The Birds of Prey’s personal failings threaten to turn an advantage into a disadvantage as their search for Barbara continues to be more “fight for their lives” than “search for Oracle.” Oh, and there are dinosaurs.
KELLY THOMPSON has a degree in Sequential Art from The Savannah College of Art & Design. Her love of comics and superheroes have compelled her since she first discovered them as a teenager. Currently living in Portland, Oregon with her boyfriend and the two brilliant cats that run their lives, you can find Kelly all over the Internet where she is generally well liked, except where she's detested.
Kelly has published two novels - THE GIRL WHO WOULD BE KING (2012) and STORYKILLER (2014) and the graphic novel HEART IN A BOX from Dark Horse Comics (2015). She's currently writing ROGUE & GAMBIT, HAWKEYE, and PHASMA for Marvel Comics and GHOSTBUSTERS for IDW. Other major credits include: A-Force, Captain Marvel & The Carol Corps, Jem and The Holograms, Misfits, Power Rangers Pink, and the creator-owned mini-series Mega Princess.
Kelly's ambitions are eclipsed only by her desire to exist entirely in pajamas. Fortunately pajamas and writers go hand in hand (most of the time). Please buy all her stuff so that she can buy (and wear) more pajamas.
Really enjoying how this storyline progressing and just like Barbara it seems the main group is finally learning the tricks of this world to bend them to their advantage. Last we left off we were once again escaping Maia and now following Sin through the next portal…only to find a dinosaur world. Sin…really?! All plans of calming down and standing our ground are thrown out the window in exchange for fighting off Dino’s and running to a cave at higher ground for safety. NOW, we can talk and work out a plan. Even though the Dino situation is quite stressful, it doesn’t lend a bit of a hand to Barbara as the tool she was using to break free just got updated to a giant hammer and her bars turned to rock. The unfortunate thing is that she also found out that her cell is really high up and she can’t just walk out. Giving a quick check in on the people outside, Meridian has now pulled in Zealot and Constantine to try and figure this out…and we have gotten no where. But upon contemplation and realizing that Cass is inside, Constantine has a revelation about what they can do and heads off to get something.
In all of this action the person feeling the most downtrodden about this is Mari, she has been cut off from her powers and has to rely on the others to protect her. Dinah is a fantastic leader in this and is able to reassure her, but Mari still decides to climb up a bit further on her own to think through things. As the others talk about how they will kill Maia, Dinah takes sin off to the side to talk about the world they are in…what’s up with the Dinos!? As it turns out, Sin was so worried about the conflicting personalities in her head and the other taking over, that she thought really hard about anything other than Greek mythology crap…and she happened to be reading a book on paleontology. Although it ended them up in this world, that’s actually really good news because that means they can control the type of world based on thoughts when they go through the portal! As Mari sits above them in contemplation and meditation suddenly she is able to find her way back to a connection with the red, and she is even able to form a connection with Clea’s shadow pet thing Poe. And using that connection she is able to find the next portal opening right next to her above the other birds, they are going to have to climb up there and jump for it but they now have the information they need to start turning this in their favor. Unfortunately in the time it has taken them to figure this out, Maia has caught up to them in the form of a snake woman and is ready to kill them all. Dinah can’t properly attack her without taking down the entire structure around them, and they are now stuck in a bit of a stalemate…that is until Vixen swoops down channeling the power of a pterodactyl ready to rip Maia apart!! HECK YEAH!!

This had a great cover. Designated cover A, the Birds versus the dinosaurs was pretty much the story under the cover.
There were actually three artists credited for the interiors, but series colorist Bellaire managed to bring it all together with her color choices.
I wonder when Zealot gets back into the spotlight. To paraphrase the fierce Coda warrior, she's getting tired of sitting on her hands. She's also one of the bigger reasons why I dove into this series.
This issue had dinosaurs and a return to character focused development in addition to the plot and very great sisterhood development. I enjoyed this issue a lot and i’m excited for more development and understanding of what Is going on and why especially if that happens through and with the characters instead of just involving them as the last two issues have felt for me.
