Rosie Harlow is desperately seeking… well, she’s not sure. A romance would be nice but so would a dinner conversation with her pre-teen son. Too bad her boy is way too busy growing up to pay his mama any attention. Rosie never meant to swear off men and she’s not frigid—you don’t become a single mom at fifteen by being frigid—but this dry spell of hers has gotten out of hand and something must be done.
Enter Amon Parrish. Back in high school Amon was voted most likely to get caught with his pants down. He was a trouble maker. The quintessential bad boy. But twelve years away from home, traveling the world and working with Collin Creed doing super-secret (and somewhat illegal) things, changed all that. These days Amon Parrish is a brand-new, stand-up man.
And, to Rosie’s surprise, a romantic man as well. Because he has decided to court her. And this is not just any ordinary courting, either. It’s… well, a page ripped right out of a bodice ripper.
But everyone in Disciple, West Virginia has a secret in their past.
Even the cheerful, perpetually optimistic, and seemingly innocent, Rosie Harlow.
The Echo on the Water is a swooning plate of small-town fiction served up with a side of spice. It honors the themes of friends to lovers, found family, and is filled with bigger-than-life, morally-grey characters against a backdrop of the weird and wonderful.
INSIDE THE PAGES YOU WILL Small Town Secrets Charming Alpha Male Friends to Lovers Touch Her and Die Morally Grey Found Family
J.A. Huss never wanted to be a writer and she still dreams of that elusive career as an astronaut. She originally went to school to become an equine veterinarian but soon figured out they keep horrible hours and decided to go to grad school instead. That Ph.D wasn’t all it was cracked up to be (and she really sucked at the whole scientist thing), so she dropped out and got a M.S. in forensic toxicology just to get the whole thing over with as soon as possible.
After graduation she got a job with the state of Colorado as their one and only hog farm inspector and spent her days wandering the Eastern Plains shooting the shit with farmers. After a few years of that, she got bored. And since she was a homeschool mom and actually does love science, she decided to write science textbooks and make online classes for other homeschool moms. She wrote more than two hundred of those workbooks and was the number one publisher at the online homeschool store many times, but eventually she covered every science topic she could think of and ran out of shit to say.
So in 2012 she decided to write fiction instead. That year she released her first three books and started a career that would make her a New York Times bestseller and land her on the USA Today Bestseller’s List eighteen times in the next three years. Her books have sold millions of copies all over the world, the audio version of her semi-autobiographical book, Eighteen, was nominated for a Voice Arts Award and an Audie award in 2016 and 2017 respectively, her audiobook Mr. Perfect was nominated for a Voice Arts Award in 2017, and her book, Taking Turns, was nominated for an Audie Award in 2018. Johnathan McClain is her first (and only) writing partner and even though they are worlds apart in just about every way imaginable, it works.
She lives on a ranch in Central Colorado with her family.
I'm not sure how this book has such high reviews and not a negative thing said about it.
First of all, as well as the previous book in the story, a whole lot of nothing but scene setting happens until the last 25% of the book. It almost feels like the author couldn't decide what type of story to tell so while the first 75% is romance, the last 25% is conspiracy theory thriller? Because the "thriller" part of it is so condensed it's a) hard to follow because you're like "wait, how did we get here?" It all feels rushed at the end like she forgot she wanted this to be a thriller and ran out of time to put those details in and b) completely unbelievable because like how did we go from costume dates to an underground city?
Rosie and Amon's love story, while cute and could be authentic, it comes across anything but. It seems like Amon just wanted to settle down and have a wife and make "asshole kids" and Rosie was who was available. Their entire love story, where they go from just bumping into each other casually to verbalizing they will marry each other in the span of TWO WEEKS is crazy to me. Maybe that's just how dating goes in Appalachia?
If Rosie has a stalker, who had literally just broken into her house the day before, there's no chance she would let Amon take her on a surprise getaway that's 2 hours away from your son. And then barely a thought passes of him ALL DAY when you're in your in your fake little wedding? It just seemed like the author was reaching for a hole to fit the conflict in.
Cross gets approached by his dad he has had ZERO knowledge of for 12 years and boom just like that he's Daddy and you want to give up your mom and entire life to be trapped underground for the rest of your life just because you get a gun? When clearly your mom is shacking up with your idol and you'd be exposed to the exciting life you wanted anyway? Just another nonsensical reach by the author.
Lastly, during the main climax of the book, I really don't get the whole "town of Disciple vs the US government" and having everyone at the compound. Like it just didn't make sense? Why were they there? What was the point of literally all of that.
Oh one more annoying thing, why make Erol aka Sawyer the inspector? That's a twist for the sake of a twist that meant nothing to the story. Collin and Amon's theory is that Charlie planted them there to use them to find out information about the mine/ blackberry hill (which is ultimately the same thing) but yet is working with someone from blackberry hill? Why would "Sawyer" keep going up to the mine (and, by proxy, put Colin and Amon onto the mine) to investigate it when he KNOWS it's connected to blackberry hill?
I originally gave this two stars, but as I wrote this review I realized there's just no redeeming qualities to it. I didn't care for the first book either but don't like to not finish series. This book was the nail on the coffin for me, I will certainly not be reading the third book.

It was so good to be back in Trinity County. This book follows Rosie Harlow, who is a single mother, raising her twelve-year-old son in Disciple, and Amon, who has returned to Disciple after being away for twelve years to start up Edge Security with Collin, Nash, and Ryan.
After getting pregnant at the age of sixteen and being abandoned by her boyfriend, who disappeared without a word just a week before she was due, Rosie had to grow up at a very young age and had to fight for her and her son's place in the county. She is content with where her life is, but all that changes when she starts getting letters with weird puzzles that seem to hint at something from her past, and this person seems hellbent on getting her attention.
Rosie was a delightful character, and I loved how headstrong, dedicated, and authentic she was. Even if she liked playing dress up in the three towns, actually, especially because of it. It showed that she was true to herself and took the time to do the things that brought her joy, and she was absolutely unapologetic about it.
Amon is finally settling in Disciple after being away for twelve years. His focus is now on Edge Security, and part of that is his project of training dogs for the squad. After traveling the world for missions for over a decade and seeing the things he'd seen, he finds himself feeling glad about his return to his town and starts considering settling down and starting a family of his own.
Watching Amon court Rosie and doing such thoughtful things to make her feel, special, cherished and celebrated like she deserved made me fan myself just like Rosie. Amon is just so goddamn swoon-worthy that his actions made me let out a long, contented sigh and then pout because why can't this man be real. He was all in right from the start and made it so clear with his words and his actions.
After always being the filler/side character in the revival her whole life, watching her turn into the main character was so wonderful and this was made possible by Amon who wanted her to have her moment, knowing how much she enjoyed it all and wanting to show her off to the town which was adorable.
The spice was honestly so good. Watching Amon undress the many many layers of Rosie's costume in her cottage was just so hot. I also liked how Amon slowly eased into the dirty talking not knowing if Rosie might like it at first.
With book 1, we got a gist of the three towns and were introduced to Blueberry Hill and some speculations regarding it. This book delves deeper into Blueberry Hill territory towards the end and we find more revelations that leave us with even more questions. I really loved the idea of the underground tunnels being used as a military base which gets you curious to find out just what is going on.
Collin Creed is truly something else and we are slowly getting more feelers about just how dangerous he can be. Watching Collin, Amon, Ryan and Nash flex their power and getting the government to agree to their terms was honestly so satisfying and I was grinning like an idiot.
I do wish that once the situation with Cross had settled, Rosie and Cross would've had a more in depth and a much needed conversation about his father and all that their present situation entails.
Book two in JA Huss's newest series and again I was sucked in straight off. This is Rosie and Amons story, both of who we meet in book one although we see more of Rosie - and she is one cool lady. She had her son at only 15 years old and although there were plenty who would've either moved away in shame and his or give the child up for adoption, Rosie done neither of those. Instead she became one of the most loving and dedicated mothers you'll ever read about, as well as being a genuine adorable fun person with a heart of gold. She lives for her son and is such a good soul that she deserves all the happiness. In steps Amon, who is one mighty fine man! He's been away for 12years with Colin from book one but he knows when he sees Rosie that she is his one.
These two belong together, I love that there's no questioning or second guessing. They know they are each others one, however that doesn't mean it's going to be a straightforward relationship!!
Cue the twists and turns alongside some angst!!
A delightful story and I'm already addicted to this world!!
Title: The Echo on the Water Author: J.A. Huss Series: Sacred Trinity #2
What to expect: *Friends to Lovers *Small town secrets *Morally grey found family
Pros: I loved this book and couple! They went to high school together but were not a couple since the MMC was several years older than the FMC. Once the MMC is back in town he immediately makes it known that he wants to “court” the FMC and sets out to do just that. They were so good for each other!!
Cons: Some people may not enjoy this particular series if they are religious, these books definitely pull back the curtain on how some church’s are all about theatrics and not the religion itself.
Safety: No OW/OM drama for the relationship, some drama with the ex wanting to see the FMC’s child. No third act breakup.
Let’s be real you’re always nervous when starting a second book in a series when the first book knocked you off your damn feet. But this one is just as good, the audiobook narrators are top-notch, the love story is just beautiful, Rosie is just adorable, and the government is just shady. I love that get deeper into the subplot of conspiracy theory, but also how seamlessly it moves with the romance story. And I am positively foaming at the mouth for the next book. Five stars all around.
Format: Audiobook Narrators: Teddy Hamilton & Stella Hunter
I have been looking forward to this audiobook, and let me tell you—Teddy Hamilton’s voice is audio porn. That man could narrate my grocery list, and I’d still be entranced. Add the single mom trope to the mix? Kryptonite.
This book had everything I love—a reformed bad boy MMC, a strong FMC, slow-burn romance with an old-school courting vibe, small-town secrets, suspense, and plot twists that had me yelling at my audiobook.
What I Loved:
✔️ Amon Parrish – A man who has four younger sisters and knows how to treat a woman? SOLD. And to make it even better? Rosie has four older brothers. The symmetry. The perfection.
✔️ The Courting – Amon was determined to win Rosie over, and I was swooning. This man was all in from the beginning.
✔️ “Should I ask again? Or should I move on?” “If I say move on, will you truly move on? Or will you try again?” His smile grows. “Try again.”
✔️The longing, the fantasies, the way Amon saw forever with Rosie – "I’m gonna marry Rosie Harlow and then we’re gonna settle down and have ourselves a bunch of asshole kids. Well, with Rosie as their mother, they won’t be assholes like I was. They’ll be good, like Cross." 😭 STOP IT, I’M EMOTIONAL.
✔️The tension and suspense – The letters, the stalking, the fear that Amon was behind it all… and then the massive plot twist that shook me to my core.
✔️ The fake wedding that wasn’t so fake – I LOVE this trope, and their biker-and-waitress act was so damn hot.
✔️ Amon stepping up for both Rosie and Cross – He wanted forever with her, and I was here for it. He even made an effort with Cross, showing up to take Rosie’s shift so she’d have time to spend with him.
✔️“Desperately seeking you, Rosie Harlow.” Then I kiss her. Screaming. Crying. Throwing up.
What I Didn’t Love:
❌ Rosie’s hesitation when she found out the letters were from Erol – Girl, this man left you at 15, and you’re STILL holding out hope? Amon is right there, wanting to build a life with you.
❌ Cross being ungrateful AF – His mom raised him alone, and the second his dad swoops in, he’s ready to leave her for a secret military compound? Excuse me??
❌ The cliffhanger-esque ending – I know there’s more to come, but I need the next book NOW. I think it’s going to be Rigger and Clover, and I’m already invested.
Plot Twists That Had Me Gasping:
⚠️ Erol was NOT dead. The secret military compound at Blackberry Hill had been keeping him prisoner for 12 years. Rosie thought he abandoned her, but he never had a choice.
⚠️ Cross was kidnapped—but went willingly. He chose to go with his dad, and Rosie had to make the impossible decision of letting him go while still planning to fight for him.
⚠️ The underground base, the blackmail, the drone footage—pure genius. Rosie and Amon turned the tables and got their son back, but the fact that Cross wasn’t exactly grateful? Infuriating.
⚠️ WTF was that about Amon’s drinks?! "And we keep you alive, don’t we? Every Monday you get that little cooler of fruit drinks, don’t ya? You’re gonna get one today, in fact. We do that for you, Amon. Us. The bad guys. We keep you alive with those drinks.” WHAT DOES THIS MEAN? Did I miss something in the previous book??
Final Thoughts:
This book had me on a rollercoaster of emotions. The romance was perfect, the suspense was gripping, and the plot twists were mind-blowing. Amon Parrish has my heart, and I loved how Rosie stood her ground, refused to be manipulated, and chose her own future.
I NEED the next book ASAP. Rigger and Clover, I’m coming for you.

"The Echo on the Water" is the second installment in the Sacred Trinity series, focusing on the story of Rosie Harlow and Amon Parrish. Rosie is a single mother raising her twelve-year-old son, Cross. Amon escaped the small-town life of Disciple and Trinity County twelve years ago when he joined the Marines with Collin Creed.
Rosie had plans with Cross's father before he deserted her when she was a pregnant teen. Now, Amon has entered the picture, and Rosie is unsure of his intentions. Given Amon's reputation as a high school player, Rosie questions whether he is genuinely serious about her or wants another notch on his belt.
I love the way Amon courts Rosie. He understands her and what she needs. Amon touches my heart like no other male character in a long time, if I am honest with myself. He loves and trains dogs, for goodness' sake. I couldn't wish for anyone better.
Of course, it would only be a JA Huss story if there was more going on than a typical romance. The Echo on the Water continues the suspense around the black ops and conspiracy theme that began in "The Rumble and The Glory" with Edge Security. The series and this book are lush with secrets and mysteries swirling around the characters and Trinity County. The layers of conspiracy and hidden identities add to the tension, making it a gripping read, and quite frankly it has my stomach doing somersaults and me biting my nails.
I know I say this every time I listen to one of Julie's books, but she does an excellent job selecting narrators for her stories. The dual narration by Ava Erickson and Teddy Hamilton makes this exciting story a million times better. They increase the anxiety and joy the reader experiences, and their excellent voice acting brings the characters to life. I can't wait for the next book in the series.
I highly recommend the Sacred Trinity series to romantic suspense lovers. For optimum enjoyment, you must read the series in order for the story arc to make sense. Fortunately, JA Huss has the first three books ready to devour with very little wait time.
I swear if it is not an RH book by Huss I Love it. I enjoy all the books she writes. She makes me want to like RH books though lol. I for some reason thought these were RH they are not. So glad I had the first one tucked away just in case. Hate the fact I waited so long. It has romance, laughter, spice and a bit of "danger" plot is good keeps you guessing on that background plot danger. As I stated in most of my reviews I do both ebook And audio. I read while listening that way if I do have to do a chore I can still keep going. I hate stopping. I love her audio's, duets are the best. Huss has a great mind. She can write just about everything. So many different ways it's amazing. And that includes her RH books. I have listened to those as well. Just because I am not a fan of that trope does not mean I have not read it and well she does that well. It can be a Thruple or more she does it good. I know if I was in the mood for that I know exactly where to go. Quickly becoming one of my more favored authors. Whilst I impatiently wait for my top favorite author Amelia Hutchins to release another I have had a long road to finding some others to fill my time. I read and listen to way to many books and am bored with my favorite genre. Feels like the same stuff being written over and over with different names and spin on same ol story. 350-400 books a year tends to do that. I get sad when I think I need to take a break. But JA Huss has given me hope. I am rambling but definitely enjoy this series. I currently Need to go to bed but want to start the next 😒 also don't want to be done that fast either. My prescription for getting out of my head. It's ugly in there.
I truly am enjoying this lighter side to JA Huss with The Echo on the Water featuring Amon Parrish and Rosie Harlow and their very unexpected romance. These two are perfect for one another as Amon enjoys Rosie's quirky ways and has a special bond with her son Cross. It was adorable to watch Amon do whatever it might take, even with backlash and good-natured ribbing from his business partners and members of Edge Security, to win Rosie's heart. That part of the book was truly sweet and allowed Rosie to finally find herself after hiding somewhat from the real world for far too long. And getting perhaps too involved with the weekly Revival. Her town of Disciple along with the other two towns of Revenant and Bishop are quite the trinity as more falls into place wrt to dirty dealings literally right under the residents' feet. A very interesting component to this ongoing series.
The burgeoning love story between Amon and Rosie clearly has center stage but with the appearance of a mysterious government employee to 'look over' Edge's property together with the sudden reappearance of someone from Rosie's past, plenty of intrigue is offered up to keep the book a true Huss work of fiction. Puzzle pieces keep lining up for what I'm sure will be the ultimate showdown of sorts as all the mystery of this trinity of communities is finally laid bare.
In the meantime, however, I am loving these characters and the bond they all have with one another, always protecting what's theirs no matter the consequence. I look forward to the next book and all that will be uncovered while two people will undoubtedly fall in love when they least expect it.
This Sacred Trinity series is quickly becoming one of my favorite series from JA Huss! I am absolutely in love with these towns in West Virginia, with the characters, with the whole storyline. Especially Rosie and Amon - they really are some of my favorite characters that have come out of the Huss universe.
Rosie and Amon's story really resonated with me. She's a single mom to a twelve-year-old boy. I was a single mom for a lot of years, so I understand all the worries and fears Rosie has when it comes to raising a boy on her own. She's got a whole family around her, which is good, and the whole town of Disciple, but there's just something about a boy needing their dad in their lives. And Cross's dad disappeared just weeks before he was born, and Rosie never knew what happened to him. But Amon is back in town now after being gone all those years, and he's got his sights set on Rosie, and what better person to act as a father figure to Cross than an ex-marine turned dog loving security expert?
Julie is the queen of weaving the complex story that is going along seamlessly, and them bam! Revelations are revealed, intense drama ensues, and my mind is totally blown at what all happens. There is obviously way more than meets the eye in Trinity County, and as each book rolls out, we learn a little more about the complex and intricate web that has been woven for generations in these towns where make believe is a huge business.
Hang on to your hats while you're reading Rosie and Amon's story, things are getting very interesting! I can't wait to see what's up next in Trinity County!
Book one, The Rumble and the Glory introduced us to the Trinity County area in West Virginia where our main characters reside and work in three towns each with distinct personalities. Well, I fell in love with Disciple, West Virginia and its quaint Revivals and would love to experience it IRL.
Now in book two, The Echo on the Water I've fallen in love with the fmc's life! Whether she's wearing Scarlett O'hara style dresses while writing and printing a 'Desperately Seeking Someone' newsletter, a pink waitress uniform like Flo at Mel's Diner, or cut-offs and a 1970s style halter top and clogs Rosie Harlow is living a full life. And wouldn't you know it, but Amon Parrish is the perfect man for her no matter what "life" she's living. Actually, Amon Parrish is IMO just THE perfect man!
Now this being a series by JA Huss we all should be expecting an underlying current of "everything is not what it seems." And we're not going to be disappointed because Rosie Harlow and Amon Parrish's story uncovers more of the mystery of Blackberry Hill that we were introduced to in TRATG. It's a shocker and I'm looking forward to more being revealed in the next book, The Comfort and the Brave which is currently on JA Huss's Patreon page.
I highly recommend The Rumble and The Glory and The Echo on the Water. I love the world Huss has created including the characters and the storylines! Absolutely amazing!
Big on atmosphere and world building, it is easy to get lost in the world of the Echo on the Water.
The heroine, Rosie is delightful and charming. She seems sweet and naive even though she is not an innocent. Amon, the hero of this story, is manly, yet growing up with four sisters has a soft, romantic side as well. His military/mercenary prowess comes in question often by the Edge Security financier and government bureaucrat, Charlie. I don’t know how to reconcile that with his stated badass background, but I love the voice that author J.A. Huss has given Amon.
There are multiple references to government-issued drinks and Revival story lines that were left hanging. There was plenty of suspicious behavior leading up to the conflict, but the climax of that conflict sort of fizzled as it was very easily resolved. I would have liked a little more development of the antagonist.
I liked Amon and Rosie's journey in this sweet-with-a-little-heat story, but overall, it didn’t have as strong of a suspense/thriller aspect as that of the author’s previous books.
I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. For more reading recommendations, visit Book Junkie Reviews at www.abookjunkiereviews.wordpress.com
this story started out a little slower than book 1 and Amon's character was definitely more light hearted and suited to this trinity. I found it hard to think of him in Creeds category when it came to their past life. however I did get hints of him in book 1. j.a. huss had literal licence to go anywhere with this second story. she has created a world of old world charm, 70s retro, bad boy bikers, and threw in a sinister bit of political espionage. The latter keeps the book moving as I kept wondering what it was all about, and even though I learned some more, I didn't learn all, hence book 3. There wasn't a huge climactic ending like in Creeds story but instead a subtle shift in the towns thinking, the h's ideals, and most of all the set up for a showdown. (in my opinion anyway.) I mean, there has to be some sort of closure. there were a couple of twists that opened up other avenues for thought as Rosie floated through her life in this world she created, inside an other worldly place. The pace of the story was, for me, listened to at an easy jog. no rush or realisations, just the feeling of easy living and peace, until it wasn't. Teddy, always brilliant with his narrating and Ava, simply wonderful
That's West Virginia. If you haven't listened to John Denver's song, you gotta know West Virginia. Okay so there is resort here in WV, the Greenbriar. In 1992, only by chance, an under ground bunker that had been a government secret for over 30 years, was found. The bunker was suppose to be used by the Washington's mucky-mucks in case of an attack, whether nuclear or what. So, when it was accidentally revealed of its existence by a Washington Post reporter, it wasn't a secret any more. Are there more elaborate types of bunkers, caves, mines or tunnels in the hills of WV? Blackberry Hill in book 1 was giving a very elite and mysterious town, commune, military secret posts. So hush hush that if you found out, "they" would have to kill you. Except Ike wasn't playing with just any small badass company of men but the Edge, run by Collin, Amon, Nash and Ryan. I think Mulder and Scully had ventured into some of these tunnels, a time or two. Throughout book 2, Amon and Rosie fell in love. Getting married. If Amon has his way, Cross isn't going to be the only child Rosie has. On to book 3, and something completely different.
🎧 Dived blind into book one, obviously I liked it, so now taking my time with the second one. Amon sounded in my head in book one exactly like Teddy Hamilton, very well casted.
🎧 She is a single mother, with a kid that is trying to figure how to be a teenager. The small town vibes continue, which I love, with those springles of conspiracy kind of secrets, (I don't want to give away) that Ms. Huss does so well, have me invested to read more about these towns.
❗️ Disclaimer : My rants, ramblings, and incoherent thoughts might be considered spoilers by some. Also, often, I do not read trigger warnings or blurbs.
🎧 Having a MMC courting and being fun as Amon, Ms. Huss clearly knows her game by giving him Teddy's voice. Ms. Erickson is a favourite, it's my tenth audio from her.
🎧 Of course there are things not fully explained in this book that hopefully will unfold with the next story. I am here for it.
🎧 Make time for what I like. That is what I am taking with me from this book.
Wow – does Julie know how to throw a wrench into a story to make you go OMG – SERIOUSLY??? This is the 2nd book in the Sacred Trinity series, and it features Rosie, who is the only single mother living in Revenant, and Armon, who was the bad boy in town growing up and back now as part of the Special Ops team who has moved back. Rosie is just trying to make it work with her son, Cross, and Armon now has his sights set on her. While trying to woo Rosie, successfully I might add, she has been receiving strange letters at all the different places she lives/works. They seem to be puzzles, and when she finally figures it out, she knows its Cross’s father who is sending them. Except he is supposed to be dead.
Things get a little hairy after the 4th of July when her son goes missing and you find out exactly who and from WHERE the person who took him is from – and that’s the mind blown part!
I was able to read and listen to this book at the same time, and the narrators did an amazing job with their parts – I loved it so much, and I definitely recommend it!
I absolutely love JA Huss books! She is a favorite author of mine. This one started a bit slower in that it sets up the romance between Amon and Rosie as well as who they are, dropping tidbits of information that make you wonder what's coming and when!? I loved the descriptive writing of Disciple, West Virginia, and the characters who live there. Rosie is a fascinating character. I enjoyed her introspection of herself, her life, and her son's life. Her son, Cross, made me smile BIG. He had that preteen attitude down, the good and the bad. When it starts picking up near the end, I find myself holding my breath, trying to read faster. Some questions left that I can't wait to have answered in the next book. This was a sweet and steamy read, which I expected from this author. I look forward to picking this up on Audible as well.
*I read this book through the Kindle Unlimited program.
Amon Parrish has returned home. Childhood troublemaker who went off to the military at 18 and returns a more worldly man. He’s seen and done things he has no patience for anymore.
But seeing Rosie Harlow has him pulling out all the stops to win her heart. Who knew that love and family were all he’d ever want.
But Rosie seems to have a stalker and things aren’t adding up. Their relationship is getting hotter and more serious, and he’s falling hard for her and her son.
Her past has come back to rip her life apart and threaten the most important person in her world and cost her the very future she wanted and never believed she deserved.
And Amon is not going to give up easily! Collin is leading the charge and Ryan and Nash are on fire. No one is getting away with what they’ve done to Rosie’s boy.
Oh my goodness!! Amon Parish is every woman’s dream romance all wrapped up in a hot ex-marine, dog 🐕 loving trainer who happens to be part owner of one questionable elite security company located on an old abandoned mine, that’s been turned into some sort of military compound.
He has set his eyes on Rosie Harlow and has turned all his charm into courting her and he is swooning the pants right off every woman around watching, including Rosie ♥️♥️
Rosie is, according to Amon, every man’s dream with her adorably cute smile, outfits and dirty talking phrases she says to him and her occasionally slu**y clothes mixed with her prim and proper clothes to play the part in Bishop, Disciple and Reverent town parts.
I absolutely loved reading this story, it had all of the over the top romance 💘, humor and a bit of mystery going on and it can be read as a standalone, but if you really want to know all the side character stories, then you’ll want to also read the first book in the series, The Rumble and The Glory.
I also listened to the audiobook of this read by Teddy Hamilton & Ava Erickson. These narrators delivered an excellent story and completely pulled me into the story!
In this book I feel like I’ve gone to this Appalachian community, so drawn into the storytelling and the lives of the characters. The world of Trinity County expands some more and we go deeper with Rosie Harlow. Because Rosie is fully enveloped in all three of the subsets of the Trinity experience. To all who know her she is one of the happiest people they know. A friendly store manager, a flirty waitress, and witty author, but most of all a happy mother. Until her 12 year old son Cross wants to grow up too soon and an intriguing Amon returns to shake up her life, and make her rethink her reality. Amon is well versed in this weird and wonderful world and sets out to court Rosie in grand style, but when her world crumbles he also proves he can handle the outside world with a little help from his friends. Don’t miss this titillating journey.
JA Huss's writing always makes me feel like I'm walking through her stories alongside her characters. In this second book in the Sacred Trinity series, we're watching the romance between single mom, Rosie, and former bad boy turned secret ops guy, Amon. You feel their chemistry pick up right away though Rose has her reservations about getting involved with Amon since she has a twelve year old son to worry about. I enjoyed watching Amon win Rosie over with his patient courtship, but this is no ordinary romance story. We already know, Edge Security which is who Amon and Collin (from The Rumble and the Glory) work for, has been setting up shop just outside of Trinity County. The mystery surrounding their purpose starts to unfold. In true fashion, the author takes on twists and turns which leaves your mind blown! Can't wait for the next one!
Amon and Rosie’s love story! OMG I just love them. Rosie is cute and loving and so old fashion like the town she comes from. She ended up having a kid at 15 and was a single mother for 12 years cause Cross her son’s daddy went missing! Amon comes home from being in the military. He remembers Rosie as the young girl whose water broke at school. The scared girl! He sees her again and falls! I long that this series is ask about support and trust not just love!!!! I can’t wait to find out the whole pole to this story. The underground city that is run by the government or is it??? Who knows! We won’t find out the full story until the last book! I love that I get so excited to read the next book and I’m anxious when I feet to the end of a book. This series does that to me and so has all her books! I can’t wait to know all about the world that Julie has created for us!
Echo On The Water is what a small town romance should be. Oh my goodness, I was SWOONING over Amon 😍😍. He was the sweetest, most irresistible man I've ever read. And he fucks like a villain. Rosie Harlow is sweet without being too sweet. She has a dirty side and Amon brings that right out. I love these two together. Like, hard core. Like a Spencer and Ronnie hardcore love these two together. Then. Let's not forget this is JA Huss we are talking about. Secret governments and conspiracies are interwoven with our favorite revival and I just know it will get deeper and darker as this series continues. The audiobook was read in duet narration by Teddy Hamilton (who was absolutely perfect as always) and Ava Erickson, who did a phenomenal job as usual.
Another bizarre read based on the towns of the Trinity. Rosie is such a unique character. She has shown incredible strength as a young single mom. Her son’s father has been MIA ever since she was pregnant so she relied on her family to help raise Cross. The two are well loved in the community. She has found a happy balance in her life, but Amon comes along and shakes things up for her. Amon is a guy in a mission. He wants to make Rosie his. He turns to old “courting” ways which was sweet to read. He is absolutely the sweetest making Rosie feel cherished. There is a bit of mystery with letters that turn up. Amon is determined to keep Rosie and Cross safe. Questions about the past are answered. More mysteries are solved. More questions are even asked. But it sure is a fun ride to be on!
I am so in love this with world. With these characters. Julie has a way with words that really brings them to life on the page. Like watching a movie. Rosie and Armon are so sweet. The courtship between them is swoon worthy. As the courtship plays out and the relationship grows, so does the mystery of Trinity county. As with the first book, you get a little more of the mystery revealed. Things aren't as they seem....as with most of Julie's worlds. There is always something going on in the background, something just out of reach, but when it is revealed all the clues leading up start to make sense. Definitely a top read of 2024. This series is magical!
Second in a series, a trio of towns, a tent revival as backdrop, characters with a past. Amon works in security, single mom Rosie, who had her son at 15 works various jobs throughout the town.
Prepare for super-smart military style protection dogs, an old-fashioned lonely hearts newspaper, the value of time, mysterious puzzles, dessert first, and a glorious courting.
Dangerous revelations, and an entire town at your back. Original, entertaining, suspenseful and romantic. An amazing experience is to be found within these pages.
***** I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book *****
Oh my Amon is one smooth talking romantic when it comes to Rosie! There’s more revival theatre, and a bit of a twist, and plenty of tension. We learn lots about Rosie and her different ‘lives’ as she flits between job to another. And Amon really does pull out all the stops in his courtship of Rosie. The mystery of Blackberry Hill and what happens there deepens and a new angle of the disused mine is also added into the mix. And the drinks - we’re still wondering about those. So the long game story that threads itself into the individual characters stories continues. I’m looking forward to The Comfort and the Brave.
The second installment of the Sacred Trinity was another treat! It’s small town meets government conspiracy theories meets Frontierland. It kept me on the edge of my seat and I did not see those twists coming! Rosie was a sunshiney delight; she became a single mom to her whip-smart son across at 15, and the identity of his daddy is a mystery. His whereabouts are a mystery too, even to Rosie. In order to keep her loneliness at bay, Rosie picks up every part time job in the tri county area. She is beloved by many, but won’t let a man get close enough to hurt her again. That is, until Amon Parrish, reformed bad boy, comes home. He really pulls out all the stops to sweep her off her feet, and the themed towns on the Revival are the perfect backdrop for their story.
