Small towns are perfect for fresh starts, and that's exactly what former U.S. Marshal Ethan Greer is counting on. After a near-fatal brush with danger and a brutal end to his marriage, he’s ready to trade the high stakes for a slower pace as Wishful's new police chief. It might take years to become a true local, but he's embracing the tight-knit community and finding a new sense of purpose. What he doesn’t expect is to meet a kindred spirit.
Dr. Miranda Campbell fled the relentless pressure of a big city ER to return to her hometown, where she could truly make a difference. With her hands full running a clinic, working ER shifts, volunteering at the new women's shelter, and reconnecting with family and friends, her life is full. But it's not too full to notice a sexy lawman when she sees one.
Neither is looking for a serious relationship, so a casual flirtation suits them just fine. But when Miranda becomes the target of a series of escalating threats, Ethan’s protective instincts kick in. Miranda's idyllic view of Wishful is putting her in harm's way, and she’s become more than a fleeting romance or a duty to him. With danger closing in, can Ethan uncover the culprit before his need to shield Miranda drives her away?
Kait Nolan is a RITA® Award-winning Mississippi author who calls everyone sugar, honey, or darlin', and can wield a 'Bless your heart' like a Snuggie or a saber, depending on requirements. She believes in love, laughter, and that tacos are the world's most perfect food. When she's not writing, reading, working the evil day job, or wrangling family (both the two-legged and the four-), you can find her obsessively watching The Great British Bake Off.
Note: Kait Nolan’s Wishful and Wishing For A Hero series intertwine. Nolan has this nifty spreadsheet on her website showing the chronological order if you’re obsessive like me. While I think Nolan does enough explaining that this could stand on its own – there are a mentions of events & characters from book 1 & 2 as well as Wishful citizens from other books that I think it would be better enjoyed by those fully immersed in the Wishful “universe”.
Ah! I’ve been waiting for Ethan’s story since Make You Feel My Love and Kait Nolan did NOT disappoint. (It also helps to bring up the image of Timothy Olyphant from Justified – swoon!) While this relationship proceeds at break-neck speeds, Nolan made it work in this full-length novel by giving Ethan and Miranda somewhat similar backstories. In their mid-30s and kindred spirits it was sweet to experience them coming together in a town full of meddling neighbors and relatives. As their romance progresses, there’s a steadily building mystery/suspense/stalker plot that kept me on edge and guessing until the villain is finally revealed.
I adore that Nolan’s heroines are not only intelligent and capable, but they would never fall in the “too stupid to live” category – which is a huge pet peeve of mine in romantic suspense. While Ethan does ultimately save the day, Miranda is no shrinking violet and stands her own when confronted with a harrowing situation.
The ending and epilogue are a nice wrap up to a sexy & thrilling story. Poor maligned Delaney gets her own book next in Burn for You.
2.5 stars Well, as much as I was excited about this book it was really disappointing to me .. I loved Ethen the moment he appeared in the first book and the fact that the main character is a doctor made me feel it was a match made in heaven .. alas I couldn't enjoy this book no matter how hard I try I was ok with the insta love thing that was going on but I feel their relationship was so rushed and there was no real chemistry between them except for Ethen rocking body !! maybe the last few chapters were fine but overall I expected much better .. let's hope the last book will be good because I loved Delaney
Kait Nolan's southern roots are reflected in her writing - all in a good way. Her series about the town of Wishful has captured my heart. The latest book is about the town doctor, Miranda, and the Chief of Police, Ethan. The books shows how they met, how they fell in love, and how they both coped with an unknown person terrorizing Miranda. You quickly learn who the small town players are, and discover what a quaint town Wishful can be. This story also involves a domestic abuse storyline, which is handled just right. Another five star winner in my opinion.
Ethan Greer has moved to Wishful where he’s been Chief of Police for three months now. He’s been friends with clay since college which was why he wanted to move to Wishful. After running into Miranda Campbell in a diner he becomes interested in her. But he’s not sure about having a relationship with Miranda considering his last one ended.
I didn't want to put this book down. Always great characters with Kait Nolan and a great story. This had the right amount of everything......a bit of romance, a bit of suspense all amounting to a really great story.
Nolan ups her game with Can't Take My Eyes Off You. This is the next in the Wishful series and is my current favorite.
Chief Greer and Dr. Miranda Campbell are struck by their intense and immediate attraction to one another. They quickly join forces to battle domestic violence and small town policing. The chemistry between them smolders before taking off into a true romance. When Miranda draws the attention of a stalker Ethan will do whatever it takes to keep her safe.
Wishful is a place I enjoy returning to with each addition to this series and I highly recommend a visit with this next in series.
I voluntarily read and reviewed a complementary copy of this book.
This third book in the Wishing for a Hero series still takes place in Wishful, the lovely Southern small town I've fallen in love with, is placed chronologically by the author directly after Watch Over Me, the second book in the WH series. I swear I've enjoyed each book in the WH series better than its predecessor. Anyway, Can't Take My Eyes Off You is a well written and sweet suspenseful romance novel with great characters. I loved seeing Miranda, a secondary character in so many of the WR and WH books finally find her man. Then, as is the case for most of Kait Nolan's books, there is some sex, but it's more natural and less over-the-top than that of many secular romances. So, after reading the first two books of the WH series, I finally determined that the reason why the author separates the Wishing for a Hero (WH) books from the Wishful Romance books is because the WH books contain a large thread of suspense while the WR books don't, and the theme of suspense not only continued but escalated in this novel. Unsurprisingly, I found this novel to be an amazing book and am happily continuing on reading the WH and WR series until there are no more.
As an ARC reader, this is my honest opinion. This is definitely another 5 star read. I love going back to Wishful and reconnecting with everyone. Small towns aren't always sunshine and smiles, maybe a few broken hearts that heal, no...….they too have a wee bit of drama. Ethan and Miranda's story definitely entails some intense drama. The quality of writing was great, never a lull or bumpy transition into the next scene. There isn't any cheating or cliffhanger and these two are on their way to a happy ever after. You're not picking a read based on the cover! Yes the cover is attractive, but often we get caught up in that HOT, ripped, half naked guy, and then sadly the main male character is described nothing like what's pictured. The description to entice you to purchase is well done so I won't repeat it and you won't be sorry to click purchase!!! You too will want to come back to Wishful over and over to revisit and also to see what comes next. Enjoy!
This could have been so much better! It frustrates me because I was interested in the story, but then I realized I was only 30% of the way through and I could not get past how slow-moving things were progressing.
Hmmmm no no no. Boring. Theee was no chemistry, no real romance nor a great story and neither the writing was amazing not the characters. I was forcing my self to continue reading. Doc and Cop and first sight attraction!!! Doesn’t really justify it. Yeah whatever.
A thoroughly good read. It's a remarkable love story with a good dose of sex. It's a mystery to keep you guessing with a good dose of violence thrown in.
Another wonderful visit to the town of Wishful! Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You is the story of Miranda and Ethan. Ethan’s the new sheriff in town, we first met him in the first book in this series, and Miranda is the doctor. Both have moved to Wishful from the Big City—Miranda returning home to her roots, and Ethan, looking to start over. As always with Nolan’s books, the characters are well-drawn and relatable. Ethan and Miranda had a terrific steamy chemistry, and I think they both had strengths that the other person needed. I love going back to Wishful—it’s such a rich universe of characters, and I really enjoy visiting the familiar places and people—but Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You is a standalone story that you will enjoy, even if you’ve never read another of Kait Nolan’s Wishful books…but once you’ve read it, trust me, you’re going to want to read more—and I HIGHLY recommend you do! This one is part of the Wishing for a Hero series, which is a spin off the original Wishful small-town romance series. The Wishing for a Hero books are still romances, but they have a little more action and suspense in them. In this one, Miranda has a stalker—and Ethan’s law-enforcement experience has him jumping into over-protective mode, which is pretty challenging for super independent strong Miranda. This is no shrinking violet! Sparks fly in more ways than one in this story! I really loved this story of two independent adults, each with their own careers, finding their way to each other, and making each other’s lives even better.

Kait Nolan certainly knows how to write strong characters that push and pull each other. Miranda is one of the Campbells of Wishful and Norah's best friend - this means a lot of Norah & Cam check-ins which was a bonus.
Becoming a successful doctor was always her goal but her residency showed her that life in her town was what she wanted. And it certainly keeps her busy - but not too busy to take notice of the new police chief, Ethan Greer. A "city boy", Ethan's an outsider who still feels like he's getting his footing in this small town where most everyone has known each other their entire lives. Most people do seem to accept him, but they are certainly suspicious of the ex-US Marshall suddenly deciding to be a regular cop for such a small town.
Watching Miranda and Ethan dance around each other was amusing - we get glances into each of their pasts that explains plenty of their current mindsets. Miranda is plenty headstrong, but knows when to take it down a notch - Ethan's protective side got in the way a time or two when it clashed with Miranda. All the great makings of a romance! The characters played well off each other and there were plenty of twists that I didn't see coming. The romance was sweet, the fights and fears were realistic, and the drama/action had me wrapped up until the end.
We met so many new characters too - I hope they all get stories of their own eventually. I already can't wait for the next one!

Kait Nolan, you have done it again. You so intricately weave each character into Wishful and as you do, you make ME, the reader wish I were to be your next character, heroine, or just plain next door neighbor in your next novel! Miranda Campbell doesn't seem to have time for anything but her medical clinic and her ER shifts. Fate allows Chief Ethan Greer to become a patient of hers in a rather cute scenario. The Chief also has been burnt in a prior marriage and doesn't seem to have the inclination for a relationship. Interesting how two people of service react to each other, fearful of becoming involved but certainly not scared of the other. Respectful, yes. Ms Dolan writes a script of various scenarios in which it soon becomes clear that Miranda needs the Chief more than she even doesn't know she wants, him yet. The storyline plays on the theme that Wishful is not always as mellow and exciting and "lets have Norah plan everything perfect" life town that it seems in prior novels. It becomes real life danger when several instances warn Miranda the she is the target and yet, ok, does the hero, the Chief come through, and save the day? Or is he delayed from other turns of events? We have seen so much love in the Wishful series... it's good to see reality as well. But please keep up with the love lines of the various members of the community, Ms. Nolan. Perhaps other service members? Firemen, EMT... continuing the storyline of the Chief's buddy who survived...?
There’s nothing better than discovering a book you’ve had on your Want to Read list for a couple of years is on sale...for FREE!!! In the instance of Can’t Take My Eyes Off You, I’ve been wanting to read the hero’s story for almost four years.
Dr. Miranda Campbell moved back to her hometown of Wishful, wanting a slower pace of life after spending several stressful years in a Chicago hospital. She’s enjoying having her own practice and the life she’s building.
Ethan Greer is still settling into his new job as Chief of Police. The former US Marshall sometimes feels out of place in the small, close-knit town, but will trade that for the danger and stress of his former job.
When Miranda and Ethan start dating, it seems like an excellent match. Both have careers that demand a lot from them outside a normal job, but they also each have issues from past relationships. When it seems Miranda is being targeted and bad things keep happening, Ethan has to figure out who has it out for the woman he loves before the situation gets worse.
I’ve read (or listened) to just about the whole Wishful series and The Misfit Inn series, both of which are companions to the Wishing for a Hero series. I love Wishful and the whole gaggle of characters who live there! I’ve enjoyed each of their stories. And I enjoyed this one as well. Yet…
You know how you get in your mind how a story should go or how a character should be? Well, this one didn’t go how I was expecting. This series is supposed to be edgier, more suspense filled. The hero is a former US marshal and is now the police chief (so I’m thinking...manly and gruff, kinda badass, protective, etc). So to have him be all "sensitive musician" took things in a weird direction for me. Then again, I’m not sure why it surprised me..it seems everyone in this town sings, or dances, or plays an instrument...
But the one big issue I’ve had with a majority of the conflicts in Ms. Nolan’s books are the inevitable miscommunications that plague the couples. So I was really happy to see that THIS TIME the big problem was a result of the baggage MIranda and Ethan carried from their pasts. And this book really did live up to its place in this series by being suspenseful and intense at the end.
There are still several books by Ms. Nolan that I haven’t read. I fully intend to get to them all. Eventually.
In order to review this book, I have to tell a little story. Way back when, when Kat was Little Kat, and quite young, she would read Harlequin Romances. At the end, just about when the hero said I love you, Little Kat would get the shivers and tears would form in her eyes. Her mother thought it was just because she was a teenager. Nope. Mom had it wrong.
I got to the end of this book, having been pulled into this story 100%, was totally satisfied with how Ethan and Miranda had saved their love, and what happens? I start on the Epilogue, and the shivers started (just a rush) and the tears sprang to my eyes. That told me that Kait Nolan hit a Grand Slam with this book. This rarely happens that I will be so into a book that the end can get to me.
The plot to this book was done with a fine hand. The book drew other characters, some we'd met in other Wishful books, and some we hadn't. But those characters just weren't added, they were blended in so well that it was like having the gang over for pizza and beer. You just expected them to be there and were happy that they had shown up.
If I could give this more stars than five, I would. But instead, I'll say that this particular series of books, about the heroes of Wishful is well worth whatever the author charges. In fact, I don't think she's charging enough for this wonderful, romantic, suspenseful series.
Miranda Campbell is the doctor of Wishful and works all the time. Miranda is telling off some women she went to school with who are malicious gossips while eating at the diner, she turns around and runs into the solid chest of Chief of Police Ethan Greer. She apologizes and goes back to her table. Once she leaves, she finds someone has scratched degrading words in her Jeep so she goes back into the diner to get the Chief. The Chief comes out to take picture and promises he will look into it. Miranda is a fire cracker that lets her temper take over at times, but also sticks up for what she believes in. Miranda and the Chief are both single and start seeing each other.
Someone starts doing malicious things to Miranda and the Chief is determined to find out who. He has to look at everything such as someone she made mad (which there are a couple of people), someone who is jealous of his relationship with Miranda, someone on drugs, or something else. The two also have past baggage they must let go. There are some sweet scenes between the two. I loved the book as there is action, suspense, strong willed people, laughter and love. I strongly encourage you to read the book. I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader’s Copy of this book.
Back to Wishful once again. I love this small town! This is the third book in Kait Nolan's Wishing for a Hero series. Ethan Greer is the new police chief, a former Texas Ranger. He's still trying to settle in and earn the respect of the small town of Wishful. He relocated from Dallas after being critically wounded and his wife divorcing him. He chooses Wishful because his best friend, Clay, lives there. Miranda Campbell grew up in Wishful, moved to Chicago for medical school and residency. Now she's moved back and opened up her own clinic. She's compassionate and goes the extra mile to help her patients. She hasn't dated since returning because she's working long hours and no one interests her. Until now. Bumping into the Chief of Police at The Dinner Belle makes them both aware of the chemistry and attraction between them. As they start exploring their relationship, it becomes clear that someone is harassing Miranda. She doesn't understand who could be doing this or why. Ethan has his suspicions. But Miranda doesn't agree. Can they figure out what's happening, why and more importantly, who before someone really gets hurt?

**Spoilers** Can't Take My Eyes Off of You is the second full length novel in the Wishing for a Hero series by Kait Nolan. As such, it has an added layer of suspense to the traditional small town romance. Ethan is the new to town police chief and Miranda is the town's resident doctor. It was interesting seeing the male lead being new to town, as I believe it is one of the books that Kait as written which as this characteristic. As far as Ethan and Miranda's relationship goes, they appear to be on even footing, although their interactions did have an uncharacteristically brusque quality to them, I haven't yet decided whether it was refreshing or off putting. I do think that the romance was a little shorted by having the suspense aspect of the book, and it did not have the added benefit of being built up over time that Autumn and Judd enjoyed. Also, all of the Wishing for a Hero stories have similar climactic scenes, with the heroine being kidnapped, causing the novel to seem formulaic at times. Overall, it was a sweet story that add elements of the small town vibe and action thriller, and definitely was emotional, succeeding at being a tearjerker.

We are back in Wishful and this time the story belongs to Ethan Greer and Miranda Campbell. Ethan is a former US Marshal and current Police Chief of Wishful. Miranda is a doctor , back home after working in the ER of a Chicago hospital. Both are looking for a fresh start in their lives , giving back to the community and having a life with less stress and less violence. These two are strong characters. Both have been hurt before and had no desire to get into a serious relationship, but fate has a different agenda. When Miranda is being targeted by an unknown person, Ethan is determined to keep her safe. Especially when the threats get more dangerous. I enjoyed that the author gave us individuals that were strong . Also, that the author touches the devastations domestic abuse can cause not only to the one abused, but also to the rest of the family. Especially the children. Once again, Ms Nolan gives us an engaging story , with a complex plot and interesting characters. Looking forward to more stories in this series. I voluntarily read this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

Can't Take My Eyes Off You is book 3 in the Wishing for a Hero series by Kait and as always it's well written, suspenseful, laughter, great character and finding love!
Miranda, a doctor who decides to come back home to Wishful to start her own practice seems to have rose colored glasses for her hometown because nothing bad ever happens in town like all the stuff she saw in the big city. Until she decides to tell off a former high school classmate and then small things start happening and soon escalates to more than vandalism.
Ethan a former US Marshall and now Wishful's new police chief and wants to prove that he's ready for small town life. When he meets Miranda the sparks fly but they have differences of opinion when it comes to seeing the good in people. When things start happening to Miranda his spidey senses pick up that things will escalate and he needs to keep her safe but can he do that and keep his heart locked up?
Love his small town!! The more you read about Wishful the more you want to go there...
Trigger warning - domestic abuse, you read about the aftermath, not the actual beatings.
I knew one part was going to play out and it did, but it ended better than I thought. The connection was just okay between the MCs. Lovemaking, outside of marriage - heat level 3+ out of 5.
You will not know who the villain is until the end. The author puts clues for other people to suspect, but parts were surprising.
Story has suspense, violence, twists, intrigue and some romance. I wanted to know what happened to Johnny and some of the other suspects, in the end.
No cheating, no cliffhanger, HEA, some steam, crude words used and the Lord's name in vain. Standalone story with crossover characters. Story ended at 87% on my e-reader. If you want the extended bonus, you must download which you sign up for this author's newsletter. I dislike doing this but always do. This was a VERY short bonus, but was sweet.
I can't improve on the blurb, just giving you extra tidbits to decide whether to purchase. I do recommend this story and author. (ljb)
Kait Nolan is my favorite Romance Author!! In “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” she has stepped it up a notch, and seamlessly woven Thriller level Suspense into her story. Suspense creeps in quietly in the opening pages, and when it kicks in full throttle this story becomes a don’t-interrupt-me-no-matter-what Page Turner! And there’s more! Plenty of steamy romance that cements the hot chemistry between the Police Chief and the Town Doctor, Ethan and Miranda. I love Kait’ Small Town setting for her stories. Although this is a standalone novel, you get to enjoy the townsfolk from previous books in the series and know you’ll be seeing them again in future stories. Delightfully, it’s never obvious which characters will the H/h of the next book; it’s always a delicious surprise to discover whose story is next. Great Read!

Can't Take My Eyes Off You is another fabulous visit to Wishful and a chance to catch up with some old friends. When local Doctor Miranda and Police chief Ethan crossed paths at the diner the attraction was instant but both had very busy lives and their romance was very slow to start. This is so much more than a small town romance but you will have to read it to find out why. Kait Nolan is an amazing author with the skill to create characters and places that become real and make you feel as if you know them well. Although this book is part of the Wishful Heroes series it is also a perfect stand-alone romantic suspense and can be enjoyed with out reading any of the other books. However I recommend you do read the others .. in any order as they are simply wonderful. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and cannot recommend it highly enough. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I've been waiting for Norah's best friend to find love, and I have to say she's more than a match for former-US Marshall Ethan Greer. While their inner issues were handled well, I felt the suspense/mystery aspect of this novel fell short of the first installment. It was clear to me from the first scene who the bad guy was and even though he seemed to gain alibis there was no other possibility introduced. That flaw aside, the romance was HOT and I was happy to see Miranda stay true to her strong, confident self. There was no "just talk to each other" moments for me in this book. These characters acted like the mature adults they were. That didn't remove the tension or the conflict, and I was more than satisfied with the ending. The only problem? I'll have to wait months to visit Wishful again. I received a free advanced copy from Booksprout and have voluntarily chosen to leave a review.
Wow what a read this book was, I was totally engrossed in this story and the wonderful characters. This has a suspenseful storyline revolving around the great little town of wishful. I am enjoying this new series that co-insides with the Wishful series. Who does not love a hero and in this book Former US Marshal Ethan Greer and the new Chief of Police of Wishful will fit the bill quite well. In this series Kait Nolan gives us more suspense, drama, and most of all a hero and heroine to completely lose yourself in their story. I received an ARC copy of this book and this is my voluntary and honest review of it. I have been waiting to read Dr Miranda Campbell story as we have read about her in many of the Wishful romance books and have a learned a bit about her personality. We had also met Chief of police Ethan Greer as he is just recently new in town and his job.
I just loved this book as I do almost everything Kait Nolan writes; especially in regards to Wishful. I especially loved this book. I was so engrossed in it that when I finished the book I looked at the clock and it was 1 o'clock in the morning and I would soon be getting up at 5:15 to go to work. But this edition was so good. I enjoyed Ethan and Miranda very much. Also what I like most about all the books that this author writes that revolve around Wishful is the revisiting characters from previous books such as Mama Pearl, Cam and Norah, along with the rest of the Campbell family, etc. There were many parts of this book that were so good I found myself going back and rereading many parts of it. I like that the characters are strong yet vulnerable.
If its a Kait Nolan book, I have to read it; because I know its going to be good.
