With more than 100 step-by-step recipes shown in full-color photographic detail,  Kids' Fun and Healthy Cookbook will prove that healthy food can be fun! This cookbook is a lively collection of recipes for kids that encourages healthy eating and asks kids to consider what they eat and how it affects their bodies. Featuring everything from pizzas and burgers to tofu kebabs and seafood salads, each dish in Kids' Fun and Healthy Cookbook has been developed by an award-winning food writer to both nourish the body and tempt the taste buds. Step-by-step photographs help junior chefs through each recipe, and food fact sections highlight specific ingredients and detail what makes them nutritious.

The recipes in this book will take kids through their day from start to finish. Make nourishing breakfasts like breakfast tortillas, fruit smoothies, and banana pancakes; create light meals like turkey burgers and minestrone; move on to main courses like chicken drumsticks and pesto pasta; and top it all off with desserts like tropical yogurt ice, apple muffins, cherry pies, and sunflower seed rolls. A fact-filled introductory section introduces concepts like fruits and veggies, starches, proteins, and fats and sugars, while a handy glossary at the end clarifies all the terms and phrases kids need to know.

Get ready, get healthy, get cooking!

I bought this cookbook when my kids were starting to want to cook. The only "kid" cookbook I had around had been given to me and all the recipes were made with processed foods and food coloring- yuck! This cookbook fit my idea of the kinds of foods I wanted my kids to get excited about.

The pictures are colorful, and the pages are arranged in a very eye catching way. Some of the recipes are more complicated, but with parental help kids should be able cook a yummy, healthy snack or meal. I thought some of the recipes were kind of bland, but probably just perfect for kid taste buds (Adults just need to add more spices).

I love that there are nutrition facts in the book. This books helps show kids that healthy foods can be fun and delicious too, even if it doesn't come in fancy packaging.

What kid is going to eat these recipes? Let alone make them? They are easy and healthy, but seriously? I think the author has geared the audience to adults. Shrimp salad? Lamb kebabs? My son would never eat those foods! He wanted to learn how to cook and I reserved this book from the library without reading too much about it because I figured he would look through the pictures and tell me what he’d like to learn to make. He told me “nothing”!

So, later I look through the recipes. There are maybe 2-3 recipes I’d like him to learn to do. They were a granola bar (made from dried fruit), fruit sundae, tropical ice, and a peach popsicle. I was hoping for easy main dishes that he would like to make. This book is only 2 stars because I like the layout, the pictures, and how easy it is to read. Otherwise I’d give it 1 star.

I will not be buying this book!

This was such a fun cookbook! Pretty much every recipe has a picture to go with it and everything looks absolutely delicious. The layout and directions of the cookbook would make it easy to follow. Perfect for kids who want to help in the kitchen.

Overall I thought that this was an awesome cookbook for kids. I thought that this would be a fun book for kid's to learn about different types of foods and really overall just a great way for kids to get used to cooking and comfortable in the kitchen. There are great pictures associated with the recipes that are colorful and the cookbook includes a huge variety of foods for children to try. I thought that the recipes that were included were super fun and easy so that kids can feel successful and the recipes are actually doable unlike other cookbooks I have seen for kids. This could be a great book to use in class if the students chose 1 recipe a month they wanted to try as a class and working together they were able to create it! I would highly suggest this book for kids and learning how to cook!

This is a great little cookbook! I looked at it in class and now I want to buy it! It is full of fun, easy, healthy recipes that kids will enjoy cooking/creating. The layout and pictures are catchy and colorful. It makes healthy eating look appealing.
Another thing I really like about this cookbook is how it's full of cool little facts. For example one of them is, "Humans are the only species that eat cooked foods. All other species eat their food raw." Besides random facts like that it taught about different kinds of foods and what made them healthy (i.e. what vitamins they contain and how those vitamins benefit your body).
Kids will love reading the facts and cooking the recipes found in this book!

What a fun cookbook! I thought that this was a great idea for kids to get involved in the kitchen in a fun, and easy way! I think that this would be a fun book for children to practice with basic foods, as well as making more complicated foods. The pictures that were used were detailed and good quality so it made it desirable to make. The directions were easy to follow and I think that kids would be able to understand and follow the directions clearly. As a teacher I think that this could be a fun book to use in the classroom if you had access to a kitchen and as a class once a month you could make a fun recipe from the book. I would suggest this would as a good way to help kids get interested in cooking!

What a fantastic way to introduce the concept of cooking healthy for children, teens, and even adults too! I loved the way this cookbook was organized and that it had such wonderful tips for cooking lighter and healthier! It gave great substitutes for things we can do to make our meals healthier and reach the needed vitamins and minerals that our body needs. The receipts looked delicious, easy, healthy, and simple with the easy-to-follow steps and directions. These meals would be perfect for children to do with adults and encourage the entire family to eat healthier and eating together at mealtimes. I myself would love to try out some of the meals and share them with friends and families.

With large pictures and short, step-by-step instructions, this is a great cookbook for children. The book first introduces children to different kinds of foods, and then gives recipes broken into the following categories: breakfasts, light meals, main meals, desserts, and baking. At the end of the book is a helpful glossary filled with definitions for many cooking-related and food-related words children may not know. While there are many classic recipes, there are also recipes for interesting meals that are not as well known.

This is a book I'm probably going to have to look into buying for my children. For me it's really important for my children to learn how to cook and I feel like this is a great book to start. I love how it has step by step instructions that include pictures. Also most kids recipes are just cutesy but not really that appetizing but these actually looked delicious. This is probably not one that I would read in class but have it available to check out in the library so that kids could take it home and try out recipes or maybe even make one of them as a class.

I would love to have this book in my home. It is full of great nutritional facts that children need to learn so they know how different foods do different things for your body. The pictures are bright and it really makes you want to cook and make something healthy and delicious for yourself and others. I personally loved how the pictures all included children cooking and creating the food so that children can learn the importance of learning how to cook and how fun it truly can be.

Looking through this book I just kept thinking, "Dang these look good!" Considering this is a kid's book full of recipes I sat there flipping through it and just wanted to take this cookbook home! There are no obscure cooking instructions AND the instructions are accompanied with pictures! What better way to teach developing minds (or just mentally debilitated ones like myself) how to cook food without burning down the kitchen :D.

I really love the idea of making books that give children the opportunity to learn about nutritious and healthy foods! I love learning about health and different foods that are beneficial for the body and I think it's a great idea for children to start learning about these things earlier, rather than later. The book provides healthy, delicious, and easy meals and even displays pictures of each step of making them. It really is awesome and I would recommend this book!

This cook book I though was wonderful for children. It taught children what good foods are. Then it gives a variety of recipes that are healthy. It also pushes the children to make something great. They are nothing too simple but nothing to hard that they couldn't do. I love how it gave interesting fact about food and wasn't simply just recipes. I think is definitely one of the first options I would have children in learning to cook.

This is a great book for kids! The recipes in this book are not only easy to make, but they are healthy. What better way to teach children the science of cooking? It also teaches them the importance of healthy eating. This recipe book explains what unfamiliar foods are and it talks about different things you can do with them. Cooking is a valuable talent that children can learn early on. It also gives ideas for how they can eat healthy and make healthy food. I highly recommend this book.
