Forget scarves and bobble hats. Here are some woollen wonders that will really blow your mind...
For the last four years, Gabrielle Grillo has been scouring the web for the most bizarre knitted items she can find. In this hysterically funny book, she has collected the very best of her finds. From a knitted Christmas turkey cosy to woolly vomit, they have to be seen to be believed.
After you've read WTF Knits and stitched your sides back together, you might just be inspired to dust off your needles, dig out your balls of wool and knit something downright odd yourself.
Rather too strong a focus on shit, vomit and other kinds of gore; genitals, breasts and internal organs spilling out to really be to my taste. I don't find a dozen pictures - or really any pictures - of knitted poo all that funny. Some, however, were really very clever - both in knitting and in choosing a caption - for e.g.
"We've heard of 'slow food' but this is ridiculous."
I don't doubt that all of them were very skilled, I'd just like a bit less shit.* Metaphorically and literally.
Although a lot of these are crochet and not knitted I think they are cool to look at. I like seeing other peoples creations as they give me ideas for future projects of my own. When I first saw this book I thought it had patterns in it for the WTF Knits, but it’s actually pictures of people’s weird and wonderful knitted and crocheted items.
There are some interesting pieces in there which I’m sure many could recreate or modify in their own way 😉
I wanted to make a Hanky The Christmas Poo, but ended up making a Christmas pickle instead and he is still in my Christmas tree as I write this review. lol Maybe I’ll make Hanky The Christmas Poo next year. 🤷♀️
Weird and wacky small hardback, great for any knitter.
Each page is full colour with small captions about each page. This is just a really fun book.
It amazes me how these knits were actually knitted! Some of them are completely bizarre!
The only down side to this book I think is there are no patterns, it would have been nice to have had the opportunity to have a go at some of these wacky knits.
This is perfect for any knitting enthusiast, just a little book of fun.
I would like to thank the publisher for sending this in exchange for an honest review.
Another humour book published from a popular blog. I found it funny, and once again I was reminded of Regretsy. I think my favourite knitted item was the naked, bongo-playing Matthew McConaughey. What's with the person who keeps splicing knitted monkeys and donkeys together?
The name sums this book up perfectly! There has been so much creativity, time and effort put into each and every piece featured in this book. Some are even brilliant. But seriously though, WTF were they thinking ?!? (And for that reason alone, I know my mum would love this book lol.)
