After the death of its beloved leader, a traveling carnival called Saturnalia faces its most turbulent circuit since its inception. Left in the hands of young Ngasha, the patchwork quilt that the carnival master held together begins to fray at the edges.
A once-loyal group begins to come apart at the seams, weakness in the very thread that holds Saturnalia together. With no choice but to push forward, the new carnival master and his troupe must band together or risk falling apart.
The road ahead is anything but smooth, but will the group of misfits be able to traverse it?
This book took me a while to get through. I stopped multiple times to go on to other books, which is not something I would normally do. It is a rather slow book, giving me Lord of the Rings style vibes as far as story telling goes. It makes it hard for me to read more than a few chapters at a time. But is it something I kept thinking about constantly and coming back to? Absolutely.
The multi-POV was something I struggled with initially, as it created a major overwhelm as far as the world building went. But towards the middle of the story, I found myself craving certain POVs.
This book also doesn’t follow the traditional story telling timelines as far as buildup, climax, and resolution. It felt long, but there’s a TON of story to get through with multiple POVs in a story like this.
I absolutely can see myself picking up the second book in the future to find out what happens to these amazing characters. I’m just hoping for a little bit more action in the upcoming books!
This book grabbed me from the first page! But if you don’t want to cry within the first 5 minutes of reading, this is not the book for you!
Plenty of spice! The plot kept me pulled in & wanting more! I fell in love with several of the characters. If you love a carnival type scene, this is the book for you.
This is a little bit of a slower start, but man once it gets started it is awesome! The authors have taken their time to build a great world and characters and well as to melt it together between the two writers. Absolutely recommended this book!!!
