In this sexy, contemporary romance, Duncan Forbes is a bad boy, motorcycle-riding adventurer, who arrives in the sleepy small town of Swiftcurrent, Oregon to track down a Van Gogh missing since WWII. He rides in in a beige rental car, but things begin to turn around for him when he keeps seeing an ad for an Indian Chief motorbike that reminds him of wild quests from his past. A wealthy man, thanks to the international treasures he's tracked down and restored to the rightful owners, Duncan Forbes heads to Changing Gears, the M/C store that's as mysterious as the owner who throws out clues to the whereabouts of the missing treasure. Duncan figures Merle's passed the border between eccentric and crazy when he begins to see that the guy's obscure hints might be right. Even more interesting, he realizes that when Merle talks about priceless treasure, he might not only be talking about the Van Gogh, he might be referring to the sexiest librarian who ever shelved a book.
Alexandra Forrest is a dedicated librarian. She's also a very sexy woman who likes to wear high heels and tight clothes. She's breaking the librarian stereotype and loving every minute of it. When a hot, sexy drifter rolls into her library, she senses he's trouble. Duncan Forbes is known as the Indiana Jones of the art world. He loves nothing better than to ride into danger and ride out with treasure. He's a wealthy man thanks to his side hustle, and a respected one thanks to his day job as a college art professor. When stolen art, murder, motorcycles and hot love combine the result is likely to be a wild ride.
Other books in the Changing Gears series include Fast Ride and Crazy Ride.

That's a fairly accurate description of the central characters of this contemporary suspense romance, but while the librarian Alexandra Forrest is super hot, she's a believably very hot librarian stuck in a small town where the pool of eligible men is virtually non-existent. And her love interest, Duncan Forbes, is realistically hot as well.He is, however, anything but a Bad Boy. Unless you consider a university professor and author and expert in stolen art who tracks down stolen masterpieces to return them to their rightful owners as a Bad Boy. (In other words, He's Indiana Jones.) This is a good mystery/suspense novel revolving around stolen world-famous artwork by Vincent Van Gogh. The novel begins with intrepid art professor and sleuth Forbes staring up the skirt of the hottest woman he's ever seen in a library. His ogling irritates the very hot Alex who is very serious about her small-town library, but doesn 't see why she can't dress up in sexy clothes in a town too small to have any really interesting men to flirt with. The two skirmish over the efforts of Forbes, the hunky biker because he travels by motorcyle, to track down the missing Van Gogh The growing attraction between Duncan and Alex, who hasn't been around a man that appeals to her in a LONG time, is temporarily sidetracked as bodies begin to appear, murder weapons pop up where they shouldn't be, and Duncan keeps secrets he thinks he should conceal from Alex for her own safety and to help him track down the Van Gogh. As much as she turns him on, he is in town on business. There's an entertaining plot involving organized crime, black market art, and the mystery of who is REALLY trying to find the artwork to sell it and is willing to kill Alex and her sister to get ahold of it. And in the middle of all this, there's the drama of Alex trying to reconnect with her screw-up sister Gillian who is a drug user and an ex-con married to a complete loser who is coming back into her life. And not to forget, there's the small-town Sheriff who had a thing for Gillian once upon a time before drugs and prison and her loser husband got in the way. This is a fast moving novel with a decent mystery at its heart, two budding romances, murder and mayhem. And two appealing central characters and two minor backup characters who could support their own novel. If you like romance, mysteries and VERY, VERY hot lady librarians, this is a good book to buy.
Not sure why I liked this book so well, but I really did enjoy it. The story also had a number of smoking hot sex scenes that held my interest. That's fairly unusual as I usually start skimming those after the first one. After all, how many times can you write a tab-a/slot-b scene and keep it fresh? But Ms. Warren did that. At least for me.
Not that this didn't have a little hitch at the start. The hero & heroine meet while he's perusing the bottom shelf in the library and he looks up her skirt as she's reshelving books. That didn't really work for me because--really? She didn't see him there? And she'd have to be damn close for him to look up her skirt. I admit that elicited an eye roll. That's the only reason this isn't a five star story for me.
This was a story with a treasure hunt mixed in with the main couple falling in love. Duncan is looking for a missing painting g and Alex's grandfather knows where out is. The only problem is that her grandfather is dead. Now add in a dead bad guy found in the library, a shady soon to be ex brother in law and it makes an interesting story that kept my attention all the way through.
I have never before read a spicy romance from Ms. Warren and this one is hot and incredibly, it also has a great story, than encompasses more that you expect. Parts of the story are there for you to figure out by design and they give you the suspense part, which is great.
You people should just read this book yourselves and write your own review on this novel yourself and I really enjoyed reading this book very much so. Shelley MA
Fast paced, steamy romance adventure. Strong characters and well written plot. Enjoyed the flow of this story. Excellent character development and interplay.
Duncan Forbes is a professor who loves to rock climb, paint and moonlights as an expert in finding lost art work. When he gets contacted to find a missing Van Gogh painting he finds himself in the small town of Swiftcurrent, Oregon, in search of Mr. Forrest. What he doesn't expect to find is a very sexy librarian who he can't seem to get his mind off of. When he finds out that she is the granddaughter of Mr. Forrest. He can't help but wonder if maybe she knows something about the missing painting. Instead of asking her outright he does what he thinks is the best idea. He snoops around her grandfather's house, her apartment, and her cousin's apartment, and the office of her former brother-in-law, but he still comes up without the painting. When he finds himself losing his heart to Alex Forrest he is willing to come clean, but he comes clean a bit to late and Alex is unwilling at first to listen to him.
Alex Forrest, local librarian, looks nothing like you picture a librarian. She dresses for herself. She wears heels, skirts, and heart cut shirts. Alex has a plan for her life and is putting it in action so that she live the life she has planned out of Swiftcurrent, Oregon. She finds Duncan and she suddenly starts to rethink her plan. But her former brother-in-law drops hints that he isn't so sure about Duncan. Alex finds his secret and she feels betrayed.
Wild Ride is a wonderful read. It has mystery, romance, action, gossip and misunderstandings. All can be easily fixed as long as everyone is willing to listen and not judge, before knowing all the facts.
Wild Ride by Nancy Warren Changing Gears Series Duncan Forbes is a professor and he's on sabbatical while he writes and searches for lost and stolen art. Following a lead on a long lost Van Gogh leads him to the small town of Swiftcurrent, Oregon...with the sexiest librarian he's ever seen.
Alexandra Forrest has an agenda. Now that her grandfather has passed away, she plans on finishing the details of writing his memoirs and packing up his home to sell. Then move to the big city to complete her life plan. One that definitely does not include the sexy stranger in her library.
Gillian Forrest Munn messed up her life big time as a teen and small towns don't forget. Now that her husband left her, she's alone again and only Officer Tom Perkins seems to really believe she has changed.
A dead body in the library in this quiet town changes everything. Things like this don't happen here. A steamy romance and murder mystery are only two of the happenings going on. Another page turner story. **Strong sexual content and language http://justjudysjumbles.blogspot.com/...
>I am an independent reviewer. This book is the first in the Changing Gears series and ends with an HEA. The search for a stolen Van Gogh is the premise for this story. Add in a hot romance and a little suspense and you get a plot that really moves. Alex is the town’s hot librarian. Her cousin, Gillian is the black sheep of the family. Duncan and Sheriff Tom are the good guys trying to figure out what is going on and who is doing it.
>The plot was fun. The bad guy wasn’t that hard to figure out, but not too easy either. The romance was a bit stilted to me. I felt Alex is rude to Duncan for way too long for hardly any reason. Then when she decides to get together with him, for some reason, the way the relationship was written seemed cold and not very romantic.
>This story is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving the story 4 stars. The story was compelling.
I absolutely loved this book. I don't want to spoil the book with my review but lets just say this is a great story. A love story of course, with a mini love story in between everything and it's a bit of a mystery. The characters in the story don't seem the least bit likely to end up together and yet they are the perfect matches all the way around.
You've got the love that got away when they were younger and her hero. The lady so sexy you wouldn't believe her job and her hero the dark and mysterious stranger in town. Mix that in with the mystery of who done it and how and you've got the all around great book.
This book does have a bit of sexual content and isn't recommended for younger audiences.
Duncan known as a bad boy who is a college professor who looks for stolen art work in his spare time. His extra job has made him a wealthy man. He comes into town looking for a missing Van Gogh and stumbles upon the very sexy librarian Alexandra. She is like no librarian you have ever seen before. So the sparks start to fly between the two of them. In the meantime they stumble upon a dead body in the library in a quiet little town where nothing exiting ever happens. So the adventure begins. Fill with twists and turns. The book will make you laugh and cry. It is an amazing story and I hated to see it end.
Great plotline about the missing Van Gogh. The hero and heroine were fairly likeable, but became boring with all the sex and sexual innuendos. And what's with the motorcycle? It's on the cover, hinted at in the title and mentioned in the blurb. In the story, he buys it and rides it a couple of times. It doesn't figure in to the plot.
I quite liked the story, but the writing errors nearly drove me crazy. Alex went to her grandfather's house on Lincoln Street, while Duncan went to the same house on Jefferson Street. Alex referred to her cousin's husband as her brother-in-law twice. Just little inconsistencies, along with a few other mistakes.
This one really had no relationship to a motorcycle; not sure about the title. I didn't like the H - I thought he was kind of a jerk at the beginning, and didn't really redeem himself much. The mystery wasn't too difficult to figure out. Well written, though, and it did move along.
This was a good mystery. I love that she was this prim and proper librarian that dressed super sexy and had a very big appetite for sex. Just proves that you can't judge a book by its cover or a person by their job title.
Don't buy this book if you think it is about a Biker. The motorcycle is mentioned more in the synopsis than the book. The premises was a great idea, but poorly delivered. The story is slow and predictable.
I gave a 5 star rating because the storytelling was awesome. Duncan and Tom are the heroes of this book. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a great thriller.
Action, adventure, sex, love, jealousy and art! This book has it all! Alex and her cousin Gillian have recently lost their grandad, but could their grandad's past cause them to lose their lives?
If you like your mysteries with some spicy love scences, well-developed characters, and fast-paced plot, this is the one for you. Throw in a murder and some international intrigue as a bonus! A fun, fast read.
The storyline was intriguing and I enjoyed many of the characters. Duncan and Alex make a great couple. Their meeting is sexy and cute. The secondary storyline with Gillian and Tom helps to move the book to it's conclusion. Has a HEA.
Very, very good. Love Nancy Warren. A murder, a missing work of art, the man who is looking for it, and a sexy librarian. Romance and mystery at its finest. Only a slight mention of Changing Gears, but just enough to make me want to read more of this series.
