A Father's Bliss

Rate this book
Marcus Debois is completely off limits.

Not only is he an agent at the publishing house I work at, but he also happens to be my father’s sworn enemy, and my ex’s dad.

It doesn’t matter that I knew Marcus before my ex, and even had a pretty big, very secret, crush on the man who is also fifteen years my senior, he is forbidden. A hard limit. A do not pass go, do not collect two hundred dollars.

And for four years, I respected that moral boundary and did really well not crossing it.

But like any good romance plot, there has to be a point where the tension breaks. Where the two main characters are put into a situation where they can no longer ignore their feelings and say screw it right before finally giving in.

Looks like for me, it’s when I hear he’s spending Father’s Day alone, and I can’t help but insert myself into his no-plans plan. But I'm not going to overthink it. It will be a quick dinner–a professional one, even, where we can talk about work and manuscripts and all things publishing. There will be no rendezvous boat rides, no sexy lessons on patience and catching fish, and most certainly no playing with explicit toys in the middle of the lake.

Because if there is one thing I know for sure, it’s that while I still harbor a crush on Marcus Debois, there’s not a chance in hell, he feels the same.

Hey there! My name is Lee. I like to think of myself as a bibliophile who belongs to the Ravenclaw house.
I write romances that can sometimes be sweet and spicy or deadly and kinky. I'm a firm believer in happily ever afters and men who always make sure their woman is satisfied first.
When I'm not writing, I'm drowning myself in a good book, losing track of time on the Nintendo Switch with my kids, and laughing or yelling at one of my husbands practical jokes. (He likes to leave fake spiders and roaches around.)
Also, something important to note. I live off Chai and Dean Winchester.

DAMNNNNN this was HOT 🥵

Honestly, I am convinced that no one can create tension in a novella like Lee Jacquot. Like the tension in this was THICKKKKK.

I absolutely love a forbidden romance but then add workplace and ex's father.. I'm a goner.

This was such a spicy quick read and I loved every second of it

Highlights:
"You can take more than that. Show me." I AM SORRY, WHAT 🫠

"I... am not my son."

ALSO THE EPILOGUE.. YESSSSS. Ok bye.

-novella
-workplace
-forbidden
-ex's dad
-age gap

3.5✨ (rounded down to 3 for GR)
3🌶️

Happy belated Father’s Day, let’s pretend I read this yesterday!

I’m torn about this one, but decided on 3.5 rounded down for a couple reasons.

The FMC Renee works in the literary publishing world, along with her father, and her father’s rival and nemesis, at least according to her father, the MMC Marcus. He’s about 15 years her senior, and since the first moment she’s laid eyes on him, she’s full in lust and half in love.

Not knowing if he’d ever return her feelings, Renee goes for the best she could get by dating his son, closer to her eye and less scandalous to her father, but it doesn’t work out. He’s not… him. He’s not his father.

Fast forward to Father’s Day, Renee and his son are done, and Marcus has asked her to fill in for his literary assistant on maternity leave. After agreeing, and learning of his plans to be alone on Father’s Day, Renee offers an innocent dinner to talk shop, but it soon delves into anything but innocence…

So, I wasn’t a fan at all about the FMC having just dated the son as a “replacement” for the father, and her and Marcus discussed it a bit too much for my tastes. I would’ve rather had them, both Renee and Marcus, pining, like Marcus did.

The spice was what I was here for, and the spice was great. That’s probably where all the stars go on this. It was tension filled, metaphorical, hot, involved toys, with a demanding Daddy™️ MMC. Love to love it.

The other reasons for stars off was that this desperately needed another proof. There were editorial mistakes sprinkled throughout, sometimes obvious. Looking at YOU, Calvin Klein misspelled as Calvin Kline…

This is also the last of the Holinights novella series, which is sad. I’ve enjoyed them!

Beta read

Goddamn I loved these two! And I am so beyond blessed to have had the honor to beta read the last book in the holinight novella series and one with my fave trope of all time: ex boyfriends dad!!!

It honestly is the long term pining for me. I’m such a sucker for a slow burn type of relationship filled with stolen glances and light brushes and then one day…when the stars align and the opportunity comes up, SHIT FINALLY HAPPENS!! And during Father’s Day weekend no less ;) gosh I eat up a good forbidden romance and a Lee Jacquot novella always hits right for me!!

Sexy fishing lesson, all the toys & a good ass epilogue await 🤤

Workplace romance

RATING
⭐️- 2.5
🌶️- 3

Mhmm, I’m not sure how I feel about this. I was really hyped to read a quick little exes dad story but it kinda fell flat.

1)This reads more as a workplace, forced-proximity, age gap book.

2)The forbidden vibes didn’t exactly hit

3)The tension & buildup sorta hit. At some times a bit forced but overall there was a tension brewing.

4)Don’t come for me but TOO much description on scenery and the goddamn boat

5)Fishline metaphor not needed

Considering this is a NOVELLA I feel like I had way to many thoughts/dislikes to give more than 2.5⭐️ ~ those stars are basically just bc of the first 2 smut scenes 🌶️

•ex bfs dad
•fathers rival

This was a good read! I’m not a huge fan of age gap tropes, but I’ll let this one slide since it’s the last book of the holinight novella series.

I didn’t care too much about the workplace scenes & didn’t understand why you’d just up and leave a restaurant just to catch a fish yourself on your yacht.

But I mean, the spice was incredible..

So that’s all I can really say. The spice made up for the slow burn.

All the tropes were right up my alley (ex-boyfriend’s dad, dad’s rival, daddy kink) and I liked it… but I wanted MORE of something. More relationship tension, perhaps? The steam was steaming though — A+ for that.

mini blurb — ✍🏻
From the moment Renee met Marcus they felt instant attraction for each other, but there was too much baggage for them to act on it, up until one night when they both say "fuck it".

//

This is really the end of an era, I loved this cute little short stories, each of the unique and captivating.

This was bittersweet, since is was the last and idk I pictured the story to be a little more enemies to lovers or the rivalry with the father more conflicting, and ngl the whole info dump of her ex was a little non sense?? what happened? how was he? is she did not like him was being with him for a year?? not a month(s) A YEAR? A bit unnecessary for me if I might say so, so this was a let down.

That said, GOOD LORD the spice was spicing

“Stay with me.” The words come out before I can stop them.
“Here on the boat?”
I shake my head. “No, we can go to my home. Or yours. Or anywhere down this lake.”
As long as I’m with you , I don’t care where we end up.
Renee smiles, a gorgeous dusty pink blush coloring her cheeks. “Okay. I’d like that.”

5 stars!

Holy moly what a ride 😉 Daddy Marcus is a winner! The praise kink will have you melting who knew learning to fish on a yacht owned by your ex’s hot dad would leave you the reader wanting to go fishing just to see what hot man wants to rail you lol!

As this being the final book in the Holinight Novellas it was not short from being perfection once again!

These novellas are short & sweet more naughty than nice and just a good old fun time!

I’ve enjoyed every single novella and I’m sad to see this saga be put to rest but I’m excited to see what author Lee Jacquot releases next! Thank you for a fun time!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 🌶🌶🌶/5

TW - parental abandonment (scs, mentioned)

CW - cockwarming, toys, edging, daddy, DP with a toy

Tropes - father's rival, age gap, novella, ex boyfriend's dad, workplace - literary agents, forced proximity, obsessed

This was fun and faced paced and I really enjoyed it, especially the lack of drama. This is a quick read and I’d recommend it along with the rest of the novellas in this series.

A Father's Bliss follows Renee (FMC) who lands a job with her father and his rival. She crushes hard on Marcus (MMC) despite her father and having dated Marcus' son. Some forced proximity in the form of a work placement pushes them both in the right direction.

Sad to see the end of these novellas that I’ve loved so much but I’m excited to see where Lee J takes us next.

⭐️⭐️ - shit, but whatever

It’s kind of bittersweet to receive this novella: on the same page it’s one of my favorite series,
but I was a little sad ‘cause it is the last one of this series. The story is about Marcus and
Renne and how, after 4 years working together, they finally succumb to their feelings. This
book is hot and, like the others, is a good smut read. I can say that this series is forever
ingrained in me.

I don’t believe anyone who says they don’t have a praise smink because how can you read this book and not have a reaction 🥵😮‍💨

Daddy Debois, sorry Marcus Debois, is obsessed with and loves to praise his girl and I am HERE FOR IT. We know we love an obsessed man around here and Marcus delivered. Renee’s one lucky girl 😂

I am genuinely so sad that this is the last Holinight novella. This series has such a special place in my heart and I will be rereading it for forever and ever. I honestly may reread them all next month because I refuse to accept the fact that it’s over 😭😭

That being said this was a solid way to end the series. Going out with a banger (not that anyone is surprised). Renee and Marcus were hot and fun and honestly I feel like I could be Renee. My girls out here reading dark romance about fishing poles and that’s just the kind of messed up stuff I need in my life (is this a legit book because what is it I need to know). I love both of them and would read a whole 600 pages of just him praising her.

Did I mention he’s her father’s rival? And her asshole ex’s dad?? Because he is and yes it’s as hot as it sounds.

*:・゚my thoughts┊ i’m not even going to lie; i imagined pedro pascal as marcus the entire time.

it was so worth it.

i seriously need to look into more age gap/daddy-ish books because i eat them up every time (yes, i have daddy issues. yes, i’m in therapy for it). this was so well done and easily my favorite from this holinight series!

i’m so sad that this series is over, as i’ve looked forward to the new installments ever since i picked the first three up last year or so. they are such fun, quick, and hot reads. i literally can’t help but love them all. i know the author is coming out with another novella series in the fall, which i am absolutely stoked for, and i definitely want to pick up some of her full length novels!

this was such a good read!

Let 👏🏼 Me 👏🏼 Tell 👏🏼 You

Marcus truly is DADDY 😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨

We stan a man who knows how to command his way around the bedroom or in this case I should say yacht.

“Look at me, babygirl. I want to see what that pretty face looks like when you come for me.”

This is just a taste of how commanding he can be, and the praise he gives 🤌🏼💋

The daddy kink is real and I was living for it.
I loved seeing Renee and Marcus’ give and take. The fact that Marcus is her dad’s rival at work and her ex’s dad had me squealing.

“Cocky So was your son, but he never even got me off.”
-“I, am not my son. Your safe word is Red, baby girl. Don’t fucking forget it.”

Lee sure went out with a bang for her last book, I am so sad it’s over but what a ride she took us on 🫶🏼

"A Father's Bliss" is like a sparkling gem in the treasure trove of the Holinights series, shining bright as the lith and Tinal chapter. Dive into the whirlwind of Renee, a social media scout working alongside her dad in a indie publishing house. When she steps into the shoes of Marcus' assistant (who happens to be her former flame's father), things get fishy during a fishing escapade, as hidden emotions bob to the surface. Lee's heartwarming Father's Day novella dedicated to Daddy Marcus is a must-read! Grab a cold drink, settle in, and prepare for a hot, one handed read!

I am so sad this series is now complete. Lee just does a smutty novella so well and this one is now my 2nd favorite ever. A sexy ex boyfriend’s dad 🥵 yes freaking please!

That fishing scene will live rent free for the rest of my days 🎣🥵🫠

Favorite moments:

“If someone would have told me Renee Porter would be the death of me, I would have believed it without a shadow of a doubt.”

“Eyes on me so you don’t forget who’s in between your legs. Which Debois will be tasting your cum.”

“This ass of yours is perfection, baby girl. And seeing it stuffed with my cock…fuck.”

It’s simple; I see ex’s dad, and I’m immediately sold, and it’s even better too, when I have a great time! 😂 what can I say; I just love the ex’s dad trope!

Lmao, the spice though, daddy Marcus has me staring at the wall, and questioning what I have just read, my goodness. It’s a smutty novella, and Marcus was set out on proving that he was the better Debois man; which he was, I had a blast!

This last novella ended the Holinight series with a beautiful bang! In all senses of the word if you get my drift *winky face*. It was short, sweet and oh so spicy! I wouldn't mind a Daddy Marcus of my own!! If you are looking for a short spicy read, I definitely recommend this book, and this whole series to be honest!

End of a great novella series

When I saw the age gap, dad's workplace enemy ex bf daddy, I was like yes Lee yes! Marcus has waited awhile for Renee, and she dated his son to try to quench her craving for his daddy. This, of course, was hot, and I loved Daddy Debois! Somehow, she always wraps up her novellas in a perfect time and pacing. Also, Troy's is my spirit animal!
