Fellow Military Thriller readers, Brent Towns has been busy as we continue his latest series.

Brent Towns' "The Gods of War" series returns with its second installment, "Congo Ice," plunging readers back into the treacherous and politically charged world of covert operations. The narrative picks up in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, a nation on the precipice of chaos, with the enigmatic Gods of War orchestrating an uprising from the shadows. The stakes are high as the country's rich diamond mines become the currency of conflict. In "Congo Ice," we follow protagonists John 'Reaper' Kane and Raymond 'Knocker' Jensen, who are determined to thwart the generals' sinister plans. Their mission, which begins as a straightforward investigation, spirals into a complex web of deceit and danger. Towns masterfully crafts a narrative that is as much about the harrowing journey as it is about the destination, with each chapter ratcheting up the tension.

The heart of the story lies in the partnership between Kane and Jensen, whose camaraderie and wit provide a counterbalance to the relentless intensity of their mission. They are joined by Holly, a strategist with her own vested interest in the conflict, adding a new dynamic to the team. As they navigate through warzones and political minefields, their alliance is tested, and loyalty becomes as precious as the diamonds they are fighting over. "Congo Ice" is a testament to Towns' ability to weave intricate plots with action-packed sequences that keep readers on the edge of their seats. It's a thrilling ride through the underbelly of international espionage, where every decision could be a matter of life and death. For fans of military thrillers, this book promises to deliver an adrenaline-fueled experience that resonates with the complexities of modern warfare. Dive into the adventure and witness how Kane and Jensen face the chilling expanse of the Congo and the icy grip of the Gods of War. So, what are you waiting for? Congo Ice is an intriguing, original, and one-of-a-kind book by Brent Towns

This story begins and continues to its end with Kane and Knocker testifying about their previous mission in an interrogation room in front of MI6 members of a Parliament Intelligence Committee consisting of Charles German, Jack Holland, Christine, and Holly Smith.

The small team of covert operatives consisting of Kane. Knocker, and Holly, travel all over the Middle East tracking down the activities of the mysterious and unknown members of The Gods of War. But the primary location is in the Congo.

You need to follow the three operative team members as it attempts to survive the many attempts to prevent them from completing their mission! It's one great and exciting read!

This about the 200th book I have read this year and maybe the 4th or 5th 5* rating I have given in that time, it's that good
It's done from the perspective of the team giving a mission debrief to an oversight committee and it's done well
The story is well put together, with Reaper and Knocker creating their usual mayhem in their endeavours to stop the dogs of war. Lots of disparate storylines slowly come together as the book progresses and a lot of what is confusing becomes more understandable
This series has a lot to give, stick with it

Gripping storyline.

Yet again Kane and Jensen find themselves fighting against an enemy that is always one step ahead of them and ultimately no matter what they do they cannot catch up.
The generals are determined to fulfil their ambitions by any means necessary and ultimately return the world to a place where the old Russia can be a major force in the world again.
It's up to Kane and Jensen to find out who the remaining generals are and stop them from succeeding in their master plan.

Kane and Knocker follow leads to the Gods of War into the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The Gods are trying to get a hold of the diamond mines in the DRC and bring the country near to civil war. Lots of action in Africa and later Antwerp as they follow the Gods and get near to discovering what is going on. Another fast paced read in this new series and I'm looking forward to what will happen in this fight.

The debrief continues and though the team is getting answers the puzzle is still far from complete.

How two men can become such bullet magnets and still be breathing God's good clean air and be so entertaining is beyond me. Yet I can't help but love the action and the camaraderie between Knocker and Reaper. Brent Towns has a great way of keeping you engrossed with this style of action packed thrillers. 10/10.

Ambitious But Close

Author Towns has turned his characters Kane & Jensen into something close to pulp fiction. The Gods of War storyline is ambitious but at times the writing here falls below the bar Towns set for himself.
