Eagle Peak
Eagle Peak, population 596, has two bars, five churches, and a vibe (or lack thereof) that couldn’t be more different than Sean's native Minneapolis. Moving to rural small town Minnesota, Sean must leave his life of acting classes, going to all-ages shows, and hanging out with friends, to enter into a world of pep rallies, pick-up trucks and country pop.
Sean’s inclination for heavy eyeliner, black attire, and surly attitude make him an easy target of suspicion, intrigue, and prejudice in the small town of Eagle Peak. But despite Sean’s growing sense of dread and depression, small town Minnesota also offers a lot of he becomes the love interest of three classmates of which one is a closeted gay boy afraid of his own sexuality, he is surprised to discover and chant with a Buddhist family in town, and he gets in the middle of an abusive father and his town jock son. Sean’s old life of theater, live music, and diverse friends collides with his new life in Eagle Peak, and Sean is left confused about what he thought he knew about small towns, the world he left behind, and himself.

She reacted to the unease of young adulthood by living life to the fullest, which is a “Minnesota nice” way of saying she frequently got herself and others into trouble. When she wasn’t being a delinquent, she was probably making up stories, which, of course, led to more trouble. Elizabeth became a respectable adult, with a couple of college degrees, a teaching career, and a family. Fortunately, she still gets into trouble and loves to write about young adults, who are also living life to the fullest.

Imagine being uprooted from your friends and everything you know for a small rural town where your city ways open you to scorn and ridicule and you get a taste of how Sean felt. Sean first impression of Eagle Peak left him wondering what he was doing in a farm community, but when he learned that his entire school was the size of one of classes in the city he couldn't believe it. The school may be small, but the same problems you find at any school are the same. Sean has to wade through issues with jocks, bullies, bigotry, and confrontations between kids and their parents. The differences begin to blur as Sean starts to make his way in his new world as it challenges him to open his life to new experiences.

Wow, what an amazing book! I read it in a single session, which I usually never do, but after I had started it I simply couldn't put it down anymore. I'm not good at writing reviews, especially if I have nothing to critizise, and there is really not a single tiny thing I could complain about in this book. I'm only writing this, because there isn't a single review for this book on Goodreads yet, which I cannot understand, cause this is a must read and deserves dozens of 5 star ratings and reviews!!! Hope to read more from this author in the future!

Not worth your time
This book was written up as being about gay guys coming out in a small town in Minnesota. It was hardly abound gays at all. Don't waste your time or money.
