Shadowed Storm is a gripping tale set in the world of Shadow Defense Security. It's a high-stakes story where everything is at risk of being destroyed if the characters don't stop the plot to take out the world's water supply. Each book in the series is standalone, but they all share an overarching conspiracy plot, and characters make appearances across the books. "Shadowed Storm" is the fourth book in the series, and it's just as captivating as the previous ones. The author, Mavery, has created a world filled with dark and gritty plotlines, suspense, thrills, high-end danger, and strong, sexy ex-SEALs in protective mode, alongside equally strong female characters. This romantic suspense thriller is both interesting and highly entertaining, with a touch of humour woven throughout. It's a must-read that won't disappoint.

Though this is part of a series, it's actually the first one I've read of Mavery Ellscott's. It does reference past books in the series, but can be read as a standalone, and definitely did not disappoint.
I loved that there was hints of romance in it, but by and far the main bulk of the story was the suspense side - which is my favorite! Reading as a non-stop action movie, this book takes you through a harrowing week of Seb and Alexis on a crazy mission.
I definitely will be checking out the others in this series - and I can't wait for the next one to come out!

Mavery Ellscott's Shadowed Storm, the fourth installment in the Shadow Defense Security series, is a gripping and relentless thriller that delivers on all fronts. We are back in the next installment of the series. Alexis has found a dangerous alga genetically engineered by man. The repercussions of loosing it upon the world will have devastating consequences if it fell into the wrong hands. She calls in reinforcements, Shadow Security. Seb got to know her through a past case, so he will be her contact now.
They discover themselves constantly on the run to protect her and the sample she has. She also discovered the formula belongs to an old professor. He could not possibly be involved in this, could he? With time running out and enemies everywhere, they will take journeys into many areas to try and escape the bad men out to kill them.
When they run afoul of an unknown entity in the game played, who is he and what does he truly want? Who does he work for? He is a ghost! It will take every single person belonging to Shadow Security and others to help keep them all safe, at least for now. Meanwhile, Seb and Alexis will embark on a personal journey; continuing what started before. Where will they end up?
I LOVE this author! I love her attention to detail. She writes so well it is as if you are there and these people are your family. I especially love the world building of each character as they experience harrowing action-packed experiences, when they fall in love, what they will do to keep it and help save the world or those at hand. Her characters resonate perfectly with the soul in that they are ordinary people who find themselves in such dangerous situations. The growth of her female leads is what I love the most! Finlay was my favorite female lead, until her best friend Alexis came along and stole my heart! I LOVE the humorous scenes, it endears the characters, especially the males, when they realize what bada$$ women they have and how they can save themselves! Pick up the next action-packed, intense, psychological, snarky, humorous, crime thriller from Mavery Ellscott! You will NOT want to miss out on this next addicting book in the series!

Never a dull moment in this series. The author doesn’t make you wait long for the action like life moments happen in an instant and this instalment in the Shadow Defense Security series is no different. Dual perspectives of Seb and Alexis.
A normal task for Alexis turns everything upside down when she discovers genetically engineered algae that even a small sample could poison the world’s freshwater supplies. Being the logical person she is she decides to sneak away and make her way to the University of Miami where she can get a second opinion before taking her information to the scientific community. Only she is immediately being watched and followed by those responsible. Seb is sent by Finlay, Alexis’s best friend, to help her complete her journey. Seb is a former Navy SEAL, partnered with Drake, Finlay’s boyfriend (book 3), and three others they own Shadow Defense Security, a private military contractor. Seb’s goal is to safely get Alexis to Miami, but the men hunting her and now him will stop at nothing to keep their discovery from seeing the light of day. First meeting in book three, the chemistry between Alexis and Seb is obvious as they trust in each other and fight to survive the situation they have found themselves in.
Will they get the sample to Miami? Who is behind this and why? Can Alexis and Seb find more together or is it fleeting with the mission? Everything about this series is designed to pull you in and keep you on the edge of your seat and heart racing from page one. This is the 4th book in the Shadow Defense series. Even though this is part of a series they can be read as a standalone. However that being said I feel that once you read one you will want to read them all.
This is a romance suspense read, filled with drama, angst danger, a race against time and sizzling chemistry. There are so many twists and turns in this story that you are left guessing what is going to happen, especially when the threat is something that could cause harm to the whole population with enemies in high places.
When Oceanographer Alexis Hayes finds a dangerous algae that could potentially cause harm to everyone who comes into contact with it, she knows she has to nutralise the threat. However, there are people that don't want her coming forward with what she has found.
Now it is a race against time to get the sample to someone Alexis can trust, so she can find someone to help her. But this only brings her into the spot light of people who want to stop her at any costs.

Dr. Alexis Hayes is an oceanographer who discovered dangerous algae on a boat during a dive during one of her dives for research. When she tries to figure out who is behind it and why, she finds herself on the run from some dangerous people and literally running for her life, in an attempt to solve the mystery and possibly save the worlds clean water supply. Alexis’s friend, Sebastian Tremblay, who is a former Navy SEAL and part owner of the security firm, Shadow Defense, meets up with Alexis to try and protect her and keep her safe once she reaches the United States, after she arrives from her sailboat trip from Paris. While the pair tries to stay ahead of those who wish them harm and want to keep them quiet, they must also figure out who is responsible for the algae and how to stop them. Neither expects to fall in love along the way. This book is part of the Shadow Defense Security series, and can be read as a stand-alone, but is definitely better when read as part of the series and you will definitely want to read them all. The characters and world feel real and like friends you never want to leave. I can’t wait to see what is next for this series and these characters.

Another gripping thriller in this exciting series which once again had me hooked throughout. Oceanographer Alexis takes a dive with a school of basking sharks, but discovers a sunken motorboat. The boat has a lethal bio-engineered algae specimen on board which could contaminate freshwater sources. When Alexis becomes a target of a ruthless enemy she in lists the help of her friend and former Navy SEAL Seb Tremblay. The pair work on finding away of neutralising the algae whilst being hunted by a powerful enemy with vast resources. In order to protect the planets most vital resource and prevent global chaos Alexis and Seb must be prepared to make sacrifices. This was a real fast paced, page turner with an action-packed storyline and plenty of plot twists which kept me turning the pages. Both the characters and the Florida Keys setting came to life through the descriptive narrative which made me feel immersed in the story. Although it’s part of a series with an overarching conspiracy plot and a crossover of characters, it can be read as a standalone novel. I thoroughly enjoyed this story which had drama, suspense, romance and humour.

This entire series is a must read!! Each of these books *could* be read as stand alones, but you're cheating yourself if you don't read them all! There is an overarching theme that travels through each book, as well as several of the characters, so I highly recommend it.
There is non-stop action when Alexis discovers that her former research professor is about to unleash a strain of algae that could wipe out the world through the water supply. She will stop at nothing to confront him with this and try to put a stop to his actions. It's not long before Alexis learns that she's being pursued by people trying to stop her from stopping the exposure of this corruption.
Seb is an ex-Navy SEAL that is set out to protect Alexis on her endeavors. He's trying to keep her safe while she's worried about keeping him and his friends safe. They make a great team!
I want to talk about the ending but I won't because I don't want to ruin anything for anyone. However, Ms. Mavery EllscottEllscott, if you are reading this, please get book #5 out ASAP! :)

Shadowed Storm by Mavery Ellscott is the fourth installment to the Shadow Defense Security series but could easily be read as a standalone. This story follows Alexis, an oceanographer who is quite the avid lover of the water and the whole world that lies beneath. Alexis comes across a dangerous alga during a dive that could wreak irreparable damage to the waters if released. With the help of her sexy former Navy SEAL friend, Seb, they try to eradicate the problem and keep themselves safe in the process. However, their enemy has a lot of power, a lot of resources and will not allow Alexis to put a stop to the nefarious plan so easily.
I really, REALLY loved this story and I feel like the author's world-building and writing has been so consistent and perfect across these stories. She has done such a wonderful job creating likeable and realistic characters and gives the reader the perfect amount of detail to really make the story flourish without going overboard. Definitely recommend if you love a good thriller that will keep you on edge with a twisty storyline and amazing characters!

The cliffhanger at the end has me ready to cry… Why is no one else talking about this series!?! This was by far my favorite book of the series. Another 6 star rating for Mavery Ellscott! The dedication at the front was completely unmatched and I never would have thought she could have outdone herself, but she did! This book was action-packed from the start, the first chapter pulls you in and you come out the other side changed… I think that Mavery expertly thought through and managed this series for the final books in the series to have the most impact, and I’m here to tell you she delivered! I cannot wait to read the next book and see what happens when the Shadow Defense Security team continues to work towards solving the mystery of their last mission and helps others in the destruction path. Alexis has stumbled upon a secret that threatens not only the world but the tenuous hold she has to moving on from her past. Another wonderful story in this series. I honestly could not wait for this one. We saw the two MC in Finlay’s book and I wondered if something would happen between them. Now I know! This one is filled with action, suspense and drama with of course the romance between these two. The thrills really ramped up the last couple chapters and I kept looking at the page number vs how much story was left. I was nervous it would end badly or a cliffy but nope it was done well.
I love Alexis! Her job is intriguing and she seems unstoppable. I was hoping the ending would have her going back to Holt’s daughter since she idolized her so much. I feel this gal can do anything in any situation. Seb is a lucky guy and I see he realizes it as the story moves along. There are numerous other characters that pop in and out that add a lot to the story and help it get moved along. Some I wonder about others are gone as soon as I turn the page.
Hopefully there will be at least one more in this series.

Shadowed Storm: A Shadow Defense Security Thriller Book 4 (Shadow Defense Security Series) by Mavery Ellscott. This is the 4th book in the Shadow Defense Security Thriller Series and its just as good if not better than the previous 3. I love this series and while they can probably be read as standalone's I highly recommend reading them in order to pick up on all the hidden gems you would miss reading them as singles. Its the continuing story of Alexis who finds out her former research professor is trying to release a strain of algae that would wipe out the world thru our water. When the bad guys find out Alexis is trying to stop him they are trying to stop Alexis and they will do it anyway they can. Which means Alexis is in serious danger. Seb is the security assigned to Alexis and he has got his work cut out for him. Alexis is more worried about Seb and his friends and wanting to keep them safe that she makes it harder for Seb. There is great chemistry between Seb and Alexis and you won't want to stop flipping pages to see what happens!

This is the fourth book in this series which can be read as a stand alone and I look forward to reading more from this series. I enjoyed the way this author used details to make the characters come to life on every page. This is a well written story about a game where every move you make could be your last. Alexis is diving when she spots a suckened motor boat when things become deadly. Spots a form of algae that will contaminate the freshwater so she enlists her friend Seb. This is where things become deadly for them. What happens next is something you don’t want to miss. I enjoyed both characters and what they add to the story. They are strong, connectable and keep you coming back for more. I also enjoyed watching the growth of the plot throughout which made the story easy and entertaining to read. This is a fast paced, engaging thriller story where the twists and turns will leave you sitting on the edge of your seat. This is a great story that I enjoyed reading and I highly recommend.

This was like just Wow! Excellent book. Fast paced, action packed and so much in the story. Absolutely loved it!
This was about Alexis who was on the run with a sample of algae that would ruin the world's water supply, and Seb the ex seal from Shadow Defence Security assigned to protect her.
This truly was a work of art. The characters were just spot on. Alexis was smart, stubborn but knew when to give in, and Seb was the ultimate Protector who would do anything to protect his woman.
Their connection was there from the start but they had a small amount of history that helped with the chemistry. Their relationship certainly took some hits along the way but come up strong.
So well written, it was a pleasure to read and finely crafted I'm in awe. The layers of story and the configuration of characters really made me marvel and enhance my enjoyment.

Shadowed Storm is the fourth thrilling instalment in the Shadow Defense Security series by Mavery Ellscott, and my favourite of the series to date.
This is a tense romantic suspense with action, adventure, danger, high stakes, chemistry, agendas, a sinister & powerful foe, twists, intrigue, humour, mystery, emotion, interesting characters, a massive global threat, a race against time, challenges, and so much more — which all added up to a very engrossing read.
I loved all the exciting elements that were woven into this story, it made for a riveting read.
Again, as I have mentioned in previous instalment reviews, this book/series would translate well onto the big screen- and make a great, long-running, television series.
I can’t wait for more Shadow Defense!

I loved all the exciting elements that were woven into this story, it made for a riveting read.
Again, as I have mentioned in previous instalment reviews, this book/series would translate well onto the big screen- and make a great, long-running, television series.
I can’t wait for more Shadow Defense!

Who says Oceanographers rad quiet lives ?!
Alexis is out diving when she spots the “ ordinary” which is ocean life and the “ unordinary” an algae , it’s no ordinary algae and it’s effects can be devastating to mankind and now she’s under the radar of the “ creators” of this bio engineered algae , she’s in danger and these people are ruthless …
What they didn’t bank on is Seb , her former Navy Seal friend and man he’s all alpha and had he weak at the knees 🙈and one would think that because they’re trying to save humanity they’d have support but the bad guys seem to one up them the whole time but fear not good will always overcome evil 😉
While the fight to save mankind was going on there was also the battle of the heart which did break the tension a little and it was a good distraction from the heart racing tension 🥰
It can be read as a stand-alone but I highly recommend you read the entire series for a fuller experience 😉

This story begins with Alexis discovering a specimen which could present a danger if released. Because of her find, her life now became dangerous. It seemed that an unknown organization was pulling out all stops to prevent her from bringing it to someone's attention. With this threat, she came under Seb's organization's Shadow Defense Security, protection. As Alexis and Seb were attempting to meet up with a professor in Miami, they teamed up with Vance, a U.S. Marshall, and Emery, his witness that he was protecting.
Follow Seb and Alexis and discover what events they had to overcome as well as why Emery was being protected and why they were on the move. Discover the importance of Alexis' discovery and why this unknown group needed to stop her.

When Oceanographer Alexis Hayes finds bio-engineered algae on a sunken motorboat, it has the potential to contaminate freshwater sources which could be very detrimental. Someone out there has wicked plans for this algae and Alexis just got in their way. She now has a target on her back but she has an ace up her sleeve by the name of Seb Tremblay, former Navy SEAL. They need to find a way to neutralize this threat before it can be released and they end up six feet under. I have enjoyed every book in this series so far. They each have a little something different as far as what kind of trouble they are in or problem that is being solved. It was nice to see characters from previous books in here as well. It was like catching up with some old friends. This author hooks you and keeps you turning the pages with all the twists and turns.

Attention, all science nerds who love a good thriller!!!
Action keeps on coming!!! Strong, able characters who are also seriously flawed (which only adds to the suspense!) but a plot that is so twisty even amidst the ebbs and flows of romance. (By the way, I love the break-up! You, go girl!) And, as with all Ellscott thrillers, the end REVS UP! (Seriously, why is there not a shark on the cover?!)
I also love how this book links the past books ... and tiptoes into the next! (Eek!)
(Psst! Although not main characters and barely side characters, wait until you meet Claire and Holt. A real hoot! Oh, and Emery! She steals the show!!!)
Now starts the painful wait until the next Defense Security comes out!

This book was absolutely amazing!! I have loved every book in the Shadow Defense Security series, but this one takes it to another level. Alexis and Seb are magnificently written characters. Alexis is incredibly intelligent with a quite wit while Seb’s mission is to protect. While these books can technically be read as a standalone, I highly recommend picking up the previous books as well. There is a lot of background and overarching themes that are continued through each installment. I definitely lost quite a bit of sleep just so I could stay up and finish reading this. If you are looking for a book that is going to keep you on your toes, make your heart pump with non-stop action, and fulfill your romantic desire, look no further. This should be your next buy! I am on pins and needles waiting to see what this author has in store for us next. Bring it on!

This book was another amazing addition to A Shadow Defense Security. I can’t wait to see what other amazing books this author comes out with.

This is a high stakes, action packed thriller that takes place mostly on the water for the main character Alexis. She is an oceanographer who makes a discovery that could affect the whole world’s water supply if it gets into the wrong hands and she can’t let that happen. The bad guys want to get to her even more and will stop at nothing to accomplish their task. Seb is another main character that is introduced to keep her safe that quickly became a favorite of mine while reading. The twists in the story will surprise you and the end will definitely leave you wanting more. This is a stand alone story, but considered the fourth book in the Shadow Defense Security series as far as character crossover. I can’t wait to read more of the books in the series.

I somehow accidentally missed Shadowed Defense book 3, and while I'm kicking myself (and on my way to find it and read it as soon as I'm done typing), I really really enjoyed this one! I've read books 1 and 2 already and they definitely continue to get better and better (not necessarily the writing, the writing is solid, but the storylines are becoming more complex as they go). I found the story engaging from page one and had a really hard time putting it down. I liked not only the Shadowed Defense agency pieces, but also the highly intelligent female lead character- good book, definitely recommend!

This book will have you diving into the shark infested waters as well as protecting our environment. Alexis and Seb make a great team. Seb an ex seal and Alexis an oceanographer. Both love water and both enter into a fight for their lives as well as our ocean life. WOW this story is fast paced and loaded with many twists. Which makes for a great suspense thriller. The characters have a strong will, that's for sure. The author, although new to me, has me wanting to read so much more from her. Her story holds an emotional rollercoaster as well. Great read for those who enjoy diving and underwater activities. I really enjoyed reading this series and can't wait to read more. Well Done!

After reading this author for the first time reading the second book in the series , then after binge reading the first and third one in anticipation of this release I was extremely excited and couldn't wait to dive in. This authors writing is taut and engaging, and has a well-paced narrative that keeps readers hooked with gripping action-packed storyline and satisfying characters development, intricate plots, high-stakes scenarios, and strong, dynamic between the main characters Seb and Alexis So If you enjoy suspenseful and gripping stories I highly suggest you read bot only this one but the whole series 🥰

This series just continues to keep me invested, looking forward to the next book already.
Alexis and Sebastian met in Paris thanks to Finley and Drake and the trouble they got into together last time. I thought they would be good together then and now I think they are great.
Alexis is in danger after accidentally discovering something that has the potential to be very dangerous. Sebastian is there to help her stay safe and maybe fall in love.
The adventure and suspense doesn't let up one bit and I may have developed a little crush on Alexis after the shoe incident.

Shadowed Storm is book 4 of the Shadow Defense Security Series by Mavery Ellscott. This book can be read as a standalone, but the whole series is great, and I would of course recommend reading them all. In this book Alexis discovers genetically modified algae, which could be disastrous if it were to be released. Alexis, along with the help of Sebastian, attempt to eradicate the problem. However, the enemy is very powerful and dangerous, and Alexis and Sebastian's lives are on the line. The characters are incredible, and the world building is spot on. I highly recommend this book, as well as the others in the series.

Oh man, this is the one series where they are all my favorites. Alexis is awesome. I loved this one. The drama, action, the romance and everything else is outstanding. The writing is phenomenal. This author has again written a story that had me holding my breath and gasping, and other action items as I read along or yelling at my Kindle as I read like I was talking to friends. The research is good. The characters are very relatable with an engaging story. This whole series is full of 5 stars. A must read.

This book is a brilliant addition to the series and I think is the one that has my favourite characters so far. I loved the connection between Alexis and Seb. It felt so real and convincing, right from the moment they are together.
The overall story was exciting to read. The author kept it moving with so many twists and turns. I found myself completely pulled in to the story and what was going on. This has been a really strong series so far and this book just adds to that. I would definitely recommend it and I am looking forward to the next one.
