Cooper Jackson is my boss. Which is why my indecent thoughts about him must stay just that—thoughts. But no matter what I do, I can't get him out of mind. Not his dazzling blue eyes, or the way his voice makes me feel, or the spark that shot through me at our first touch. All I can think about is what one night with him would be like...
Cooper
I haven't been able to look at another woman since Meghan Taylor started working for me a year ago. She’s shy and reserved and the opposite of the usual women I date. So why does she hold so much of my interest?
Things get out of hand at the Christmas party. Mistakes are made, and I wasn’t strong enough to stop them. That's when we agree to some ground rules…
Safety warnings: - No cheating - Slight OM/OW drama - Loss of loved ones - Third act breakup - HEA

I'll be honest and say this book/plot was not new to the genre. Boss and employee getting together only for sex but then it backfires and emotions start but there was a slightly different from what people might be use to and that is the fact the H was madly obsessed with her.
While she was celibate since meeting him, so was he. He does mention that he should have slept with someone when he first met but he never made the call and since that day he has wanted nobody else but her.
They set ground rules on what not to do while they are sleeping together and while she tries to place them to protect herself, he agrees only because he wants her so badly he doesn't care how he has her.
All this comes to a halt when her mother passes and she leaves to go to California for a few weeks to deal with that loss and when she is there she realizes she is pregnant.
Worried she finally flies out to see him and when she is about to enter his office, she hears another woman and the illusion he is with that woman and after someone made a comment she believes he was sleeping with her, and Cooper never cared for her in any capacity.
She quits her job and leaves for good.
Fast forward 7 months later, and Meghan is about to give birth when she sees Cooper and he is distraught to see her pregnant believing it is someone else’s baby.
We find out he was spending every night drunk for 5 months after her sudden decision to end everything.
We also find out that the woman he was in the office with was an old friend who was he was having lunch with and catching up on her new relationship (she is gay).
There is a lot of miscommunications between them and after finally sitting down and revealing the truth, things can get back on track with them.
Why a low rating? She had BBS. She was too weak whenever he was around, and she never could stick to her guns while trying to stay away. I get it to a certain degree, but it was too much sometimes how much control she did not have and the only time she had it was when she walks away and spends 7 months apart.
He was great but I feel like he made a few mistakes and was bad at communicating too.
We get an epilogue of them married and having another baby.
I will not be reading the second book as it’s revealed in this book that it’s between Meghan’s best friend Alex and Sebastian (Cooper’s friend) and after they had a ONS, she catches him fucking another girl and he still brings girls around after that debacle hurting her. I can deal with playboys but not when they sleep with someone new after sleeping with their FMC. So yeah – not for me.
i already knew i wouldn’t like this at 5% in when it was revealed that the FMC hadn’t had sex or gone on a date for a year (i.e., since working for the MMC). she was so paralyzed by her feelings for him that she could not conceive of getting involved with another man 🙄 could the same be said for the MMC? of course not! while he might have had feelings for the FMC, it didn’t stop him from having a regular fuck buddy.
just ONCE i would love a romance in which the FMC/MMC both have sex with other people while having feelings for each other (that they’re not acting on) OR one in which they are BOTH celibate. i am so fucking tired of female authors refusing to confront their own internalized misogyny while writing these characters. hard pass on this one.
I loved this book in the end! Meghan and Cooper have tons of chemistry and are attracted to each other immediately. After a one night stand, and then another, they become pretty casual. I struggle with books where the characters don't communicate with each other, it's extremely frustrating to me, especially when their inner dialogue knows that they should speak up!
How is this K.A’s first book?? I literally was hooked from the beginning and I didn’t want to put it down!!
I loved the instant attraction Cooper and Meghan had from the interview they both were attracted to each other but they never acted on it until they snapped. And man did they snap it was HOT HOT HOT🥵!!
I loved that Cooper fell first and wanted to make Meghan his before she knew it! This is definitely one of my favorite office Romance reads ever!!
I highly recommend this book and I can’t wait for the next book in the series!!
Have to admit I didn't love Meghan at the start, but by the time I finished the book, I loved her. The book, I felt started out slow, but got better as I went along. I'm glad Meghan found her true love and learned how to be a better dresser! lol
This was bad. It’s definitely a DNF material, but it was late at night, I didn’t feel like starting a whole new book and this one was short enough to easily skim through in one sitting… Also, I wanted to see if it could get any worse. Turns out, it could. Many times over.
I’d like to say something nice about this story, trust me, but everything about it was so bad that even those little red Harlequin books on my grandma’s shelf wouldn’t touch it.
First off - think about any cliche in a cheap romance book and it’s there. All of them.
Rich billionaire boss? ✅ Shy assistant hiding her gorgeous curves in some atrocious outfits? ✅ (and she’s calling him Mr Jackson even in her fantasies, ffs!) She finally dresses nicely for an office Christmas party and suddenly they can’t keep their hands off of each other? ✅ Hotel screw up during a business trip so they have to share a room? ✅ Accidental pregnancy? ✅ She thought she heard him getting at it with his ex, so she runs away without actually checking, when she was going to come clean? ✅ Him finding her right before her waters broke (although for somebody who claimed to be soooo in love it took him a whole freaking pregnancy)? ✅ The whole soap opera level miscommunication trope that only gets resolved at the very end and makes them both look unbelievably dumb? ✅
If that wasn’t enough, my biggest romance book pet peeve was a cherry on top - they fell madly in lust, calling it love. They literally never had any conversation not revolving around work or sex, they met up only for sex… so who exactly did they fall in love with? They didn’t know each other, they just knew each other’s bodies. And we didn’t get to know them either. Those characters had no personalities, I could say absolutely nothing about their likes, dislikes, hobbies… nothing. I guess we also only knew their bodies, which makes it a badly executed smut book that wanted to be a romance, but wasn’t. And even the smut wasn’t really steamy, just some descriptions with a few cheesy lines and terminology your grandma would use, while blushing a bit.
Definitely not worth a read, but I’m tempted to check out the second book in the series, since it was a debut, so it can only get better from there.
"Tell me to stop. Tell me you don't want this and that I should turn around and leave."
DON'T TELL ANYONE is coming February 28 2023!
Meghan and Cooper's story contains: -an office romance -accidental pregnancy -he falls first -steamy scenes with a particularly eventful one in the office filling room
“Don’t tell anyone” is a spicy office romance, with fast pace, some angst and a variety of emotions.
I had a great time reading, or more accurately devouring this book and I was surprised to find out that this is the author’s first novel.
There were a few things that didn’t thrill me, like the miscommunication, or some things that weren’t explained like Meghan’s previous unpleasant experiences. As a successful lawyer, I’d expect Cooper to be better with words. And Meghan should learn from her mistakes instead of repeating them.
To sum up: Could it be better: yeah Will I read the next ones: hell yeah!
Yes, I love miscommunication. I love it when the characters mishear something or get jealous. I love it when the MMC is wrecked after they break up, to the point that he gets wasted for weeks and his friends have to stage an intervention. I also love it when the MMC cries, too, because his heart is broken. All this happens, plus a secret pregnancy in K.A. James’ Don’t Tell Anyone. And the spice is really good too.
I’ve been reading the book and what I like the most is how the characters are not perfect, usually in the books the male or female is the favorite of the author or of the reader. M and C are normal people with normal frustrations. Is a short book and very easy to read. I think that the author made a good balance between plot/smut/relationship M&C/romance/drama
Cooper and Meghan’s story was great. I loved the character development as it set up perfectly for other books. I found myself wondering what will happen with Alex in the future. I was slightly annoyed with Cooper’s lack of ability to communicate pretty much at all with Meghan most of the book. Otherwise, I felt like the plot was great and had a great amount of spice mixed in. A romance novel with a plot and spice.. what more could you ask for?
Such a great debut novel for KA James, looking forward to the next book in the series!
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This is K A James is debut book. Don’t tell anyone is Steamy office romance. Copper and Megan first meet when she turns up for her interview the chemistry is hot but Copper has a few issue from his past that has him seconding guessing. It is a truly fantastic read a few hard parts that had me tearing up but all in all a great read 4 1/2 ⭐️ Looking forward to book 2 not sure if I’m going to like Sebastian
Rated 3 stars (2.5 if I’m being honest) because 63% of the book is the two MC having sex; saying it would be the last time and then they were at it again. He’s her boss, she’s his assistant.
Anyway, the rest of the story (after 63% of sex) is miscommunications and these make the maturity level of the characters drop way down for me. There was a lot missing for me; the storyline lacked meat, the miscommunications were ridiculous, the overall flatness and underdevelopment of the characters left a lot out there.
And let’s chat about Alex, Meghan’s best friend Alex. If Meghan was my best friend I would drop her like a hot potato. Meghan left Alex at the club several times when running out with Cooper; Meghan and Alex lived in the same building but these two were not close at all. Meghan gets devastating news causing her to be a no show at work and sit in her apartment all day crying and sobbing, and she doesn’t call on her best friend for comfort, when Alex would be a support and also very sad because it would effect her as well? Cooper came to her apartment at practically 9PM to rescue the day. And to top it off Alex, who could be living in Manhattan chose to live in the same run down apartment building just to be close to Meghan.
Meghan to me was an awful friend.
I won’t be reading on because apparently the next book has cheating and that’s not for me.
Fantastic debut!!! It does NOT read like a first novel! KA James has a really unique and genuine voice and I completely fell for Cooper and Meghan!
I'm always a sucker for a good office romance, and even better when it's Boss/Assistant. This hit all the marks for me! Suppressed feelings, attempt at casual that does NOT work, work place quickies, and he falls first!
And the heat in this book... 🥵 Yes, please Mr. Jackson!!!
Bravo KA James! Can't wait for the next book! Alex and Sebastian are gonna be amazing!
A work-office romance between the big boss lawyer and his assistant. It is a light read but it irks me for some reason. There's miscommunication, assumptions, a separation period, and a surprise pregnancy.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I can not say enough good things about this book! I had the privilege to read this book when she was just writing it! I absolutely loved everything about this book. The dynamic between Meghan and Cooper is electric!
I liked this book. The base of the story could not be more common. Workplace romance, billionaire boss and his assistant, but with a twist, which was refreshing. Only thing I don't like the amount of miscommunication in this book. It was frustrating.
I enjoyed this series, but the frustration of being asked to rate a book every chapter or so from the half way mark, and continually, has resulted in a one star review just to enable me to get to the end. If this wasn't the author's intention. She needs to contact Amazon I was one click away from not finishing.
I loved this book. There were times I found myself laughing out loud and times where my heart hurt for Meghan and Cooper. Their relationship developed beautifully even with all the twists in this book!! I cannot wait to read Alex’s story next!
I really loved this book! It is well written. I love the characters and the storyline was fantastic. Without giving spoilers it's definitely a story that could happen in real life (well probably not with a rich man), but it's seems like it is relatable. It was so hard to put down, and I can not wait to read book 2! I would recommend adding this to your TBR!
Meghan and Cooper are annoyingly immature. It's hard to believe either is an adult or that one completed law school and is a top attorney. The inability to communicate was the entire and only plot to the book. The spice is barely there. The regular references at the start of the book to Meghan sad past, only to never explain, is irritating. There is one passing reference to being a waitress in that owl/orange shorts restaurant type attire and not liking how men ogled her (yes men should do better but also these places sell on the looks of their staff, not their subpar food, one should not be surprised by gross looks at an establishment making money off of appearance)
How is Cooper even a remotely okay attorney when he can't have a decent conversation. Oh, and he clearly has daddy issues.
Meghan is a drunk who likes to jump to conclusions instead of being an adult and discussing problems.
Alex and Seb story sounds like it will be equally revolting, if not worse, so I won't be wasting any further time on this series.
Overall I enjoyed the story. In parts it felt a bit disjointed and rushed as it jumped from scene to scene. There were also time jumps which me me feel disconnected as it didn’t feel organic.
When they had their trip to Miami I felt the whole section was rushed. It didn’t really have a foothold in the story and actually made me think of Meghan negatively. She seemingly flirted with the client, touched his knee and came across as being unprofessional. We got to read Cooper being jealous, but that was about it, there was barely any interactions written and then it rushed forward to a week later. I felt there was missed opportunity to really connect to the characters and even if they didn’t interact in a romantic way, there could’ve been a sweet scene written back at the hotel that could’ve enriched the whole scene and made the trip feel like it was necessary to the story.
As a reader I need a good balance. The inner monologue, actual dialogue and the who what when. There was a bit too much left unsaid.
I can’t put my finger on it, but at times it felt contrived. I think because there didn’t seem to be much emotional connection and we didn’t know much about them. I felt like we hadn’t read that much about any real time they spent together, other than in the bedroom. The second half of the book hit its stride a bit better, but there wasn’t enough dialogue of them getting to know each personally. I know sometimes we need to read between the lines, but there has to be a basis of a relationship and natural interactions for us to believe that their connection is real. It felt like I was reading it through the eyes of the author and saw what she wanted to write…rather than sitting back and enjoying the characters journey of intimacy, connection and romance.
Meghans reasonings towards the end were a bit nonsensical. I don’t want to give too many spoilers, but she left for a reason, and then didn’t still communicate that reason even months later. She didn’t want to get hurt BUT, she was already hurt by what she misunderstood, so what was the difference? It also meant she’d kept something major from cooper. Perhaps it’s just me, but I dislike miscommunication when it can solved really quickly by a few sentences. Cooper knew something that would stop Meghan from feeling hurt and Meghan used fear as an excuse not to confront him, even though she was already hurt….it’s was a bit dramatic and made me feel frustrated. Then my frustration was increased by Cooper saying “I know I should’ve told you sooner.” Conversations kept being shelved until later, which really really made me angry. It’s different when the reasonings are deep rooted, but not when I feel like the characters could’ve said two sentences for it to be resolved. Drama for the sake of drama is not my favourite to read.
There were some parts that were really well written. Meghans grief felt palpable, that really came through the writing and out from the page.
I really liked Alex’s story being interwoven and it sets the next book up nicely which I’m looking forward to reading.

Cooper & Meghan: A beautiful courtship, but there were a few missteps
Cooper was smitten at first glance. The moment he laid eyes on Meghan, the woman applying for the job as his assistant. The attraction was mutual. After a crazy night together, they both agree to keep things strictly professional. If only they could keep their hands off one another!
I really enjoyed this book. One of the main reasons why I enjoyed it was because we mostly got to see the "falling in love" POV from the Hero's perspective. It was refreshing not being inside the heroine's head for most of the book and experience how it is when the hero falls in love first. Cooper was so adorable with his possessive nature towards Meghan. Meghan was very likeable and sweet. It was easy to root for her and them as a couple.
However, there were a few issues that didn't make sense and foreshadowing of the main characters that were revealed but never really addressed by the books end.
First, the author pointed out that Meghan dressed in baggy clothes and very conservative due to something that occurred in her past. However, the reason why was never brought out or addressed in the book. Furthermore, Meghan started dressing very provocatively at work and when going out with her gal pal, even though she felt uncomfortable with the clothes and the attention. When did that change? The explanation of "my friend made me wear it" was lame and thin. This was the excuse constantly used and it seemed to be a reach as far as I'm concerned.
Cooper appeared to have a valid gripe against his father and the fact that his dad was unfaithful to his mother. What I don't understand is that if he had such a problem with his father and loathed him like he said, why would he accept a company from him to run? Again, the logic here is paper thin.
There were also huge gaps in their story where we jumped from present time to two months later, then seven months later, then a year later, then 18 months later... I felt like I was in some sort of TARDIS, quantum leaping through time. It was too much to be crammed into one book and an editor should have caught this. Nevertheless, I'm not mad at the book and the plot was excellent. This just could have been better with proper editing.
Don’t Tell Anyone is the first book I read from author KA James and let me just say that it’s captivating. I couldn’t put it down when I started reading it.
The storyline is easy to follow and understand. The overall character development is great and it was nice to see Cooper work on himself. I really liked how the supporting characters added to the story and I cannot wait for the next book.
“You’re such a good girl for me, aren’t you?” ~Cooper
Cooper is handsome, cocky, dirty talking, possessive alpha. He’s successful in business but will he be successful in love? I really enjoyed reading about Cooper and his growth throughout the story.
“Please, Cooper… I need you.” ~Meghan
Meghan is funny, sassy, independent, strong 💪 and beautiful. Everything changes when she moves to New York and meets billionaire Cooper Jackson.
This story will have your feelings riding a roller coaster 🎢 of emotions. You will cry your eyes out but you will also laugh and feel all giddy. The spice 🌶️🌶️ will have you wet for a while other reason 🥵😉.
The desire has both of them agreeing to rules. Will she break her own rules first? Don’t Tell Anyone is a office place romance trope with secret pregnancy.
Don’t Tell Anyone Out February 28,2023
Don’t Tell Anyone by KA James is definitely ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
"If you so much as breathe in her direction, I will end you"
"Because you'll be mine and nobody touches what's mine"
"You set me on fire"
"I could spend an eternity kissing her"
Well, I don't know why I'm so late to the KA James party but sign me up pronto because I want more of her books.
Billionaire, spicy office romances seem to be my thing at the moment and let's just say I'd break all the rules with Cooper! I literally fell for him straightaway. So much so, that I messaged the author right away to tell her he was all types of special. I loved everything about him.
Meghan has been working as Coopers Assistant for a year. During this time she has been lusting for him but has always managed to remain professional. She is shy and quiet but when she shows up to the Christmas Office Party in a killer dress things take a turn. She doesn't know that her boss has been secretly lusting after her too. When things escalate a steamy affair begins but Meghan's got rules and wants them to be obeyed. But of course rules are for breaking.
I really enjoyed the character development with Meghan's character and it was great getting to see her come out of her shell as she became more comfortable in herself with the help of her friend, Alex. I enjoyed their friendship and liked how Alex was always in her corner.
I liked getting small snippets into the world of lawyers through Cooper. And I loved that he fell first and hard. That's always so enjoyable to read. There are some really heartwarming scenes in this book and in particular the way he supported Meghan through the loss of a loved one was heart melting.
This is perfect for fans off billionaires, workplace romances and lots and lots of steam. I loved this book and am looking forward to reading Alex's story next.
