The Full Moon Problem

Rate this book
Felix was raised by a family who upheld traditional medicine over all modern medicine – so when he turned 18 and started transitioning, Felix had to run away from home if he wanted to live his authentic life. Now, ten years later, he’s surprised when his aunt passes away and leaves him a house, far from the place he left.

Leaving an unfulfilling life in London to give country living a try, Felix is soon overwhelmed by the amount of books on folk medicine and gardening his aunt left to him. Wanting to reconnect with her memory, Felix decides to give the family craft he’s always shunned a try, and soon the locals are asking him for the remedies they had relied on when his aunt was alive.

One of those locals is Declan, the handsome deliveryman who immediately catches Felix’s eye. Declan is shy and reclusive, but Felix manages to chip away at Declan’s walls and soon discovers his secret: Declan is a werewolf who loses control on full moons, and only a potion Felix’s aunt used to make can help him gain back that control. Felix is determined to make this potion correctly and help Declan… and maybe fall in love in the process?

A cosy and spicy werewolf x witch romance set in the English countryside with full-page illustrations in every chapter, drawn by the author.

No rating, because this wasn't a 4 stars book for me, but it nevertheless deserves more than 3 stars for some aspects.

Here's why, first what I loved/enjoyed, then what didn't work for me.

The strenghts of the story:
A werewolf romance that's different from every other I've read. Do not expect a queer werewolf shifter romance like the Green Creek series.
It's wholesome and warm, it's all about kindness and acceptance, it's full of love and community.
I loved the diversity of the cast (racial, cultural, religious, regarding identity and sexuality, I loved that there's an ace secondary character as well).
I enjoyed the plot's pace in the first half of the book, the cozy feeling set in a quaint english village in autumn.
Felix being trans and happy with his body, Declan being a werewolf but not in harmony with his wolf was shown in a believable way.

What didn't work so well for me, but might for many others (this could be mildly spoilery, although there's nothing really spoiler-worthy happening in the book in my opinion, it's a werewolf romance after all, so there's bound to be werewolves and a hea):
Once Felix and Declan take a leap of faith and know there's mutual feelings between them, Felix being such a horndog, the kinks and the sex felt (to me) a bit anticlimactic. The sex scene with Declan in wolf form wasn't appealing to me personally, but that's on me I guess.
Plus, again maybe a personal issue, and feel free to jump over the following ramblings because they are not really relevant to the story, but I didn't get the "would you like us to wear my parents' rings" - part, like, at all. It was written as this romantic gesture, but is that a thing? I felt repulsed tbh. Who would take the wedding bands from both their parents after they died together in an accident? For future personal use? Or is this something people do? I remember my grandmother had her late husbands wedding band melted to hers and wore that combined ring, and that already felt a bit creepy to me. But both parents' rings? I don't know..

FYI friends! This book is free today!! (3rd December 2024!)

---------------------

What a freaking gorgeous gem of a romance. I adored "The Full Moon Problem" to absolute bits: it made me laugh, it made me swoon, it made me blush, but it also, especially, made my brain blissfully quiet and happy for a few dreamy days.
If you look up "soft" in the dictionary, you'll find this book as an example. It's literally a warm embrace or a cup of tea during a cold afternoon in book form. It's soft, lovely, romantic, packed with feels, found family and lots and lots of healing, care and love.

This is my first time reading a Kay Claire novel, and I'm already (im)patiently waiting for their next masterpiece: I thought this book was going to cure me from my looming reading slump, but instead I got a book hangover. I already miss Felix and Declan and I have a Nimblyford-shaped hole in my heart. I never wanted to leave this amazingly cozy, small-town world.

Felix and Declan were fantastic characters.
Felix stole my heart the first time he appeared on page: I loved how warm and kind and open-hearted he was, and I also loved that although he's pretty confident in general, he still has his moments of vulnerability and insecurity. I also loved the fact that he was a yapper and a horny mess of a man: I love dark and broody protagonists, but horny, sunshine-y disasters will always have a special place in my heart too.
I also loved that he was confident and happy with himself and his body: you can see he's gone through quite a lot in life, but seeing him happy, whole, healthy, at peace, was wonderful. The romance genre definitely needs more trans rep in general, but I think it also needs joyful trans rep too and protagonists like Felix who have managed to embrace themselves fully, happily, proudly. Gah, that man made me emotional, and I'll miss being in his head.

Declan was a wonderful counterpart to Felix's sunshine personality: he's an anxious mess, afraid and insecure, and my heart broke for him. Like Felix, he's been through quite a lot too, and seeing him blossom throughout the novel, seeing him learn to trust himself and his wolf, was freaking amazing. I loved him so much, and I loved Felix and Declan together even more.

< “No. We’re never doing that again. I could hurt you.” Felix rolls his eyes. “ Anyone could hurt me. I could go outside and get hit by a car. That’s just, like, part of life.”
“I have fucking claws ,” Declan says in exasperation.
“Ugh, fine, then we’ll get those chains you mentioned before and put you in cuffs. Then I can ride your dick with no threat of getting clawed up.” Declan looks at Felix like he’s grown a second head. Felix is getting used to that look. “You’re fucking crazy.” >

Their relationship was the cutest thing ever: respectful, soft, gentle. They have a few issues to begin with, but I loved seeing them work through them and around the boundaries each of them set.
Also, their dynamic is literal fire. Despite the soft, light-hearted atmosphere and the cozy vibes, when they finally give in and get together... well, the steam was freaking steamy. I blushed and I swooned and I kicked my feet and I screeched. I was OBSESSED with how hot they were for one another, and I loved how Kay Claire incorporated the paranormal elements and Declan being a werewolf into it. Will I ever tire of reading shifter romances? I think not. Give me any romance with a knot, and I'll be happy.

Horniness aside... I loved the cozy atmosphere, and I loved the setting (who do I have to pay to go and live in a town like Nimblyford?) and I loved every single side character. Wanda and Drew were fantastic, and I LOVED YASIN SO DAMN MUCH, he was the best. I hope the author decides to write more in this universe, because I really want to see them all again.
I also loved the writing, and I LOVED the illustrations this book goes with. It added something even more special to an already special book, and the art was seriously gorgeous, as is the cover.
"The Full Moon Problem" is a fairly chunky book, and maybe some descriptions and scenes could have been whittled down a smidge, but I think in some ways it added to its charm. Despite the length, this romance flows like a freaking dream, and I can't believe I managed to finish most of it in two short sessions, work and studying be damned.

I wholly recommend this book: it's out tomorrow, and I'll probably be screaming about it for the foreseeable future. I loved it to bits, and everyone should read it: it's got magic, it's got magical trans rep, it's got wolves and lots of freaky steam, and it's got a romance that will absolutely steal your heart. GO AND READ IT!

TWS/CWs: grief and death of family members, transphobia, discussions of Alzheimer's and cancer, panic attack.

Many thanks to the author for the ARC. This is my honest review.

Lovely and sweet and cosy.

It was low angst but still had nice emotional engagement, and I really liked both MCs and empathised a lot with their struggles and development.

The side characters are all also lovely - everyone is lovely, ok? This is a very soft story - and well-developed.

I especially enjoyed the moments of trans joy and body euphoria: the shiny red toolbox, the chest hair. Felix has not had any gender-affirming surgery nor does he feel the need to, and there's discussion of a potential future pregnancy.

I will say it was a little slow to start, but then picks up nicely.

One other small complaint is a very heavy focus on sex once they do become a couple, but I enjoyed the scenes, and did like how sex became a way for Declan to become more comfortable with his shifted self.

This story is cosy slice-of-life perfection in the English countryside and I couldn't love it more. Felix inherits a house from his estranged aunt (who made folk-remedies *cough cough* - witch—). There he is adopted by the whole village once he starts making remedies again. And we enjoy watching him make friends, fall in love with the local lone werewolf -who is the shiest sweetest man ever-, and get settled into my dream cottagecore life.
There were so many adorable moments in this slow burn story, I just can't. It sometimes read almost YA, until you get to wolf cock with a knot and horny man that needs it inside.
Also, there shifted smut, so... Yeah, that 😮‍💨.
And of course, any book with trans MC living his best life gets ALL THE STARS.

Many thanks to the author for the digital review copy!

This book is pretty long for a romance, and I was so happy about it. I took my time reading it and I looked forward to continuing it every day. I love a paranormal romance, especially if it has werewolves, although for some reason I don't read them very often, and this one was so cosy and sweet and fun.

I found Felix's story of inheriting his aunt's house and finding out she was always supportive of him very touching, and seeing him learn her "remedies" and becoming a witch too was really fun. Declan was a very sweet love interest, very shy at first and gradually becoming more comfortable around Felix. The small town setting with all these lovely people made for such a cosy environment to set this witch x werewolf romance in, and I had a really good time with it.

The book also has illustrations by the author, which were such a lovely addition!

This is a truly cosy, wholesome read! The setting is rooted in the real world, but feels magical and mystical - there is a seamless blend between the Real World and the Supernatural. I think the author has a great setting and hook to explore more of the supernatural in future novels, and I'd love to read more about it! It feels fresh and new!

Felix, the main character, is complex and interesting, relatable and a little cringey, and we could definitely be friends because we have the same sentiment about phone calls. The characters throughout the story are just as well-developed and diverse. There is a great representation of the greater LGBTQ+ community, without being overwhelming, because it matters and it doesn't, right? - this is a great story about people, humanity, life, loss and love. I particularly enjoyed Yasin and Drew's budding relationship, the friendship and loyalty between the village young adults and their acceptance of Felix, and the more open-minded thinking of the older villagers.
Can I have this village life, please?

And the spice! It was very spicy and I very much enjoyed the passionate, romantics scenes as much as the characters themselves probably did. TMI? Probably. But while the spice is hot, Declan and Felix have a wonderful relationship - they talk about their feelings and consent, they're understanding and patient, and Felix also knows when and how to draw Declan more out of his shell.

This is well written - it's an easy read, the story flows from one scene to another, from the critical parts to the fillers, it's all well-rounded and comfortable to sink into.

I toyed around with 4 or 5 stars, not going to lie. This is because there were some lines of dirty talk and a wolfy sex scene that made total sense, but that didn't appeal to me. I knew what I was getting into and so that's just me, and maybe I am a bit vanilla, but the rest - right up my alley!

That said, I highly recommend this cosy, witchy, werewolfy, sincere novel - I laughed, I cried and I want to be friends with everyone I met! I'll definitely check out some of the author's other books!

Thank you very much to the author for this ARC read!

“I never thought I’d meet someone I’d be able to be my whole self with, and you just… You just accept everything about me.”

The Full Moon Problem is a sweet and cozy fantasy romance set in the English countryside. Felix left home at eighteen and has had no contact with his family for the past decade. So imagine his surprise when he finds out his aunt has passed away and left him her cottage. He packs up his life in London and moves to Nimblyford, unsure of whether he'll want to stay there. But life in this town offers him a sense of belonging in a way nothing else does. And that's not counting his crush on the mysterious and shy delivery man, Declan. Every interaction with him only increases that feeling and makes him want to unravel his secrets, even if it's the last thing he ever expected.

"When Felix turns to him again, the stranger – Declan – is hunched with his eyes on the ground, his ears red, and – oh. Maybe this hot dude is just really shy. Well. Felix can work with shy."

This book is like a warm hug on cold day. It brings out all sorts of gooey feelings and had me smiling through it all. Felix and Declan are opposites in a lot of ways. Where Felix is outspoken and bold, Dec is a little more soft and nervous. But these two are utter romantics and love with their whole heart. Their first interaction may not have ended on the best note, but they soon find a way to communicate that works for them. And y'all, their letters to each other were so freaking adorable. Like I need someone to write me letters and fold them up into tiny origami animals. With each new letter they get to know each other better and eventually their walls come down and their friendship just grows from there.

"Felix gets a look at the desperate longing on his face for a split second before their lips meet, and then it becomes impossible for Felix to focus on anything other than electricity and heat."

For two people who haven't been in a real relationship before, Felix and Declan pulled out all the stops when it came to wooing the other. There were scenic picnics and couples costumes and just a whole lot of swoony romance. But this book isn't just all about the love. It's also got werewolves and witches! Felix doesn't even know he has magic when this book starts. But he finds his footing pretty fast and is making potions and remedies for everyone in town. I love how supportive and protective the people were. They love these boys and just want the best for them. Especially their friend circle who I adored. Wanda, Drew and Yasin are so different but together the five of them make their own little family and I loved it!

"He’s moved from being horny about the man to straight up mooning about him like a love- sick fool."

The werewolf aspect of it was also so fun. I love how Felix embraces it completely. Even when Dec was afraid of his wolf and his lack of control, Felix never wavered in his belief that Dec would never hurt him. Dec's journey of finding harmony with his wolf and learning to trust and have confidence in all parts of himself was so wonderful. These two grow so much in this story and I really like the way they ended up.

"Declan is grateful every single day that Felix came into his life."

I would honestly love to live in Felix's cottage. The baked goods, the garden outside, along with the homemade teas and all the books just sounds like a dream. Having that setting really sets the tone for this story. And the illustrations? I feel like they really add something special to this book, especially cause they're drawn by the author themself! It's like getting a peek into the author's vision and getting to see things as the characters do. Everything about this book was warm and fluffy and though it does delve into some hard topics like grief, it maintains that warmth. If you like cozy fantasies that make you smile, I'd recommend you check out this book!

Liked:
♡THE SKETCHES. OMG, I LOVED SEEING THE SKETCHES OF THE MCS. 🥰
♡Declan being shy and inexperienced.
♡The letters exchanged and Declan's gifts.
♡The small town friends. Wanda, Drew and Yasin.
♡Cozy vibes, very minimal relationship angst.
♡Felix's matchmaking to get Drew and Yasin together.
♡Felix feeling protective over Drew when he saw a hickey on Yasin's neck ( no worries! The hickey was from Drew ☺️)

Disliked:
°Singular POV instead of dual. I really wanted to have Declan's POV. I don't know if I found Felix to just be...a bit annoying ? Or if it felt that way because I was forced to only experience his POV in such a long story.
°Felix was such a horn dog that it did feel like he was sexually harassing Declan with his scent even tho Declan said he liked it.
°Some of the dirty talk felt really weird and didn't feel like it matched the tone of the rest of the story.
°Before the shifted sex Declan's actions were described to be 'dog like' and Felix wondered if Declan's dick would be like a dog's... Thankfully it wasn't but that thought just skeeved me out. I'm all for monster sex and shifted sex is fine but when there's so much animal descriptions involved it goes into questionable territory, for me!

I actually skimmed quite a bit of this story and paid more attention when Declan or the other friends were on page,I wasn't that interested when it was just Felix, I would've preferred to have a break from him even if it was just going to be Declan's POV going about his deliveries and woodworking and blushing while thinking of Felix.

I stopped reading around 90% ish but I had to force myself to get to that point. I've been spoiled by dual POV and i'm so nosy that I need to know what each character is thinking that I really think that's whar made this one so hard to read because I still enjoyed a lot of things.

Did I plan to read the full novel in one sitting? Absolutely no. Did I fly right through it? Absolutely yes.

The Full Moon Problem is the coziest and sweetest small town werewolf novel I've ever read. Not that I've read many, but I adored it so much nonetheless.
Felix and Declan have such good chemistry, being respectful and incredibly sweet with each other the whole time. Be it talking about grief, living as yourself (being a wolf or trans), or kinks. They always talk things out, and it's such a sweet and healthy relationship. Maybe a little quick to develop, but that's how it is with fated mates.
There's also the whole town supporting and loving the two, without any of the usual struggles you stumble upon (like homophobia or being afraid of the big bad wolf). It's entirely refreshing and endearing how all the characters interact with each other. Including the little friendsgroup with Wanda, Drew and Yasin - a supportive environment for both Felix and Declan.
The spicy scenes were intense and so well written, with both characters clearly enjoying what they were doing.
And the illustrations! They're exactly as I imagined the scenes, and a wonderful addition.

Thanks to the author for the ARC!

Thank you Kay Claire for sending me an e-ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Y’all, this was so good! If you love supernatural and/or cosy romances you have to jump on this.

This book is basically all my cottagecore dreams. Inheriting a cottage that backs onto the woods in a small town with a thriving community???? Sign me the heck up!

I really loved both Felix and Declan a lot. Their romance is so breathtakingly sweet and they are so perfect for each other. I loved how they started with letters to work with Declan’s shyness, the way their relationship naturally evolved over the course of the book, the way Declan opened himself up to Felix and let him see every part of him.

I LOVED the entire supporting cast, from their close friends to the other residents. This whole town was just brimming with life and love. A real found-family vibe.

This one’s available on KU as well so go give it a read!

This book follows Felix who has just moved to the cottage he inherited from his aunt. Felix hadn’t seen his family in a decade after his parents couldn’t accept his transition, but he’d always had a great relationship with his aunt, and so was happy to have a chance to connect to the place and community she’d been part of for the last nine years. Felix had always hated his mothers use of natural remedies, feeling they were a way to con people out of money, but he finds his aunt had a different approach to the arts of healing herbs and ointments and, after hearing the villagers rave about his aunts craft and talents in caring for their ailments, he decides to give them a try too.
I loved this kitchen/green witch take on magic and witches. It’s something I haven’t come across in a realistic fantasy setting before and it gave the book such a cozy and comforting vibe. I adored how the villagers would always give Felix’s small tokens or gifts in exchange for his potions, never being charged money like his parents did, and instead accepting jars of jams, honey, or candles. It was such a lovely way of bringing the community together and helping Felix find his place.
The friendships were another thing I loved about this book, as well as the representation of autism, arcace, and trans identities, all were handled with such care and, Felix’s level of comfort in his body also helped me feel more comfortable in my own body and heal some dysphoria.
Declan was such a wonderful character, I loved watching him come out of his shell and see as his and Felix’s relationship blossomed, one origami animal at a time.
I also enjoyed the character art throughout the book and also the way of living- mending things instead of buying something new, buying second hand or making something from scratch, be it a loaf of bread or a chair, it was just such a great way of living and I loved seeing how everyone came together in the community. Another thing I loved was the depiction of adopted families being enough, and that retirement homes were there to look after elderly people and had their care at the heart of everything. It’s so rare to find these takes in most books, so that was very refreshing to see.
This book was very low angst and had an overarching level of comfort and warmth throughout that meant it was a very enjoyable read for me. This book has some very spicy moments as well as tons of romance and friendships.
CW’s - There are details of Felix’s aunts battle with Alzheimer’s and depictions of the decline of her memory, as well as Declan’s grief over the loss of his parents.

This is the cosiest slice of life style paranormal romance I’ve read in a long time! I had all the warm fuzzies while reading and would absolutely go live in Nimblyford in a heartbeat, especially if I got to witness the adorableness that is Declan and Felix falling in love. Their romance is sweet as sugar and had me melting for them through it all.

Workaholic introvert Felix is realising how lonely his life in London is when he inherits a cottage in the countryside from his aunt, who recently passed from Alzheimer’s. Moving to Nimblyford and being welcomed with open arms by the community, realising that he may have inherited his aunt’s witchy powers, and falling for the shy werewolf Declan are just some of the things that await!

Felix and Declan are so cute. They get to know each other through letters because Declan is so shy around Felix, and it’s just adorable. Once they start talking face to face there are a lot of emotional conversations and I just wanted to hug them both! They both treasured the acceptance and compassion they got from the other and it was beautiful. They needed each other so much.

Wolfy Declan is also super into Felix and THE CUDDLE had me kicking my feet and happy flapping so hard! Then when things start getting spicy, wow! Right from the first kiss the tension and heat was just amazing, and once the knot comes out we are in for some fun! But always through the book the romantic relationship is central and this is such a beautifully written, sentimental book. I knew from about 40% this was going to be a really high rating for me and it never disappointed.

The trans rep in this book is so well done. Felix is a trans man who has spent ten years on testosterone and is at a place in his transition where he is happy and settled in himself. It’s really wonderful to see the moments of gender euphoria and the everyday reality of life as a trans man. As a trans masc person I really connected with Felix’s story and appreciated how well portrayed it was.

There is also great autistic and aroace representation in the side characters, which we love to see!

I loved this book and I can’t wait to get a physical copy for my shelves. I thoroughly recommend to anyone who loves queer joy, werewolves, or cosy or small town romance.

It took me a while to get into this book as it moves at quite a slow pace and I wasn't used to third person present tense writing, but once I got past the first few chapters I found it very easy to read.

There was something so charming about the story, it pulled me in and kept me coming back again and again to read more. Sometimes the writing gave off a YA feel to it, but then once the spice started in the second half it felt more like an adult novel.

I absolutely loved the whole town and community that the author built and all the little details of the characters and places really added to the magic of the book.

The story was full of small town vibes and had so many great side characters. I especially liked Yasin, who was such a funny character, and I would love to read a novella or full story for him and Drew!

Overall, I really liked this book and thought it was incredibly sweet. In many ways it was nothing like I originally expected, but definitely in a good way. I loved both Felix and Declan's characters and can't wait to read more from this world!

Overall: ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️
Humour: 🤭🤭.5
Intimacy: 🫂🫂🫂🫂.5
Angst: 🥺🥺

First person single pov 👀 (apart from the epilogue)

CW (from author): grief over lost loved-ones; discussions of Alzheimer’s, car accidents and cancer. The main character experiencing terror at night and is unsure if they were nightmares or real. On page panic attack. A dead animal (hare). There are discussions about ableism, acephobia, homophobia, and transphobia. There are also multiple explicit sex scenes in the book, which includes sex with a werewolf creature (both characters fully consent), knotting, PiV sex, and a trans male character using the words cunt and clit for himself. Some kinks are both performed and discussed, including dirty talk about breeding kink, and jokes about piss kink.

CW: the word 'raped' is used, mentions of future male pregnancy.

Thank you to the author for providing me with a free copy in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

I don't think I've read anything cosier than this; it was like being wrapped in a warm blanket and snuggling up to your partner/pet while sipping a huge mug of decadent hot chocolate!

Felix is a witch but he doesn't believe it, so when he inherits his late aunt's cottage it seems he may have inherited her business, too - making teas and remedies for the people of Nimblyford - even though his initial plan was to stay just for a few months in order to tie up his aunt's estate and sell the cottage.

A few nights into his stay, while harvesting some moon flowers in the night, something big and hairy with huge claws jumps on him from behind and keeps him pinned all night. Shaken and a little scared, Felix tries to make enquiries in the village about possible wild animals, but he finds out that the villagers are keeping a secret.

Meanwhile, Felix starts feeling an attraction for the shy and elusive, yet oh so incredibly hot, Declan, deliveryman, et al, who leaves messages for Felix inside origami animals.

- Trans MC,
- The village map,
- Beautiful setting,
- MM romance,
- Touch him and die,
- Stunning illustrations,
- All the feels!

I have a video coming to my YouTube channel soon where I discuss this book in greater depth, convincing you to read The Full Moon Problem because of the writing, etc. Watch for that; I will add the link here once it goes live.

If you love romance, paranormal fantasy, witches, werewolves, small-town settings, etc, then I highly suggest you grab your copy now!

Will I read more #MonsterPorn? If it's written like this, then yes, definitely!

The Full Moon Problem is a small town, mm romance with cottagecore vibes. It has humor, representation and a cute love story that will make you smile. If you're in the mood for something sweet, cozy, and paranormal then look no further.

I was invested in Felix’s new life at Nimblyford and his connections with the people there. He inherited the home of his dead aunt and created a nice life for himself while helping others. I enjoyed Felix as the main character. I found him easy to like and care for. I also loved that he was a trans mc.

A romance between a newbie witch and shy werewolf? Yes please! I loved the relationship between Declan and Felix. I adored how they communicated with letters. I loved how they accepted each other. And I enjoyed Felix teasing Declan. Their romance was sweet, supportive and spicy. They were a great match and couple.

I was charmed by the world and characters in this book. It was a feel-good read that I enjoyed escaping into. This book made made smile, laugh and tear up a bit. I had fun reading this, and I loved it.

This was an ARC read and review. I'm grateful to the author for giving me the opportunity to read this book.

This was a very sweet book. There is great communication skills. It’s very wholesome with very well written spicy scenes. The author does an incredible job in the fantasy romance section. His inclusion of people from different races, religions, sexuality and points of view creates a very well rounded book. It was a lovely slow burn romance that felt realistic. The werewolf lore was well grounded into the books reality. I got this book as an ARC reader and I feel very honoured to have the privilege to read such a wonderful book. It’s been a good but challenging year in mostly good ways. So it was such a treat to sit down and read this book after a stressful day. It’s a soothing read and the sex scenes are tastefully done with a real connection and longing between the characters. They feel realistic and have their own flaws and graces about them that makes the couple feel much more believable as a couple. They feel honestly, incredibly right for one another. Our main character through trial and error helps our love interest to feel comfortable around him. It was wonderful to see the two bring out such shining parts of themselves through the pages. Wow. What a treat! Thank you so much!

Cons:

I would say that the reason it’s not four stars is because near the end, I found myself skimming/ speed reading a bit to finish. Which was a shame as most of the book was really gripping. It might have been a touch too long and dragged on a little bit but it was still lovely. I just got a little bit bored near the end but the ending was really sweet and special!

I cannot stress enough on how much I loved it. In the beginning, it was the sweetest, cutest thing I have ever read. It was teeth rotting sweet. And I was seriously considering if it was possible to die of cuteness. (Good news, I am alive). Also the number of times I pouted because, again, cuteness, was just outrageous. Also I figured out that cuteness aggression can happen over fictional characters, and it doesn't matter that he is a big bad wolf, you can still want to smoosh his face and tell him he is a good boy. (although, he is the sweetest thing ever. Those little pocket dogs are more aggressive than him). And then there is the second half of the book, that's going to make you blush. But mostly because between all the kinky stuff, it's still teeth rottingly sweet.
Fair warning, you might start hating everything and everyone around you if it makes you put this book down. Food and sleep included.

P.S. I follow the Montessori method, so my reviews are based on completion without ratings. If I didn’t like a book, I probably wouldn’t finish it and hence won’t review it.

I was seriously in danger of dying of cuteness! This book is so freaking cute! It’s just f***cking adorable, I just wanted to squeeze them all in a tight hug! You get a hug, and you get a hug! Everyone gets a hug!

“The Full Moon Problem” explores the life of Felix, our trans MMC, when he moves from London to his aunt's house in a small town. There he meets Declan, the very shy delivery guy, who turns out is a werewolf. Everyone in town is very protective of Declan with good reason. He’s part of the community, and he has suffered a lot. Both Felix and Declan will find a forever in each other.

Felix understands Declan. He’s no stranger to feeling like the odd one out. Their letter exchanged made me melt! Declan is extremely shy, and especially with Felix's scent making him hard to control his wolf, he cannot control himself around him, so instead of talking to Felix, he runs off afraid he will do something bad. Felix doesn’t give up, and he’s willing to learn and do everything to make Declan safe around him.

“The Full Moon Problem” is adorable and a must-read, especially now that we are in full monster/spooky season. It’s heartwarming and just the best surprise.

This was my first mm Werewolf romance, and I absolutely loved it! I love the main couples chemistry and dynamic of shy bf/forward bf, and I'm swooning a little bit. The feelings they both felt towards each other felt so real, and the descriptions of their attraction to each other were nuanced and in-depth.

And the setting!!!! Kay Claire did not lie. This book is a cottage core dream! The small town trope worked so well in this story, and the relationships of all the town citizens were so cute and interesting to learn about. Reading through the journey of Felix learning about his new home was so enjoyable.

I honestly think this is one of the perfect gay autumn reads, and I recommend this book to anyone who wants to read a book with some serious fall vibes, a fluffy, swoony romance, or a trans male witch!

you know, you gotta love queer werewolf books especially during this time of year!! this book was cute and cozy, and the relationships and backgrounds of the characters were well established. the themes of family and community were sweet. overall i enjoy supporting this author’s work a lot and will continue to in the future !! unfortunately, where this fell a little short was that i started to skim a bit towards the end; this felt a little bit too long. definitely would put a warning because there is a good amount of explicit content and i think that personally some of those scenes weren’t completely necessary to driving the overall plot forward. i also to some extent just wish a little more had been done with the werewolf concept just to push the envelope.

I absolutely adore this book! I feel like it was written specifically for me; it hit all the tropes I love and was so beautifully crafted. I dragged this reading out as much as I could because I never wanted it to end. Usually when I read I get happy seeing the percentage read go up but I felt so sad with this because I knew the further along I got, the sooner it was going to end. Felix and Delcan are such good characters, both wonderfully dynamic in their own way, and so relatable. I loved the other characters, especially Wanda and the acroace rep was amazing to see. This book honestly felt like a warm hug - isn't it everyones dream to move into an old cottage and become a witch, with an adorable werewolf boyfriend?

The artwork is amazing and helped to enrich the story.

Oh this book was so good y'all. The representation in it was really well done all around and I really enjoyed the slow burn romance and I felt like once Felix and Declan got together it was very much deserved.

My only issue with this book is the very jarring pacing. It's very slow in the beginning, not in a bad way, but it's developing the scenery, the romance, slowly building everything and then suddenly everything is moving at lightning speed for a good three four chapters and then all of a sudden we slow down again.

I don't know why it just bugged me while reading it but other than that I loved everything else about this book. It's definitely a very unique werewolf romance so I would definitely recommend it especially if you're looking for something fluffy and new!

4.75 stars- I loved the writing style used for this novel.
The Full Moon Problem just so happens to have a main character who is trans, but it's not about his transition. It's about how he falls in love with a community in a small village, and consequently falls in love with a man who lives there. Our MC finds himself becoming a pillar in the community and learning things about himself he didn't know were possible.
This novel has some tropes I didn't know I liked, and overall, I just fell in love with the characters. I kind of wished the story were longer, just to spend more time with the characters and be in the small village community of Nimblyford for a while longer.

This is the perfect, cozy autumn read! We tag along with Felix as he settles into his new small town life. We get to enjoy his little cottage, his new friends, and his developing witchy skills. Along the way he meets a gorgeous werewolf with social anxiety, as one does, and they fall in love and that, too, is cozy and sweet. This book feels like a sexy hug, with a sweet village potion witch, a community that’s fiercely protective of their gentle werewolf, and some really beautifully handled trans and neurodivergent representation.

This is such a sweet, cozy hug of a book! It's full of wonderful characters, both the MC, love interest, and the whole town of side characters. The vibes are kind of witchy-farming sim in book form, plus it takes place in autumn in England! Great trans MC rep, plus awesome side character rep of aro/ace & autism. The author drew the cover + illustrations for every single chapter and they're all stunning! Such a great addition to a lovely book :)

I'm biased because I edited this book, but I would have read it anyway and really enjoyed it!

I tend to read books just based on the title without knowing anything about it. This was the first trans man book that I've read and honestly really liked it. Everything about the story was different from other books I've read.

So, if you're looking for an original story that is sweet and low angst, give this a try.

I dnf’d only because I didn’t click with the writing style but I am still giving it a 5 star because I am in love with the premise of the story and know that if I could get into it I would have loved it 💕

I adored this book so so much!!! Felix and Declan are both absolute sweethearts. I loved their letters at the beginning and seeing Declan truly bloom and find happiness was lovely. Felix finding his home and coming into his gifts as a witch were also so so good!
