Neowiz and Round8's souls-like video game, Lies of P, is loosely based off of Carlo Collodi's Pinocchio.
Lies of P has become one of my fixations. The gameplay is fun, the story is excellent, and the worldbuilding and lore are incredible to behold. And the characters, their stories and history, are just as amazing. So, it only made sense to get The Art of Lies of P.
The chapters open with a brief paragraph, but I would have loved if there had been additional commentary here and there throughout the chapters; however, I do love and appreciate how those brief paragraphs were sure to include its connection to Pinocchio.
Definitely recommend for any fan of Lies of P.

Great Game, Great Artbook!
Victorian Aesthetic + Gothic Horror and a little bit of Cosmic Horror.
Wish it had more info about the items and the process of designing characters/weapons, etc., inspired by Carlo Collodi's original story, Pinocchio.

This game. This Art. Everything about Lies of P is a visual masterpiece of storytelling.

"While drawing the mechanical heart for Geppetto's puppet, I dreamed. I dreamed of bestowing my heart upon someone, thinking it is the same as giving my whole self to them. And I thought I would be blissful if I could do that.
The memory returned to me as I embarked on the journey of creating this art book. It's likely not a coincidence."
It's no question that Lies of P is a beautiful game with stunning environments and great costumes, cool weapons and enemies, deep lore and a lot to look at. This art book is no exception and shows a lot of the finer details that I didn't get a chance to appreciate while I was busy running for my (puppet) life.
I wish it had a little more descriptions from the artist throughout, but aside from small paragraphs at the start of each location's chapter, it was really all pictures. I would have liked a little bit of the inspiration behind certain monsters, puppets, or weapons.
Still a beautiful book for fans of the game. (I wish some of the art from the DLC Overture was included, but it's only the base game.) 3/5

Full disclosure, I read this a while ago at a friends house, because their mate had taken it there. Don't get me wrong, I had time to read the whole thing.
But I haven't completed the game. I haven't too great of an understanding on the worldbuilding etc, but I'm equally debating this now for my souls collection.
Lie's of P is a soulslike game. I call it the pretty boy version of dark souls, but we have puppets instead of ashen ones. I so far, adore the world building, in regards to this book, it definitely enhanced that. The cover is stunning, the content was fun to read through. I love the artwork included, and I may come back to edit this review after I get my own copy of this book.

I would have wished for more text (developer commentary), especially when the developers always write the most beautiful and profound things. (Then again, being laconic and mysterious is kind of the game's vibe, so...) That being said, I am still over the moon that we even got this gorgeous art book in the first place and am absolutely in love with it. It is humbling to see the level of love and care that went into every little thing in the game. There were many illustrations I had never seen before and I feel really fleshed out the characters and the game's world

4.5 Beatiful artbook! Vey high quality. The only minus can be the lack of creators commentary beside at the beginning of the chapters.

gorgeous concept art for lies of p - loved the chapter introductions & would have really enjoyed additional commentary. (unfortunately this would have been hard to gauge before purchasing the book because it's shelved wrapped in plastic)
