Heart Mountain #0.5

The Magic of Heart Mountain

Rate this book
A mountain with a legend.

A sunshine Cali girl excited to experience a white Christmas.

A grumpy RCMP officer who never sees her coming.

What’s worse than sliding into a parked car on a snowy winter day? How about when that car turns out to be a police vehicle belonging to the grumpy, yet undeniably attractive RCMP officer, Mike Cross?

This is what happens to California native Hollis Billings when she travels to a remote town in the Canadian Rockies, and it leads to a tumultuous encounter. To make matters worse, Hollis seems to cross paths with the brooding officer wherever she goes, and he never fails to wear a perpetual scowl just for her.

It isn’t until she learns he is a devoted guardian to his sweet and sassy nine-year-old sister that she starts to see a different side to Officer Grump.

When a twist of fate entwines their daily lives, Hollis quickly finds herself falling for the ruggedly handsome officer and his adorable sister, leading her to question whether her time in Passion Falls is meant to be temporary.

She also can’t help but wonder if there isn’t more to the tale surrounding Heart Mountain.

After all, some legends hold fragments of the truth.

***

This holiday romance was originally featured in the Lights, Snow, and Mistletoe anthology as Christmas Kisses & Mountain Wishes. It has been expanded into a longer length novella that serves as an introduction to the Heart Mountain Series.

K.C. Lynn is a small town girl living in Western Canada. She grew up in a family of four children—two sisters and a brother. Her mother was the lady who baked homemade goods for everyone on the street and her father was a respected man who worked in the RCMP. He’s since retired and now works for the criminal justice system. This being one of the things that inspires K.C. to write romantic suspense about the trials and triumphs of our heroes.

K.C. married her high school sweetheart and they started a big family of their own—two adorable girls and a set of handsome twin boys. They still reside in the same small town but K.C.’s heart has always longed for the south, where everyone says ‘y’all’ and eats biscuits and gravy for breakfast.

It was her love for romance books that gave K.C. the courage to sit down and write her own novel. It was then a beautiful world opened up and she found what she was meant to do…write.

When K.C.’s not spending time with her beautiful family she can be found in her writing cave, living in the fabulous minds of her characters and their stories.

"What sets this particular mountain apart from all the rest is the secret it holds. A legend that weaves a tale, stating at the stroke of midnight, under the light of a full moon, if you share a kiss on this mountain’s ledge, you will be bound to your one true love forever."
So, Christmas novellas in July? Yes, please. Based on a legend? I’m there. With a grumpy cop who takes care of his little sister and an out-of-towner who changes everything (for the better)? 100% yes.

"Even when she came flying out of her car, tripping over her goddamn shoelaces, and almost face-planted, I still thought she was the most beautiful woman I’d ever seen."
Hollis’s and Mike’s meet cute is… well… not that cute. Let’s say they literally bump into each other. She’s not happy about it, but, boy, is he pissed off—and he’s about to realize she doesn’t take it lying down.
But what are they supposed to do about this really annoying mutual attraction going on?

"He’s trying to make me uncomfortable, make me squirm in my seat, but buddy boy isn’t going to get it."
He works for the local police and she’s in Passion Falls to work at a Christmas store only until her cousin sells it, so maybe they can avoid each other. Except this is a small town, so that’s not gonna happen. Especially since Mike’s sister, Poppy, comes into the store Hollis is working at, and they hit it off right away.

"I think this grumpy act of yours is just that—an act. I think deep down, you’re one of the good ones."
It was genuinely fun to see them try to fight it. I loved the way she gave him hell and how he tried to stay away. I loved his blunt, honest ways and how grumpy he is with everyone except his little sister. Knowing why that was and feeling their love for each other was dreamy.

"Careful, Hollis. You’re playing with fire."
"I’m from California. I can handle the heat."

I loved the tension. Even if this was short (btw, I wanted more!), the will-they-won’t-they was so good, and I loved the way their friends not-so-subtly try to make it happen. When it does, you won’t be disappointed. As with most grumps (my favorite!), he’s a dirty talker, and I think I loved it as much as Hollis.

"Her slim body fits against mine like a missing piece, the impact of our connection dissolving my frustration in an instant. If I were to ever believe in magic, it would be this right here."
It was so good to watch them fall for each other bit by bit from that first time when he gave in and allowed her into his house, because of Poppy, of course. There’s nothing this guy wouldn’t do for his little sister, and I melted at that. And I loved the way Poppy knew what was going on, had him wrapped around her little finger, and gave her brother that final push he needed. It was heartwarming.

"I thought you didn’t believe in magic?"
"I didn’t. Until you."

Is there magic in Heart Mountain? My Christmas-loving, romantic heart wants to believe so. Was there magic in this novella? I’d say yes… definitely.

This was a cute read. I liked Hollis & Mike together and Poppy was adorable. But I felt like the story lacked depth. Still, it was a fast paced, quick read and I wasn't bored.

"Careful, Hollis," I rasp, the warning strained. "You're playing with fire."

"I'm from California," she throws back, her breathing labored. "I can handle the heat."

Well this was a super sweet novella. Easy to read. Grumpy RCMP officer. And sunshine out of towner. Tension from the start. Some banter. Spice. And a child who makes this holiday read even more magical. Gave me Hallmark vibes for sure. I think it would be great if it was longer with more depth. A little too sweet for my current mood, but may be perfect for you! Definitely want to read more from this author, and do some rereading too!

The Magic of Heart Mountain❤️

The Magic of Heart Mountain is the introduction to a new series by K.C. Lynn and I for one will say I’m super happy she’s back to writing as I absolutely love the concept of Passion Falls and the legend behind this magical place and mountain❣️

Hollis is helping out her cousin when she finds herself, a California native, in Passion Falls surrounded by one thing she’s not used to….snow😬 She accidentally hits a Mountie’s vehicle while he’s stopped dealing with another driver….whoops🙈 This incident is unfortunately the first in a string of meet cutes between Grumpy Mountie Mike and Hollis.

Loved it and I can’t wait for more of this small town😍

If K.C. Lynn writes it, I have to read it. This was such a sweet, magical, and swoony novella that had the perfect amount of steam to keep you warm during a Canadian snow storm. This is the beginning of a brand new series that I am beyond excited for.

What to expect:
-Small Town
-Sunshine FMC
-Grumpy Officer MMC
-Single Guardian
-Holiday Novella

Hollis and Mike have the most hilarious meet cute…what’s that you ask…she hits his parked police cruiser!!! Yep, you read that right…the California native was trying to drive in the snow and slid right into the hunky, all alpha man’s car. Is that enough to convince you to read it? LOL it was for me.

Mike and Hollis…these two…whew. The tension. The chemistry. The banter. The swoon people!!! They will have you feeling all feels and magic of heart mountain.

Mike is a guardian to Poppy, his 9 year old sister, and let me tell you, she is a hoot!! I absolutely adored her. She and Hollis had this instant friendship that warmed my heart.

Yes, it’s June, but trust me…this Christmas time novella is a must read. I cannot wait to get more of this friend group….found family is seriously one of my top favorite tropes, and I need more of these characters.

This book was the perfect introduction to Passion Falls. It was sweet, swoony novella. It was steamy and you can’t help but laugh at the banter.

Mike is stubborn and thinks he hides his feelings well, and I mean he did for Hollis…everyone else knew right away.

Hollis is sassy and keeps him on his toes. She also thinks she can hide her attraction she has to Mike…but she fails at hiding it

Add is Poppy, Mikes younger sister who he is a guardian of, who needs a babysitter because the one she had flaked out and Hollis volunteers and it is the perfect recipe for Mike and Hollis to let their tension explode.

From the moment they met at there meet cute (you have to read it to find out what that is) the tension was there and the story makes you fall in love.

I should say that if KC writes it…. I will read it. She could hand me a cook book with her name on it and I’d be like GIMME. This book has everything that you love from a KC book and I am counting down the days until I can read the next one.

This book is magical mixed with local legend. A new to town Christmas store owner, Hollis, meets a local officer, Mike, who’s the sole guardian of his hilarious, sweet, Christmas loving little sister.

The first part of the book Mike is annoyed by how much he likes her and his inner monologue is hilarious. 🤣😂

“Long chestnut hair tumbles past her shoulders in loose waves, gently framing a pair of light green eyes accentuated by thick, dark lashes. And in pouty pink lips that appear full and inviting, and it’s enough to render any man powerless, including myself. This, in turn, only serves to piss me off further.”

This book is festive and sweet and full of lots of delicious tension. You want a book full of warm and fuzzies you can read in a day? This book is for you! Absolutely loved it! ♥️

A cozy winter romance during the summer. This book warmed my Canadian heart. From the grouchy RCMP officer to the positive ray of sunshine from California, this novella made me swoon and laugh.

This small town is home to Heart Mountain, and with it comes a wonderful legend that is supposed to bind you to your true love. I love a good legend, and this one was perfect for this winter romance.

Like my favourite Hallmark movies, Hollis is in town of Passion Falls to take care of her cousins Christmas store until it sells.

Mountie Mike pops into the story immediately, and the two slide into enemy mode.

We meet Poppy, a bright and sassy kid who keeps her big brother Mike on his toes. The connection between the three characters was heartwarming.

This book had the perfect amount of grumpy and sunshine, with a dash of a true love legend.

I am so tired of grumpy heroes.
And I have questions about how these two kissed on mountain in the middle of winter. Like, surely the mountain would be inaccessible?
Anyway, it's a cute story about a woman how has come to this town in Canada to run the Christmas store for her cousin until he sells it.
The first day her car slides into the a local police officer's car and he is very, very grumpy and rude. I still kinda liked him, at least.
Then one day this woman walks into the h's store because her babysitter abandoned her for cheer practice.
Except this woman is a nine-year-old girl. I just... had no idea and this girl does not talk like a 9 year old.
So I had a couple of issues with the story. But it was cute.
and I did like the sister.
HEA all around!

Hallmark meets Spice!

This was a short and easy read, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Hollis, a California girl, has taken up her cousin's offer to run a Christmas store in a small mountain town in Alberta Canada. Unfortunately for her, her first day in the snowy mountains, she slides her car into a parked RCMP car.

Mike has been taking care of his kid sister for a few years, taking on a single "dad" trope. Never in a million years would he have expected to have a run in with someone like Hollis.

If you are a fan of hallmark Christmas movies, romance, and enjoy some spicy scenes, this will be a great book for you!

This is a super cute grumpy x sunshine Christmas novella. Christmas love and a legend where people who meet on the mountain are destined to be together - sign me up.

Hollis and Mike meet when she runs into the back of his cruiser when she arrives in town from California to a town nestled under Heart Mountain. This book had the perfect Christmas vibes but I will say it felt a bit rushed and not all of the characters were fully fleshed out. I have to assume this is because its a novella, but I'm not sure.

DNF at 65%. I’m not trying to be on a DNF spree, but there are only a few days left in the year, and I don’t feel like this one is worth finishing.

I enjoyed the story at first and liked that it was set in an area (perhaps) inspired by Banff, Alberta which I visited this summer, but the writing isn’t great… Then there were a few pretty cringey moments between the characters that are supposed to be hot but kind of gave me an ick. Not horrible (probably a 3⭐️ read if I’d finished it), but just not worth closing out the year with for me 🤷🏼‍♀️

❤~🌟~❤ 4.5 Officer Grumpy Pants Stars! ❤~🌟~❤

Christmas in July couldn’t have come at a better time in the sweet , spicy holiday Novella. THE MAGIC OF HEART MOUNTAIN, is a wonderful start to K.C. Lynn’s captivating new series.

It’s been a while since I’ve lost myself within the pages of one of Ms. Lynn’s stories, and this festive grumpy/sunshine Xmas tale was brimming with homespun charm, sizzling sparks and holiday whimsy that filled my heart with glee!

“Cross” is the perfect surname for our surly yet hopelessly noble alpha hero who made me swoon like a starry eyed schoolgirl even amid all the angry glowers and ahole attitude! Because deep down under all that bluster lies a big ol mushy marshmallow heart. A small town Mountie cop, Mike’s a hardworking man of honor and integrity, who would sacrifice everything for his baby sister and as it turns out his ferocious devotion also extends to the fiery, chestnut haired beauty who rams into his police cruiser and turns his world asunder.

While I wish this novella was a bit longer with a little more emotional depth and detail about the MC s pasts (especially Mike and Poppy’s family backstory which led him to gaining custody of his 9 year old little sis), I was still truly captivated by Officer Grumpy Pants, as well as our fetching heroine, Hollis Billings—a sunshiny Cali transplant whose in Passion Falls for a seemingly short stint to mind the local Christmas store until her cousin, Shane sells it. And the icing on this yummy Christmas confection is adorable little Poppy whose sharp wit and precocious spirit brightened even the coldest of nights!

Mike and Hollis may have gotten off to a rocky start but as it turns out the Legend of Heart Falls might have something special in store for this combustible duo when they lock lips at the mountain’s ledge at midnight, and as the folklore dictates, fall head over heels in love.

Will Mike’s secret dream of giving his beloved sister, who’s his whole world, the family she wishes for finally come true? My lips are zipped but who knows.. a Christmas miracle just might be on the horizon for this richly deserving trio! All I will divulge for sure is that THE MAGIC OF HEART MOUNTAIN is a wondrously uplifting holiday tale you won’t soon forget! And oh my..,the epilogue was a glittery bow on top of this already dazzling story!

Now I cannot wait to dive into Ellie and Gunnar’s childhood best friend saga, the next installment in the Magic of Heart Mountain series! It promises to give us all the feels, passion, small town drama, and heart palpitating romance we’ve come to expect from this resplendent author!

"All legends hold fragments of the truth somewhere within them."

And just like that she comes back with this sweet book.
Christmas in June, never did I expect to want to read a centered around this winter holiday in summer time but I was all for it, especially by this author.

Hollis & Mike are what grumpy/sunshine trope is for.
I'll be honest I wanted more at the end and just kept tapping for it to keep going but it didn't.
First we are going to talk about Poppy cause, such a cutie! The sass this little girl has in her little body had me rolling when it came to her interactions with those around her. I will remember Mountie Mike the most.
Hollis is in Passion Falls on a favor to her cousin who recently purchased a little Christmas store, loving Christmas herself she couldn't pass up this favor.
Mike is the guardian to his little sister and an RCMP officer who is the grump that encounters an out of towner who rear ends him in the snow, after a not so meet cute these two just seem to be around each other no matter where they turn in this small town.

The only problem with this book is it was TOO SHORT 😆 but that is a novella for ya!
Honestly I devour anything KC writes and this is definitely no different, I should pace myself but I can't.
The setting for this book I know is based off of the rockies which I am dying to see in person but I will just travel there in this series for now.
Starting this series with Hollis & Mike while also getting everyone else and kind of back stories was the perfect piece that made this flow so well. I definitely enjoyed this very quick read and cannot wait to go back to this world.
Small town romance filled with spice, fun, humor, a bit of eye sting (not cool Mike), tight knit friend group and of course that happily ever after.

Time will only tell what magic will come about for all those in this sweet little town. The unexpected is what makes it that much more impactful and lasting, including and especially love.

ARC received by the author in exchange for an honest review

I always liked K.C. Lynn because her stories are complex and knows how to deliver good Romance content. Generally, her heroes are tormented and have gone through some traumatic experiences or the heroines are hiding from something that hurt them deeply. But not all her stories keep the same pattern. Don't get me wrong, I like a bit of drama because it makes the story more intense and deep, but sometimes, you need your sweet love story.

The Magic of Heart Mountain was a very sweet but short story, about 2 different people who come together by chance and discover how good they are together. Hollis is traveling from California to help her cousin run a Christmas shop and while doing so, because of the bad weather, she bumps into the car of office Mike, who is very grumpy with her. Even if the conversation was not a sugar-coated one, we could feel the tension between these 2, in a good way. Hollis then ends up befriending Poppy, Mike's little sister and they will get to spend more time in each other's company.

What can I say about the book? I wanted more from Hollis and Mike because I feel like I just received a summary of their story - I know this is supposed to feel like an Intro, but the more I dived into the story, the more I liked the town and all the characters that came together in that community. I wanted to get to know the main characters better and feel them evolve together, but I think I will receive that in Book 1 - The Legend of Heart Mountain. But at first glance, you will love the story and the intensity of the romance K.C. is targeting here, all in a very heart-warming plot.

I have absolutely loved every book by KC Lynn. She just knows how to write a phenomenal romance that is sweet, that enraptures you with her characters, and that just has you believing in the love she creates with her characters. This story was no different and it captured the small town goodness that I’ve come to love from this author. This story was magical, it was sweet and endearing, and it was consuming from start to finish.

Simply put, I loved everything about this book, and I cannot wait to get more of this series in my life. The characters of this world, the feel of the small town, and the magic and legend of the mountain itself are truly spectacular. It makes for an incredible read from start to finish with everything this author gives you and you will just be swooning left and right. Trust me on that. I loved everything about Hollis and Mike and what they shared together. Those two definitely make each other work for it in the best way, but the reward of the two of them is so totally worth it!

The story is quick, but it doesn’t lack for feels or romance, and I just love to feel of it. I’m so excited to continue getting everything with the rest of these characters and being back in this world. This author has created a new series that I know I will love, and I just can’t wait for more! If you were looking for a story, that is well written, that is paced wonderfully, and that will completely steal your heart, then run yourself to the story and the series. You won’t be disappointed at all!

Mike & Hollis
Heart Mountain Book 0.5

*I was provided an eARC of this book by the author and their promotion team

Who doesn’t love a sweet little Christmas novella at the end of June??

Hollis Billings is in the small town of Passions Falls, nestled in the Rockies of Canada, running her cousin’s store. Originally from California, when the opportunity to spend some time in this small town came about, Hollis leapt at the chance for new scenery, especially since her favorite holiday, Christmas, is right around the corner!

However, her first day in town doesn’t go as planned when she accidentally “taps” a cop’s car driving through town during an expected snowfall. In comes Officer Mike Cross—later appropriately named “Officer Grumpy”. Hollis and Mike’s first encounter is anything but friendly, but in a small town, these two find they can’t avoid each other —especially since they now run in the same group of friends. Not to mention, Mike’s little sister Poppy has named herself Hollis’ new shadow. The more time these two spend together, the more they realize first impressions aren’t always accurate, and maybe they’re just what each other needs. 🥰

This was the perfect short, sweet, fun, and flirty novella to cool me down in this summer heat! The snippets of this fried group left me wanting more and I cannot wait to dive into their stories as this series progresses! 🖤

The legend of Heart Mountain: 𝘼𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙠𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙢𝙞𝙙𝙣𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩, 𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙡𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙖 𝙛𝙪𝙡𝙡 𝙢𝙤𝙤𝙣, 𝙞𝙛 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙨𝙝𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙖 𝙠𝙞𝙨𝙨 𝙤𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙢𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙞𝙣’𝙨 𝙡𝙚𝙙𝙜𝙚, 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙗𝙚 𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙚 𝙡𝙤𝙫𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧.

And so begins the story of Mike and Hollis, a chance meeting where she runs into his police cruiser during a snowstorm. She’s in the small Canadian town of Passion Falls to temporarily run her cousin’s year-round Christmas store. She LOVES Christmas. Mike definitely does not, but he does what he needs to for his nine year old sister so she can enjoy HER favorite holiday.

Nine year old Poppy completely stole my heart. And I’m not the only one. Hollis fell in love with her immediately. . . and she also falls hard for Poppy’s big brother, “Officer Grump,” Mike Cross, even though he’s a total a$$ to her initially. But, he definitely makes up for it at Christmas. Yes, you’ll swoon.

𝙎𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙗𝙚𝙮𝙤𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙡𝙚𝙜𝙚𝙣𝙙 𝙡𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝙛𝙧𝙖𝙜𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙩𝙝.

This novella is a sweet and steamy introduction to the inhabitants of Passion Falls and I’m looking forward to the next book.

The Magic of Heart Mountain follows Hollis who has temporarily moved to Passion Falls, Canada from California and is the new Christmas store owner for the season as well as Mike the grumpy local police officer. We can't forget about Poppy who is Mike's Christmas obsessed, funny and sweetest younger sister and keeps Mike on his toes. Mike and Hollis can't seem to stop bumping into each other which is really getting on Mike's nerves, but he also has an undeniable attraction to her which causes some extra grumpiness from Mike. Hollis who is unfazed by Mike becomes close to his sister and spending time with Poppy only fuels the fire between Mike and Hollis. Mike and Poppy have gone through some tough times throughout the years, but Hollis seems like she is the perfect balance to their little family as long as Mike is willing to let her get close.

This small-town Christmas novella is filled with romance, love, spice, tons of laughs and left me wanting to find a little Christmas magic as well. I can't wait to read the next book in this series especially after being introduced to the great people of Passion Falls and their silly antics. I always love a little Christmas in the summer, so I recommend not waiting and start this novella today.

Thank you, K.C. Lynn for the ARC and sharing a little magic with me! 😉

Mike is a grump. No. He’s a GRUMP. Yeah, that’s better. But he’s also using that grumpy facade to hide a heart of gold. He’s a guy who is doing his best to provide his sister with the life she deserves while also trying so hard to resist the woman who bumped into him. And he can’t seem to avoid that woman now. She’s everywhere he goes. She’s everything he wants. And she’s the one person he doesn’t know how to keep.

Hollis is very much out of her usual surroundings, but she loves every bit of this place. A little bit Hallmark, a whole lot small town bliss, this is the place she just knows she belongs. But that grumpy guy who makes sure she knows he can’t stand her just might ruin it. Well, until he slips up and lets her know he’s really into her, that is. The real question is whether or not magic and love are myth or truth.

This is an excellent beginning to what I see as a fantastic series. The friendships. The not so friendly friendships. The second chances that might be waiting. And the hope for love all around. Yeah, those all make for a town I can’t wait to spend more time in, hopefully soon!

A mountain with a legend.

A grumpy Mountie with a heart of gold and a California girl who makes her mark.

This is a grumpy sunshine romance. That delights and charms in equal measure.

As Mike and Hollis can't seem to stop bumping into each other and Mike's friend Ellie is sure it's because of the magic of the mountain.

Yet, Hollis and Mike aren't so sure. What they are sure of is they drive each other crazy. But when Hollis meets Mike's super adorable nine-year-old sister Poppy, the pair soon form a truce. As Hollis agrees to babysit Poppy after school and the grump; well, he's not so grumpy after all and Hollis finds herself falling hard.

But her life is in California, not small town Passion Falls, Canada isn't it?

And with extremely likable characters, adorable moments, cuteness and a little heat. The Magic of Heart Mountain was a story I couldn't put down, and I can't wait to return to this magical small town and these wonderful characters next month.

I would happily recommend The Magic of Heart Mountain to all.

My thanks to K.C.Lynn for the opportunity to read an early copy of The Magic of Heart Mountain. 😊

Christmas in June? Don't mind if I do! This was an adorable Christmas novella to start off this new series.

Hollis comes to Passion Falls to help her cousin get his Christmas shop ready to sell. Mike is the grumpy RCMP officer and is also the guardian to his sassy 9 year old sister. Hollis meets Mike in a not so meet cute by literally rear ending his squad car in the snow. With this being a small town, these two end up running into each other all the time. Mike's friend seems to think they are being pulled together by the magic of Heart Mountain. But what will happen when the Christmas shop sells and Hollis goes back to California!

This was the perfect opening for this series! We get to meet this great group of friends , and I can't wait to read their stories throughout this series. Mike's sister Poppy was an absolute joy! Her sassy remarks had me smiling throughout the whole story! And I LOVED how Mike and Hollis met! The banter between them was amazing. This totally reminded me of a cute hallmark movie with a little spice, and I loved every bit of it!

Thank you, K.C. Lynn for this ARC!

Sigh… awe what a sweet read that has me re-entering the gorgeous backdrop that is the setting of this story, the Canadian Rockies. It is one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited. After reading this book, I now need to go back in the winter months, preferably at Christmas time. Hee hee.

This quick little read has all the elements I love. A grumpy, misunderstood hero starts this story with a new to the area California gal. They have a hilarious interaction involving a slight fender bender. Our hero is raising his young sister who is not only darling but so preciously funny, she has me laughing frequently. I love how our heroine falls in love with this sweet little girl as well as our dashing hero.

You will see the magic of heart mountain happen in this telling. Yes you get some folklore at its finest. Eek. So good. Umm plan for some smexy parts as well. It was yummy. You won’t be disappointed. Wink.

I can’t wait for more stories from all the friends in this book. Yes I am a series gal. Happy Reading Everyone! XOXO

An Adorable Christmas Romance

This was the cutest, funniest little Christmas romance to start of KC Lynn’s new series!

“It’s said the mountain has magical powers that can unite two souls destined to be together. According to the legend, at the stroke of midnight under a full moon, if you share a kiss on the mountain’s ledge, you’ll be bound to your one true love forever.”

When Hollis and Mike quite literally bump into each other on Hollis’ first day in Passion Falls it leads to a bit of a heated interaction. And even though it’s a small town, neither of them excepted to run into each other again when Mike little sister, Poppy, befriends her.

This book was just so much fun to read! Mike and Hollis are the literal grump and sunshine, loved the banter between them. And Mike is a basically a dad to his little sister, those two are adorable and so funny together!

Honestly if you’re looking for a cute and fun Christmas read then this definitely the book to pick up! So excited for the next book!

so worth it

It’s been a long time since I stayed up until 3am to finish a book, but that’s exactly what I did with this one. This book was a breath of fresh air. From page one I was so enthralled. The author does a brilliant job of making the story so compelling and engaging. The funny quips made me laugh out loud several times. I found the characters to be very entertaining and I immediately felt connected to each one for different reasons. I rarely like a book where a child is one of the main characters but Poppy was perfect! The author made her not only realistic but lovable. She tore at my heart strings over and over and was incredibly well written. Mike and “California “ had me from the first “bump” in the story. They made me laugh, screams bit, cry, and laugh some more. I don’t know how I never heard of this author, but thank God I saw the cover of the second book in the series and bought both. I can’t wait to dive in to the next one and then decide all the works from this author.
