The Dragonfate Games #4

Alpha Dragon's Ferret

Rate this book
Will a new twist in the Dragonfate Games spark love—or ruin two brothers’ chances forever?

Aurum has a problem. A huge, dragon-sized one—his identical twin brother, Saffron. Before the Dragonfate Games, they were thick as thieves. Now their arguments over fated mates are intensifying. While Saffron swoons over romance, Aurum’s sick of it. He’s losing his brother, and he’ll do anything to stop it... even if it means sabotaging their shared season of the Dragonfate Games.

Mylo has a problem. Well, maybe a few. One: he’s painfully shy. Two: he’s chubby. Three: his parents forcibly entered him into a popular TV dating show. Four: he’s the only omega who can tell Aurum and Saffron apart. Five: that really pisses off Aurum, and he’s cute when he’s mad...

When Aurum confronts the plump little weasel about his meddling, he loses his cool... and his mind. Because Mylo does weird, magical things to him—and Aurum’s not sure how long he can resist.

Alpha Dragon’s Ferret is a fun, sweet mpreg novel featuring a headstrong alpha dragon, a timid omega ferret, and twin shenanigans. Reading the series in order is recommended. No cheating, and fluffy HEA guaranteed!

lo más fantasioso de este libro no fue el hecho de que el protagonista principal sea un dragón alfa en busca de su omeguita para embarazarlo, si no que un LOLERO haya experienciado el amor (y se bañe)

Book safety, content warnings, and tropes down below.

I squeezed my eyes shut, hoping to look different when I opened them. It didn’t happen. It never did.

I’m not quite sure what to say about this one or how to rate it, because I went in expecting more lighthearted cuteness and shifter shenanigans like in the previous three books, and instead cried my way through the whole thing because of the fatshaming and internalized fatphobia. I’m not quite sure how I feel about the ‘fat gamer’ stereotype either, but I think my own issues are heavily influencing how I view this story. I kept waiting for the MC to feel better about himself, to maybe work through some of his own issues, to heal from the shaming and trauma, but instead it kinda felt like all of that potential growth was skipped in favor of him finding his fated mate. Which I understand, it *is* supposed to be a lighthearted shifter romance, but I feel like if you’re gonna take it in that direction, you gotta follow through. Some of the things that happened and was said, both by minor characters and the MC himself (about himself) was really fucking upsetting.

Some people might read this and not even notice, it all depends our own experiences I would think, but man did this hit me harder than it should, and way harder than I thought it would.

At least we got a cute ferret shifter.

So Poppy was a wolf shifter? I didn’t expect that given his soft-spoken demeanor. I assumed he was a bunny, or a sentient cotton ball.

I remembered that despite their cute appearance, ferrets were predators—perfect little killing machines.

First off, I loved that Mylo was plus size and a shy gamer boy. He was adorable and I want to keep him. Aurum was very immature, but sweet in his own way. Aurum was so blunt during sex and Mylo’s overwhelmed squeaky responses. I didn’t love the whole “our brothers can’t tell us apart unless my hair is dyed” thing. It gave me the ick. Mylo and Aurum were a cute couple and gave each other safe places to land.

Spice: 3/5

Triggers: breaking and entering, fat phobia, bullying, unsupportive parents, reference to infant abandonment

I love how Mylo included Saffron when he gave birth... Knowing Aurum needed his twin there too 🥺 Super sweet.

Lo siento, por el momento está siendo el peor. Siento que esta historia está bien pero demasiado cogida con pinzas. Los personajes por separado si me gustaron, pero ha habido acciones que no me han gustado.

Con ganas del siguiente.

This has been for me the best book in the series so far. I adore It, liked the internal dramas and the couple were so cuteee.

And can we also Talk about the fact that we got a the dragon origin story and It was so weird. Like apperently eggs just appeared on the beach?? And Cobalt was alone until Viol came along?? This made me so sad. So basically they don't have parents nor they know where they come from. Why are they on the island?? Where does their wealh come from??? I'm a Intrigued. My hype for this series about color dragons grows With each book.

I'll become insuferable when Viol's book comes out. I'm so fucking excited to finally know what his special interest is because the authour has given me clues but I don't know how to interpret them and I'm confused.

It’s okay I enjoyed it. I’m more excited about the next one that’s coming up because I’ve been waiting for this couple. I’ve been waiting. I can’t wait to see how Alaric finally find his mate. I feel like he deserves it and I also wanna see behind the scenes of the dragon games. Hopefully the change of scenery will make it more interesting because I like all the books of course but they all follow the same story line with just different characters. I also really want Poppy to find his mate I’m hoping it’s Viol.

I can’t say I was all that impressed.
This series is very, very fluffy and really all kinds of silly, but I still come back for more whenever a new book comes out.

I liked this story, but I did not like the fat rep. There is so much fatphobia in this, including internalized, that it was at times hard to read. I also am conflicted on the way it comes across as love fixed Mylo’s self-image. This is of course my own personal feelings and I’m sure others get more out of Mylo, but for me this isn’t exactly a book I’d recommend. I liked the twins and I liked the prologue and I cannot wait for Saffron to find his mate and I love all the dragon brothers, which is largely why I didn’t DNF despite my distaste for how Mylo was treated and the way he saw himself. Basically, this is a book to go into with caution as a fat person, but as part of the overarching series, it’s a good addition, especially with the new Viol development we’ve been getting. I’m pretty confident at this point that Viol is going to be the last of the brothers to find his mate and in like 85% sure it’ll be . I cannot wait to read Jade and Alaric’s story next!!

truthfully my least fave of the series! I really wanted Poppy’s story!! Hes the cutest!!

Aureum was fun towards the end, but I just wasnt a big fan of him in the beginning. He was annoying and mean to Saffron. He didn’t see Saffron’s suffering and thought it was lame that he wanted to fall in love. Now Aureum is the in love one and that hurts my heart because Saffron wanted it so badly! Badly enough that he would have settled for a shitty relationship…

I wanna see hopeless romantic Saffron find his mate !! But I guess Jade is next… heh

I do enjoy this series though…

I truly am in love with this series, it has my whole heart. Admittedly I was a bit nervous because Aurums inner thoughts weren't showing him as the greatest male (nothing bad towards Mylo though) but I'm glad to say he soon got his act together and we got witness many adorable and protective moments. I also do love that he's so close to his twin, even when they fight, and that Saffron wasn't just written out once Aurum found his fated mate, bc that would have made me so sad on behalf of a fictional character 😅 But no happy ending, adorable bonus scene from the authors newsletter as always, and as always I'm devastated that I won't get more of these omegas and dragon's until October 2024. I wish I had self restraint to not read the books as soon as they come out so the next one isn't so far away...but that has yet to happen

Another totally adorable sequel to the series.

It’s campy, it’s cute, it’s plus size rep and mpreg, just good vibes all around. I didn’t expect to like this series so much since it’s a kinda cheesy dragon dating show, but it gets cuter and smoother as the books go on.

I also didn’t like paranormal romance books with small animal shifters, but now I’m totally sold. I wanna carry my husband in my pocket everywhere too!

What a fun fluffy read. I CANNOT wait for the next book! I’ve been waiting for that couple for a while.

Listening to it after reading it, I find myself liking it more. Aurum just loves Mylo for who he is and goes about building up Mylo's self-confidence. They have a natural chemistry and Mylo always being able to tell the twins apart was special.

Just so freaking cute. Seeing Aurum fall in love after all his protests was perfect. Mylo was utterly adorable.

Disclaimer: I’m going to review it without spoilers at the top, then create a line and anything below that line will be spoilers. Do with that what you will.

Back again for another brother’s love story, and this one I really enjoyed.

What I liked:
- Aurum’s nefarious plans and him being pleasantly surprised with the change in plans lol
- I kept wondering why their parents weren’t mentioned and appreciated the view into the backstory. It was unique and unexpected, and I’m curious if there will be any closure to it by the end of the series to explain more about it.
- WE LOVE A CHUBBY MC! 👏🏼 and the author actually understood the assignment by mentioning a lack of him being fetishized. Although I’m a little disappointed in the whole “insecure” aspect of it all. People can be fat and still confident. I’m a prime example 😂
- This book was honestly pretty funny, funnier than the others I’ve read. Here’s some of my favorite quotes:
- So Poppy was a wolf shifter? I didn’t expect that given his soft-spoken demeanor. I assumed he was a bunny, or a sentient cotton ball.
- What was this carnivorous tube doing to me? // the ferret puns were running rampant in the book and I loved the phrase carnivorous tube 😂

What I didn’t care for:
- As always, the Instalove. I get instant attraction, but throwing around the L word like it’s candy is ridiculous. But there was a bit of plot development at least with this one…but still admission by challenge 2 😒
- Jade is more present in the administration of the show, so I’m curious why Alaric and him haven’t connected yet. (Only know this since their book is out)

SPOILERS BEYOND THIS POINT
——————————————

- The previous book mentioned 7 brothers and the rainbow. But that’s not really true because the twins are both yellow. I liked the premise of the rainbow and thought that the “orange” was due to Aurum’s different hair color…and then it’s dye. I loved the rainbow brother premise and wish it had actually been done.
- Even with the above note, I liked the whole confusion of who’s who, tricking people, Mylo being able to tell the difference, etc. premise of this book.
- Mylo admitting to Saffron that he loves Aurum is just wild. I love them together but you’ve literally known this day for a day or two, are shy, and you’re able to admit this? It’s just unrealistic.
- The video game sex scene was pretty hot. Especially since Aurum got a bit subby/service top in the moment.
- Yay to twins again AND baby ferrets with little wings. It would have been cute if they were yellow-footed ferrets or something though to bring in the color trait.
- Loved that their names were video game characters too vs. color names that really don’t work.
- What age are these babies? Some should be able to speak or something. It’s like they’re all super tiny and aren’t growing even though multiple births and a couple years would have occurred by now.

Mylo and Aurum were cutie patooties. Aurum was so accepting of Mylo from Day 1 and did not let anyone talk smack about him. His natural default setting was to adore Mylo, while giving his twin, Saffron, heck during the interim. Of course, we get an adorable happily ever after, filled with friends, family, and babies.

Poppy and Alaric were troopers as usual. Alaric and Jade's book is next, then Saffron's, so that leaves Poppy (with Viol, hopefully...yes, please!).

Notable Scenes/Quotes:

“What will their names be?” Jade asked. “If I may make a suggestion, how about Austen and Brontë?”

Crimson gasped. “Satin and Silk!”

“Rock and Roll!” Thystle countered.

Violet called out next. “Faith and Destiny!”

Cobalt was glad for the heavy rain. It drowned out half of their suggestions.

He glanced at the two identical dragons. Even in the overcast light, their scales gleamed like gold. An idea sprang to his mind.

“Aurum and Saffron,” he stated. “Those will be their names.”
++++++++++++++++

Normally, I enjoyed exploring and looking around, but Mylo kept drawing my attention. If we were in a video game, he’d be the main story objective and everything else mere side quests.
++++++++++++++++

Mylo bit his lip, glancing anxiously at the door like the rules police would burst in at any second. “What if someone finds out? And how did you even get in?”

“One, I don’t care if anyone finds out. The rules are flexible. Two, window.”

Mylo’s brows knitted together. “Window?”

I pantomimed my actions. “Dragon. Fly. Enter through window.”

“You... broke into my hotel room?”

“Pretty much.” I grinned at his astonished face.

“I own the joint, though, so it’s not technically wrong.”

“What if I’d been naked?” Mylo blurted.

I grinned, pleased at the mental image. “That would’ve been a bonus.”
++++++++++++++++

“Why do you wear that oversized crap anyway?” I asked.

“Er... I can’t tell you, since you enacted that rule about self-deprecation.” I rolled my eyes.

“Put it on pause for a sec. I officially decree you can answer my question.”

“Promise you won’t bite my fingers off?”

“Promise.”
++++++++++++++++

“Hey,” he said.

“Hi.”

“You’re cute, you know that?”

“You’re the one who’s cute,” I stammered back.
++++++++++++++++

“Is this allowed?” Mylo asked hesitantly.

“Yes,” Saffron and I said at the same time, which made it sound even more like a lie. And it kinda was.
++++++++++++++++

“Don’t feel bad,” Taylor said. “When it comes to clothing, Crimson seems like an arrogant jerk, but he just wants to help.”

“I heard that, darling,” Crimson called from the closet.

“I said it loud enough that you could, dear,” Taylor shot back with a smile.

Alpha Dragons Ferret || Hawke Oakley (The Dragonfate Games Book 4)

Mylo, a shy quiet gamer, was happy to stay home playing his games but his parents had other ideas and entered him into the Dragonfate games. When he arrived, he felt so out of place, quiet and chubby he didn’t think he would stand a chance among the other omegas.

The twins, Aurum and Saffron are the dragon bachelors for this game and Aurum isn’t pleased about it - and to everyone’s surprise, neither is Saffron. But still Aurum decides to trick the omegas into thinking his is Saffron to confuse people and hopefully stop anyone from falling for his brother. In the process he meets Mylo, and stands up to Billy’s who are being mean about Mylos weight.

Mylo figured something is fishy during the first task where the omegas have to tell apart the twins and figured out that Aurum was pretending to be Saffron but he has no trouble telling them apart. Aurum was so determined to not find his mate, but fate had other plans. He became obsessed with his little ferret shifter.

“Standing humbly in the crowd, Mylo caught my gaze and held it. He knew—and he knew that I knew, too. Annoying little tube rat.”

Between sneaking into the hotel to see Mylo and whisking him away, he couldn’t deny the pull to Mylo when Saffron asked him about it. Saffron on the other hand didn’t feel a pull to anyone and had been chatting with a human who he claimed as his boyfriend - which after seeing the love between Mylo and Aurum he realised it wasn’t what he was hoping for.

Mylo and Aurum are so adorable together, the different tube names Aurum calls Mylo is adorable, they have a sweet chemistry, not as much spice as the other books but still adorable! Now to wait for the next book to be released!

“There was that fluffy tingle in my chest again. What was this carnivorous tube doing to me?”

This story was a pleasant surprise. I was nervous going into Aurum's journey because he has been rather prickly about finding love, a sharp contrast to his twin, Saffron. But his story ended up being unique, chaotic, and fun.

The book was a great balance of Aurum and Mylo's relationship but also learning more about how Aurum and his brothers came to be on the island. I liked learning these little tid-bits as they have been questions in the back of my mind. Where are your parents? How do you have the money you do? So we are finally getting some answers. We even get more Viol in this book and I cannot wait for his story, seriously I need it badly.

In terms of romance I liked that Aurum and Mylo bonded over gaming. We had more insta-love that is to be expected with this series and the fated-mates thing but that's okay for me. I also loved that Mylo was taken in by Alaric and Poppy. Poppy and Mylo are kindred spirits and it was a great balance to see. My only complaint is I would have liked to see Mylo grow in confidence and work through his issues with his weight and insecurities. That was kinda of brushed over in this book and in that aspect I thought Mylo deserved a little more. Now to patiently wait for the next one!

Okay fine, I’m lowkey obsessed with this series. I’m so intrigued by the characters and the future mates of said characters.
The spice in this was better, and I liked that Mylo was plus sized, experienced some derogatory remarks and got a bit sad about it, but it ultimately was not his ENTIRE personality. I really hate when you read books and it’s some plain Jane who is like “I’m fat and I hate myself, boo” and that’s like the entire inner monologue the whole time. This wasn’t like that, and I enjoyed it, despite thinking I wouldn’t.
I felt like there was potential for some angst in here, but idk, sometimes it’s shitty to read angst so I’m not really mad at it.
Plus, ferrets are cute.

I have high hopes for the next book, I’m looking forward to Alaric and Jade’s story, but definitely not as much as I am dying to read Viol’s. I’m praying he’s paired with Poppy? Idk, I just think it’ll be cute. I think Viol is deeply misunderstood and genuinely just like a big softy, especially now he’s been caught red handed stealing those plushies (is that his hoard, maybe?) and with the way he is with the kids. Honestly, I think a large factor in the way he behaves is the way he’s treated by his siblings. Idk, they’re kinda mean to him and I wanna give him a cuddle.

Alpha Dragon's Ferret Review

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 Overall Rating
🌶🌶🌶🌶/5 Spice Rating

Aurum and Mylo's story

💙 What to Expect 💙:

*MM romance🏳️‍🌈
*Chubby Representation
*Fated Mates
*Dragon Shifter🐲
*Ferret Shifter 🦦
*Nesting💛
*MMC is a Twin
*Low level angst
*Video game Bonding 🤓
*HEA🎊

💙 Things I loved 💙:

- The chubby representation in the character Mylo. In fact, I loved Mylo more than his partner Aurum, but they work well together.

You may have an aversion to how Mylo sees himself and his language towards his body if you struggle with body image. I personally have a sensitivity towards my body image as it concerns to my weight, but I found it empowering to see a character who thought similarly to me. I can, however, see how not everyone would have that same experience.

- I found myself equally annoyed and entertained by Aurum's antics at the beginning of the book. I couldn't stop grinning and rolling my eyes at his tom foolery.

Favorite Spicy Quote 🥵:
"Well, you are a snack."
"So you want to eat me?" I asked him with a light laugh.
"Sexually? Yes."

I recommend this book to people who want to see more chubby representation, mm romance, paranormal romance, mpreg, and sweet and soft stories.

Oh, and this book has the cutest nesting scene. 💕🌸

4🌟.

Like everything in the book. They're so sweet and incredible. I like the friendship between Milo, Poppy and Alaric. I like Saffron and Aurum better in this book. They were so annoying in the first book.

I also like Aurum overprotective behavior over Milo. They're so cute together.

I'm excited for the next book. Alaric is gonna finally found his fated mate. I think his perfume is the reason why Jade never take notice of him. I'm so happy for them but also sad cause Poppy is gonna be the only one without his mate.

I think Poppy is definitely Violet's fated mate because in this season Saffron said he didn't have one. So Saffron's mate is the mysterious one. I also think Saffron's mate has to be more confident like the tiger Taylor. So fingers crossed his mate gonna be introduced soon enough. Saffron deserve to find his mate even if he wasn't lucky this season.

I'll go and read the previous chapter. But this series is definitely a recommendation if you want to something fluffy and insta love, drama free.

This was so much fun! It was hilarious and easy to get lost in, especially with what’s going on in the world right now. This is silly and fun filled with just the right brand of chaos!

Aurum was so funny, he was a little bit of a gamer bro but also incredibly sweet in a golden retriever kind of way. Especially when it came to Mylo and his insecurities over his weight. I loved that he didn’t hesitate to point out how much he loved Mylo at every opportunity and also that he didn’t let Mylo hide behind his insecurities for long. It was so nice that Aurum gave Mylo that little confidence boost he needed to help him accept that he deserved to have all the good things in life. Like the friends he made on the show, the love of his fated mate, and the confidence to not hide his body. Also? Mylo really does deserve all the love for putting up with Aurum’s shenanigans and pranks. He was just the sweetest and he really helped balance out Aurum’s brand of chaos. Alpha Dragon’s Ferret is getting four out of five stars and I can’t wait to dive into the next one!

Cannot explain how I finished the first book, looked at all seven, and immediately wanted to read this one. It took all my self control to read this series in order. I cheered when I finally got to this one. Mylo and Aurum are adorable. Embarrassingly gag worthy cute. This book might have cured my deep unease around ferrets. I am pretty convinced ferrets hold evil tendencies. Blame redwall okay? Or their eyes? Have you looked into a ferret's eyes? They unnerve me. Same for squirrels. Okay anyway Mylo may have convinced me to reevaluate that. I loved how Aurum affirmed Mylo's attractiveness as an openly insecure chubby character. Also him telling Mylo to eat the pancakes 🥞  was so good. I vibed with two gamers figuring out they can game together for their entire lives and being fated mates. It is simply who I am as a person, alright?

Twin dragon bachelors? What's a ferret to do?

I love this series! I have missed being here. All the brothers are back. Old friends welcomed me. I felt right at home. The Dragonfate Games are in full force. Please tell me you have read the previous books. This story has the twins, Aurum and Saffron, trying to find their fated mate. Enter ferret Mylo, gamer extraordinaire. And the only one who can tell the twins apart. Get ready for intense gaming. The story of the stuffies continues. A transformation takes place. And the passion is so hot... uh, yeah. The cutest pregnancy, nesting and birth ever. How they got here and who got here, well, you'll just have to read the book. So get it Now!

Definitely didn't like this one as much as the others. I liked Mylo just fine and felt like him and Poppy established a great friendship. I really didn't like Aurum at the beginning of this and to be honest, I wasn't into his attitude from the previous books either. I also feel like the twins could have talked through their feelings a little more because I'm still a little confused as to where all the animosity came from. I know Jade and Alistair are next, but I kind of wish the author had done Alistair after Muzo and saved the twins so they could be done one after the other. It feels weird to split them up. We also never got to see or hear about Aurum's horde, even though it was mentioned in previous books. Overall, a decent read.

I love these books so much - they just make me smile.

These books are always, for the most part, pretty lighthearted and full of HEA energy. I'm jonesing for Viol though. He's either gonna end up with Poppy or a newly introduced omega.... but Poppy's energy seems to fit Viol's better than Saffron's.

I just wish they'd come out faster! October is so far away for Jade's story!
