I LOVED seeing Kikoru have an entire and fantastic arc to shine! Seeing the "arc" (aka fight) wrap up in this volume was everything and definitely feel like it will always stick out in my mind as how woman characters can shine just as much as male characters in shonen manga. Thank you, Sensei!

I do confess that I missed not seeing more of Kafka in this volume, which is something I had really really been looking forward to. However, I do think this volume was interesting in that everyone really is fighting their own battles. It's not that others don't want to come help, but with how smart these kaiju are and them knowing everyone's weaknesses, no one can leave their position and come to provide aid.

I am still not a fan of Narumi even though his battle and the backstory were very interesting! I think he and I will always have a love-hate relationship as a reader and character and this volume helped me accept that. :p

I LOVED the ending with Hoshina!! He's amazing every single time and the "trick" he had up his sleeve left me feeling giddy! He's so cool!

Overall, not my favorite volume, but I still deeply enjoyed it, especially the beginning and ending!!

The current kaiju assault rages through a third volume in the series -- and probably will continue for at least a couple more I'd guess. But even in the midst of all the action, the author manages to work in character development and heroic moments that choke me up more than a silly little battle manga should be able to do.

Once again, Kikoru Shinomiya steals the show. Hell, she's so awesome even her evil doppelganger is better than most of the other characters in the series just by being a reflection of her.

Some other guys get some good scenes in the second half of the book, but I could read the first half over and over.

Kaiju-Candy!
This book was great!

It continues the one on one combats and has a few dramatic moments that really propel some characters forward and make the readers care! The layout and art are super well done and really compliment the dramatic desperation that the characters are facing.
Each combatant faces ghosts from their pasts, conflicts of emotions and inner demons as they are getting the snot kicked out of them by Custom killer Kaiju. Which is nice, but a careful reader will also notice a connection and over arching theme that I assume is clever foreshadowing, and shows some really excellent storytelling craft on Matsumoto's part.
This book was super dramatic and I loved how it pulled me in. There is a fantastic Kafka entrance that I wasn't looking for and got really excited about when it happened. I love it when a character you assume is just plot armor suddenly matters! I hope down to my marrow that this series stays this good, because now that it's hit it's stride, It's stupidly easy to read and highly addictive!

Тогава нека нахвърлям част от причините "Кайджу №8" да ми допада толкова много. Освен ако причината не е една-единствена и много дълга, разбира се :D
Насреща си имаме стандартна шонен история - характерни персонажи, много битки, много приятелство, много "искам да съм по-силен". На външен вид нищо особено.
Реално не е нужно да е нещо особено, особено в този жанр. Понякога е хубаво просто защото достига до читателя по необясними причини. Поглеждала съм сигурно стотици шонени и добре знам постройката им, но някои просто ме улавят с нещо - арт, лек и приятен стил на излагане на историята, симпатични герои, които не е задължително да са излезли свръх далеч от шаблоните... просто с нещо. "Кайджу" също притежава нещо, нещо като за мен. Не ми е нужно да го назовавам с точно определена причина. Някои манги просто ти харесват. Някои разочароват след време, други стават все по-хубави. Мисля си, че "Кайджу" ще е от вторите, докато "Джуджуцу" се държи някъде по средата със заплахата да върви към първите, ако не броим арта.
Както и да е. Силно харесвам образа на Кафка. Харесва ми крехкото равновесие у него, което го прави толкова реалистичен и шоненски едновременно. Харесва ми и това, че той въобще не е главният герой в крайна сметка. Харесва ми, че главни герои са всички, всички, всички. Затова харесвам още и Хошина, Рено и Ихару, които са по-изявени. И нещо, което е достойно да се отбележи - харесвам Кикору и Мина. А толкова рядко се случва да се радвам на женски персонажи. Харесва ми колко стегнато и естетически стилно, поне за моя вкус, е всичко. Как авторът не те оставя да скучаеш с една безкрайна битка до припадък. Пък дори и да е по-дълга, аз лично тук не го усещам, за разлика от опита ми с други заглавия. "Кайджу №8" е моето гилти плежър, както казвахме едно време, поне за началото на тази година, очевидно. Малко ми е тъжно единствено, че анимето не получи достоен, готин арт. Мангата е по-красива, факт.

A pretty good volume as we get the troops getting their second wind and defeating their respective Kaijus and each one show us a bit about their motivations and past and show us character growth. We get some awesome moments like Hibino showing up and using his Kaiju form which we have not seen in a long time and just slaps away one of the kaijus. We get a heartbreaking moment with Kikoru as she kills her numbered Kaiju and the kaiju shows a bit of humanity and we see her crying realizing that she was just a pawn for Kaiju number 9.

A totally action-packed volume that continues the ongoing battles as a couple of them finally conclude their deadly encounters with style. An adequate attention is put on these characters' past, their motivation to succeed, and their willpower.

Picking the manga up where the anime left off, cause I simply cannot wait after the stressful situation that they decided to end season two with.

What a great time seeing Kikoru and Narumi kicking absolute ass, I'm especially proud of Kikoru and I liked getting more from Narumi's past.

This volume ends with the absolute love of my life, so I cannot wait to start the next one to see Hoshina being the smartest, most incredible, talented, perfect kaiju killer ever ♡
