Julia Sutton's BRING BACK TIME is a thrilling time travel romance set in a medieval, magical world, where friendship and love are tested to the limit.
Hello all, I was born and still live in Wolverhampton, England. I've had a variety of jobs since the age of 15 working as a strawberry picker, a secretary, a shop assistant and more recently as a teaching assistant and dinner lady.
I retired in 2019 to focus on my writing and to pursue my dream of becoming a successful author. I'm a multi-genre author and love writing for both adults and children.

Soooooo, if someone had told me I would be reading a ‘time slip’ medieval fantasy romance, I woukd have said ‘I read most things but that’s not for me’
Anyway I did and I have and whilst it’s prob not going to be my go to genre I did get into it, so much so (except for a 2 crumpets and builders tea break) read it it one go
I loved Amber and that she was a bookworm and lived in Brum and liked the ‘getting to know’ her and her bosses and colleagues and them going away to The Lakes, loved the part in ‘The Vipers Nest’ pub and then later after the ‘time slip’found myself fascinated by the land of Magus she finds herself in with castles and nasty Kings, attacking snakes and magic wielding old ladies and of course Alexander who sounded fit 😊
Amber gets herself in some real scrapes and do’s and wonders if she will ever get back to Birmingham and normality again, she may also be falling in love…..
I can’t tell you how different this was as a read for me and how I have learnt a lesson about my biggest hobby ( well bar Eurovison ) never presume and try different
A work holiday to the Peak District turns into a bigger escape than anticipated when they travel to a strange town, and Amber, her friend Jenna and Jenna's questionable lover Derek stumble across an enchanted lake. Before they know it they are sucked into another realm and into the very real dangers of this medieval Kingdom. With the help of a Knight and a wisewoman they embark on a rescue mission and have to confront the land's evil King and his corrupt supporters. In order to survive they are forced to venture on a dangerous relic hunt that sees them facing monsters of the land and sea. There are unexpected reunions and bitter betrayals as they fight for their loved ones, freedom and to find a way home. I am a huge fan of medieval worlds, Castles, mythical creatures and adventures, and I love seeing how the characters adapt and rise to the challenge. I liked the growing romance between Amber and Alexander, Jenna's sassyness, and Derek's humorous moments.
🗡️ "I've seen people from your lands before. But I've never met a female so irate and full of misery as you are"
🗡️ "He's full of hot air, but it's not very often that a woman riles him as you have"
🗡️ "Magus is a wondrous place, but this isn't a nice, cute book you're reading Amber. This is grim reality and you could die as quickly as you're breathing, so be aware and on your guard"
🗡️"I can manage to get off a horse myself. I'm not some frail damsel in distress, I'm much stronger than you think. Not every woman needs to be saved"
🗡️"Every day I spend with her makes me certain that she is my destiny"
This book is reminiscence of the Scottish time travelling series “Outlander” mixed with a good dose of Fantasy. The main character, Amber, goes on a work excursion and finds herself thrown back in time with her friend, Jenna, and the boss’s son, Derek, whom she doesn’t like much at all.
They find themselves in a bloodthirsty land ruled by a tyrannical king whose solution to everything is killing. Amber must go on a quest if she wants to save someone’s life. The voyage is long and perilous with many monsters on land, sea and air whose aim is to stop them from succeeding.
When they reach their destination, there are even more surprises in store and not just for Amber, but also for Alexander the hunky, aloof warrior who she feels instantly drawn to, and the attraction is mutual. The romance between the two at times was sizzling.
What I liked about this book was that although it is the first in a series, there is an ending to the story. The reader isn’t left hanging and wondering what will happen next. The options for further books are endless, but there was a great end feel to this one.
I do love a time travel book. I find the entire concept, and the many ways it is portrayed to be utterly fascinating. Being Back Time is listed as being fantasy, but for the fantasy elements were minimal, and it reminded me more of the adventure stories I loved so much as a child.
The characters were well written and fleshy. I thought Amber was a bit "wet" at the beginning. I mean, we have a lot in common, I love books and don't enjoy going out drinking, but she was just so boring. But then she really grew, and by the end I loved her. I didn't take to Derek at all, but I suspect he wasn't meant to be likeable. I also found some of the names slightly jarring with the period in which it is set. But that could be my own lack of knowledge.
I thought some of the romance happened incredibly fast, especially Jenna/Derek/Glenn/Violet. But then again, I do know people in real life who "fall in love" that quickly!
Overall this was a solid start to a series, and I'm intrigued to see what happens next.
I am a massive fan of books that contain time travel and so I knew I would love this and I wasn't wrong.
The story follows Amber who along with her friend Jenna and Jenna boyfriend find a lake in the peak district, what could go wrong right, its just a picturesque lake - which also just happens to be enchanted. They travel back to a medieval kingdom where they have to fight an evil king and with the assistance of a wise woman and a knight go on an ancient relic hunt fight whoever and whatever crosses their path along the way.
The book was really well written with an enchanting storyline and well developed characters some of which I loved and some of which I really didn't - Boyfriend and king I am side eyeing you so hard right now. I have never read a time travel book that went to medieval times before this as it is not a favourite period of mine, however, I really enjoyed it and can't wait to see what the author does next. Greedily I would love more from Amber.
I’m diving straight in to say this is my favourite read so far this year. Bring Back Time by Julia Sutton is an epic Romantasy. It kind of reminded me of my all time fave film Clash of the Titans so it’s a hands down winner. It contains so much that appeals to my imagination- ghost ships, mermen, Sirens, Cyclops etc and all of this set within a medieval type world with knights and castles. I was totally invested in the characters as book loving Amber and her friends get sucked into a whirl pool transporting them to this dangerous new realm. I adored them all from the dashing knight Alexander to the annoying Derek who added a touch of humour. The whole thing is an abundance of everything- Romance, heartache, action and adventure. I had so much fun reading this. It’s one to really escape into. Now hurry up and finish the second book in the series Julia Sutton 😍🤩⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
As a big 'Outlander' fan, Julia Sutton’s 'Bring Back Time' did not disappoint. Following Amber Stone’s journey from a routine office life to a dangerous medieval quest will resonate with readers looking for romance and adventure beyond the everyday. The richly imagined world, complete with mythical creatures and a tyrannical king, certainly kept me turning the pages. Amber’s journey from a reserved bookworm to a courageous heroine, alongside her dynamic with the enigmatic knight Alexander, added layers of depth and emotion that I found captivating. Julia Sutton’s novel masterfully blends fantasy, romance, and adventure, making it a story that lingers in the mind long after the final page. Can’t wait for the next instalment!
Bring Back Time by Julia Sutton is the first book in the Searching Through Time Series. This story is an epic Romantasy. I was invested in the characters. This book is an exhilarating time travel romance that immerses it's readers in a richly crafted medieval world. The story was engaging. The plot had me turning the pages well into the night to get to the end. The story has a mixture of a bit of everything: romance, heartache, action and adventure. I had so much fun reading this. It’s one to really escape into. Overall, "Bring Back Time" is a beautifully crafted novel that will linger in your thoughts long after you’ve turned the last page.
Ooh, what an epic adventure ‘Bring Back Time’ was and it packed a punch with the romance. If you love romantasy, then look no further and follow Amber on her wild adventure down a magical whirlpool. This book is jam-packed full of peril and it’s definitely a book that will keep you up at night. The historical setting and elements of magic were so imaginative and fun.
I loved Amber’s character and Derek brought some fab humour to the story.
Wow! This book has everything you could want in an engaging story, and more. So much to read about - Doris, Delicious Dev, chocolate hobnobs, A lost book, great life lessons, Purple Peaks Activity Centre, another realm. a king, the Viper's Nest to name just a few of them. There is literally something for everyone in this book. I really hope that Julia writes more of these in the future. I read this book in just a few days as I didn't want to piut it down. Brilliant!
Bring Back Time by Julia Sutton. This was a good read. I did like the cover. This was a different read as it's medieval and time travel. I found it different and unique. I'm not normally into this genre. I liked the story and the writing style. I did like Amber and Alexander. How they were with each other. I also liked Jenna and Derek. I read this in two sittings. Once I got into it, I did enjoy this book. I was surprised with the ending
A wondrous fantasy adventure. Mermen, witches, sirens, cyclops, wicked kings, handsome knights and more. What extraordinary company for a trio on an office team building weekend! This tale has it all. The challenge of exploration in very foreign lands, titillation, devoted love, battles and bravery. A truly funtastic escapist read.
Amazing! As someone who is not usually into fantasy this book was brilliant! It was thrilling and I found myself routing for all the characters throughout. I also loved the romance aspect of it! Overall a fantastic read and would recommend to everyone!!
This is the first book in the Searching Through Time series and was quite different to the last book that I read by this author. Early last year, I read Love in the Spotlight, which was a lovely little romance story - but this was much more fantasy / historical based which I really enjoyed.
This was a brilliant mish mash of concepts and I'm sure had something for everyone.
Our main character Amber headed off on a work retreat to the Peak District but upon arriving is sucked into an enchanted whirlpool which whisks her and her colleague back in time to the medieval era. Here she's sent on a quest to bring the King a talisman that will allow him to time travel.
This was an epic adventure and we see mythical beings mixed up with knights and castles - and as strange as this sounds, I actually thought it worked really well! Of course we have the added element of the romance with a dashing knight and our "court jester" Derek adds some welcome humour to the whole event.
The writing style was super easy to read and I was sucked right in for the duration. I loved the time slip element and the medieval setting was so well drawn so felt believable and realistic - this really gave me Merlin vibes in parts.
A great quick read and I'm looking forward to more from this series - and this author in general.
