What do you mean I have to wait until June for the next volume? Get it to me nowwwwwwwwww!!
Wow. So a lot to unpack here. Continued world-building, then expanding on that. Can I say, Good googly moogly.” Not the most eloquent, but my goodness! I can’t wait to unravel THAT plot thread. I wanted to know how the transfloration process started and I appreciate the tidbits. I love mysteries and interwoven threads in stories and this manga has been doing a fantastic job of that thus far.
Shout out to Alice, the liquor head, “Booze!” Had me rolling and side splitting laughing.
Muruka/Ivy, I’m gonna need you to stop breaking my heart. One I’d the many things Fool Night does well, is allow you to see the complexities of our society. Human nature, bureaucracy, nuances, proletariat vs bourgeoisie.
Ugh.

Le calme après l’orage, voilà qui résume bien ce tome qui referme partiellement la parenthèse Ivy et occupe le lecteur avec une nouvelle affaire poignante dont on tire une belle leçon d’humanité.
Derrière ses allures de titres lynchéen au trait incroyable, l’histoire n’est pas que ça, elle a la même profondeur que son dessin, la même allure envoûtante et les mêmes propos percutants. Ce n’est pas juste un enrobage comme tant de séries qui se frottent à des thèmes dits durs (**kof kof la déception de Blue Period **), il y a ici une vraie réflexion philosophique.
La preuve, nous abandonnons un temps Ivy mais ce n’est que reculer pour mieux sauter. Les protagonistes continuent d’enquêter dans l’ombre sur les magouilles faites en haut lieux dans l’institut de floraison et plus pour arriver au résultat d’Ivy et des autres, car ce qui s’est produit n’est pas normal. Autre preuve, même si c’est un tome de pause et de célébration, où cela fait du bien de respirer un peu et de voir nos personnages heureux, s’amuser et faire la fête, on n’oublie jamais le drame extérieur qui plane au-dessus d’eux. L’auteur nous fait bien comprendre à chaque instant que la vie est courte et qu’il faut en profiter.
Dernière preuve, peut-être la plus importante pour moi, même quand on repart sur un schéma classique d’enquête, ce n’est pas juste une enquête pour une enquête, c’est une quête philosophique avec un réel questionnement sur le deuil, la mort et l’art et l’artiste. Et ce que Tsubasa Yamaguchi n’a pas réussi à faire dans le tome 15 de Blue Period en interrogeant ses héros sur cette difficile question, Kasumi Yasuda y arrive ici avec une belle économie de page, dans un chapitre qui a tellement plus de profondeur grâce à une écriture toute en nuance d’un couple où la femme met du temps à comprendre son mari artiste décédé et transfloré. Pas d’artifice, pas de pseudo psychologie, la réalité brute dans cet univers et c’est tellement plus percutant et juste.
Oeuvre lynchéenne qui continue de me fasciner graphiquement, elle est aussi un petit bijou de scénario et de mise en scène. Même dans les tomes plus calmes et posés, il y a une profondeur humaniste et philosophique qui percute et pénètre le lecteur. L’enquête se poursuit donc en coulisses sur Ivy et nos héros apprennent à affronter la brièveté de leur vie. C’est beau, c’est fort, c’est émouvant, c’est juste.

As Toshiro recovers from his wounds, in a confrontation over information, Dr. Kudai is willing to give answers as long as Hourai becomes his personal spy, and by agreeing we find out that Toshiro was supposedly made by a scientist, and there's a group in the antarctic known as the Central, who are trying to make humanity go extinct.
I was very excited when this volume came out, coming off of a really good previous installment, and it lived up to the hype with more conflicting narratives between the characters and more investigation and politics regarding Transfloration Medical.
The volume was very stimulating, the art was consistent as always, I enjoyed the story and I can't wait to see how they further develop the Central.

Volume 8 closes the previous story arch, and plants a new seed (pun intended) to keep developing the main plot; shows us some happy moments of growth and celebration, very slice-of-life in the best sense of the term; and closes up with a new mini investigation case, about a painter, that I found really enjoyable.
Over all, this might feel a bit slow for some readers, but I really enjoyed it after so much (confusing) action in the previous volumes. Plus, you know... it's probably just the calm before a new storm.

感覺第四轉花院的院長之後還會有戲
最後一話的故事挺溫馨的
但應該只是過場

SO MANY LORE DROPS OMG??? like we got the new and true (for now at least) people in charge and there are so many moving pieces. im so worried for everyone honestly but for yomiko the most. the doctor is such an interesting character as well with motivations i did not expect from him. it also felt like a more ""wholesome"" volume. helping out the wife of the painter, having the party and having a good time! i bet it can only get worse from here!!!
