Harper, a young woman with the ability to transform into a white wolf, is trapped in her wolf form, far from her home in Whitebark Stand. Haunted by the day her village was attacked, she is caught in a relentless loop of memories, unable to escape the torment of her past.

Kurt, a human burdened with untapped magical abilities and a tragic past, is the son of the very sorcerers who imprisoned Harper and hunt wolf shifters like her—the dreaded Dämonejägers. Plagued by recurring nightmares that seem inexplicably linked to Harper’s plight, Kurt seeks redemption and answers.

As their worlds collide, Harper and Kurt uncover the dark truths about the Dämonejägers and their own intertwined destinies. Together, they must navigate a perilous journey filled with danger, magic, and betrayal. Despite their distrust, they forge an uneasy alliance, relying on each other’s strengths to survive and protect those they love.

In a battle against powerful enemies and their own haunted pasts, Harper and Kurt must find a way to break free from the curses that bind them. Will their combined strength and newfound bond be enough to overcome the forces against them, or will they fall victim to the relentless cycle of revenge and despair?

Mary (M.L.) Cook is retired, with hours and hours to write. She was born and raised in Indiana. Although she’s lived in several other states, her heart lies in the Hoosier state.
Worlds come alive. Characters stand over her shoulder. Sometimes they wake her at night. All of them want to have their stories written. No matter how she thinks the story should go, it goes according to how the character decides it should. They all write their own stories.

Sometimes you can find Mary wandering the magical lands of Azeroth. If you happen to find someone who goes by Didntdream, say hello. Or perhaps it will be one of those days when she’s casting spells with her Orc, Loktoria. Either way, make her day and give her a shoutout.

Really enjoyed this one! I loved the whole idea of Harper being stuck in her wolf form, watching Kurt grow up without even knowing who she truly was. Their relationship is complicated (in the best way), and the tension between them kept me hooked. There’s magic, danger, and a perfect amount of slow-burn trust-building. If you love shifter romances with a great storyline and well-developed characters, this book is definitely worth reading
Bonus: It was really nice to see familiar faces from book one, especially a particularly hot wolf-shifter.
