She has suffered immeasurable loss—the Triad, her powers, her memory, her freedom.
With no memory of the man who stole her from the arena when she was so close to victory, Paige can only feel betrayed by Aeden Fireborne, the last Dragon Heir and heir to the fallen kingdom of Vizna. Now confined by her over-bearing enemy under his so-called protection, Paige longs to escape and claim what is rightfully hers.
He will always protect her, even if it has to be from himself.
When Aeden swept in on the back of his bonded dragon to rescue the love of his life, he had one goal in mind—protect her at all costs. He knew she would not have survived her final trial, not with her father working against her to ensure that she lost. The hate in her eyes is agonizing, but he will accept being called her enemy if that’s what it takes to keep her safe.
Now hunted, they are forced to find refuge and work together as they learn more about their powers. Paige sets her eyes on the throne of Prydia, but her growing feelings for her enemy get in the way. When Aeden discovers a secret that threatens to destroy everything he’s fought for, he is forced to make a choice that could end him.
If you love romantasy with well written, toe-curling spice, you need this series in your life!! I am SO thrilled to share one of my newest romantasy obsessions: the Mora Chronicles by E.S. Portman!! Brilliant character-driven storytelling, beautiful worldbuilding/Magic systems, and YES—plenty of spice!!
🔥Of Air and Fire (book 1) 🌶️🌶️ 🩸Of Fire and Blood (book 2) 🌶️🌶️🌶️
What to Expect: —(One-Sided) Enemies-to-Lovers —Dual POV Chapters —Banter, Tension, and Spice —Forced Proximity —Only One Bed —Elemental Magic —Dragons, Mermaids, and More!
Enormous thank you to the author for gifting me a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review! All thoughts and opinions expressed above belong entirely to me.
Starting of 2025 with a banger book. E.S. Portman knew what she was doing when she wrote this sequel which may be even better than book 1. The writing was immersive and the trope which I preferred in this book was the Found Family was probably the best thing in this book. Oh ofc Ikelos and Eoghan come in maybeeee a bit before. And do we have to talk about the juicy scenes, what wasn't in book 1 was abundantly given in book 2.
What I unfortunately did not like was how obsessed Aeden was, because in this case I can only think of it as an obsession, how Aeden treated Paige, it made my skin crawl, those parts for me were way too much repetitive but taking those out and adding the fact that I would have liked seeing more scenes with our darling dragon this is a solid sequel, and with that ending? I can't wait to see what book 3 will have in store for us.
What you'll find in this book: -Found Family -Magical creatures -Complicated magic -amnesia -spicy scenes
wow, just wow, this was a slow burn spicy read. loved the chemistry between Paige and Aeden. Paige is so stubborn, and Aeden is so protective of her. But the cliffhanger, gahhhhh
Tropes: One sided enemies to lovers Elemental Magic Fantasy/Mythical Creatures One Bed Found Family Lgbt rep Forced Proximity Touch Her and Die Amnesia Dual POV
What a journey! Book 2 of the Mora Chronicles delivered! Picking up not long after book 1 left off (that cliffhanger), we're faced with the fact that Paige doesn't remember Aeden and instead hates him now! I was pissed. I mean, AEDEN! He's just cinnamon roll perfect MMC! But he does what Aeden does best, and proves over and over that every move, every thought and feeling is for Paige. I just love Aeden!
Does that mean I dislike Paige? UH NO! Our girl lost her memories, that's intense. But the SLOW BURN that we have in this book is everything! It was perfect, enough I was starting to go crazy like I'm sure Aeden was HAHA. I loved it. I love Paige's personality- she's fiesty, strong, and independent but she knows deep down that she needs Aeden too.
Side characters! I LOVE them all. I think my unexpected fav was Lee. Yes, Leander.
Overall, I'm ready for Aeden, Paige, and friends to kick some Gedeon ass, but making sure all the banter is still there!
“I'd scour the ends of Aellethia to find her and bring her back to me, where she belonged.” *** Beta read- July 20-24 Arc read- Sept 5-8 *** ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
Thank you E.S. Portman for the gifted arc!
Ugh I’m so beyond happy to be back in this world! Book one was such an amazing read, but this book is something special 😌 so many twists, some angsty romance, and all the lovable characters!
The plot is definitely leaning more towards the romance in this one, but we still had plenty of political development! I truly wasn’t expecting some of the twists that happened in this one 😌
Our MCs have developed so much since book one! Paige has becoming much more confident and feisty, yet still stays true to her caring nature 🫶 Aeden is incredibly fiery (pun intended) and fiercely protective of the people he cares for 🥹❤️
“He was kind and soft to those he loved but nothing but pure stone and fire to those he didn’t.”
Our side characters are so fun and I love them 🥰 Seamus and Eoghan are my favs fr.
The romance is so fun in this one! We have unrequited love on one side and enemies to lovers on the other (screams tension and banter) 👀 yet the deep, emotional development is so beautiful and I adored watching them fall in love again 🥹
“Call me whatever you want, My Queen. As long as you’re the one calling it, it will do no wrong.”
That ending was crazy so I’ll be crying until book three comes out 🥲
E.S. Portman you did it again. This is the second book in the mora chronicles I loved it so much at first Paige was kinda a pain in the butt. But honestly with what she was going through it made a whole lot of sense. After trying to defeat the triad and being rescued by Aeden to forgetting him it was a whole rollercoaster of emotion. They both definitely grew a lot in this book you can tell Aeden really does protect the people he loves a lot. He is probably one of my book boyfriends and the slow burn is uggggg to die for I can’t wait for everyone to start this journey and read these books .
P.s. if you thought the first cliffhanger was crazy wait till you get to the second one :) 🥺

Some series fall to the sophomore slump and you find book 2 not as good as the first. That is NOT the case here! I would say the opposite, I found book 2 better!! Book 1 is great and really builds the world, creates the characters, and helps you understand the magic system. However, book 2 really dives into the story and relationships.
E.S. Portman…..I have no words. The second book in a series can always be tricky and damn if you didn’t hit it right on the head! Book 2 was so amazing. The continued dual POV and extraordinary character growth is so fun for the reader to experience. Aedan continued to pull at the heartstrings (he’s utterly perfect in a golden retriever way 😆). Paige’s story took many twists and turns to get to the end and it was quite the rollercoaster for the reader. I’m not sure if I’m biased because *duh* dragons but I’m obsessed with Varasyn. Her grumpy mother hen vibe is so fun! We see old characters and new ones, along with different parts of the world. E.S. Portman, I need book 3 asap because I’m never going to stop thinking about that ending!
No words. IT WAS SO GOOD. Plot was great. Characters were great. Dual point of view. Chefs kiss. I cannot recommend this book enough. The world building is amazing. The changes in the plot the twists and turns were perfection. The ending 😭😭 cannot wait for the next book in this series.
The cliffhanger??? I need the next book so baddd!! The slow burn and spice was 🤌✨ the plot twist was mind blowing and I’m still in shock someone pls pinch me !!! I can’t wait for ppl to read this book!!
This is the best execution of the memory loss trope that I’ve ever read! I loved every part of the emotional journey Paige went through and the romance attached to that. I also loved the aspect of the lost kingdom for Aeden, and getting the smallest glimpse into what Gedeon’s motivations might be. I NEED the next book ASAP!!
I was so excited to read this after how good the first book was. This was so disappointing. It lacked direction, no decent character development, and the teenage angst was so boring by half way through. I finished it because surely something had to happen?! Nope. I’m so disappointed.
The Mora Chronicles just keep improving. We see character development, a thickened plot, then a twist that makes you say “whaaaAAAT!” Things start adding up, things are introduced, and some characters make you feel all the good… and bad emotions.
All of our favorite characters are along for the ride 🫶🏻 With some new ones 😉
I honestly don’t even know where to begin on this review. I am OBSESSED with this book/series. Of Fire and Blood is the perfect follow up to Of Air and Fire. This is a very vague review because I am going to do my best to avoid spoilers, just an FYI.
Paige and Aeden both have so much character development in this book it’s just perfect. Paige is still our stubborn FMC and Aeden is still our “touch her and you die” MMC, but they grow so much in this book. The twists and turns in their personal developments were so unexpected.
I fell in love with the supporting characters in the first book, but I am obsessed with all of them. Each of their stories gets flushed out more in book 2, questions that were burning from book 1 are answered. Each side character have their own plot twists that I didn’t see coming. I could literally read books about each side character because I love all of them so much.
The imagery in this novel is amazing. You legitimately feel like you’re living in Aellethia. Elsa has a way with words and clearly I’m obsessed.
Of Fire and Blood ends on the BIGGEST cliff hanger and I cannot wait for book 3.
Thank you so much to for taking a chance on me and allowing me to Beta read this book. I cannot wait to read everything you write in the future.
PS: You’re paying for my therapy ❤️
Favorite Quote: “We all have demons, dear girl. It is what we do with those demons that defines us. You’d do well to remember that.”
Bonus fav: “Please don’t forget that. No matter what happens, we love each other. I love you endlessly, Paige. Go beyond the Stars and the after. You will always have all of me.”

5 ⭐️ I am in love with this series and ready for book number three!
What I loved: Continued Dual POV- I got to deep dive into the mind of our main characters again. With so much character development in book one I wasn’t expecting the emotional growth from the characters in this book but without that growth this book would have not been as successful because our characters would have fallen flat.
Even pacing- the story is well paced just like book one. I never felt that certain events needed more or less time on paper.
Enemies-to-lovers (one sided)- she hates him, he loves her. The banter is just too fun!
Touch her and you die (or burn)- but in the most respectful way possible. Towards the end I was really really nervous this was going to hurt Aeden. He was able to lay down his expectations in such a way that I feel like he gained more respect than disdain from his newfound peers.
Supporting characters- throughout this book I got to learn a little more about each of the supporting characters which made me fall in love with them even more. Possibly even more than our main characters in this book. In book one I was prepared for backstabbing of some kind but hearing their back stories allowed for me to trust them in supporting the MCs on this journey.
Slow burn with spice that’s just straight up feral. FERAL! 😼
I f*cking can't with this anymore. I stopped at about 70%
The first book started out fine and offered a good amount of basis for a broader storyline. But WHY does an author have to force the enemies to lovers trope? There was no actual point in making about 60% of the book about it. WHY was Aeden such a lovestruck fool? Like every second sentence is: I love her, she's amazing, I can hardly keep it in my pants. And that's looking at Paige, who is just as facetteless as they come. Just liking to read books does not make a person smart. She also doesn't seem strong in any way, considering what she contributed so far or how she held herself in any situation. There is no character development for both whatsoever. Also: It's okay to have romance as the main identifier and the plot just enveloping it. But why make it feel so artificial? Why not go with the friends to lovers trope and let them discover the depth of their bond from there? It would've made for smoother storytelling. I'm mad I spent time on this.
That ending. Holy crap and now I have to wait until the next book. I do not find this ending acceptable 😩😩😩
So much happened in this book, a lot of questions answered and just as many new ones presented. I love how traumatized Paige is portrayed and how it impacts her personality. I think it’s written well.
The banter with all the couples makes me laugh and suits all the individual relationships well, not just the main characters.
I also am glad we find out more about the MMC bloodline.
The FMC …. I hope he gets his in the next book because that type of sire since he doesn’t deserve to be called a father needs to be put down.
****I received an advance copy of this book for review purposes. While I was provided with a copy, a review was never required, and all opinions are my own

What in the world did I just read?? The angst was killing me, and the love story between Aiden and Paige? Absolutely swoon worthy.
-friends to lovers -elemental magic -you’re mine/protective MMC -dragons -found family
All of the amazing tropes you found in the first book, but with more! As I suspected after the first book, there was A LOT more spice in this book. Like, alot.
And the cliff hanger?? 😱 you guys……the twist at the end has me gasping for book three.
Thank you so much Elsa for providing me with the arc!
This is the second book in the Mora Chronicles and honestly after the cliffhanger book 1 left us on I was ready to dive back into this world.
Firstly- I did not expect how the book started and without giving away spoilers 😉 I loved how the slow burn from book 1 continued but in a surprising way.
Secondly- Paige and Aeden, their stubbornness and determination just makes me love them more and more with every page turn.
Thirdly- the motley crew of supporting cast grew in book 2 and there were plenty of plot twists, which was a wonderful add to the story.
Fourthly- the slow burn turns steamy! 🌶️🌶️🌶️ and then the moment we’ve been waiting 1.5 books for happens and it didn’t disappoint. 🥵
Fifthly, lastly, and the most devastating the second cliffhanger…okay this cliffhanger was a MAJOR plot twist I didn’t see coming and my heart feels like it’s been run over by a truck that then backs over it again. 😫
I’m devastated that I have to wait for book 3 to see what happens but I’m loving this story!
Paige is unbearable in this book. I feel like she had a complete personality switch just because she lost her memories of her mom and Aiden. I get that she was mad at Aiden for taking her from the triad and putting her in a cage, but she was acting so childish. It didn't make sense to me that she hated Aiden for months, when he's been nice to her and told her they love each other, but she formed a friendship with Nya so fast when she works for her father. I feel like she would have warmed up to Aiden a lot faster and not have made him an enemy. Other than that, I like where the story is going. I'm looking forward to the next book now that we have passed all the relationship drama.
I am obsessed with this series and author. Paige, Aeden, and this world have monopolized my mind and all of my thoughts. I can’t put into words how much I love this story and world that E.S. Portman has created. Not only is she a master at creating an intoxicating story, but she makes you fall in love with every character regardless of how big a role they play. I can not recommend these books enough, especially if you love romantasy and are looking for something new! And the ending!!! I don’t think I will be ok until I get my hands on book 3!
Great second book to of Air and Fire. The story unfolded more, we got more backstory, more world building and more amazing side characters. They really made this book a fun read for me. It also picked up some of the plot holes I felt the first book had, and while I struggled with the writing style of that one, this one was a fun and easy read without those struggles! And the yearning 🥵 the tension 🥵 perfectly executed!! Can't wait for book 3 after that cliffhanger of an ending.
After all that. Imagine still believing in love after growing up thinking no one loved you. Imagine having to make the love of your life fall back in love with you after she couldn’t remember who you were and now hated you.
This one was heavy on the emotions and romance. One thing I’m certain after this is that Aeden’s love is unrelenting.
Such an amazing read, don't know why it took me so long to finish. And that ending ? I need moreeeee! The main characters, side characters, the world, the story line it was so amazing I couldn't get enough. Him making sure she gets stronger, help her remember him and make sure the world don't try to kill them. Can't wait to see they else Paige and Aeden get into on the next one ♡
This book is absolutely AMAZING! The plot twists are great and were totally unexpected. I can’t wait for the sequel! If you love fantasy and romance, I highly recommend this series!
