Carl Jung once said, "Show me a sane man and I will cure him for you." It was funnier when you sat in a chair across from those who deemed themselves 'crazy' everyday. All the while, there were demons dancing around in the back of your skull, screaming at you, reminding you that you weren't really worthy of telling them how to deal with their problems. Sure, I possessed the means to help them in all the ways science had determined I could, but for the past six months, my past had been trying to catch up with me and all I'd been doing was avoiding it. Emilia Clare and her partners were proof enough that the running route didn't work, yet they themselves were part of my problem.
One persistent bastard might actually have a chance at tearing down my carefully constructed walls, but I didn't want what his life offered, nor did I have any desire to face what lay beyond those walls. My sister and my dads were hovering on the outskirts of my sanity, only driving me closer to the edge. In my profession, there was no shortage of stress and trauma. Those I could handle. It was the problems that were closer to home that were the actual threat, lying dormant for so long, I'd almost forgotten they existed at all. Almost.
You never forgot the things that shaped you. Hurt you. Split you in two. After all, they were called 'formative years' for a reason.

We are now on the 4th book of the series. Did I ugly cry? Yes, I did!! This book hit some deep emotions within me. We are learning more about Kade & Todd’s backstory and the weight it can carry on a person as they grow into themselves. We are so happy that our Tater Todd has become part of our chaos polyamorous. The character growth has so much strength. The depth that tugs at the heart and you just want to give our leads the love they deserve and a safe space to let themselves bloom. The series still has heavy mental illness battles and heavy dark moments. The smut! Make sure you have a cooling device nearby. Must Read series. It’s so relatable and hits your heart with a heavy punch!
Favorite Quotes: “Stop being a bitch, Enger. I’ll put laxatives in your coffee.” “You’re not allowed to join in on pranks. your mind is too dark.”
“All of me was made for you, baby.”
“A child shouldn’t be responsible for their parents’ shortcomings.”
“You have to stop thinking you need to be like everyone else to be extraordinary.”
My Rating System: 1 star: Probably DNF - Lacks structure - Grammatical Errors - Boring characters 2 stars: Not a fan - Struggled to finish - Won't reread - Lacked personality - Lacked storyline 3 stars: Neutral - Underwhelmed - Nothing special - Like the book but we're still troubled by a few components 4 stars: Enjoyed - Concept unique - Dialogue felt real - Invested in characters - Missing cherry on top 5 stars: Creme de la creme - It's addictive - Emotional Impact - Highly Recommend - Feels like you are part of the book
‘Maybe this was how mortals felt when they gave offerings to gods. They just wanted to please them and gain their favor.’ - Tater Todd. 🖤
Man… this book… A chaotic ride of emotions, things going great then BAM, shit storm comes in hard. Then you think it’s all on the up and Madilyn is like ‘haha no, get wrecked’ and backhands me with the most emotional shit I’ve ever read. 😭 Pretty sure I squealed towards the end, I know I teared up.
Character growth is so strong in this book, even if Em pissed me off for a lil bit but she is like my twin so that explains why. 🤷🏻♀️ But the sexy scenes? 👀 Man I would be lying if I said I wasn’t squirming. The heat in them is just 🥵 we love a dominant king, you know who you are 😏 but damn, the spice be SPICY!
The depth and emotions felt from these characters is so relatable tugs at the heart more times than I can even count. I was in my feelings the whole time reading.
From the first page of Faded Pages to the last page of Muted Verse, it is a ride you need to strap in for. Picture a terrifying carnival ride, you are going along and everything is going nicely then the bottom drops out and it feels like you are free falling to your death... Then by some act of God you even out and return to the nice leisurely ride... Just to have the bottom fall out again. The grip that this entire series has had on me is incredible. I can honestly say that I happily lost sleep in my attempt to devour this book. Highly recommend this entire series!!!
Character development: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The level of writing that it takes to develop the emotional attachment to fictional characters that Madilyn achieves with her books is second to none.
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ I will hopefully never need to use the details for the things that I now know are possible, but I have been EDUCATED(?) 😉
This series gets me every time. I love it. It’s so emotional though.
This Fantastic Contemporary Romance is book 4 in the From Yesterday to Always Series. There are some darker topics, and mental health problems. Please check all trigger warnings before reading. The Romance revolves around a polyamorous relationship. There is some pre established relationships, as well as some new ones developing. This book is spicy, and the scenes are descriptive. Due to there only being one FMC, and multiple MMCs make sure you are comfortable with m/m relationships before starting this book. The book moves at a quick pace following one of the MMCs developing an outside relationship from his poly group. He will have to over come his own emotional trauma, as well as be there for the new love interests past, and present trauma. The characters are great. This book really focuses more on a MMC, and one of the previous introduced key characters in the story. I enjoyed learning more about both of them. The world building is done in contemporary times. Many of the issues, and situations are things some people struggle with everyday. This makes the story more realistic, and easy to connect to.
First, if you have not read anything by this author, give them a try! Another wonderful author out of our beautiful PNW!! This series is an awesome one. Be sure to read the trigger list, and if you are okay with it, start with book 1! You really will enjoy the ride.
If you enjoyed the first three books in this series and want to experience what we already suspect but with some additional plot twists, be sure to pick this one up.
The author has done a wonderful job continuing the plot and character growth along with their dynamics. Why 4 stars and not 5? Because this book wasn't as good as the first three - I didn't think this book had as good of a storyline as it could have been. However, this book is still a great one.
I'm guessing there will be a book 5. Either that or there will be a spin-off series (not unrealistic, I would think..). I still look forward to see what the author chooses to do.
I'm really glad that I was able to read an advance review copy of this book. I truly enjoy this author's work and look forward to continuing to read their material in the future!

My lord! I need a long lie down in a darkened room with a cold compress on my head after this one…
It's rare that you follow characters and 'feel' them grow but this author has certainly honed that craft. This is book 4 in the 'From Yesterday to Always' series and you are best advised to read them in rote. You simply won't regret it and that's not an empty promise. There are triggers and it is certainly an emotional ride so check those out.
We have one h - Em - and several MMCs and plenty of MM love in what is an incredibly erotic, steamy series that could ignite a bush fire. If you read this series at the height of Summer turn up the AC to max.
It's more than just spice though, it is romantic, it's emotionally draining, it is gut wrenching and it is addictive. DeRose has produced a page turning series.

Madilyn has done it again! The story of Em and her boys once again took me for a spin. The relationship between them has a beautiful dynamic and the intrigues are well developed. They have all been through so much and it finally seemed as if they had found their happy place when things started to seem out of order. I love the characters, they all have a more or less damaging past but are working through it in their ways, and in this book, we get a chance to get to know their psychiatrist more as well. I love this series, the books are so good that I can’t put them down once I start reading and I never know where it will end.
This isn’t your ordinary love story. It’s an emotional ride. If you ever read the first books, you know that is MMF and Madilyn throws another male! One of her males falls for Todd and she can’t lie ether she sure did as well. But here’s the thing our hottie foreigner hasn’t told her a thing about who it is yet and oh my oh my! I absolutely got sucked into this world of Em and I’m slightly jealous 😘😅
This was a great book. As you dive into this story of these characters was mind blowing darkness and passion. I was on the edge of my seat and I couldn’t even put it down. The chemistry between them was beautiful and romance. But the physical attraction was steamy and sensation. As things will change their lives forever . I definitely recommend this book and you won’t be disappointed. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. Trina Jones
This series is raw and emotional! And holy plot twist!!!!!! The dynamic between Kade, Todd, em, and Alden is amazing and thrilling and raw. They all work to interconnect their foursome all while battling each of their own demons! You learn more of Kade’s trauma and Todd’s childhood. Their love is beautiful and made of the same star dust❤️ Madilyn DeRose has done it again!
This book series definitely grew on me! I am going to miss these characters so much. Muted Verse is the fourth book in From Yesterday To Always book series by Madilyn DeRose. This is a book with some unhinged characters who complete each other. The character building is amazing. It also gives a better understanding of polyamory relationships. I was completely blown away by the ending of this book!
