About the author

Born in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, Margaret Dickinson moved to the coast at the age of seven and so began her love for the sea and the Lincolnshire landscape. Her ambition to be a writer began early and she had her first novel published at the age of twenty-five. This was followed by many further titles including Plough the Furrow, Sow the Seed and Reap the Harvest, which make up her Lincolnshire Fleethaven Trilogy. She is also the author of Fairfield Hall, Jenny's War and The Clippie Girls. Margaret is a Sunday Times Top Ten bestseller.

This book is fantastic. I am a big Margaret Dickinson fan and her books are just as good now as they have always been, if not better. I was a bit concerned in the first few chapters that time was moving too quickly in the story and I wasn't going to get to know the characters as well as you do in some books, but I soon lost that concern as I got lost in the story.
This is not the first Margaret Dickinson book to bring a tear to my eye but it is the first one to actually make me cry. I started the book this morning and finished it this afternoon. Excellent book. Can't wait for the next one.
