only reason i finished this was bc im behind on my reading goal. i learned my lesson that a shorter book does NOT mean i will read it fast.

This is so good! Probably one of my new favorite books. Whatever expectations I had for The Frog Prince retelling in this set were, this soared past them.
Georgia and Forrest were both absolutely fantastic. You could really feel Forest's hopelessness, knowing that his curse was going to be his end. And then you get Georgia's absolute zest for life and freedom, which has been limited since her sister was taken by the fae. And their flirtatious teasing? More of that please.
Speaking of more, I'm so glad Clara is getting a book because I knew I wasn't done with her after being introduced.
The foreshadowing and twists were all done perfectly, and now all I want to do is reread this to see if I catch some hints earlier on. I'll take whatever Everest wants to write in this world, warts and all.

I enjoyed all the characters minus the bad guys ofc. I found each character to be unique with a unique voice and they were really easy to identify. Georgia and Forrest together were the sweetest, I loved their banter and how things developed.

Don't remember reading The Frog Prince before so I can't comment on that, but I enjoyed the story and the love story. The fae world was so nicely done and I love it when characters can shapeshift into some ordinary forms and be so cute. The pace was just right and I felt I read it quite quickly. The story has some sexual tension and a tiny bit of slow-burn romance with enemies to lovers. The slow-burn romance was comically made because both of them were slipping through the cracks and did things they weren't supposed to which made the story have some funny moments.

I'd say the spice in the story is round 3 flame peppers, you get a sex scene but is not overly detailed, I'd say is more on the erotic side and was beautifully made.

I received an ARC of this book and am leaving a review voluntarily.
I don’t see a lot of retellings of the Frog Prince. Given the limits of the original fairy tale, it makes me more excited when I do find one. And when it’s as well done as this one, I am in heaven.
I feel the need to comment on that gorgeous cover. It does its job of grabbing my interest, holding my attention and making me want to know more. And I WILL have it on my shelf!
The characters are such fun to follow. They have great personalities on their own but when you get them together, it’s even better. Their banter is beautiful to witness! And the chemistry is…perfect.
The magic system, setting and everything else just adds icing on a wonderful cake.
I look forward to the next fairy tale!

At first, I wasn't a huge fan. I was finding the story dull. I didn't want to finish it, but because I can't dnf, I pushed through. Normally pushing through doesn't change my ratings, but in this case, it did. I absolutely loved the ending. I love how everything unraveled with Forest's curse, the Unseelie Queen, the court betrayer, and Georgia and her sisters. It worked. The slowness of the beginning worked when combined with the pacing of the ending. Of course it was slow to help describe how much Forest was deteriorating mentally and physically. Yet, when the Forest and Georgia started falling in love and working together, the pacing picked up. The story may not have started the best but it ended on such a high note.

I loved this fabulously swoony enemies-to-lover retelling of The Frog Prince in a fae setting! Warts’n’all indeed.
Love all the substitutions - enchanted prince is fae, the golden ball is a golden shell and it’s not vanity that has the princess running off, not honouring her side of the bargain, it’s how the request/demand was made. Loved how cleverly the author weaved Belle’s meanderings from the Beaty&Beast plotline into this tale. Forrest and Georgia were adorable - the flirting through letters and even nagging, I truly enjoyed seeing them fall in love. Half of the book reads like a Regency romance and then you get to the naughty bits. ;) Will keep an eye out for Harry’s HEA, hope that’s yet to come.
Redcap smith/jeweler was a brill move - forging swords as an outlet of aggression and bloodthirst, absolutely! And now I kinda wish I had that grimoire - Forrest’s Book of Iron for myself. I loved the enchanting style and captivating lull of the story. Character as well as plot-driven book - which is rare. The chapter art illustrations were fab as well and echoed the cover. And that dash of humour in the epilogue….swoon!
Recommended for lovers of fairytale retellings and fae lore, enemies-to-lovers and grumpy sunshine MMCs.

Okay this girl has no reign on her emotions. i'm sorry but she needed to know that emotions in probably life or death situation will ultimately get people you care or you killed. But anyways she was fine I guess. She was the reason why this story was 2 stars. I hated how pick me she was. And how she was still on her sister's disappearance. She needed for depth than those grief moments. Also girl don't you be like "oh that's so much." NOT IN THIS ECONOMY!! Fine Forrest doesn't need to give you jewels or dresses, matter of fact why don't we just kick you out of the castle since you think it's "too much" like seriously but anywaysshe had some good qualities. Wait i'll be like the Fae and not lie, she had none.

She was his only way to break the two curses. Force to live like a man in the moonlight, force to be the slimy disgusting frog in daylight. But it's not just the discovery of others knowing, his secrets. But a bigger threat will come. The Seelie and the Unseelie will war, the humans will be in destruction mode.
Forrest was amazing I love this guy and hey, if he gets tired of Georgia, i'm here. I'll gladly volunteer 🙋. I will say though there were some moments where I wanted to shake some sense into him. But overall he wasn't that bad, sure in the beginning he was a prick. But like dude was cursed twice, and could die any second so I guess I needed some pity on him. He was the saving grace to this book.

These two honestly rocked the whole freaking story. Yes they were side characters, yes I saw budding romance maybe between them. And Yes I think I need Harry's love story. Really was that reason I gave the other star to this two star book.

Now important question is would I recommend this story to anybody? and that is no. skip this. Sadly this author didn't know how to make a character less pick me. Overall bad book, don't read it. the characters were shit except Forrest.

I had book withdrawal after reading Kissed by Songs of Lilies. What an incredible Frog Prince retelling! E. V. Everest’s writing is so beautiful and descriptive. The reader is immediately immersed in a humid, seaside kingdom where the fae rule a misty island off the coast. The FMC, Princess Georgia, inadvertently makes a bargain with a bullfrog, who just so happens to be the fae king, Forrest. By the rules of the bargain, Georgia is betrothed to Forrest, who takes her from her kingdom to the fairy realm. Forrest soon learns that his betrothed is not easily bought.
Can Forrest be honest enough with Georgia, and can she learn to trust him after he deceived her?
Everest created such incredible characters in a stunning world. I love how strong and determined Georgia is—she is unafraid to work hard and speak her mind. Forest is a great tormented (and cursed) character, and each supporting character is incredible. There are many subtle layers to the story that make it rich and nuanced.
I am so excited to see Clara’s story, and I hope we see more of Georgia and Forrest. Their banter was timed perfectly, and I loved their chemistry. There are also so many supporting characters that I want to know more about!

A sweet romantasy retelling of the frog prince, with elements of beauty and the beast. This was a creative twist with Fae bargains, regency style setting, and a slow burn enemy to lover romance. I loved the banter in the letters exchanges, and the touches of magic.

Oh how I love fairy tale retellings! And this one was really good! The Frog Prince but with fae.
A twice cursed fae king, a stolen bride, a lingering war between three realms, slowburn love, a little bit of spice, intrigues, magic, fae lore…what else do you need?
And she even incorporated „iron Harry“, the loyal right hand to the cursed king. Something that most retellings or fairy tale books leave out. Now I hope he will find love too (maybe get his own story or as a sidecharacter again, fingers crossed).

The overall story was cute and charming. I wished there was more interactions between the two mains to help us understand their building affections. Most of the time he wasn’t around and their interactions were few and far between. Then when we were finally getting 5 full days of them being together, it basically all wrapped up in a couple paragraphs. This would have been a perfect opportunity for them to truly fall in love and make it more heartbreaking when she left. Instead I lost interest and just skimmed the final couple of chapters.

This book was so gorgeous, so sweet, so heavenly magical, I fell under it's spell immediately! Or, should I rather say, the author charmed the pants off me! This is my first EV Everest read and glory was I enchanted and bewitched with her storytelling! Somehow, Ms Everest combined EVERYTHING sublimely! And took me down a path of sheer joy! Entertaining me gloriously! Making me cheer and yelp at the rapturous conclusion in this distinctly imaginative retelling. Good? Geez! Top notch is what comes to mind!
Free spirited, carefree, simple, is how Georgia wishes her life was but she's a princess, and princesses are supposed to be graceful, and charming and attentive and smiling, doing menial tasks, making the right clicking noises, which Georgia tries her utmost to comply with. She accepts her duties, grudgingly, one being a suitable marriage match. Ok, her FATHER wants her to, not she... SHE'D rather run for the hills than marry some twice her age man! A chance meeting with a dashingly handsome man sets a whole different ball rolling.... EVERYONE knows one shouldn't make a deal with a Fae, they twist and use it to their advantage. To be fair, Georgia had no idea WHO he was or that her innocent words would be so misconstrued!
Forrest, THAT charming and handsome fella, is actually the Fae king, under a curse, one he cannot break and it's affecting him badly. Not only is he forced into frog form, soul rot has started to take a hold. When he realises Georgia's bloodline, well, he HAD to try, didn't he? To lift the curse of course, not because she lit up something in him... I thoroughly enjoyed their cat and mouse dance and oh my word did I chuckle at the notes Georgia and Forrest sent each other! I loved loved loved how they both tried to deny their feelings, how they tried to skirt around what they felt was right and the intimate click when they realised, 'oh heck, I'm in too deep'. Both these characters were pure pleasure to embrace. And embrace them I did, wholeheartedly!
There's mystery, there's intrigue, there's misunderstanding, there's secrets galore and a huge risk that everything will be lost. The author really did a superb job of keeping the momentum throughout the book, the pace moving along splendidly and the HEA, I guarantee, will turn any bad mood and leave a smile on one's face. It certainly did on mine!
Free spirited, carefree, simple, is how Georgia wishes her life was but she's a princess, and princesses are supposed to be graceful, and charming and attentive and smiling, doing menial tasks, making the right clicking noises, which Georgia tries her utmost to comply with. She accepts her duties, grudgingly, one being a suitable marriage match. Ok, her FATHER wants her to, not she... SHE'D rather run for the hills than marry some twice her age man! A chance meeting with a dashingly handsome man sets a whole different ball rolling.... EVERYONE knows one shouldn't make a deal with a Fae, they twist and use it to their advantage. To be fair, Georgia had no idea WHO he was or that her innocent words would be so misconstrued!
Forrest, THAT charming and handsome fella, is actually the Fae king, under a curse, one he cannot break and it's affecting him badly. Not only is he forced into frog form, soul rot has started to take a hold. When he realises Georgia's bloodline, well, he HAD to try, didn't he? To lift the curse of course, not because she lit up something in him... I thoroughly enjoyed their cat and mouse dance and oh my word did I chuckle at the notes Georgia and Forrest sent each other! I loved loved loved how they both tried to deny their feelings, how they tried to skirt around what they felt was right and the intimate click when they realised, 'oh heck, I'm in too deep'. Both these characters were pure pleasure to embrace. And embrace them I did, wholeheartedly!

After the death of her mother and disappearance of her older sister, the second born princess knows that her duties are now to her kingdom and keeping her younger sister safe. Georgia knows that all of these balls are intended for her to find a suitor and smart political match but she just finds them tiring and emotionally draining. She just longs to be able to be herself, even if just for 5 minutes, without being judged or put down upon. Fae King Forrest knows that it is a matter of time before his curses come out into the open and he will not only have to fight the unseelie court to rule but those who feel he is a danger to the seelie court itself. He convinces himself that he can’t just keep drinking and stewing in his misery, that things won’t change if he doesn’t at least try. He has an idea of who he needs to look for in a bride to help lift his curses and in turn traps her in a fae bargain to be his betrothed. Georgia found the mysterious man attractive at first but once she found out he was fae, her fear and anger drives her instincts. But this also gives her the chance to look for her missing sister who had been taken by fae years ago. Many secrets are being held by both parties but can they come to a mutual agreement to help each other weather the looming threat of the unseelie court?
I understand Georgia’s desires for the way things used to be and to have the freedom to be herself. But we aren’t always allowed those luxuries and the lies we tell ourselves can sometimes blind us to the truth. That point was made very well in this story and I loved how deep that concept was in this fairytale retelling. Forrest comes off as an ass at times due to his lack of explaining things to Georgia. But I also feel that was done on purpose to make him stand out as cold and different to her open curiosity. There are several secrets and layers from the past but told in a way that it isn’t overwhelming. The pacing was a bit too quick at the beginning to where I wished some of the concepts and meetings were fleshed out a bit more. The overlapping POV took me a few chapters to adjust to but I liked seeing the scene from both perspectives. A quick summary of the story entails a fae King cursed to be a frog by day and his true fae form by night. In an attempt to break the curse, he travels to the human lands to steal himself a bride in hopes of making her fall in love with him and break his curse. After a tricky bargain, Georgia, the MFC, is caught in his web and brought to the land of the fae. Their enemies' charade quickly begins to crumble as they realize they may have actual feelings for each other, but what happens when untold secrets are brought to light, and everything they both thought they knew starts to unravel? Maybe not everything or everyone is what they seem.
Let me start off by saying I thoroughly enjoyed and adored this book. I finished it in one sitting. It was a quick enough read to get through easily but still had the relationship tension and growth, world-building, and conflict that any good book has. I enjoyed the shorter chapters and the dual POV.
Both of the main characters were easy to love, as well as the side characters. Nothing beats a trusted right-hand man and friend and a trustee handmaid who can turn into the cutest bunny and be the animal sidekick any girl needs.
The banter and the growing love and admiration between these characters throughout the book had me constantly smiling while reading. I loved the note passing throughout the beginning of the book. It was very cute and made me chuckle. It was also a good way for them to continue to communicate and bond even when they weren't in each other's presence. I also loved their teasing, silly nicknames, and the way they addressed each other.
The world-building, although minimal, was still just the right amount for this story. The humans and the fae live on different islands separated by vast waters. The MMC, the king of the Faes, lives on the hidden and unreachable fae islands, whereas the MFC lives in the human lands as the princess of the King's, her father's, kingdom. There are good fae, the Seelie, and the evil fae, the Unseelie, who despise humans and want to rid the world of them and overthrow the King, which plays a huge role in the story's plot.

I want to start of by saying I dont really like the Frog Prince as a fairy tale. At least in the German verison the girl is a spoiled brat who is completely ungrateful and she doesn’t even have a legit change of heart. So not a lot to build on for a retelling. This was in someways more of a Beauty and the Beast story than a Frog Prince story. But whoever’s story we are telling, it was a lot of fun. Our female lead is charismatic, intelligent, dutiful, really a pretty well rounded character. She doesn’t trust the MMC but there’s grounds and he’s not exactly warm and fuzzy. She’s willing to largely let her grudges go once she’s had a little time to process. His lack of candor definitely has grounds and while better communication definitely would have helped them, it’s completely understandable why they feel the need to keep some cards close to their chest. I really appreciate the fact that the author avoided the “bad communication for *reasons*”. Organic storytelling points! The pacing of the love story was far better than most romantasy books I’ve read. It’s fits and spurts, it’s hot and cold, it doesn’t just turn on suddenly and launch; like real relationships, it grows unevenly. This story was largely character driven, not that there wasn’t a plot but the main momentum of the story was the characters and they were very well done. I will say the plot stakes did not feel very high and very secondary - so if you want a plot driven story with a real resolution, or a mystery solved this isn’t it. But it did a great job being a romantic character book!

I have been enjoying this collection called Enemies Ever After; retellings of Fairy Tales and Bedtime stories in the form of short novels, all from different authors. Diving into each one has been a pleasure, plus with the weather outside this has been a cozy journey during the holidays.
I’ve only read three of the ten, but so far this one is my favourite. FMCs with wild and free spirited attitudes are always a favorite of mine, and Georgia’s passion for life was quite refreshing. Even though Forrest is a bit gloomy, his character growth due to his time with Georgia was genuine and I loved following their story. The nickname “Little Sparrow” and the cage-less bird references made me swoon. Their banter combined with their note passing made Georgia and Forrest wonderful together, easily cementing this as a great new take on one of my favourite classics.
Ultimately a quick and easy read, but the world building plus the way the plot was retold with fae came together wonderfully. I really hope you give all of these a chance, but if you need to pick one to start, definitely set aside an evening and start with this one.

Playful, romantic, and timeless. That's exactly the words I would use to describe this book.
There is something modern fairytales have lost, and that's timeless charm. However, this book effortlessly captures the carefree, familiar feeling all my childhood fairytales had, with an adult twist. I enjoyed every one of the tiny details woven into the story and thought of. The banter between the characters had me actually laughing out loud to the point my husband asked me what I was reading and smiling so much about.
I was sad how fast the ending felt, I did feel as this book had potential to be so much more but I do also understand it's a series with other authors so it was necessary. I'll be watching out for her next fairy tale retelling about a certain human and Nutcracker and her other books.

Even stolen brides need to be wooed
Women of all walks of life need much more from a man than merely pouring tea for her.
How does one fill empty periods of time when everything used to be structured before? Going from a first-born princess with lessons and conferences and entertaining and… and… and… to having free reign of an entire castle and an isle? I thought I had problems deciding which books on my TBR list to read first, but I’m also privileged to have housework and errands for occupation. Whatever did rich people do all day when they had servants to handle the mundane aspects of life?
Georgia begins questioning who she is and what her future role is. Perhaps having the time and space for such contemplations aren’t such a burden, after all.
Some sage advice from the author:
‘Trust your instincts’
‘Never make a bargain with a frog’
I am in absolute agreement with the author that sharing knowledge is a sign of trust and that all answers can be found in a library.

I love this take on The Frog Prince coupled with Fae tales. There are so many intricate details such as the use of fairy circles to transport between places as well as the construct of sneakiness of wording among the fae. It kept both of these constructs. On top of that there was a version of the curse laid upon the fae price in regards to the frog change.
The human world was a very descriptive Louisiana or Georgia, It had a heat stroke inducing in swamp environment. The princess had a manor on the hill feeling.
The addition of a stolen sister, fae trickery, & deal making is a great combination.
With the island environment, the construction of the castle, adventurous atmosphere, & edge it's great for a summer read for a fantasy lover.
It gave Beauty and the Beast × The Frog Prince × The Princess and The Frog.
Give it a try if you enjoy anything like what I said. Check Trigger Warnings ahead of time. This book isn't for children.

I always have. In fact, I once filled my mom's entire purse with them. I wanted to take them home with me from the pool. Imagine her surprise when she reached inside to pull out her car keys and pulled out a handful of frogs.
She did not like frogs nearly as much as I did and definitely not as much as she had before that moment.

Everest did an amazing job of bringing her characters to life. I loved her world-building and her voice in this book. Everything was just *chef's kiss*.

From the beginning, I noticed very strong parallels to Assistant to the Villian in a very positive way. That type of book draws me in, and I enjoy myself very much.
Characters have complex and well developed personalities and backgrounds that you learn along the way. I love the back and forth Georgia and Forrest have. My favorite section is "...'You must be joking! You thought what? You would drag me here, and I would simply fall head over heels for you?' 'Why not? I’m handsome. I’m rich. I’m powerful.'"
I did feel like the ending was a bit rushed, which is why I dropped a star. Everything happened very quickly, and it almost seems like I'm being told what happens instead of being shown which the rest of the book had done very well
Overall, excellent retelling, and I can't wait to read more of this author's work.

E.V. is a new to me author. After reading this book I will be checking out other books by this author. I loved this book so much. Once, I started reading, I could not stop. I started and finished it in one day. Instantly, I was connected to the characters, and I had a clear vision of what they looked like as well as the world the story took place in.
It is not easy being green, especially when you are cursed to live life as a frog. Forrest knows this firsthand. Forrest and Georgia's first meet and greet was nice. Forrest was a gentleman, so when he waltzed to her dad and demanded that Georgia is his, that took me a bit by surprise but at the same time I loved Forrest claiming Georgia.
The slow burn romance was perfect. There is not a lot of steam but that one moment between these two was enough for me. Kissed by Songs of Lilies is the chef's kiss!

This was a super cute book! I really liked the theme, the princess and the frog, and the imaginative retelling of that classic story - definitely not your childhood story. There were parts I didn’t see coming so that was a pleasant surprise. It’s well written, the pace is good. I would have actually liked more world building, more discovery of the fae island, that would be fun but the focus is the story and the romance so it makes sense. The romance unfolds slowly throughout the book, there’s a little bit of tension. A bit of well written spice. Focus is definitely on the heart! Enjoyable book, am really looking forward to reading her next book in this series. And I’m going to check out the other series now, this is the first book from this author I’ve read and I want to read more! I got an arc and am leaving a review of my own volition.

This was such an interesting re-telling of The Frog Prince with fae! Georgia is a human who knows she will have to marry for her kingdom. She has the typical hatred for the fae. Forrest is the cursed "prince" who is actually a king. Enter fae deals, and Georgia is now betrothed to the fae king.
They both have their secrets and are sure they can use the other to accomplish a means to an end. This creates the miscommunication trope at its best (secrets and omissions). In the process, they both are very good at ignoring what is growing between them.
Georgia takes longer to see things more clearly and hangs on to what she has always been told about the fae. There were some twists and surprises, and I love how the story unraveled and resolved. It does end in a HEA.

“Kissed by Songs of Lilies” was a brilliantly written fantasy romance novel; it was the first book I’ve ever read by E.V. Everest, and it was also the first The Frog Prince retelling I’ve read in a really long time.
I’m not sure what I was expecting when I started this read, but I quickly became obsessed with Forrest and Georgia’s story. It had everything I could’ve wanted in a fairytale retelling!
I absolutely loved the snarky banter between Forrest and Georgia. I was constantly giggling as I read this book, and for me at least, that’s a good thing! I thought they were both lovable characters, as well.
Their relationship developed very nicely, and no spoilers, but I’m really happy with how their story ended. All in all, this was a fantastic read, and one I’d definitely recommend to fans of swoony fantasy romanc

This book was a whirlwind. Everything happened so fast, but in the most enjoyable way. Sometimes it’s nice to read a short book that also has the story wrapped up in just the one book.
I really didn’t know what to expect going into this book other than it was a Frog Prince retelling with fae. I actually loved that this was a Frog Prince retelling, and this is my first. I am definitely a fan of retellings.
As I said this book was very fast paced. I really liked how free spirited Georgia is even as a king’s daughter. She often feels torn between her free spiritedness and her duty.

This book is A Frog Prince Fairy Tale Romance and is a part of The Enemies Ever After collection. Anyone that follows my reviews knows I just love a brilliant fairytale retelling, and a great enemies to lovers storyline. Well this book contains both as well as some intrigue, forced proximity, curses and magic.
The MMC Forrest is a fae king who has been Cursed. The FMC Georgia is a human princess who was tricked into agreeing to becoming Forrest's bride. This story is full of twists and will keep you gripped from beginning to end.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and will be checking everything else this author has done. I highly recommend this story.

This book is A Frog Prince Fairy Tale Romance and is a part of The Enemies Ever After collection. Anyone that follows my reviews knows I just love a brilliant fairytale retelling, and a great enemies to lovers storyline. Well this book contains both as well as some intrigue, forced proximity, curses and magic.
The MMC Forrest is a fae king who has been Cursed. The FMC Georgia is a human princess who was tricked into agreeing to becoming Forrest's bride. This story is full of twists and will keep you gripped from beginning to end.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and will be checking everything else this author has done. I highly recommend this story.

Home sick and so reading in between sleeping. Haven’t come across many Princess and the Frog retellings and can’t across this one by chance during a stuff your kindle day 2 weeks ago.
I really enjoyed it, could it have been a bit longer and have more depth? Sure but overall it was excellent. I enjoyed the characters and the story the author told. The world was interesting but simple to comprehend and pacing was quick but sufficient. I will definitely read the next one (a Cinderella retelling) when it is released next year.
At the rate I keep finding fairy tale retellings I love..and the number of them I wished I owned physical copies of…my 900 square foot condo won’t be big enough to house them. 😂
