Carla’s life after university had taken an unusual turn. Her mum had a bad fall, so instead of diving into a fabulous new career, Carla had the task of covering her part-time jobs, cleaning homes and walking dogs.
Simon didn’t dislike his painting and decorating business - he was his own boss - but he dreamed of earning his living as an artist.
Angela was back in Saltmarsh Quay after a few months of sorting out her late brothers affairs in London. She was tired and, now in her seventies, it had hit her hard that she was all alone and had no other living relatives.
Alina had opened her restaurant on the Greek island of Vekianos. The season had started and she knew it would be busy, but was hoping her son Nectarios would take more responsibility and not leave everything to her.
Nectarios was excited; the winter months were over, summer was on the way, which meant lots of holidaymakers visiting the island and he was ready to party.
Carla, Simon and Angela could never have guessed how their Greek Island Holiday was about to change their lives forever.
After months sorting out her late brother's estate Angela returns home and decides to act before its too late. She's determined to go away on holiday Taking two younger friends with her to stay.
Carla is one who is considering what to do Now the need to help covering for her Mum is through. Simon has just finished painting Angela's home at last But the chance to be a full time artist seems to have passed.
These three friends are off for a Greek Island holiday In an amazing villa is where they will stay. Mixing with the locals, finding new friends, too, This is a life changing experience they're all going through.
A fabulous read with great characters who Feel like friends as you see what they do. There's surprises and fun, tasty food, too, And new chances for romance for more than just two!
I really enjoyed visiting Vekianos once more The place, the people and events to explore. Such a good read, from beginning to end, From this talented author on whom you can depend.
I've just finished reading a wonderful collection of books that Ian has set on his fictitious island of Vekianos in Greece. It is a boat ride from Corfu and also from Parga on the mainland (I wish!) Each book has its own delightful story to tell, the characters in each are fleshed out just enough - giving you the chance to use your own imagination to complete them!I I've thoroughly enjoyed each read - which leave you with the delicious sense of wanting to know what happens next. Thank you Ian, keep your lovely reads from the different islands coming.
Carla, Simon and Angela go to Vekianos, a beautiful Greek Island for a holiday. They are an unlikely trio as Carla and Simon are in their twenties and Angela is seventy. The sunshine and the beautiful setting bonds their friendship quickly and they find themselves falling in love with Vekianos and its inhabitants. Filled with friendship, community, sunshine and romance this is the perfect Summer read.
This is a summer beach read with predictable events and solutions. This is fine for non demanding reading and I liked it because of the island descriptions and the food. I have to say that I became tired of the relentless good humour of the characters which was a bit unlikely. My pet hate are the words sat and stood instead of sitting and standing which occurred very frequently . I apologise for bring a pedant or whatever but this really grated on me.
I really enjoyed this book. It is the story of Carla, Angela and Simon, all living in Norfolk, but all not really sure of what they should or should not be doing in life. Would a Greek holiday help them decide? As the two weeks on a Greek island go on, they all face dilemmas and decisions which hold the key to their futures. I thoroughly recommend this delightful read.
Once again Ian has written an un-putdownable book . It was lovely to be back in Greece with such enjoyable characters I really hope Ian can write more with these people as I'd love to know how their lives progress . If you haven't read any of Ian's books before now is the time to start!
I loved the description of the island, the people, good food and lifestyle. I have lived on a Greek island, and it is all so accurate. What I didn't like was the drawn out ending, which I truly couldn't agree with. But it was an easy and light hearted read, which is why I feel stars is an acceptable rating.
Found a really good series of books to get lost in!
Really enjoyed reading the 2nd of the series of this Author's books. love the way it flowed on with from the previous. Good stories set in lovely surroundings making me wish I could be there too! I can't wait to start the next.
I really enjoyed reading this story. The Greek Island in the story was very interesting and so much like Greece. I look forward to reading the next book by Ian Wilfred. I recommend this book to my family and friends.
