Heartthrobs and Hauntings: A Sweet Paranormal Romance Comedy

Will she lose her heart or her life first?

Seeing her gaunt and pallid reflection in a mirror, hanging with a noose around her neck, gave Jessica Grayson the heebie-jeebies. Was it her fault she and her friend suspiciously got stranded in the creepy Wrenthal Castle? No. The three troublesome ghosts needed to take a chill pill and stop messing with her head so she could flirt with the castle’s hot owner, Dan Gladwin, before the tow truck arrived to rescue them. She had places to see and long-lost aunts to find, but a little harmless romancing didn’t hurt anything while she waited. Right?

Wrong.

Jealousy from the grave pushes things a little too far over the line, bordering on murder. So not cool. When she discovers the secrets of Wrenthal Castle and its imprisoned ghosts, she refuses to turn tail and run, even with her life on the line. With Danny Boy’s tantalizing kisses to rally her spirits—no pun intended—they could best a few ghouls and solve some unresolved deaths of centuries past.

No big deal.

Until it is.

“I’d fall apart if I ever had to live without her.”

📚•When Jessica Grayson travels to England to catch up with her friend, seek out a long-lost relative on behalf of her grandma’s request, and go exploring. But, with car issues, she soon finds her self at Wrenthal Castle. There’s a sense that something is amiss once inside. When Jessica discovers secrets of Wrenthal Castle and its imprisoned ghosts, she gets rather excited and refuses to turn tail and run, even with her life on the very line! With Daniel Gladwin, the owner of this castle, and his tantalizing kisses to rally her spirits-no pun intended-they could best a few ghouls and solve some unresolved deaths of centuries past. No big deal it seems. Until it really is…

@authorchristinemwalter your unique and original paranormal murder mystery closed door rom-com definitely captured my full attention from start to finish. I enjoyed the dual point of views, the humor, the right amount of tension, and the swoony moments intertwined throughout this story. I enjoyed the connection between the endearing main characters and the slow burn attraction as the story progressed, the unfolding mysteries, and a wonderful satisfying ending! You handled the content in a respectful way as well. This is an interesting and enjoyable story to read! ☺️

Heartthrobs and Hauntings is a great ghostly rom/com. It will have you laughing throughout the whole book. It is a story about Jessica, whose grandmother passes away and leaves Jessica a letter with her final wish. She wants Jessica to go to England and try to find a long-lost relative.
So Jessica, who has a best friend (Crystal) that lives in England, hopes on a plane and goes.
When she gets to England, her and crystal end up stranded at a haunted castle because their car breaks down. Jessica is excited at the possibility of seeing a ghost, but Crystal wants nothing to do with ghosts.
Then Dan, the owner of the castle, comes into the picture, and things start to get interesting.
There are some good little twists and turns in this book, and the ending was good. I definitely did not see that ending coming. Will I recommend this book to my friends and family? Most definitely.

«Heartthrobs & Hauntings» is a spooky rom-com to a T! 👌🏻 With this one, Christine delivered a genuinely eerie story laced with a touch of romance. Instead of overshadowing the supernatural aspect, it adds just enough tension to create the perfect balance.

The protagonists, Jessica & Dan, are charming & I don’t mean to take away their shine, but the true stars running the show here are definitely the ghosts — Beauty, Widow & Baby. Thanks to Christine’s knack for detail, the different backgrounds from this quirky, hilarious trio made the flashbacks vividly real & heartbreakingly human 🙌🏻💔

The chemistry between Jessica & Dan was kept simmering in the background after initially meeting each other, leaving more than enough room for the numerous mysteries to unfold. The pacing is spot-on, revealing the castle’s haunted history & the backgrounds of the ghosts little by little. One thing that took me by surprise though was the fantastic plot twist revealing the true culprit behind the castle’s murders - an unexpected turn of events & brilliantly executed at that 🤯👏🏻.

Overall, this is an amazing Halloween read — full of cozy vibes in a spooky-romantic setting with a happy ending. This is my third time reading Christine’s work & she never disappoints! Perfect for a fall evening, this book is a true treat for spooky rom-com fans! 🎃🍂✨🕯️

This book is the cutest little rom-com treat. A total must-read for October! 🎃

It’s got a little bit of everything: swoons, laughs, & ghostly chaos. Plus every time he used a pet name, I got actual butterflies. Like, sir, calm down, my heart can only handle so much!

My only complaint is that I’m not the FMC, which honestly feels like a personal attack.

This spooky ghost filled romantic comedy had so many eerie and wonderful moments that had me on the edge of my seat!

Jessica sets off to visit her best friend Crystal in England, while spending time fulfilling her grandmother’s dying wish that Jessica find her long lost aunt. While on their adventure to find Jessica’s relative, the ladies find themselves stranded on the way to Wrenthal Castle, which happens to be owned by the handsome man, Dan Galdwin, and inhabited by three lovely yet mysterious ghosts, who are determined to make these unwanted guests leave. Ghostly encounters quickly escalate from foolish pranks to something more deadly and sinister. Jessica knows that the only way to end the bad hauntings is to learn more about the ghosts inhabiting the castle, and to somehow set them free. Can Jessica free the ghosts souls while also trying not to lose her own life? Especially now that she’s falling head over heels for the castle’s attractive owner….

I don’t dive into ghost stories too often but this one was so much fun, and has the right amount of humor, hauntings, and heartthrobs! I enjoyed getting to know the ghosts, and the stories of their past lives, while also seeing Jessica and Dan navigate their growing feelings for each other. There was so many moments of delicious food, banter, laughter, sadness, and a depth to the story that pulled so deeply on my heartstrings.

I highly recommend this spooky romantic comedy!

🪞Heartthrobs and Hauntings👻

🇬🇧A Very lovely book. It has suspense, a touch of romance and mystery.

I thought this was a very nice book. I was into it and flew through it. Because of the mystery of the stories you really want to read on. It also became exciting, which made me sit on the edge of my seat. In the book you read the main story about Jessica, but she also discovers about the ghosts of the castle, so you also read certain chapters from their point of view. I thought that was a nice and pleasant addition to the story.

It is written smoothly and nicely. I have read books by this author before, but this is the best one so far! It is nicely constructed and has a nice structure. The characters are very nice, they are wonderfully caring towards each other.

🇳🇱Heel leuk boek.

🪞Seeing her gaunt and pallid reflection in a mirror, hanging with a noose around her neck, gave Jessica Grayson the heebie-jeebies. Before I begin, I would like to thank Christine M. Walter for allowing me to read her upcoming book, Heartthrobs and Hauntings, which will be available via Amazon on June 11, 2024.

Jessica Grayson went to England to explore and find a long-lost aunt, not to be stranded with her best friend at Wrenthal Castle. With three ghosts and troubling visions, Jessica would love nothing more than to flirt with the castle’s owner Dan Gladwin. The more secrets that Jessica uncovers about the castle’s history and the ghosts trapped there, the more determined she is to find the truth and resolve what’s going on even if it means at the expense of her own life. Can Jessica figure out what’s causing the troubles at the castle?

This book was lovely. You have Jessica, a teacher that loves watching scary stuff and exploring. You have Dan, a sweet young man that is very protective of his people and community. It was interesting learning about the castle’s history, in particular the ghosts’, and I thought the sensitive topics and/or scenes were handled with compassion by the author via the main characters. I’m totally on Crystal’s side for staying at a haunted castle, but I loved watching the two main characters unravel the mystery of what happened on the property. Overall, if you like humor, mystery, sweet romance, and wonderful characters, then I would highly recommend this book. I’m not normally a ghost story gal, but a rom-com ghost story is a whole other ball game.
Jessica is a goof ball, and I appreciate a FMC that is quirky and unapologetically different.
One thing I love about Christine Walter’s books is her representation of “differences”
The MMC in this book is not only swoon worthy, but he has a stutter.

Jessica and her best friend are stranded near a castle that is known to be haunted. Jessica is thrilled about encountering a real ghost! She makes it her mission to help the resident ghosts find closure.
Her and Dan work together researching the stories of the women who’s spirits are stranded within the castle, all the while growing closer with each passing hour!

I’m normally a wimp, but the humor and light hearted banter lightened the potentially heavier subjects making this an overall fun read!

ARC Review⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

How can you go wrong with a rom-com ghost story…well, you can’t! From the cast of female ghosts to the haunted castle and the creepy grounds keeper and don’t forget the hot British owner of the castle. These are all the things our FMC Jessica comes across when her car breaks down nearby the castle grounds. The main characters have great chemistry and work together to try and solve the castles secrets. I don’t like spoilers, so I won’t say anymore.

This book has the following and more:

🕵‍♀️ Cozy mystery
👻 Spooky ghosts
❤️‍🔥 Slow burn
🏚️ Haunted house
💋 Kisses only
🤝 Forced proximity
🎭 Friendly ghosts

Quote: “She may not believe in ghosts now, but she’ll be singing a different tune very soon.”

Thank you to the author Christine M Walter for the electronic advanced copy of the book!

This was such a fun, spooky read!

Jessica’s grandmother has recently passed and her last request was that she find a long lost family member in England. While in England, she stumbles upon a haunted castle. In this spooky romance, Jessica is trying to figure out the mystery behind the ghosts haunting this castle while also falling in love with the owner.

I loved this story! It was just spooky enough to give me the chills, but not too spooky for those who are more sensitive to that. If you’ve seen the show Ghosts, it definitely gave off similar vibes. The rom com factor helped ease the tension! The romance was sweet! I loved how the main plot was figuring out the ghost mystery rather than just the romance, it helped the plot flow smoothly. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves a good spooky rom com!

Heartthrobs and Hauntings by Christine M. Walter

I seen this one on instagram and the cover drew my attention. Then I found out it was a closed-door romance. It’s rare to find a paranormal romance that is closed-door and I really wanted to read it. I’ve always loved stories with ghosts and mystery so this one was a perfect read for me. We have the rom com/romance. There are some fun and cute moments with Jessica and her friend. There are also some fun moments between Jessica’s and the MMC Dan. I love the destination of traveling to England and visiting a castle, only Jessica and her friend end up stranded at the castle and that’s when things take a turn. Jessica sees the resident ghosts and they don’t want her there. This is when the mystery begins: why do they want Jessica gone and why are these ghosts here in the first place. I loved how brave Jessica’s character was. She wasn’t about to turn tail and run even though that would have been the easy answer. I loved the connection between her and Dan. They were kind of instantly attracted to one another and fell for each other as the story progresses. Dan struggles with something in the book and I really loved the unique representation the book had. I really hope the author decides to write a bonus chapter. I'd love a glimpse into the couple's future. Can Jessica and Dan solve the mystery of the ghosts before it’s too late? This is a paranormal romcom murder mystery. The book is closed-door and dual point-of-view. Grab a copy of this one to solve the mystery.

This cozy paranormal romance is the perfect Halloween read! Paranormal Investigation + Romantic Comedy: Why don’t more stories this exist??

This book had the perfect balance of suspense and light-hearted comedy that is great for fans of paranormal stories as well as readers of cute romances. I liked the mystery surrounding the haunted castle and enjoyed the cute clean romance between the protagonists. Some may find the jokes from the MC a little campy, but I appreciate how this author incorporates protagonist women into her stories that have a sense of humor without having them cuss all the time—We need more genuinely funny women in literature!

This book was pretty unique. It had a great plot and really great characters.
I absolutely loved the lady ghosts. They were each fun to get to know.
I thought it was great that Dan wasn’t Mr. Perfect. He had a stutter and didn’t seem to be some macho man. Jessica was quirky- she was a bit of a clutz and she said lots of off the wall things. I liked that both characters didn’t hold back what they were thinking.
I guess the only thing I didn’t like was that they fell in love so quickly and some of their conversations were cheesy.

This was such a great book. I read this as a palette cleanser after a heavy fantasy series, at it was exactly what I needed. Jessica is an adventurous main character that solves the mystery of the deaths of 3 women from the past. Dan is a reclusive bachelor that is convinced no one will be able to get past his stuttering and really love him for who he is. The castle is a character in itself. And the ghosts of 3 women that haunt the castle are perfect. This is definitely one of my favorite reads so far this year.

Such a cute, clean mystery meets rom-com! I loved learning the ghosts' stories and watching the relationship between Danny & Jessica develop. I'm not usually big into ghost stories, but this one had the right amount of creepy that I really enjoyed it.

Ghostly Rom-Com

I'm not usually a fan of ghost stories, but this one was cute. A trip overseas to look for a family member ended up turning into a search for the history of the resident ghosts she encountered.

This book is a perfect halloween read garnished with a cute and sassy romance.

I adore Christine's writing style and I love how she was able to give every character such a great backstory and different attributes.

The fact that she was able to show character growth, budding romance and solve a centuries old mystery in a short book is commendable. Another thing I absolutely loved was that the MMC has a stutter and insecurities because of it, and the FMC is protective yet soft hearted, making the characters more realistic.

Recommended for people who want to read a spooky rom com (not horror) with good characters and great writing.
