The thrill of the unexpected...Caley Lambert didn't expect that a few nights at the family cottage for her sister Emma's wedding would turn her life upside down. But that was before she got lost in the dark, was propositioned by a cop and ended up in the wrong bed with the brother of the groom.

When she and Jake Burton were teenagers, Jake had been the perfect boy next door--and the object of Caley's most daring fantasies. But that was back when she was a kid. Caley's definitely over him now. Or so she thinks...

Kate began reading romance in 1979 when she picked up a copy of Kathleen Woodiwiss's Ashes in the Wind. She read the book from cover to cover in one very long night and was immediately hooked on the genre.

The next morning, she was standing at the door to her local Waldenbooks and when they opened, she hurried inside and asked for everything else written by Woodiwiss. At the same time, she found wonderful books by Rosemary Rogers, Laurie McBain, and Jennifer Blake.

Nearly 10 years later, while working as an advertising copywriter, Kate decided to try writing a romance of her own. After a history of interesting jobs in teaching, retailing, advertising, and nonprofit work, she was determined to add romance author to that list.

After numerous failed attempts over three years, Kate decided to forget writing historical romance and turned to category romance. Six months later, her first story, A Vagabond Heart, was finished. A year later, Harlequin bought the book after Kate won the national 1992 Harlequin Temptation contest. The book was published in 1993 as Indecent Exposure.

Her dream of adding romance writer to her resume came true and in December of 1993 she turned off her alarm clock, shredded her pantyhose, and became a full-time writer.

Since then, Kate has written numerous books for Temptation, Weddings by DeWilde, Harlequin anthologies, Love and Laughter, and Duets. Her new Duet, Three Babies and a Bargain (July 2000) will be her 24th project for Harlequin and All Through the Night (August 2000), a Temptation Blaze, will mark her 25th.

Kate lives in southeastern Wisconsin in a cozy little house in a picturesque village. Two cats also live with her—Tansing, a grumpy Himalayan, and Tibriz, a tortie Persian mix that she rescued from an animal shelter. She enjoys gardening, golf, reading, and romantic movies.

This book could've been better. There wasn't enough sexual tension and the sex wasn't satisfying enough. Maybe that just makes me a pervert. Whatever. I did enjoy the characters, though. I might read this again.

Sweet but unexciting romance
3 stars

Caley Lambert doesn't realise that coming home for her sister's wedding will be so eventful. And to make matters worse, on her first night she accidentally finds herself in the bed of the best man, and her teenage crush, Jake Burton.

All Caley's teenage fantasies involved Jake but now the pair are grown up, Caley's fantasies are so much hotter and this time they might just become reality.

I usually enjoy books in the Wrong Bed mini-series and while this one was readable, it really didn't have any special sparkle. Jake and Caley were both interesting and likeable characters but the emotions didn't run deeply enough for me and while we were told how they felt, it wasn't easy to believe in it.

As you would expect with a Blaze story, there were plenty of sex scenes but again, without the emotion, they felt a little flat and unexciting. The plot moved along nicely but nothing exciting ever really happened and in truth, it was a little predictable at times.

I would still give the book 3 stars as it's a readable and sweet romance but not one that I would read again.

This is second book in this category of Harlequinn romances I've read and they're pretty interchangeable despite being by different authors. While it's formulaic, the book goes down easy which I suppose, is what one expects from this genre.

El final estuvo un poco apresurado, pero en general muy entretenida la historia.

Not a fan of the fact that he started full on groping her while she is still asleep and they don't have much chemistry other than going back into the past constantly. Eh it was a read.

A very sweet and engaging story. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and didn't want it to end, or to put it down

2.5 might be more accurate

Let's see...there was that trope I really dislike - the young h offering herself to her teenage crush/bf/bff, who rejects her for reasons, followed by her avoiding him for years, then when they get back together, it's as if nothing really happened except that they're grownups now so they can have sex.

First off, considering how these heroes always seem to keep anyone else from scoring on the h, I have a hard time believing they'd actually let her take off to parts unknown and dispense with that pesky hymen to the first one who didn't say no.

And then there seems to always be the lack of any real...ill feelings. This one did have the sudden thought that maybe his rejection of her long ago was why she wasn't willing to stick her neck out for a "real" relationship when he wanted to get serious.

Of course, this one had the added bonus that her sister and his brother were getting married and the two of them just had to stir up trouble in an attempt to break them up - to keep them from making a horrible mistake - only to decide later that *they'd* made a terrible mistake and have to get the two back together. Oddly enough, they conveniently forgot that it was their doing that had the two fighting in the first place.

All in all, by the time it was over - and she'd conveniently given up her career to go to him - I really didn't care. I'd have respected her more if she'd given him frostbite instead of hot sex until they had a heart to heart talk about the past, as opposed to the hot sex over and over with the thought of it just being friends with benefits. Sorry man - a real friend wouldn't humiliate their best friend like that; they'd have made an effort to talk to the friend about expectations and futures.

When she was 18, Caley propositioned the boy of her dreams and long time friend, Jake, and he rejected her. Eleven years later, they see each other again for the first time at her sister's and his brother's wedding and the sparks are still there. Now, there's no reason to deny themselves a brief affair while they work together to plot the destruction and then reconciliation of their siblings' relationship. But ending it after one week is going to be difficult when they're falling in love with each other.

Not a lot of tension in this, with Caley and Jake realizing right away they're attracted and willing and Caley forgiving him for his rejection pretty much right off the bat. They were interesting together and felt like they had a great deal of chemistry. I liked them as friends more than anything. Their sex scenes were a little bland, but their relationship was great. I just couldn't get past Caley's idiocy there towards the end nor could I sympathize with her pain when she's the moron who walked away from the man she loved. And for what? A job? People depending on her at work? Also, she walked away way too easily. I know it was supposed to provide that angsty tension of separation, but it actually undermined their relationship that she could go three months without talking to him or caving on her need to be with him (and that he could do the same) when there was no barrier to their being together other than physical location. Though I have to respect Jake and his faith in her when he made the decision to let her go, knowing that she'd be back.

I'm also not sure why they mention the cop in the blurb, because he doesn't play any major role in the story. He doesn't even really hit on her...he asks her to dinner, she says no, end of story.

Enjoyable, but predictable. Nothing wrong with that.

Strange to say, but I enjoyed the part where they work to break-up Emma and Sam and then lock them together in a cabin to work out the issues caused by Caley and Jake.

An easy and enjoyable read. Once again, showing how important communication is in a relationship.

The story delves into relationships that are complicated, long distance, and how time, be it 3 months or 11 years, doesn't necessarily make a difference. A very good read.... i gave this a 5 star.
