An artist and teacher, Malcolm Patterson is probably best known for his views of St Andrews and his portraits of well-known local figures Born George Malcolm Patterson on 13 May 1873, he was the second son of Charles Patterson of Dundee. Educated at Clifton College in Bristol, he originally trained as an engineer but decided to follow his early ambition to be an artist. He studied in Paris and London and contributed illustrations to a number of leading periodicals including the satirical magazine, Punch.
