For six years, Nathan’s done everything he can to avoid them. But a persistent ghost, Alan, haunts Nathan every chance he gets until Nathan reluctantly agrees to reunite him with his fiancé for a chance to find peace.
A turn of fate and a stolen CD brings Erik into Nathan’s life. Erik is everything Nathan believes he doesn’t deserve. But Erik is Alan’s lost love. Now he must untangle the threads of Alan’s death while hoping to keep the newfound love of his life.
Will Nathan decide to expose his supernatural burden, or let Alan wander without rest forever? Love and trust hang in the balance as Nathan confronts the ghosts of his past and the man who threatens to shatter the wall guarding his heart.
Paralyzed is a stand alone gay romance with two best friends who support each other through thick and thin, a snarky spirit who won't take no for an answer, and a dark-haired gentle hearted man who is just as stubborn as the main character.

J.R. Loveless began her adventure in writing romance at the young age of twelve. Her foray into creating her own worlds and telling her characters’ life stories was triggered by her own love of reading. She currently resides in South Florida with her dog and two cats, volunteers for an animal rescue in her spare time, and works as a manager for a financial lending institute. Her journey into gay romance began in 2005 when she began posting her original fiction on a forum for feedback and readers’ pleasure. In 2010, a good friend urged her to submit to a publishing company, and the day she received the acceptance and contract was the best day of her life. Since then, she has been noted to be one of the most purchased audio books after Fifty Shades of Grey on Audiobook.com, received best gay romantic fiction for Touch Me Gently in the 2011 TLA Gaybies, and even received an award for Chasing Seth in 2012.

Can we just all repeat? No is a complete sentence. If you are someone who likes super pushy love interests who sort of bulldoze into people’s lives, this is the book for you. If you’re like me, it’s not. Even though I understood that Nathan had so many problems and needed help from his community and they were being pushy because they loved him, there were so many times when I just wanted people to back off and respect his boundaries. Especially Alan he was the worst for disrespecting boundaries and I was losing my mind - getting so angry on Nathan’s behalf. The love interest Erik just seemed kind of creepy somehow and I didn’t like him and I found he was really just bulldozing over a lot of their issues and again not respecting boundaries the way I would like them to be. This book triggered a lot more than I expected so it was not for me.
Wow! This was so good! Nathan can see ghosts but has learned to ignore them. Unfortunately every once in a while a spirit will demand Nathan help them to move on. He meets the ghost Alan who can't move on because he feels there is something important he must tell his fiance. It turns out the fiance is someone Nathan recently met. Erik lost Alan to an automobile accident two years ago. He meets Nathan and for the first time in a long time feels like he is ready to move on. As Nathan (with the help of his best friend Troy) helps Alan figure out what he needs to tell Erik, Nathan and Erik start spending time together. This was a bit of an emotional journey as Nathan struggles with his growing feelings for Erik, not helping Alan move on fast enough, and survivors guilt from the accident that gave him his ghost seeing ability. The plot definitely had a few twists and turns I wasn't expecting. I thought the intensity that Nathan could feel the different ghost's emotions was unique. I loved Troy and his loyalty to Nathan.
Such a great story. Nathan almost died but ended up with the ability to see ghosts. Alan can’t believe Nathan can see him and this starts Nathan down the path of finding love. This story was classic hurt/comfort. The characters were so realistic that you felt like a part of the story. Loved this book.
I absolutely loved this story!!! I simultaneously wanted to rush through it to see how it ends and never wanted it to end!
Nathan and Erik’s path to each other is weighed down by so much guilt, sadness, and a feeling of not deserving on Nathan’s part. He has so much to struggle against to feel worthy of Erik. Erik is so patient and loving with him; never allowing Nathan to spiral out of Erik’s life.
I’ve read other stories with ghosts serving as a catalyst for a romance, but this one absolutely is the best of that genre.
Love, love, love Troy, Nathan’s best friend, and how he has stood by Nathan his whole life-especially after the accident the began Nathan’s spiral. I also loved Alan, the ghost.
The only thing I would change, if I could, would for this story to be a dual POV. I would have loved to have read things from Erik’s POV.
Other than that, this is an absolutely perfect story. I have a folder on my Kindle titled “AbFabs” that I read over and over, and this story will absolutely be in that folder!!! Hats off and respect to the author!
This is impressively bad. The concept is fun (hence the second star), but every part of the execution is terrible, particularly the dialogue. It's so awkward and stilted, almost like an AI chatbot trying to sound human. Having Nate lose his ability at the end was such a cop out, the whole story is about him accepting himself and realizing he can help people, but instead it just "reverses" and there you go. That negates the tiny bit of character development that did actually happen. Also Erik is kind of a creepy dude, he's so pushy and insists he knows better after meeting someone a few weeks earlier. Don't read this, please.
This mega talented author has given a standard storyline an original, fresh, and definitely different twist. This fantastic, bittersweet, grabs-you-by-the-heartstrings, emotionally charged, simmering, beautiful, gripping, and totally awesome book pulled me in from the very first page, and I would DEFINITELY recommend getting this gem ASAP!!!!
Nathan and Erik meet under unusual circumstances and their connection is basically instant. The two become close quickly and the sparks between them burn hot. This mystery PNR read is intense, emotional and full of suspense. If you like a good mystery with you smut, this is for you!
Nate has had a rough life since the accident that claimed his parents and almost himself. Now he can see and communicate with ghosts. No, he's not insane. Eric was a chance encounter that he found so attractive until he found out that's who is current ghost needs to talk to... This is a fantastic read of overcoming pain and hurt and finding a happily ever after.
The idea behind this book was interesting, but the execution wasn't great.
Throughout the book, I didn't really feel like the characters' actions and decisions were believable. There was way to much oversharing and interference in the relationship. I frequently thought Nathan's friends' actions were really inappropriate.
I would have enjoyed more exploration of the grief/disability/mental health issues.
I’m not usually one for paranormal stories but I really enjoyed this one. I mean, how awesome would it be if you can speak to ghosts and whatnot?? This isn’t a small book but I really devoured it! I can’t wait to read more from this author!
Fun concept. Terrible execution. Everyone was so pushy but also Nathan was so whiny. Idk I know he was grieving and the grieving parts were really interesting but after awhile everyone just annoyed me. And it took way too long to get to the point.
