Growing up in the eccentric streets of Melbourne, Australia, Cassandra (who prefers Cass) has always been a dreamer. With one of those last names that most people can't pronounce (it's Andre-oochi), she likes to keep people second-guessing with a new hobby every other day, way too many simultaneous writing projects, and a new book love every week.

You'll catch her in the wild with an iced coffee, a different hair colour, probably a new tattoo, and her music way too loud as she conjures up new plot points and tries to work out why her characters won't stick to the outline.

Follow along her caffeine fuelled chaos on her socials or her newsletter for sneak peeks of upcoming projects.

THIS BOOK ATE SO HARD, the fmc Scar is honestly hilarious and fierce at the same time she was so fun to read while also diving into her childhood trauma that was discussed in viscous games book 1.

I thought book 1 had crazy plot twists, but it was nothing in comparison to this books plot twist! I honestly couldn’t recommend this series more, and can’t wait to read more books by this author!!

I absolutely loved this book just as much as I loved the first. And of course it wouldn't be a Cass book without a smutty scene right off the bat 😂 It's why I love her so much. And of course she left me wanting more!

The MMC is Creed and I love him. We met him in the first one and we get to know him and The Savage Wings a lot more in this book. He's so thoughtful and kind and so in touch with his emotions, it actually made me long for him 🥹 He's so enamoured by the FMC and I just love that. He actually wants to talk about what's wrong instead of brushing it under the rug and considering he's a 6"4, burly, tattooed biker, it's actually nice to read. Especially in a dark romance when the men are usually "don't want to talk about my feelings, I just want to drink and punch things and have raging s3x". I mean I love that, but I love a guy in touch with his feelings more.

We also met the FMC is Scarlett in the first book, and we get to know her more and read about her processing her trauma more. We start the book with her and Creed grieving from the loss of someone (If you've read the first one, you'll know) and as the book goes on, they pretty much help each other through it. I loved Scarlett's fierceness and determination. She's funny, sarcastic and doesn't let anyone walk all over her. She's a great FMC.

After what happened at the end of the last book, I went into this one sad and heart broken. And without giving away any spoilers, she broke it some more, pieced it back together and broke it again! It's a wild ride and I honestly have whip lash.

Cassandras writing is as fabulous as always and this book is just perfect. I couldn't put it down! Cass has a way of writing that keeps you wanting more, but never wanting to read her books again, and tbh that's my favourite type of author. An author that leaves you conflicted! She is also fantastic at writing about trauma. So much so that I get so emotional like I'm the one going through it. It's honestly brilliant.

Cass and her books need to be talked about more! SHE DESERVES MORE HYPE!

Seriously did not expect to love this book even more than Dark Siren, Del and Enzo’s story had me hooked and at the edge of my seat but somehow Broken Songbird/Creed and Scarlett have jumped to the top of my favorite list!

Creed especially is now number one book boyfriend. “You lean, I lean” 🫠🫠🫠🔥🔥🔥🥰🥰🥰

I honestly couldn’t stop highlighting pretty much all of his lines and quotes, they were so beautiful! The way he takes care of Scarlett! Actually the way they take care of each other was just chefs kiss perfect!

I cannot wait for the next books in this series and I’m not above begging for a certain priest to get his story told 🥰

Dark Siren and Broken Songbird follow different couples but the overarching plot is what brings them together.

This is a story of finding yourself even in the darkest of times. Beware this is a dark mc club romance mixed with mafia - check trigger warnings

Thank you Cass for letting me be part of your beta team and for also sending me an arc copy of your book. I’m incredibly proud to see what you’ve accomplished and can’t wait for what comes next!

Broken Songbird is book 2 in @thatwriter.cassb dark romance series. I didn’t think I’d love this book more than Dark Siren but I really did. 🔥

What to expect:
🖤 Underworld and crime
🖤 Motorcycle club (a modern version I loved so much)
🖤 Fantastic Side characters (I love the mc club boys)
🖤 Forced proximity
🖤 Fiery attraction
🖤 Hand collar 😌
🖤 Action and dark themes - check TWs

Creed and Scar are one of my favourite book couples now. I especially loved creed, the unique temperament of a president of a bike club. His constant love for Scarlett, him accommodating her needs selflessly. Melted me. 🫠

This book is also very very spicy. Right from the start. But it’s done so tastefully for the story, I am so impressed with Cassandra’s writing. She wrote trauma, recovery, dark themes, you can really see her growth as a writer In this book! Dark romance is her calling. 🤌

This was a perfect follow up from the first book, I recommend reading Dark Siren first as it’s also fantastic!

Well, she’s done it again. She’s gone and traumatised me some more, broke my heart more than once and I can’t even complain because I asked for it 😅

I fell in love with Scar in Book 1 of the Vicious Games series, her story did NOT disappoint in Broken Songbird.

We finally get the answer to the burning question that the cliffhanger of Book 1 left us with, we see more of Del & Enzo’s love story but mostly we get to watch Scar process some of her trauma, start to find a semblance of peace, life traumatises her a little more, and then throws her a HUGE curveball and our girl just keeps keeping on all while giving us her witty banter that we love!

We also get to see a lot more of Creed and the Savage Wings and I’m not mad about that either! Creed is the perfect marshmallow, big, scary, biker dude and the way in which he just handles Scar and all her broken pieces is swoon worthy!

I feel like I can’t say anymore without massive spoilers, but in true Cass style, she’s left me wanting more.

ARC REVIEW

I really enjoyed this book! The spice was spicing and I was happy to get back into this dark world! I did see the plot twist coming from the beginning but it didn’t feel predictable necessarily! It was more of a “ah ha!!! I knew it!!” moment! I took out a star because the pace of the story was a bit slow for me. I do still recommend this book!

Somehow I managed to enjoy this book even more than I did Dark Siren, which is saying something because Del and Enzo are possibly one of my favorite book couples.

Scar and Creed though? They have my entire heart. The relationship between these two will have you swooning through the entire book. Scarlett is such a wonderful character, she could read as a damsel but girl is anything BUT weak. She is fearless and strong willed and a powerhouse of a human. As the president of a biker gang, Creed is tough and ruthless but also has a heart of solid gold and is such a soft soul when it comes to his girl. The cast of side characters are all phenomenal and I want more of so many of them!

You lean, I lean 💜

So very anticipated and definitely did not disappoint. It had a slightly less dark vibe for me compared to the first in the series, despite some heavy stuff happening.
Although the author has nicely set the stage for multiple future storylines with the characters introduced, I really, really hope Mateo gets his book next😍

Oh my gosh 😭 I am so happy to be back in this world.

I’m in absolute love with Creed and Scar’s story. I never thought anyone could top Del and Enzo for me but I was wrong. Scarlett our bold and beautiful FMC who has trauma to work through. The strength she possesses is beyond anything I could ever dream of. Our Creed 😮‍💨 I mean I loved the glimpses we got from him in the first book, but I really LOVE him in this book. He is like stone but he loves his found family fiercely and he is so soft for our FMC. And the possessiveness he has towards Scar 🥵 I absolutely adored that Del was a huge part of this book as well. A lot of time standalone interconnected series only give us a snapshot of the other couples. And this book was not the case and I loved for it. We gotta keep our girl gangs together. Also, I thought I wouldn’t forgive Cass for the beginning of this book and yet again I was proven wrong. I will say no more as to not spoil anything.

What To Expect:
•Book Two in the Vicious Games Series
•Motorcycle Club Mafia Romance
•Nicknames
•Dual POVs
•Forced Proximity
•Revenge
•Found Family
•Trigger Warnings ⚠️ (may contain spoilers)
*Explicit sex
*Violence, blood and murder
*Conversations and depictions of activities relating to the drug trade and general criminal behaviour
*Drug use and conversations about addiction
*Mental health including but not limited to trauma resulting in panic attacks
*On-page Kidnapping
*Mentions of child neglect
*On-page torture, including acts that simulate drowning, usage of knives, and mutilation
*Threats of sexual assault and forced pregnancy
*Tampering with birth control
*Mentions of abortion
*Blasphemy
*Mentions of human trafficking
*Kink-related activities, including but not limited to impact play, choking, biting, motorcycle shenanigans, rough play resulting in bruises.
•and so much more

I can’t wait for what’s to come in book three. Especially if who I think is going to be the main focus 😈

“My violent tendencies want to play with yours.”

I was beyond feral to read this book after the cliffhanger from Dark Siren (book one). In fact I started reading it at 9pm and blasted through it to 3AM because I could not put it down.
I absolutely love being immersed back in this dark underworld.
If you have read Dark Siren you must read this! If you have not read Dark Siren, read it now and prepare yourself for this book!

*Be sure to check the trigger warnings before reading!

As with Dark Siren this book starts off with a bang and hooks you immediately.
As with Dark Siren and carried throughout this book- I love the complexity, trauma, healing and acceptance between these characters. It is just so beautifully written and expressed.
This book will toy with your heart in a big way. But even if you are saying “why” in the beginning you will end up saying “thank you” in the end.

“Are you going to be a good boy and worship your deity?”
“Don’t forget goddesses can still be punished for their attitudes.”

Besides our awesome leads Scarlett and Creed– which reminds me…*Adds Creed to list of book boyfriends* - the immersion into the found family dynamics of the biker gang is wonderful!
And to those of you who love Del and Enzo, like me, we do get to see more of them through Scarlett and Creeds POV!

Other reasons I love this book and you should read it:
-Duel POV
-“Good girl” & “Good boy”
-Tattoos are a love language
-Hand Necklaces for days
-Spice is *chefs kiss*

Overall this is an amazing book!
So much of the dialogue between Scarlett and Creed is quotable and memorable. As you can see from this review.

“You lean, I lean.”

I cannot wait for book three to see what the author has up her sleeve! In the meantime I will be doing a reread of book one and two!

Book 2 in the Vicious Games series, Broken Songbird had massive shoes to fill.

A Melbourne based MC romance with a bit of Mafia thrown in as well, there are some heavy themes but it is a darkly delicious tale Cass has weaved.

Picking up where we left off from Dark Siren, this story follows Scarlett and Creed. It was great to see more of Del and Enzo, as well as the Savage Wings MC side of things, and I’ve instantly fallen in love with a few side characters that I’m hoping and praying we get a story for.

We fix some of the burning questions from book 1 and leave with a whole lot more. I see what you did there… getting me hooked on this series.

Creed is *chef kiss* and up there with my top favourite men.
“I lean, you lean”
The patience and care he gives to Scarlett is amazing and I love the found family within the club.

Without spoiling anything I highly recommend you pick this book up and read it. It won’t disappoint.

Book 2 in the "Vicious Games"-series "Broken Songbird" starts a bit before the ending of "Dark Siren" but then it continues the story changing the perspective to Del's sister Scarlett and the President of the Bikergang Savage Wings, Creed.
I just love the way Cassandra writes and the worlds she's built. In all of the books as well as in "Broken Songbird" you'll find incredible characters, who've been through so much but came out stronger on the other side. Scarlett finds a second family in the notorious biker gang and Creed just let's her be herself and make every move on her own pace. I was swooning SO hard 🫠🫠
That being said, if you like dark mafia romance with morally grey characters, yes, Creed is a cinnamon roll but don't you lay a finger on his woman!!, found family, relatable characters who struggle every once in a while, plot twists and turns, that'll make you gasp and amazing 🌶️🌶️, put this series on your TBR asap!!

Am I not allowed to be broken?

“I'm so tired of having to justify myself. Am I not allowed to be broken?”

4.5⭐️Wow this book is so full of surprises. It starts off with this epic heat three-way and then there’s just devastation basically straight after it’s so not what I expected from this book and I’m not mad about it. I’m loving it.

“This, us, will happen, so when you're ready to gift me any of your shattered pieces, I'll be here.”

I love how patient he is. They’re so great together complimenting each other's broken pieces. It’s really beautiful to watch how they grow and develop together through so much heartbreak and trauma.

I’m gonna be real, I hated the plot twist at the end. I hated it. It made me feel too much and I wasn’t ready for it and I was sitting in the car thinking what is actually happening here and why?

I wasn’t prepared to enjoy these books as much as I did!
Well written, great pace and enough smut to keep even me happy 😆
No spoilers but the surprise twist made me drop my kindle and yell ‘NO EFFING WAY!’ out loud 🤣
I wish I had read them before I met the author because I woulda had words with her about *that* death. Haha

Definitely worth the read! Can’t wait for the next one.

𝕐𝕠𝕦 𝕝𝕖𝕒𝕟, 𝕀 𝕝𝕖𝕒𝕟

Cass has spent the last year and a half in a time out because of the cliffhanger at the end of Dark Siren however I have now forgiven her (just) for the delectable offering of Broken Songbird.

We return to the Melbourne underworld and things have shifted focus to our songbird Scarlett who is trying to make sense of the world following the events of the previous book. Creed is there in all his delightful swoonworthy glory watching and waiting for her.

I adored Scarlett’s journey of finding a way of dealing with all her broken pieces and as for Creed - that man I swear!!

𝔚𝔞𝔱𝔠𝔥𝔦𝔫𝔤 𝔶𝔬𝔲 𝔢𝔵𝔦𝔰𝔱 𝔦𝔰 𝔱𝔥𝔢 𝔟𝔢𝔰𝔱 𝔢𝔵𝔭𝔢𝔯𝔦𝔢𝔫𝔠𝔢 ℑ’𝔳𝔢 𝔢𝔳𝔢𝔯 𝔥𝔞𝔡

Together they are perfection and they balance each other in ways that no one else previously has done. Cass did such a wonderful job weaving previous plot strings into new storylines and packed this book with enough tension, spice, sweetness twists and turns that we could ever need. And I’m glad I can breathe a little easier at the end of this one! That being said - Cass if you touch a hair on Theo’s head we will be having words!
