A Feast of Information, Concepts, and Philosophy

Alexander easily includes flashbacks of Alec, Book I. Alec has become a physicist, but struggles to hear the voice of Sandra again. He believes that she is a part of him, as she said, but he would like to hear her comments. As a scientist, Alec has earned his Ph.D, is now known as Dr. Alexander Baldwin, Ph.D. under the auspices of an older well-known physicist, Dr. Desmond McBride. Alexander has married his first love, Suzy, who is as intelligent as Alexander, but not along the same lines. They have a baby boy born to them, whom they name Sacha. Sacha is an enigma to them which strains Alexander and Suzy as parents, for they know he is different, but cannot decide how.

Eventually Alexander lectures at various universities on many new scientific theories and especially the Information Theory. Throughout the book, for those interested in the various Quantum theories, conversations between Dr. McBride and Alexander hold a wealth of information. It is like an education in itself.

Alexander continues to have dreams, both beautiful and horrific, which seem more real than dreams. He definitely believes they are to teach him new ways of thinking and he spends hours discussing them with Suzy, thus giving the reader many old and also new ways of viewing life and its purpose, including religious books. Again it is a wealth of information.

This is not light reading, but for readers who like something to get their teeth into or perhaps enjoy new perspectives, even if for the sake of argument or enlightenment, this is the book for you. It enters the realms of the paranormal, laying the path to Book III of this Trilogy, “Sacha.”

Rich with backstory and full of fantastic theories, this is not a book to take lightly or read quickly—it needs to be sipped rather than gulped. And just like a good wine “Alexander” is subtly nuanced and carefully crafted. The novel continues the story of Alexander Baldwin, now a renowned scholar and physicist whose youthful wanderings into worlds beyond our own have reemerged in his adult life to influence his scientific research and alter his thoughts on life and reality.
I haven’t read the first book in this series and stumbled on this one quite accidentally, but I was sucked in immediately. The great thing about this book is that it stands alone perfectly, and if you missed the first one you can still follow the story. Thought provoking and strange, Alexander is the perfect book for physics fans, sci-fi and fantasy enthusiasts, or anyone who wants a fresh perspective on the meaning of life.

"The Apple was necessary"

In the second of Stan IS Law's Alexander trilogy, we find Alec ten years later, a young man pursuing his Pheeed (Ph.D), in love and on a collision course with fame and ultimate enlightenment.

I am not a student of philosophy, but when a book like this touches me to the point that I cry, I am maybe, on the threshold of being one. Law reached in to the universe with Alexander, giving him all the opportunities a 20-something could ever hope for and slaps a little bit of physical limitation in there to teach us that we need to be grounded in order to soar. I am jealous, envious of Suzy and Alexander but also learning from them in the same breath.

I was fearful that I would not be able to write a review worthy of this book, but I love it more than the first one and I look forward to reading the final installment. I feel as if my own awakening has begun and I am grateful to this author for giving a daydreamer permission to continue on.

I had to grin when Alexander said, “This must be just after I gave you my rib.”. On a date with my husband, I handed him a rib I had just finished and said, "Here, I'm done with this, you can have it back" I don't know, i just thought it connected.

Anyway, one final word for this review.

Interesting and captivating

Written as fiction the author looks and contrasts multiple belief systems. Written as a story of coming of age and challenges it is a story that will draw you in and reflect, on your own life and belief's.

Alexander Baldwin is establishing himself as a brilliant physicist, with help from his mentor, Dr. Desmond McBride. He marries the love of his life, Suzy, and they even have a child. So why can’t he shake his youthful fantasy world, and is it the reason for his crazy immobility?

Book 2 in the Alexander Trilogy, Alexander follows Alec, (yes, Alec Baldwin - I snickered a bit too) the boy with the epic fantasy world in Book 1 as he struggles to reconcile his youth experiences with modern reality; and, as is in the fashion of physicists, unify competing constructs into a singular theory. I honestly enjoyed the intelligence behind the story, even if I somewhat disagreed with the religious conclusions. It’s quite clear that Stan I.S. Law is very familiar with the scientific community and their processes, and managed to bring that into a fictional story without sounding TOO much like a dry lecturer. It did get quite dense at times, of course, so this story could not be rushed through, nor described as a quick read. However, if you enjoy learning from fiction, digesting both the story and the meat behind it, this is an excellent read.

I had the privilege of reading the proof copy of this long awaited sequel to The Princess. Now, in Book II of the Alexander Trilogy, Dr. Alec Baldwin, (Alexander, the mysterious amalgam of Alec & Sandra) comes to life as a brilliant physicist. Though a man completely dedicated to science, he still struggles with emotional and spiritual dilemmas, which appear to be at odds with science. Alec’s ventures into of Lemuria, Atlantis, the Kingdom of Mu, as well as his enigmatic realities of the Home Planet and The Far Country are breathtaking, each in a sublimely different way. He dares to reach far beyond the usual boundaries of imagination.

If you, too, are at times dissatisfied with the evidence of your senses, you’ll love this book. If not, Law will take you for a ride you’ll not easily forget.

Hi I received this book in exchange for an honest opinion. First off this book was exceptionally well written. For touching on such deep matters I followed the plot relatively easy.

I did get a little lost when Alexander was explaining the string theory to Suzy. But it did not hinder my enjoyment of this book. It was very interesting when the disappearing would happen. I don't know how I would have reacted to the instant travel.

I have recommended this book to a few people already! If you want something to make you think this book is it!
