Seduction: Love, Loss, Leverage Murder by Carol Bluestein Book Review, 10/12/15
Although crime thrillers are not my genre of choice, Seduction by Carol Bluestein had me deeply engrossed in a story of deception, romance, political intrigue and technological intricacies. Bluestein’s writing is descriptive, engaging and suspenseful. Her characters are multidimensional and believable, leaving me rooting for the protagonist and despising the antagonist. Her grasp of advanced technology is impressive. The intricate plot moves along at a face-pace and is action-oriented. She seamlessly weaves in details that both foreshadow and flash back effectively. This is a stunning debut novel that kept my riveted and turning the pages until the end. It kept me up well past my bedtime to finish it. I thoroughly enjoyed this reading experience and look forward to the next book in her series.
Received as an audio review copy from Story Origin, this is an honest review. Wonderfully narrated by Christa Lewis, Seduction is beautifully morally complex and smartly intense story that allows you to ponder that if carefully and quietly ridding the world of those preventing the world from being a better place... is it the right thing to do? This is what Ted Donovan does through his Praise Foundation: while the world sees it as aiding the world to become better; behind the scenes Ted and this team silence those corrupt and others that have gray complex. Ted Donovan also has an uncanny habit of being at the right places and time to rescue women during assaults as happens to a woman named Rachel. Altered by that harrowing experience, she and Ted's worlds collide as Donovan's dark secret project is coming to light and Rachel finds herself aiding the FBI to bring Ted's worlds crashing down.
This was my first CL Bluestein‘s book, and won’t be my last. This is the first book in the Love, Loss, Leverage, Murder series. I liked the characters, the mystery, suspense, and romance. Rachel and Chris are great characters. The supporting characters are intriguing. The plot is well crafted and captivating, filled with twists and turns. Christa Lewis did a great job with the narration. This is a great introduction to the series, and I am looking forward to listening to Perception the next book in the series to know what happens next.
If some one offers you your dream, holiday and lets say you do not have the best record for being a good person..... run and keep running.
Loved this book. Yes some parts will kick home, ie rape. But it is done in such away, and such a centre part of this book. Rachel goes through hell and still is , but her new landlord helps her... Please listen this book. We have murder, blackmail, love, strength , action , revenge and mystery organisations.
There are always those who want to control those close to them and world events. Characters in this plot are perpetrators of these injustices to mankind and society. Sometimes victims fight back! An entertaining read. Thank you
This author is new to me; however, this is definitely not the last book I'll be reading of Bluestein's. Great plot, believable characters and full-on, nonstop action.
I listened to audiobook. Narrator does an excellent job with regards to her voice. Inflection and tone was spot on. The story line is a political thriller involving Rachel and Chris At the beginning trauma strikes Rachel. The problem I have with story is that it is never explained why that trauma was part of story. Otter than that story line was fairly good.
This page-turning thriller is exciting and well written. I fell in love with the richly drawn characters, and I cannot wait to follow them in their next adventures (PERCEPTION: Book Two).
