Let’s pretend that Chef Gordon Ramsay prepared the most succulent dinner, a meal so delicious that you’ll be telling your grandchildren stories about it. Hours later after the food has entered the stomach, the gastric juices break down that most decadent meal, and eventually it is turned into excrement. Folks, meet Kate Stone, the gastric juice in the literary world. Kate has taken a 5 star book, UnDeniable, broke it down and attempted to copy it, and Break Me is what was pooped out.
Did Kate think that no one would notice the similarities between her story and UnDeniable? I’m willing to bet $20 that she will deny ever reading UnDeniable, the book that is highly favored by fans of the MC genre. If you think my review is harsh, let me point out some facts.

****SPOILER ALERT*******

1. The Break Me story centers around a character that has been in and out of juvie since his teens and called “Crazy Evan”, and introduces members of the MC called Mick, Ripper, Danny, and ZZ, a red-head that cleans the clubhouse, and a young girl that wears tattered jeans and t-shirts. Crazy Evan is obsessed with UnDeniable’s lists of characters include “Crazy Frankie”, a young man that’s been in and out of jail since his teens; other characters include Mick, Ripper, Danny, ZZ, Dorothy (a red head that cleans the clubhouse), and Eva (a young girl that wears torn jeans and t-shirts).
2. Break Me’s club prez is an older man with one syllable first and last name that throws around the word “darlin’”; UnDeniable’s club prez, Cole “Deuce” West put the word “darlin’” in Urban Dictionary, I would say Webster’s, but we all know Webster’s is too uptight and button down collared shirt for that stuff. Seriously though, Deuce is legendary for using “darlin’”.
3. Crazy Evan is very, very similiar to UnDeniable's Crazy Frankie, from his need to kill the club president, the coerced sex, to his obsessed with the heroine, stating “Need you more than life baby…More than fucking life…Can’t fucking sleep, can’t fucking eat. Don’t you know that?” Crazy Frankie made the statement to Eva “I can’t sleep without you, and I can’t breathe, baby. I can’t fuckin’ breathe. “.
4. Break to Callie: “Tell me,” he whispered, “do you want it hard, or do you want it slow?” Deuce to Eva: “You want it hard, baby?” he whispered, “Or you want it slow?”
5. In one instance, Break says “She’s not for the club, she’s mine”. Deuce made the statement “She doesn’t belong to one of my boys. She’s fuckin’ mine”.
6. In a rape scene, Break is forced to watch, and Callie finds salvation during the act by staring into Break’s blue eyes. In UnDeniable…..ditto…..same thing.

There are other similarities, but I've made my point. My review is harsh, but I hate when someone steals another person's ideas and hard work and tries to profit from it.

I can’t even bring myself to call Kate an author, Kate is a copy-cat and an opportunist; she is not a writer. I want to call her a plagiarist, but she changed just enough words that the statements aren’t verbatim. Sadly, this isn’t the first MC book that has attempted to copy “UnDeniable”, but it’s probably the worst-written semi-plagiarized version. What parts that Kate didn’t “borrow” from UnDeniable, were poorly written.

Here’s an idea, Kate and to others that want to create a succulent dinner by stealing Chef Gordon Ramsay’s recipe (aka Madeline Sheehan’s book) and calling it their own: go watch Paula Deen on The Food Network (aka take a writing course), then practice with your own ingredients (aka your own words and story), and then when you’ve worked hard enough and come up with an original recipe, host a dinner party (aka publish your own book). In the meantime, if you want a book that is equivalent of ordering a pink-slime burger through a speaker and being asked “Would you like fries with that?”, this might be your book.

“You don’t belong here, Katie.”

Katie only wanted to be a bad girl for once and look where it brought her. The freedom she had hoped to acquire was forever out of her reach when she fell into the hands of her abusive and possessive boyfriend, Evan. She couldn't be more trapped.

Her ticket out would come in the form of Break, the president of the Broken MC, the very MC Evan was recruited for. Break treated her better than Evan had or could. Break loved and cared for her but what did Katie do? She ran. Stupidest decision she'd ever made. Things would get so much worse before it got better....

description

“Hang onto what’s still good in you, don’t let this place take it away. You’re too beautiful to end up broken…”"I'm already broken,"

Katie felt like she was Evan's toy and in a way she was just that to him, but at the same time she also got off on his rough treatment. Evan's “love” for her was flawed, twisted, she knew it, but I don't think she fully recognized it for what it was. Because she mentioned that she didn't doubt his love. The why beats me because it should lead to doubt, it should lead to a lot more than doubt because the man was completely psycho.

description

But her reaction to him and his sick ways was like she was making the best out of the situation....I have no words for that. Yes I felt sorry for her situation but I just couldn't get over her stupid decisions.

And her prince on a motorcycle, Break, to me he didn't inspire the safety net he was supposed to be for Katie. He went down a lot. I honestly thought he might be too weak to be the president of the MC. And I'd feared for him that his men would rally and choose Evan's side, as some thought his actions were justified... and Evan just appeared to be the stronger one of the two.

description

What I did like about Break was how he spoke about the loss of the woman he loved, that did touch me. And this one sentence made the most sense in the entire book.

“We’re all living on borrowed time darlin. She lived her life fast and hard. I admired her for that. I loved her for that.”

But when did Break's name become Broken? Hm not good. Then it got worse when Break's name became Evan. Now that just put me off. It showed that the book wasn't properly edited. Overall it was a frustrating read, there were some parts I liked but there were plenty more times that this book just pissed me off. For me it doesn't score more than 2 stars.

2 WTH WAS THAT Stars!

This is me after finishing this book....

and then.... after I try to process everything, this is me....

And no, I didn't lose my mind, yet, lol... It was just too crazy not to laugh about the whole thing.

What drove me to this book, well the cover for one, then comes the blurb, abused, broken and biker world.

From the beginning I know I should have stopped reading... I mean it was pretty disturbing to think that she just got off one very abusive relationship and right away she had sex with another man... and to even fall in love in like what, a couple of days later? You, the reader, won't even have time to process what was happening, she's already moved forward or the story has moved forward from one clusterfuck to another. Just a big NO NO for me.

But yeah, I tried and gave it a benefit of a doubt and read the whole book.... but just noooo... it went from weird to weirder... But, given, there is that gritty part, there is action, suspense, and sex... but just didn't work for me, at all! Couldn't connect with everything.

Nope... this is not it for me. Sorry

I didn't like how instantaneous everything was. In the span of three days she went from one guy to the next. Yes Evan was a horrible, despicable human being but I don't like how quickly she jumped into a relationship with Shawn.

It really bothered me how fast she fell in love and fell into bed with Shawn. I mean she was "so-called" bruised and battered from a beating Evan had given her but that didn't stop her from having sex with Shawn.

Anyone whose ever had their ribs broken knows that it's hard to breathe let alone have sex. So I give this book 1 star for the unrealistic story line. Had the book taken place in the span of a few weeks as opposed to three days I might have felt differently.

A história é boa e completamente diferente desse outro livro aí.

I love a good MC book and was excited to see a new one for 99 cents...and it was a fairly good length book (not a novella) and had an interesting description. Unfortunately I didn't love it and I found myself wincing at parts and rolling my eyes...calling the book Break Me and having the VP named Break and the heroine telling him to "Break me!" while describing them both as "broken" was a bit over the top. To read in the author's notes that she had awesome beta readers and she gave thanks for the support made me really question who the hell these readers were because OMG...they must have not liked her very much to let so many mistakes go through to the final book. Seriously a ton of spelling errors, grammatical mistakes, calling someone by the wrong name, etc. and not only that, but she broke a few of the most well known MC lifestyle rules. Women are not allowed into club meetings to watch and listen nor is anyone supposed to rip a biker's cut off of him and throw it on the floor...wow...that's Biker MC 101...LOL.
The story was NOT original either and it was too much like other books I have read that were written seemingly quickly to jump on the biker romance bandwagon craze but are not near as good as the higher profile MC series available by some of my favorite authors.
I feel like some serious editing should be considered and definitely an original storyline...maybe some new beta readers before the next one comes out (if she ever writes another one).
Disappointed because it had a lot of potential but just fell short.

*** 2 *** definitely broken stars

This book just didn't do it for me. I felt like it could've been really good, but the h really messed it up. I couldn't relate at all with the her. In fact, I couldn't stand her. She hooks up with a "bad boy" which is what she's looking for, but this bad boy is crazy. He beats the crap out of her continuously, but she stays and loves him. He finally becomes a prospect for Break by getting beaten in then goes on to force the "doc" to go down on him while she is tending to his wounds. When he finally comes to bed later that night, he forces the h to go down on him in which she sees doc's lipstick still on him, but as he pushes her head down, she is turned on WTF! I just did not understand how she still loved him and was so turned on by him when he did all the things he did to her. One day she is with Evan and the next she becomes Break's old lady. She stays with Evan for years, but when Break tries to protect her and become legit, she runs away. She just didn't make any sense to me. She literally was TSL. Even though it wasn't for me, you read it and decide for yourself.

Break Me was a good start for a new author in this genre. It's a story of a good girl meets/hooks up with bad boy and ends up becoming the abused woman. The bad boy Evan has serious mental stability issues. At times, Callie, seems well adjusted to the violent lifestyle and other times seems to want to be straight and respectable. She is also, what I like to call, the Rambo biker woman. She can shoot, track and kill a man without a qualm. She can sneak out of captivity with a whole room of bad biker members who have repeatedly raped her, steal a gun and kill a bunch of bad guys. Shawn was probably my favorite character. He ends up being the hero and at times is the epitome of the big, bad, alpha MC president and other times as a soft, considerate lover. The attraction was lust at first sight and the "love" did take a little time to develop. There are many things I could point out to make the book better IMO, but considering the author did a good job on the first book, I'll just wait for book 2.

This was a quick read. Lately been on a biker kick this was ethnic biker haha. It moved quick which made it unbelievable but yet I still devoured it.

Shawn Break is the president of a mc that was passed down to him. his father was tough but he fell hall for Callie. Callie changed things for him she was his game changer.

Callie was Evan since she was a teenager she was in the cycle of abuse with him and didn't know how to walk away till Shawn became her way out. Shawn and Callie relationship developed quickly but their connection was inevitable

Quite a few grammatical errors but the story telling was good. A realistic account of the intrigue and violence associated with a biker club that entertains with constant drama. An editing attempt would have made this tale a much more enjoyable read but I couldn't help liking how everything played out with realistic and well fleshed out scenes .This was my first time reading a book from this author and I will look for more in the future.........

'Im not sure what to say about this book.
I thought everything happened too fast. falling in love and declaring it 2 days after someone?? Everyone likes a cheesy romance but this was ridiculous. I'm so disappointed because the storyline was really good, but I felt time and effort wasn't put into it, as i was reading i felt the book was rushed and it's a shame. Prob wont attempt any more from this author

An okay read. A bit of editing required. Found the plot a little difficult to take, either that or I lost the thought process a few times. The book can be little hard to follow. Still not understanding how you go from a really abusive situation over a period of years and end up jumping into bed with someone else!?

Break Me had me confused a lot of times. There was not enough details to the story. A good editor is needed as well (the very least is to break up scenes). Hope this can be revised since it has potential to be a good MC story.

Unfortunately I couldn't finish, with the grammar errors ( I've read tons of indie author books and this is the first where they actually annoyed me) Mixing the use of Shawn and Evans name up in many parts was just to much for me , shame it seemed to have potential.
