mythology she has woven into it ! Loved all the cameos from the well known characters and LOVE the addition the uncles .

I am always so quick to relate to Alessa's FMC's and Chrissy was no exception.  I love her journey through the story , learning to believe in herself and see herself the way her loved ones do.

As always the banter between the couple and the ever-growing family was top tier. I never tire of fated mate, touch her and die and one horse trope. They all hit their mark in this .

It’s no secret that I love everything Alessa Thorn writes. But the Fae Universe has a special place in my heart. From the Fae Princes, to the Ironwood series, and now the start of The Lost Fae Kings, the Daddies of the Fae Universe, if you will. 🥰😉😏

I recently finished Dance of the Forest King and it was so wonderful to be back in the Fae Universe!

Get this, 3 hot Fae Daddies pop up out of no where to inform the world that the land is ☠️, and they have to save it. The main MMC in this is King Oberon - think prince Kian but like….. matured. 😏He’s big and kind and forward - everything we want in a hot Fae male.

Our FMC Chrissy is over 30 and curvy and wants magic more than all else - and is convinced she doesn’t have any. Her relationship with her family is tense and she’s found a family at the fae castle with Prince Kian and Elise, her best friend.

When Oberon tells her she’s needed to save the world with her magic (!) their insta attraction goes to insta love and hotness real quick!!

The spice is spicy, the story quick and comforting, the uncles red hot, and the MC’s give me everything I love in an AT book. I’m so excited that we have two more uncle king daddies to get to! 😏😏

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

I really liked returning to this world. It was great to see new characters and new problems that needed solving.

I liked the character list at the end. It's been a little while since I read any books by this author and set in this world so it took me a few chapters to remember the characters and their roles.

Chrissy was a great character. She's fierce and independent and while she didn't like Oberon initially, she soon realised they had a connection.

The magic used by Chrissy and Oberon was interesting. I'd like to know more about the Fomorians and I have a feeling that they'll be back.

I did manage to predict the plot twist but I still enjoyed the build up and the reveal.

The pacing was just right and I finished reading this book in one sitting.

I can't wait to read the next book.

i didn’t read the og series (“Kiss of the Blood Prince”) and i don’t think i will but i liked the beginning of this one. characters weren’t annoying or not for long. i thought that they achieved their tasks too easily but at least there was more unnecessary drama.

chrissy was pissing me off with her stubbornness about her powers at the beginning. if an ancient fae king tells you you have magic, you believe him.

i loved the cheesy lines.
“Then it's a good thing you have such big hands, isn't it?" she replied and dared to wink at him.
Oberon's eyes heated. "Don't worry. They match the rest of me.”

Thorn delivers again!

Do yourself a favor and go through and read anything Alessa Thorn has written. The characters, the banter, story and spice are always on point and I come back to her stories frequently.

This specific book I think is best read after reading the wrath of the fae and ironwood’s series, so you can better understand the different character interactions but you can still follow the story if you haven’t read those yet.

Chrissy is a character who knows what she wants and who she is. Chrissy’s friendship with Elise is hilarious and her love with Oberon is so sweet. I got annoyed with him but it lasted like 4 pages until he realized his mistakes.

Overall low angst book and easy reading.

the bar just keeps getting higher

I loved loved loved it! I’ve adored Chrissy since kiss of the blood Prince, and it was amazing to get to see her get her own story and her own power! And holy gods Oberon. Who wouldn’t love a sexy ancient prince who’s built like a fridge.
Every single time I read a new Alessa book I’m amazed that the bar keeps getting higher and I love them more and more, and this was no exception!
The new magical and villains are amazing, and they blend seamlessly with the established world that’s already in place. I can’t wait for the rest of the series!

I’m absolutely in love with Alessa’s Fae Universe, and I can’t even tell you how nice it is to be back in it. Here’s the short of it before I go into details - this book was was like a warm hug for my brain and soul, and everything I didn’t know I needed.
When I got the chance to read this, I instantly re-read it out of sheer joy. We get to see familiar characters right off the bat, and the introduction of new characters just makes it so amazing. OF COURSE I’m obsessed with the uncles and I am absolutely ready for more! I don’t know how Alessa does it everytime, but the magic and story are just so beautifully done and it’s already become an immediate comfort read for me.

One of my all time favorite series is Alessa’s fae universe. This story expands that amazing world and gives us a deeper look into the continued struggles after magic came roaring back to the world. Also Chrissy is one of my favorite characters from book one so I am LOVING HER in this book. As always, the author brings the perfect mix of spice and murder with a healthy sprinkle of profanity. The only problem with this book, I wish it were longer 😍. I’m eager to see the rest of this enstallment!

I wanted to like this one but I cant. And that's probably because it has too many of my pet peeves in one book. And I'm not just going after this one author or book. But I really don't like when we've gotten multiple books deep into a universe and every previous character has to make a cameo for no apparent reason...especially if that happens via house party or some kind of holiday get together. This book is too short for that. Also, Chrissy is one of my least favorite characters in this series.

Surprise

I absolutely love Alessa Thorn! I was pleasantly surprised this morning to find that she released DANCE of the FOREST KING, a continuation of the fae and ironwood series. I really like the fact that Oberon is the "older" hot as fire uncle to the fae princes, and Chrissy is so wonderfully feisty and knows what she wants. The new threat is very intriguing and makes me want to keep reading.. Now to sit back a wait for more

Dance of the Forest King was an amazing read, introducing three new MMCs (for each book in the trilogy) plus a wonderful new plot of magic + corresponding villains. I was hooked right from the beginning, and I loved the MCs and their thought processes. It was a proper grumpy-grumpier romance, with so many hurt/comfort scenes, and many many meddling's from the extended family ❤️

I am so excited for the rest of this series to come out!

More Fae Universe

This is a new series set in the colourful, magical world of the Fae Universe. As always with Alessa's books the world building is supreme. All of our favourites from the Fae world are here Kian, Bayn and Killing as well as more Greatdrakes and a sprinkling of Ironwoods. So much fun! In a beautiful twist, the Lost Fae Kings are the daddies of the fae universe and they deliver!

Oberon gave some massive Forest Daddy™️ vibes, but the story itself almost felt kind of rushed? We're given this potentially world ending problem, and some super evil villains, but somehow the conflict felt very surface level. The potential for this story that was sketched out was so huge, and it felt like we only got a glimpse into what the plot could have been.
Chrissy and Oberon together were absolutely delightful though, and the spice was nice, so this is definitely worth a read.
