Surprisingly Good!

I read a small snippet that came up on Facebook and thought it looked interesting, so I thought I would give it a go. I am so glad I did, it was highly addicting. The storyline was somewhat good and it was enough to keep my interest. That being said there were some problems with this too. For starters, I found the main female character, Piper, to be extremely weak and pathetic 99% of the time. I just could not warm to her. I also could not stand her daughter, Elva either. Elva was extremely bratty and entitled and also did not at all act like a supposed three year old. What enraged me the most, was that Piper's twin sister was utterly evil and cruel, seriously harms Piper's daughter, nearly killing her and Piper continues throughout the book, no matter what heinous new thing her twin did, she continued to protect and help Jane. I mean, get real woman.

The biggest disappointment with this novel was the ending. There was a big surprise that was just thrown in last minute, but the fight was like a few paragraphs and then it was over. But the ultimate thing, that just ruined the ending for me, was when Piper and Nick got back, the Queen hugs Piper and says she was wrong, so all is good. I mean, this woman had been vile, cruel and harmful to Piper, the ENTIRE book and right at the last minute at the end of the book, its all hugs and kisses.

What I loved about in this book was, Julian, he was the best character and I was totally cheering for him and Veronica to end up together and was ecstatic when they did in the end. I also liked Nick for the most part, though some moments I wanted to slap him. Veronica was the best and was more suited to a main female character than Piper was.

Overall, I would not recommend this novel, but I would not disparage or not recommend it either. It is one of those novels, that if you read, you read and if you don't, you don't. I am neutral on it.

Piper was a strong and powerful Werewolf, that grew up in the foster system with her twin sister Jane. Jane fell in with the wrong crowd and started acting different when they grew up and disappeared a lot. Piper went to a Royal Academy for school and there she met Nickolas. It was near love at first sight for both of them and they were together for a while, utterly in love.

But Jane, Piper's twin ended up pregnant and supposedly in heavy dept to the Underground, which were a group of evil werewolves that did highly illegal things. Thinking to save her twin and newborn niece, she sold her wolf to the Underground evil group. Her twin disappeared after that, leaving Piper with the baby. She decided to raise the girl to be her own daughter and to do that, she dropped out of school and broke-up with Nickolas, because she knew he would drop everything to help her and she did not want to ruin his life.

Pipers daughter unfortunately has been an extremely sick child, causing enormous medical bills, that made Piper skip meals and overwork to keep a roof over her head, food for the girl and cover the medical treatments. They lived in a crappy apartment with another woman who was her best friend. She worked at dead end jobs, that paid little and bosses that treated her like crap.

One day the Royal Werewolf family announce the competition for the three princes to get mates and the eldest prince and the next in line for the throne, is none other than Nickolas! Piper never knew he was a prince or that his brother Julian was also a prince. Piper's best friend knew that Piper has always loved Nick and never stopped, so she entered Piper into the competition.

Piper was one of the ones chosen and at first she was shocked and not wanting to go but decided to go and clear everything up at the Palace, because being a single mother was against the rules and should have ruled her out. When she gets there, the reception of Piper and her daughter was not good. Nick found her and took her and her daughter aside and told Piper off for not telling him he had a child. When Piper tells him that the girl is not his, he took it to mean she slept with someone else and so dismissed her.

The king decided to keep her in the competition for optics, letting the poor nobody have a try made them look good to the public. Piper soon meets up with Julian, but she never really knew Julian at school because Nick and him acted like they hated each other. Soon enough Piper and Julian become fast friends, especially when Julian tells her he is investigating the Underground and she was going to help.

Nick did not like their closeness and consistently threw mixed signals, but he soon bonded with her daughter and the little girl loved him. Nick eventually finds out the true story about Elva and starts treating Piper better and letting himself start to love her again.

There were multiple betrayals and fights throughout the book and both Julian and Nick protect her at all cost, even against their parents the King and Queen who hated Piper and wanted her gone and did horrible things to try and get Piper to go.

Piper finds out her twin set her up, so that Jane could actually steal Piper's wolf. Jane was WORKING with the Underground and high up in the command. She does seriously horrible things, including death cursing her bio daughter and that was why Elva was sick.

Piper is beloved by the public, Nick and Julian and even some of the other contestants. Piper becomes extremely close with Veronica and Susie. Veronica turns out to be a powerful magic user and she used to work for the Underground but turned against them when she realised she was brainwashed.

Piper and Nick fall in love all over again, but they went through a lot of crap, including the arrival of an old flame and friend that was utterly evil. Nick and Julian fall for her crap to start with but when she tries to seriously harm Piper, they turn against her.

Eventually, Nick has enough and announces the competition is over for him and he loves Piper and she will be his Luna and not only that she was his true mate. He proposed and she excepted and then Jane and the Underground kidnap Piper, Jane wanting to steal Piper's wolf again after Piper got it back earlier with the help of Veronica. It turns out that the lost Bear shifter princesses (twins), were Piper and Jane and Jane is going to steal both Piper's wolf and her bear and become the queen of both Werewolves and the bears.

A fight breaks out, the head of the underground kills Jane and is about to hurt Piper, when Nick shows up and kills him, saving her. Piper stops the war between the bears and the wolves and goes home with Nick. We never find out what happens with the bears and their kingdom.

Nick and Piper end up mated, married and Nick became King, he also adopts Elva and Piper is pregnant with their first bio kid. Julian is in love with Veronica and vice versa and they were engaged. They got their happily ever afters, but left a shitload of unanswered questions and the ending was sloppy and extremely rushed.

All in all, it was ok but not great either, it was just eh.

When I first picked up The Luna Choosing Game, I thought it would be just another werewolf romance with some predictable twists. But honestly, this book surprised me in the best way. It feels like a web novel that has all the fun, drama, and cliffhangers you expect, but also has a heart that pulls you in. Every chapter kept me hooked, and it gave me that exciting “one more page” feeling that makes a novel read so addictive.

The story itself is full of energy. We follow the main character through trials, choices, and lots of tension. It’s not just about who wins the game—it’s about identity, power, and love. The characters feel alive. Some of them made me laugh, others made me roll my eyes, and a few had me shouting at my screen. That’s the beauty of a good novel full of emotions—it doesn’t leave you passive. It makes you feel something.

I also love how The Luna Choosing Game balances romance and suspense. Just when you think you know what’s going to happen, the author throws in a twist. It really reminds me why I enjoy web novels so much: they’re interactive in spirit, almost like the author is teasing you, daring you to guess the next move.

Reading this book on GoodNovel was an easy choice for me. The platform makes it simple to dive into different stories, but this one stood out. I kept sneaking in chapters during breaks at work, before bed, even while commuting. It’s the kind of novel read that fits perfectly into daily life—you don’t need a huge block of time, just a few minutes and you’re swept away.

Of course, it has some clichés. If you’ve read other werewolf romances, you’ll recognize the familiar tropes: strong Alphas, complicated Lunas, rivalries, and secrets. But instead of feeling tired, it felt comforting—like the book knew exactly what fans of the genre wanted and gave it to us with a fresh spark.

Overall, The Luna Choosing Game is pure entertainment. It’s dramatic, fast-paced, and just the right amount of over-the-top. If you’re someone who enjoys a web novel experience with romance, competition, and plenty of twists, this is absolutely worth your time. It’s a novel full of energy, and every novel read will leave you curious for the next chapter.

Sadly this is going on my did not finish shelf.

It feels like a complete and blatant rip off of BillieJo Priestley’s Luna Battle: The Game. I don’t know if it’s possible, but whoever (or whatever? AI??) wrote this (more like stole the entire story??) made it boring and not as engaging. DESPITE the fact that—

Same subplot. Same characters, only their names are changed. A child is added in for the MFC. It even has the same underground plot. The challenges for the competition? All the same, right down to every single one.

Two princes. A girl who applies to the Luna choosing competition. Girl becomes friends with one of the other girls. That friend then ends up hooking up with the prince’s bestie guard. Literally every single thing is the same lol
